that we'll hear from kayn dor hopefully uh in his postgame press conference all that right here on the cover Crimson postgame show and um man I I got to tell you there's so many different things to get into with this game um including uh jahed Campbell every single place man what a game for that guy uh but we'll take your calls I see uh you know the call line is open want to hear from you guys let me throw the number up there right now 205900 3832 but before we do anything else hey thanks for coming and hanging out this is going to be a lot of fun we're going to do this after every game you know that uh we've been doing this for years but uh do here with our new family so uh roll tight everybody like And subscribe let's talk some Alabama football we'll get it started right after this all right well I can tell right now that I've got to fix some technical stuff because you guys are kind of off in the distance uh so before I do the calls let me make sure I get everything plugged in here we had a little bit of a uh an issue right before we got this thing going so hate to do this but life of a a broadcaster right there we go this should do it right here uh your thoughts on the game ah there we go there we go now we're cooking with grease as they say uh your thoughts on the game what do you think about the game Big Win for Alabama uh let's start with uh some calls and I can't wait to hear from everybody because uh I feel like it's been a minute who call from my main man Mick Nate from Kentucky what's going on brother what's up mate sounds like you're having a good time somewhere hey dag on the right man man roll roll TI my man hey I you know uh thoroughly enjoyed the game man you know I know you know things weren't the smoothest at times but man nothing like Alabama football being back and uh I you know I love this team man I think they got the pieces definitely enjoyed it man I think it's G be a fun season were you surprised at all by um the the the the seamless transition between Nick Sabin and kayin dbor you know at first I was but I I mean just like with recruiting and everything else man it's like we didn't miss a beat and uh I I don't know man just something about him too man it just kind of hearing him and his personality and just he's kind of it just seems like he's got that hit Factor too and I'm not saying he saing but man I definitely think he's special and uh we did a good job getting that higher right I think well you don't want to mess it up I mean and you know that Nate you don't want to mess that up because it's it could set the program back to the schula days and that's not what Alabama did I mean they went out there and got a guy that's ready to go I mean he he's Relentless with a smile you know like like I watched saving on game day and I see him with like with Pat macafee and he looks so uncomfortable like having like fun outside like screaming on the sideline but his his commercial is fantastic the uh what was it the the the the rental you know H what is it vro or whatever it is you guys bbo bbo like he's he's he's great for that role right um but this this dor gu he's just good man I mean I just can't say anything else I mean what a great start no I think so too man and what I love too is you know kind of like mil row and some of those guys Malachi moris stuck around and you know it's kind of like they took on they took it on like all right you know love coach but you know he he wrote off the sunset and you know we ain't going to let this standard slip and uh I love that man and can't wait to watch these guys love you Mick always love enjoy listening I'm gonna be a frequent caller love you buddy roll damn tide brother Roll Tide man Roll Tide Nate from Kentucky I I'm glad that you guys have uh kind of slid over here with us like Nate man and uh it's great to hear Nate's voice uh getting that get the calls in let me bring in big sexy Elmo you know I can't do a postgame show with who's also coming from loud background what's up did you hear me good I can hear you I can hear everybody else there what's going on man what you think well I tell you what Nick I I I really enjoyed the game everybody um uh was talking about Hollywood uh the deuce is loose man I tell you what uh they're in the first half catches two touchdowns that's kind of what we expected out of this guy um you know just some observations out of the first quarter thought R was around the ball a lot his name called lot uh obviously sad with a couple interceptions really set the tone for the game got off to a rocky start because uh the weather there was was not good today not Chamber of Commerce weather in t uh and then you you have to go uh uh then you have to go and and um you know get ready for kickoff and and then it's like we're having communication um difficulties uh you know with headsets and uh but you know it was concerning earlier that U Western Kentucky was able to moved the ball well uh but after that third possession uh you know we got off the field and it seemed like everything calm down don't think ni yeah look man I I thought that Alabama they looked Rusty man I mean at the beginning of the game you know they they got the turnovers from Keon Sab and um and and scored some points but they got they looked a little rusty which you would expect but they just kept hitting the big plays and and they've always had these home run hitters and I was expecting that from the Kalin dor offense is that that that he was going to get these guys in position to score uh I'll tell you what I was really impressed with though was the defense up front the getting pressure on the quarterback and um we really didn't even see what the quarterbacks can do because there was just so much pressure coming from all directions at TJ Finley uh another loss to Alabama with another team yeah yeah you're right and um and uh is the audio better now I'm sorry audio problems yeah yeah it's still kind of kind of flaky let me bounce you out try to see if you can get it somewhere where it's not so bad in the background and jump back on with it around all right let me go back to the phone lines as uh as big Elmo gets his stuff worked out and I'll take another call who's this and where you calling from hey Mick it's Adam calling from Georgia how's it going hey what's up Adam man Roll Tide you friend yeah Roll Tide great to talk to you again um I just had a couple of uh brief points first um regarding the defense I thought they were incredibly athletic they weren't overthinking and um I think the scheme was simpler so it allowed them to play fast and swarm to the ball I was really impressed with you know Keon Sab Jihad Campbell and even those freshman Corners I thought they did a fantastic job and I think regarding the offense I thought the old line did a much improved job especially the right tackle opening up those holes for justice Haynes and I thought the running backs look great and Ryan Williams man he is a generational talent and you know as far as milro goes I think he looked pretty much as I expected I think he's very good and I hope he continues to improve I mean having said that it's hard to judge because it's WKU but I think ultimately this team looks like it has a tremendous amount of potential and could be very dangerous in the playoffs yeah look I I I agree with you I mean was it perfect for milro no but it's he's gotten so much better I mean and if you make a mistake you know if you put pressure on him and you don't get him he's gonna burn you I mean like just just no other way to put it I mean whether it's on the ground the guy was uh 10 runs 79 yards and two touchdowns as a runner and then uh seven of nine 200 yards as a passer and he just kept on every time that you thought that maybe he was going to fall down he would just make another touchdown play I mean I I'm I'm super impressed with um with the way that milro has Poise in the pocket I think that's one of his strengths yeah and I think overall I mean I I suspect we'll either go 11-1 or 10-2 we're going to make the playoffs and this team is going to continue to grow and when we get to the playoffs we're going to be a very dangerous team and the last thing I'll say is I've kind of heard some people say things like the culture is so different this seems so much better than it used to be and kind of insinuating some negativity towards Sabin all I want to say is sabin's the goat man he got us six national championships and I hope there's never any disrespect towards him and I love he's done a fantastic job but just want to put that out there you know because you know we are who we are because in large part of Ni D but thanks for taking my call man and I'll talk to you next week hey good to talk to you Adam thanks for coming over to uh cover Crimson I want to tell all you guys too uh please be a part of what we're doing you know I'm teaming up with Clint lamb and um and the guys at the next round and uh Mike Johnson and and Jay Coker and all those guys to put this thing together and we want you to be a part of it you can sign up now for a dollar Mike Johnson and I have a a show that we do twice a week now that's for um subscribers we're going to add some more subscriber content to it but um and then you got the message board and all the fun stuff there but really appreciate all of you guys uh for coming over here and and jumping on with us all right let's take one more call and then we'll see if uh if if big Elmo's audio is better who's this and where you calling from hey mck this is uh Vince what's up Vince from fix City Alabama how you doing man I'm doing good TI roll TI uh man I would say this man it should be scary for the rest of the country this was probably Alabama's sea game and they destroy Western Kentucky which a lot of people might say Western Kentucky but this is probably the second best power five I mean group of five team it is in the country you know I mean it's a whole lot better opponent than a lot of these other teams been playing like Ferman and Old Miss PL Ferman they are FCS schools uh Texas play Colorado State uh uh or been playing Alabama Alabama A&M but this was an impressive performance and this was Alabama's C game yeah and and I think I think the defense was awesome you only gave up 130 yards you know people talk about they ran a lot of plays against us but what averaging but three yards a play so I mean we start out a little rusty but I just I just think this team gonna be special man we got so much explosives and I got one more thing uh doing the offseason was kind of you know L of people you know putting up Ryan Williams as be as great as he is but I was wrong I mean he he he he it's not gonna be a real deal I mean he's awesome man I mean and he's awesome and Keon sa you know I'm not saying he's Caleb downs but I mean he's awesome too man I think this team gonna be you know I think I think we gonna do it this year Mi that's all I gotta say thanks hey Vince thanks for calling in man I'm roll tied to you really appreciate you jumping on and and talking and look I'm I'm going to chew on um you know some of your points here because Ryan Williams I kept hearing people from practice telling me this Ryan Williams was making plays I heard it from a lot of people that I that I get my information from guys that played guys that didn't play but been around the program for years two catches 139 yards two touchdowns including an 84 yard catching I mean the first game ever man um and and I'm hoping that it only gets better for him uh I was absolutely impressed just like you guys we don't get the nickname Hollywood and there's not a lot of times where where they're gonna you know that they would want you to leave you high school to come play college football but that's exactly what happened and the guy got the job done today and had a huge game he's gonna have nothing but confidence Building forward so uh Vince great call and uh and again we're waiting on kayn deor press conf let's go back to the phone lines again though and and talk who's this and where you calling from hey Nick it's Phil out in uh San Francisco California what's up brother hey buddy I'm just gonna hold on let me let me pop one for you had a crack had a crack a ice like cold one to celebrate our our first victory in the Kalin era dude can you imagine like I mean could this have gone any better you know for kayin deor and no honestly I honestly I'm I'm I'm really I'm really excited and happy because you know I I I'm I'm always half glass half full and when you have to replace a legend like like coach Sabin and you're like okay what's next and you're like okay he's the best of the best but he's not coach we came out here and we fired up today and I was really excited about the young guys and I you were just talking with the last caller about that 17-year-old can you believe that kid's 17 no no I I can't unbelievable unbelievable so I was I was very pleased and excited look yes we played Wester Kentucky and it's not a huge D1 school they're good though and that quarterback's faced power five players he's placed us before he's he's faced us before so I was actually really pleased there was guys on offense and defense that stepped up I'm like oh okay I see you and I'm looking forward to watching more of you so I I'm very excited you know what though I have to admit before we go down the road of it but I have to admit what what made me most excited today the best the best part of the of the year is definitely this first week one of college football and I lived for getting uh and granted we're on the west coast so game day starts at 6:00 am but the first game day of the year that is week one I'm there and I'm watching it and I couldn't have been happier Savin was so great on it him and Pat McAfee they're like The Odd Couple I loved watching it especially if you watch the end of it they were great but even the fact that he flew back to Tuscaloosa he was there with I don't know if you saw it he he was there with uh couple of his old players and enjoying it in a sweet um I just love the fact that he's still around the program too it's great and he's he's living life and we're blessed we're blessed what we had in in the past and I think we've got a great future ahead of us is it going to be what we've had old always with him with Savin maybe not probably not but we could be we could be worse off well look I mean I saw that too I mean you know he he looks so uncomfortable and McAfee looks so comfortable but you're right I mean it does it does it does make it it does make it fun to watch I mean he's so good with the breakdowns and everything else and guys uh as soon soon as we get off with Phil we're gonna hear from coach kayin dor so uh we'll have that we got that queued up we're gonna play that here in a second but I mean I'm watching Sabin Sabin needs to hire me to help him have I want to be his wingman Phil I just wanna you know I just want to teach him how to have a beer and relax a little bit not to take himself so seriously you know if he needs any help within you know like I need he needs a transition team to go from Alabama football coach to regular guy and I want to be the I want to be the the leader of that transition team you know I mean I'm gonna hook him up with you know teach him I I we did the craft beer show I can tell them about craft beers we know we can do we can do some bourbon McAfee maa's on there with his shirt off sa looks like he is just like what am I doing here you know it's just so you'd be the perfect person you'd take him to in this free have a beer and then you you take him somewhere else have a nice whiskey it'd be perfect and he he you'd ease them into it MC just put them in the deep end without without like a floaties man we we were we did the show from glet on on F you know on this week Friday and then aired today all across the state the tailgate show and we need to get save in a yellow Hammer too you know that's a kind kind of a good 1,00% man well you know you know the key to that is it's not necessarily getting to coach saen you gotta get to miss Terry give Miss Terry a yellow Hammer coach sa will have one too oh She'll follow suit right yeah 100% well I I think you said you got to get to the press conference I just wanted to chime in it was a great day it was a great day of football it's nice to have football back nice to have Bama football back and I'm just excited uh we've got a great future ahead of us I think we've got the right coach there yes no it's not coach Sabin but we've got a great person in it I don't know if and real quick I'll say this um The Human Side of all of it I don't know if anybody picked up on this during the broadcast but they were showing what coach dor did yesterday and I guess he's carried it from where he's been in the past but he brought a a child in yesterday to the to the practice I mean it's the day before game practice and he had a little bit of life in it a little bit of human side of a little girl that came in and took a took a pass or or took the ball and threw it and then ran a touchdown and like that that shows a lot to me too that he's a human being and and he cares and I'm I'm over the moon and very ecstatic and excited uh for what's to come of Alabama football hey Roll Tide Phil if you look man if you want to stick after the press conference and come back come back but if not man Roll Tide and thanks for hanging with us and I I love that man I love I'll hang up and listen and if I get a chance and the wife lets me I'll be back on all right all right all right you bet you bet good to get a w to start the year uh just I told the guys downstairs uh every win every win uh there something that they've worked hard for and make sure we enjoy it go back to work we got a lot of things that we now have on film that we can we know we can correct and and understand the the things that we're really good at and the things we need to continue to work on so uh proud uh of the way they came out started fast both sides of the ball you know feeding off each other thought the energy was great just sustained it all all game long and got a lot of guys a chance to play questions sry left side uh two catches two touchdowns for Ryan Williams just what you think of his performance yeah he's had he's got that big play capability as uh as you saw and he's done a lot of that in practice and was excited to see him get out there and big third down uh down the sideline great read by uh Jaylen with the coverage he was getting and we uh we anticipated a possible route down the sideline in a situation like that it was really cool to see those guys execute and Ryan uh just you know haul in the ball and finish and you know coming across the middle on the second touchdown just you know really focused and it just doesn't seem like the game's too fast for him so uh you know it's impressive that a guy you know his age can go out there and do the things he's doing you know obviously we've talked a lot about him he's got a bright future and really fun to see him go out there and make those plays that he did tonight so the guys believe in him and he's just done think one of the cool things about Ryan is he's gone about it you know a lot of attention gets thrown his way but he's just gone about it and really humble and just you know matter of fact stay the course type of of uh you know just go to work every type of day attitude and our guys really appreciate that and I think they're just as excited as he is for him you know with the plays that he made today yeah it looked like Kaden Proctor made have sustained an injury during warm-ups what happened there what's his stat yeah unfortunately yeah it did um just caught me by surprise obviously and you know couldn't uh couldn't go tonight and we'll continue to evaluate tomorrow just to see the severity of it and you know kind of know more here as the week goes on outside of Ryan you know zavan Brown he got the start Daniel Hill also got his first career touchdown I'm just curious what do you see you know from that group of Freshmen out there tonight yeah it's really exciting you know it gives you a lot of promise for for what's to come and you know the thing about those guys is they're just gonna gain more and more confidence with everything that they do and those reps tonight you know they all matter and I tell the guys every rep we're going to keep getting better as a team but there are certain guys like the ones you mentioned Daniel and um you know Ryan um many others zamian that just out there and just didn't seem like the lights were too bright for them and that's really cool and they got again one day at a time they're just going to keep getting better and they're going to be they're going to be great players for us uh in the Long Haul just how explosive can this offense be and did you like that did you like seeing that or would you have almost rathered have a few more sustained drives both I mean you know but how can you argue right uh you know there's there's things that weren't perfect but we made up for so now what you want to look at is those plays that didn't go as well and really dial in on you know some of the mistakes penalty here penalty there uh you know we had a we had a a communication um I think we we didn't snap the ball I think maybe Parker was trying to to Signal something and and uh get the line locked in and that's just a quarterback Center kind of being on the same page and then all of a sudden you know it was time to snap the ball when Jaylen clapped so just things like that that we can continue to get get better at but when we had the opportunity to make the plays you know I'm never going to be disappointed that we're finding ways to have explosives that's a big part of what our offense is about we preach it we practice it and uh that's that was that was fun to see I didn't you know really realize it until I looked at the time possession maybe uh into the first half there a little bit our defense you know you saw that one drive especially they were on the field for quite a while that just kind of added to it uh they you know I'm never going to argue though when we uh have those big plays those those touchdowns that we had coach want to ask you about two guys how did you think pritchet played on the left side given that I assume he's gotten most of his practice reps on the right side and also your thoughts on on Keon sabs night the first half a couple picks yeah it was you know pritet really as you said I mean he has and I know you're not there but he has taken pretty much all his reps at the right tackle spot you know I think we really went back to what he did this spring playing left tackle and it was something I know gave me confidence I'm sure it gave him and you know he and Booker took all those uh reps you know all spring long for 15 practices and so I think they just really honed back in on that uh and you know I watch the film but it obviously there was a lot of good things that happened out there and you don't do that without great offensive line play so uh excited about the way he responded all of a sudden the moment getting thrown into that position and really just being steady uh Keon Sab just you know guy needed it was at the right spot at the right time and made the plays you know that's that's what it's all about a lot of guys will be where they need to be and and all that but a little special play here and there um maybe it goes through their hands you know Keon uh you can just see he was ready for that moment he pounced when when the opportunity came and made some really big big plays and got our offense in some great field position there early in the game coach a big win but everything outside of the actual game W of Champions fourth quarter dick cand Delight what was your impressions of your first game at Bryant Denny Stadium yeah it was a lot of fun the wer Champions I think was special for a lot of our players it's always going to be that way and uh it's you know can't think our our fans enough you can just feel the energy even before you know you're not even here around the stadium or or knowing what's going on but you can just feel the buzz and that was a lot of fun uh you know the new guys I think especially enjoying it the older guys U just knowing what it's all about and being in that Stadium tonight you know we did a great job of giving them something to cheer for and our fans were amazing you know cheering being loud so can't wait to do it again a week from now right here coach how do you feel like your staff executed the game plan as a whole on your first game inside Bryant Den can you clarify the inh helmet communication at the beginning of the game what that was about yeah actually so that it wasn't in in helmet communication it was actually that their heads sets went down and the rules state that when the opponent's headsets go down you have to take yours down too and so I'm sure you guys figured it out but Nick sh Nick Sheridan play caller up in the booth actually had to come down and so little time you know uh to to get him down there and then you know that's not something that they're G to plan for and let you do but we we were able to hustle him down and then of course trying to get him back up there and then theirs went down a second time and so it was kind of a back and forth I thought I thought our staff did a great job because that's something you don't practice you know just in all my years I've never had it happen to where we had to put our headphones down because of someone else's so maybe it happens more often than I understand um and should practice it but that's that was a new one for me uh I think also the other one that was new for me was I think maybe by the third play in the game or one of the early plays we had but two helmets come off of two of our linemen at the same the same play and so all of a sudden we had a different Center left guard and left tackle from what we've practiced all along so kids did a great job of just adjusting to the adversity not not getting too shaken and just continue to to play and the next guys were ready to go so I thought our staff I think there's some s little things um we had a substitution error uh we got 12 guys on the field one time defensively those are certain things we'll talk about tomorrow besides breaking down the film and and coaching our guys up fundamentally and then schematically yeah coach it kind of looked like you guys rotated a lot of guys on defense especially in the back end just how beneficial is it to get those guys The Experience they got tonight yeah it's huge it's huge and and I'm really glad that we got that opportunity and of course that's part of what we want to do anyway and keeping guys fresh being able to sustain a high level for four quarters and not just uh dying off uh but you know getting getting a lot of young guys you know you say bway and R her out there a lot and so just they're right in the rotation and felt good about them being out there never really you know a lot sometimes when there's guys you don't trust or anything your eyes kind of get drawn to them just to make sure that you feel they feel good and they look confident and um that's not even the case I don't even feel like I gotta worry about whether they're ready to go or not so uh the secondary just thought for the most part they really didn't have big mistakes where all of a sudden someone's running free through the secondary and we just uh dropped the zone or Dro a man that we're supposed to be covering always things that we can get better at situational ball uh some crossers and things like that that I saw in second half there maybe that we can we can get better at covering but uh for the most part I thought they did a great job coach what what what makes it special having Jihad Campbell and Deontay Lawson play off each other yeah just having some guys with a lot of confidence in themselves and guys that we have confidence in and just you know they're they're they're just Staples you know they're just guys you trust and uh they're they're hard noosed uh they both can can move uh you know can run really well uh they're physical and so uh very smart a lot of the communication especially with uh coach wck to Deontay you know he can he can Deontay can handle what he's supposed to do and you know if there's someone we need to have just slightly move he can make that happen and still con have a an understanding of what's going on in front of him from the offense so uh just all those areas are are so critical when it's the middle of your defense and they uh you know again looking looking forward to watching the film but just everything I saw it seemed like they had a great game sticking with the defense just as a whole how did you see them kind of embody Kane's swarm defense and sustain intensity to hold on for the shut up yeah I like the Never Never say die kind of like just you know dig in uh when they had their back the wall some drives that were coming down the field one was after a turnover on the offense just you know looking at that as opportunity to to make a statement you know to just let everyone know that you know they got they got that mindset uh that they're gonna play together and uh you know it was really cool to see them get the shot out I was happy for them happy for happy for Kane and uh you know they all just they're all flying around you know there was some times we maybe missed a tackle but there was guys right there to follow up and and go make that play and as we said the two interceptions early in the game really set the tone with Keon both with field position just momentum and energy seems like an awful long time since you got hired before you get to coach your first game so when when when you finally get there and things are clicking so well and offense is making big plays defense is making big plays the first half I me was that fun was that kind of a relief on your shoulders what was that like yeah I think there was a little bit of fun at the very end you know and uh just seeing a lot of the young guys too get out there on the football field and and and have some fun of their own and experience it for the first time but um you know I told the guys in the locker room none of these points carry over to next week and there's a there's film out there and and of course there strengths we have but people are going to look at those areas they can attack and we got to continue to just you know uh understand that there's a lot of potential with this football team um but we still got a lot of work to do and it's it's uh going to be that way all season long you know and then and uh I think that what I saw in the locker room downstairs uh whether it was the beginning of the game the middle of the game when when we had a you know score very much in our favor uh these guys have a determination you know and a relentlessness about them where uh they want to be great you know they just don't want to go out there and do their thing for a half and kind of just let the let the score kind of die off and kind of let let someone hang around or you know they wanted the shut out they wanted to put more points in the board and uh I just love their mindset awesome thank you roll Tide all right there you heard from coach Kaylin dor phone lines open nine uh 205900 3832 we're going to try to hear from Clint lamb who who's at the facility right now and uh just kind of going over the numbers uh maybe uh trying to get um big Elmo back in too um he had some bad background noise but I know he wanted to chime in on this but look uh Jaylen milro uh surprisingly seven of nine 200 yards three touchdowns didn't really get to to run the offense very much because they hit so many big plays in this game comment section I see you guys are active and uh great to see all you guys too hanging out here Roll Tide um Benjamin and uh Joseph and Norman some of you guys are very familiar Bama fan hey good to see you too uh Terry you know like you said man very impressive performance uh Jersey Dolphins man good to see you um been been been part of the channel for years and no matter where I go I see Jersey Dolphins so good to see you again my friend uh David yeah very impressive Roll Tide so get in the um get in the comments section here's one right here uh very weird seeing our head coach smiling and laughing on the sideline I mean that is definitely a new thing I mean no doubt about it that is not uh the Nick Sabin style uh and and you know when you kind of look at the way that this ball game went it was uh domination we put the team stats right here Bama dominated uh 25 to 10 in the first downs um they gained him 600 to 145 and I don't even think Alabama had its best game uh but on the ground we knew that the the rushing attack was going to be really good and we didn't know that uh Kaden Proctor was going to be injured at the beginning of the the game before the game even started but we kept talking about on the channel we've talked about it Timeless time you know Timeless uh you know over and over again and what I said was that whoever loses that battle doesn't mean that uh you know that they're not going to be a contributor and and that's the you know kind of the crazy thing is that wilin forby and um uh Elijah Pritchard were both really important for the game all right let's go back to the phone lines again and uh Q cue the phone lines up big sexyo is that you hey man it's big sex I'm here can you hear me better now yeah I can hear you still little background but just go ahead and tell us what you thought about the game and and kind of after hearing dor your your thoughts man I'm sorry about the uh the technical issues but uh anyway no uh I I was listening to you there I don't think I've ever seen an Alabama coach um you know smile on the sidelines have you ever seen that no never never but um and how about the love for Ken conter getting injured in the pregame you go through the entire you do you go through the entire summer and and fall and then get injured in pregame but I thought Elijah pritchet uh came in at L tackling and did a pretty good job oh yeah yeah no doubt uh but uh you know first quarter you know I thought the Russa was around the ball a lot um um you know out of Carver Montgomery I mean he's a pretty good player s a couple interceptions he looked good it was concerning they move the ball well I'm talking about westu but uh that's uh you know third offensive possession we got off the field and it seemed like everybody calmed down um you know 14 points off the turnovers in open quarter but you know I'm concerned about posure you're losing 743 stns oh yeah uh you know a guy with a ton of experience you know um and then he moved into the second quarter in um you know uh Bama you know turned the ball over um but still the defense held up and and they missed the field goal uh I was impressed with James Smith along the defensive line he had a couple batted balls there in the opening half and then we can't uh forget about Brian W I mean uh the deu is loose couple of catches two touchdowns in the first half yeah I mean and that's that's really you know is as you look back on this game you know it's goingon to be that that that uh Ryan Williams had an amazing first game and uh you know that if you questioned what this guy brings to the table and and kind of what he represents uh two-time Mr Football in Alabama and and all the hype and everything else I mean he hasn't really I don't even think he's really learned how to even play the the position yet I just think he's he's going he's learning because I mean he's out on the field playing but I mean he hasn't even we haven't even gotten close to seeing what the potential is for this guy but it gives Alabama that that next big weapon uh that they're going to be able to uh rely on and uh it's exciting to know that they've got somebody that good that's going to be able to jump in and help out all right final thoughts and maybe we are you still let me see here let me you know there you go and and and uh the last three drives I think the offense here in the first half two plays for touchdowns last three drives everything clicked you can't complain 63 nothing Roll Tide hey Roll Tide brother we'll talk to you again tomorrow and uh have a fun night man have have a cold one for me tip it up for Alabama roll Roll Tide all right there's my buddy right there uh big sexy Elmo obviously having a good time tonight you guys can call in if you want to and we'll you know and kind of just chew on this thing but 205900 3832 kind of keeping an eye on some other games Notre Dame right now with 30 seconds left leads Texas A&M so number seven against number 20 and a lot of people wondering you know Notre Dame was an underdog and uh Texas A&M uh at home's always a tough place to play but it looks like they're going to come out of this with a win unless something improbable happens with 30 seconds left so you know what I'm I'm trying to get it on the TV here so I can I can catch the end of it with you but uh but the the games don't matter as much anymore and in one aspect and and the aspect is this that uh and I've got actually see Clint Lamb's going to jump on here in a second and and the aspect that with all of these new regular season you know the the postseason opening up uh you have a lot more people a lot more teams that can jump in so let me let me throw Clint on and see if um if we can get him dialed in and how he sounds I see he's out front of the stadium what's up Clint what's up fellas how y'all doing we're good man roll tied uh right outside of the stadium your thoughts on the kin dor era yeah I thought it was really interesting uh just how he attacks uh Western ky's defense the fact that you saw just an absurd amount of rotation and it wasn't like your typical rotation now they could have felt confident and how they were feeling about their chances of you know winning the football game and so they were willing to get into those rotations pretty early but I mean they were getting you know especially in the secondary a lot of guys in there offensive side of the football too a lot of receivers uh it was actually a lot of fun to watch um you know I was really impressed with the versatility of jihad Campbell that's something that we had kind of you know talked about and seen uh but just the fact that kind of Deontay Lawson's obviously the biggest leader of that group but I was pretty surprised at the fact that Jihad Campbell was kind of the guy that didn't come off the field uh you saw Justin Jefferson Sub in in passing situations you saw uh you know them get all three guys on the field at the same time but they did that Jad Campbell was the one that was moving around quite a bit they were allowing him allowing him to play Edge rusher and he was making an impact as a pass rusher and as an offall linebacker you know in coverage sideline to sideline ability you know chasing guys down so probably out of everybody you know Ry Williams is going to be the one that most people talk about uh Jaylen milro played a phenomenal game uh you know several different uh guys had really good performances but Jihad Campbell just from uh you know you you were expecting it to an extent but to what I saw to the degree that I saw it I mean I was just extremely impressed with Jad Campbell so really good first win for kayin dor and uh you know a lot of really good things on both sides of the football yeah look I was with you on Campbell I mean you number 11 was all over the damn field I mean it was like there were five of them I mean he he was if they were running the ball he was tackling the guy running the ball if the quarterback was back to throw it he was tackling him and then if there was a pass play somehow he's out there making that tackle as well what an impressive game for him him and and and then like you said you kind of worry like this guy's so intrical to this defense you know like maybe maybe give him a little rest but I I'm sure he was like Ray Lewis was back in the day uh for the Ravens watching him make all those plays you know to me and I know that the comparisons have been made uh in the past but it was very Micah Parson's esque you know just you know he's not the exact same player I don't think he's quite the pass rush that michah Parsons is um just because Parsons is on like a completely different level than you know most past rushers I mean a future Hall of Famer but just his ability to do a lot of those same things the fact that he wears the number 11 which is what you know michah Parsons both wore at Penn State and what he wears for the Dallas Cowboys you know and it wasn't what Parsons is really doing now it was like rookie year Parsons where he's playing off the ball he's lining up on the line of scrimmage he's getting after the quarterback it was just really impressive to see all the different things that he could do for Alabama's defense and through that versatility uh they were able to get a guy like you know Justin Jefferson involved in this thing too which I thought he played a pretty good game I thought Deontay Lawson played a phenomenal game it was just really cool and just I will say um you know a lot of the what we talked about we had asked questions like hey are we gonna see all three of these off ball linebackers on the field at the same time we did we had talked about you know how much are we gonna see uh of James Smith is he a guy who Subs in in obvious passing situations he absolutely did uh from really the first obvious passing situation of the game he came in as an interior pass rusher they kicked jaryan leam inside from the Bandit spot and then they brought in quandarius Robinson Quay rousa was the one who started the game at Wolf but it was actually quandarius Robinson who was kind of like their primary pass rusher in that you know uh uh down and distance you know third and long type of situations and then you had a guy like Jad Campbell kick over to be the other pass rusher you bring in Justin Jefferson on the field with Deontay Lawson uh just very impressed with you know not only the creativity to get all these guys involved but just how hard these guys play and the and that all stems from the fact that you have a lot of depth and you're willing to use that depth keep guys fresh and they were flying around tonight it was fun to watch how about Ryan Williams a lot of us have been talking about that on here I I don't remember a better debut for a true freshman that is supposed to be in high school ever in Alabama football history yeah you know was something you saw we were already hearing about what he was potentially going to do and I can go ahead and I guess in hindsight we can kind of talk about it when they started kind of mentioning that it was possible that Ron Williams could get some uh you know media availability as soon as maybe week three it's like they're not giving a media availability to you know a freshman especially if he's not playing so uh you know you immediately start to think okay maybe Ron Williams is gonna end up having an impact maybe a lot earlier than we thought I mean and and then you also say okay well how many how often have you really seen a player come out in this debut game regardless of who the opponent is and just completely shred him like you know uh like it was easy and that's exactly what Ryan Williams did I mean just his ability to win vertical that he add that aspect to the offense uh you know Jameson Williams had a lot of that ability you know somebody brought up on Twitter when I made the comparison to Jameson Williams which they're not the same player necessarily but just the fact that he makes the he has that vertical speed uh that just very few few guys have you know that was very j s to me and then someone mentioned he's kind of like a cross between Jameson Williams and Devonte Smith and I actually really like that because he brings elements of Devonte and elements of Jameson Williams and I'm not saying that he's going to be like you know that that combination would probably create the greatest wide receiver of all time and I'm not you know willing to go that far with Ron Williams at this point but just his skill set and what he can do for your offense you kind of saw both of it I mean people have criticized his size at 175 pounds and thought he might have trouble on this level at that size not only did Devonte Smith have a lot of success playing at the exact same weight is and has continued to have a lot of success playing at that weight in the NFL but you know uh Ryan Williams did a pretty good job of not only you know creating some separation downfield on one touchdown but on that second one he was able to break a tackle uh and find his way into the end zone again so I mean just this guy is such a special talent what he provides your offense I don't think people realize it's not just what he does for you it's what his presence will do for others and you know you saw a little bit of that tonight and I can't wait to go dive into the film and really see just how much of an impact he had because of that stuff but uh there it was evident that he certainly did have an impact in that area I can't wait to see uh you know what he has in store for him you know over the next couple weeks because that was uh that was probably as as green as you're going to get Ron Williams and from this point forward assuming he stays healthy I mean I I I mean I he might continue to get better from here all right we love super chats and we love Adam man I always uh love hanging out with Adam and all you guys we appreciate it though uh Mick need jingling flight uh I thought Ty Simpson looked mediocre what do you think $225 Super Chat man thank you man I'll get me lots of flights for that and Clint too he'll get some too uh Roll Tide and we got uh you know any any of you guys want to ask Clinton a a a question directly Super Chat get you right there out in front of Bryant Denny Stadium after Alabama's uh lopsided win today what did you think Ty Simpson looked mediocre to you or do you think it was maybe that the offensive line was like the second and third string o line well let me tell you what I didn't like about how things went down and who am I to criticize Kaylin deore so I'm not trying to that's not what I'm trying to do here just based off of what I was hoping to see uh based off what I saw I mean it was different and and the the the main difference there was the fact that you had Tod Simpson coming into the game he didn't come in with a first team offense I was hoping that we at least saw him play a little bit with the first teamers before they started pulling other guys to give him an opportunity to get comfortable with the first team in case something happens to to Jaylen milro but also um you know just from a a talent standpoint just what he can he could do with the starters but instead they started rotating a lot of other guys in there when they rotated him in uh I did see some good from him especially early on you know leading that you know first dve touchdown he looked comfortable he had great command of the offense from there you know it was a mixed back uh but you know to to an extent um you know I would probably expect that uh but at the same time you know we've we've criticized Jaylen milro for similar uh in the past so I don't think it would be fair to not you know point out the things that Ty Simpson did wrong uh in his first game of the season or his first action of the season I still think he's going to be a heck of a backup I still think that he's got starter ability if something were to happen on Jaylen milro but I think tonight only furthered everyone's belief that this is Jaylen mil's team and that you know to Simpson while we all think he could do a really good things if he was asked to be the full-time starter for one reason or another uh you know I don't think he's really threatening jayen mil which I isn't surprising anybody but uh at this point I mean he's just he is you know the clearcut backup all right another Super Chat here Clint uh Joseph just dropped in five bucks man thank you brother we appreciate all you guys for helping us out he said jayen milro looked good through his progressions he did yeah yeah you know and that that's the key right right I mean I don't think it was perfect I did think there was some stuff pre- snap you know the defense was bringing a guy off the edge um you know on on one snap it was I want to say it was a Upton Stout the nickel Corner uh I don't know if you know milro just didn't see it or if it was you know he didn't understand you know how that you know blitzing uh nickel could impact the play but it was just not the play you wanted to be in in that situation I'll have to go back and see exactly what went wrong there but see you saw a little bit of that but I mean I think to extent every quarterback has one or two of those plays uh no one sees everything even the you know the pton Mannings of the world but what I did see was a guy who was so much more comfortable just the growth that he's shown between the season opener last year and the season opener this year is just incredible and you know he did have a great command of the offense he was seeing things well I thought he delivered a lot of just fantastic balls you know he he has the arm I don't think he has an the elite of the elite arm strength but he can make throw that you would possibly ask of him on either the college or the NFL level and you know he put that on display tonight uh and you know that when you can include his legs and kind of what he can provide in that area it makes him a very dangerous person and I will say I was also very encouraged by the fact that you know you saw design quarterback runs which I was wondering how much of that we would see and we saw the uh offs script you know things breaking down around him him taking off he showed a willingness to run the football uh he seemed like he was embracing it more or you sprinkle in some design quarterback runs you sprinkle in the off scripts uh the Off Script stuff and then you throw in the fact that he's improving as a passer uh on top of all the weapons that Alabama has with Justice Haynes and jam Miller who both played fantastic too uh this is a very potent Alabama offense I think they're GNA do really good things yeah look this is this is a explosive group uh Clint and uh we saw that today I think they could get better in some areas but look man it's I know you you out in front of the stateum right now um I know you you probably need to get on the road but it's great to hear from you any final thoughts no just uh I think fans should be really encouraged it wasn't Perfect by any means you know the penalties that wasn't great um you know the inconsistencies the fact that the defense you know had that 21 play Drive where whether it be third down or fourth down they kept allowing Western Kentucky to move the football down the field you never want to see that but at the same time they got to stop down there in the Red Zone when they needed to so you know uh someone brought up on Twitter when's the last time we saw a 21 play Drive the in in a touchdown and that's uh I thought that was a pretty interesting point but it was uh just so much that you can take away from this whether it be offensively or defensively it is every bit as fun on both sides of the football to watch this team as we thought it was going to be and I'm sure there'll be some tough moments but you have to be encouraged I don't think you could have asked for really anything more because I mean 4817 was my prediction uh I did admit that if Ty Simpson came in and they let him operate the offense kind of normally that they could get up in the mid-50s or high 50s they end up at 63 because it's what happened and then on defense you know I I did not give this defense enough credit and I think they're playing really good football in the depth it's really going to show up uh on on Saturday so it's a really really really uh you know good team win for Alabama yep and the last Super Chat you just nailed it uh next king says um by week by week 10 this defense will be playing like veterans I I agree man look you you can't you can't just sit here and downplay a 6 three to nothing win even you're never going to have a game against another opponent with the rules the way they are where you you you know you beat him by a hundred or something you know but uh Clint thank you brother we we'll get back together again on Monday and uh pick it up with our cover Crimson show and uh I want to remind everybody that we want you to be there uh one o'clock on Monday when we talk about this we we start to change our Focus too uh but you can sign up for a dollar right now be a part of it now now it's on to South Florida it's time to move on brother hey it's good talking to you guys um you know I will be having my postgame observations up I haven't had a chance to because we did the pressers and then you know hopping on here with you but I'm actually been already been working on it a lot of thoughts and observations I'll be putting over there at cover crimson.ua.edu front of the stadium you know when you when you're doing this show like what what the what the scene is leaving the press conference and kind of getting a feel for that um all right let's let's just kind of hit these these numbers again guys because I just the way that the show kind of fell today uh I haven't really even taken a deep dive and and you know the phone lines are still open if you want to jump in and talk but uh Bama dominated in so many aspects first downs 25 to1 third Downs Bama was eight of 13 you know wondering like what that was going to look like one of one from fourth uh Western Kentucky was three of 18 total yards Bama absolutely crushed them this is the offense that we thought we would see 600 to 145 and I don't even think Alabama was half as good as they'll be by you know maybe two or three games into the season you know that you could tell that there was definitely some Rust but you get 600 yards I mean that's just explosive and they were doing it on the ground behind that offensive line 334 to 42 on the ground wow that's just unbelievable right Alabama averaged 7.1 yard per carry uh the penalties you know at the beginning of the game especially seven of 59 they were a little concerning for uh Alabama time of possession was right down the middle but it was because Alabama scored so fast and then when you look at the uh the the individual stats uh jayen milro really didn't even have an opportunity to do a whole lot uh seven of nine passing 200 yards three touchdowns no interceptions we talked about Ty Simpson who was uh five of nine 66 yards uh just came up in mop-up Duty uh you know in in in a game like this but running back wise how about this Justice Haynes four carries 102 yards he busted a hole on that touchdown run the uh the long which 85 yards which you saw everything that we like his ability to read the defense his ability to wait for the hole and then that explosiveness jam Miller doing it as well five carries 54 yards and a touchdown Haynes had a touchdown milro had two touchdowns running Ty Simpson had a touchdown running at quarterback Daniel Hill got to see a lot of Daniel Hill he he had the second most carries today behind milro he had more than any other running back nine carries 29 yards in a touchdown so it was a lot of fun seeing those guys now switching over to the wide receivers we got into this you guys have been fired up about this um yeah and I'm going to get to this right here too that this was on my notes so SS give me a chance here and then I'm gonna swing back to that but wide receiver wise there's never been a better debut in the history of Alabama football for a guy that's supposed to be in high school and he's a true freshman yeah I I I'm saying it right now I don't even know how many guys have even done that so it's not a stretch here but two catches for Hollywood Williams 139 yard yards everybody high five Roll Tide Willie for his assist and and bringing Ryan Williams home when it looked like maybe he was going to go somewhere else Kobe prenis three catches uh 43 yards um CA Caleb Odum had a couple of catches in the game Cedric law had a touchdown only one catch Jeremy Bernard had a catch um and you know and it was one of those games you you didn't see a lot of the guys U Manuel Henderson only a catch and it's because Alabama got the ball um and um you know and when he when they did we just scored so fast you know uh so here here here's the most important fact of the game one bad snap and that was a nice change of pace amen and it wasn't that Parker brailford was the only guy snapping the football he was one of the only guys I mean he did most of them but um it was great to have a clean snap it it gave uh milro just looked like he was so much more comfortable getting the ball from the center and it's because he was getting the ball from the center you know no excuses now we're not going to have to hear about somebody clapping hands we're not GNA have to you know be talking about well you know maybe we'll get it figured out maybe we won't like no we we got a great Center and that was uh you know that was a great thing and then uh chasing a bass QB room can run the ball I I think so too man Seth says uh my buddy LT with will never high five Willie I I will high five him with both both my hands two two hands um I I I enjoy Roll Tide Willie I know he's not everybody's taste but um you know it was just absolutely uh uh you know great to get Ryan Williams to come to Alabama and that's made such a big difference so uh a little look at the defense here Keon Sab we were talking about Keon Sab we said I think Clinton lamb we have to ask him about it on Monday on the show I think he predicted that Sab might have three interceptions he had two and he missed the third the you know it was there and it just he didn't not catch it but it was there and um he it he just he was like oh man I could have had that one you know on on a play now the other one of the other things I really liked was Cole Adams returning punts you know it felt like the last few years under Sabin the the guys really didn't want to return punts we just got a lot of fair catches hey I'll just catch it right here and and then we can just take it here and then when uh Kool-Aid was back there he he would you know run out of the way sometimes they want to touch the ball you know and then he he was out of that job by the end of the season Cole Adams is is that jav Arenas type guy in the aspect that you couldn't tell arenus not to try to catch and return the ball Christian Jones the guys that love to catch the ball and make a play and uh man I'm telling you that was absolutely great to see I'm me I'm really excited to to to you know watch the progress of Cole Adams returning kicks uh you know and um you know another great day for the Special Teams Graham Nicholson seven of seven uh Conor talty two of two James burnup three punts averaged uh 50 yards a punt you know everything that uh yeah look I'm gonna throw throw it up here Benjamin's got it man he is gonna break more than one he's going to break more than one that you you first thing is that you have to have uh just the the mentality when you returning those punts that you want it that you want the smoke and and if you can get past that because it's the scariest thing that you do on a football field you can make plays and to me you know we I think jav arenus is the best one I ever saw do it at Alabama but there were a lot of other guys that were really good at it too and um you know that's that's exciting now on an injury front Chris wants to know uh update on Proctor we have not gotten an update we just know that he was injured shoulder before the game in a sling had ice on it um let let's put it like this who knows what this what this is or what this is going to be but at the end of the day it's probably good that it happened now because if it's something that he can bounce back from maybe you get him back in time and help healthy to play some of those big games because you're going to want him in there against Wisconsin you're going to want him in there against Georgia but I'll tell you what the offensive line just they they they just jumped right in wilin forby and Elijah Pritchard battled it out for that right tackle spot and guess what i' I've been saying it on the channels for for weeks it did not matter to me who won or lost this job because I thought that this is a position you're going to need somebody to jump in and that is exactly what happened and unfortunately it happened before we even got on the field so these guys went through and then boom you know there they are out there uh you know starting this uh you know this season uh playing all right let me run through the SEC scores for you uh for you guys I I'll even throw them up on the screen so you can kind of watch them with me uh but I mean I I'm sure most of you have seen this but just in case uh some some one game in progress and then I think everything else is is a final except until tomorrow night so um here we go we got Kentucky beating up on Southern Miss 24 nothing that's in the third quarter Notre Dame uh a tie game at half they outscore Texas A&M 23-13 uh of course Notre Dame's quarterback Riley Leonard from Fair Hope I live in Fair Hope so hey good for him man great guy transferred from duke and then goes in there in his Notre Dame debut and wins he didn't have an impressive game but it you know what made plays when they needed to and that's a big win for Notre Dame and Texas A&M obviously comes up short uh Georgia pounded Clemson I thought the score did was even indicative to the the lopsided win that was for the number one team in the country 34-3 kind of reminded me of an Alabama win with Nick Sabin Texas 52 to nothing over Colorado State of course Bama 63 to nothing over Kentucky uh oh miss flexing against Ferman 76 to zip Tennessee pounding Chattanooga 69 to3 Miami beat Florida Florida Gators are in a in big big trouble they are in big big trouble 41- 17 and uh in overtime Vandy I watched this game what a huge win for the commodor they got the entire New Mexico State staff and players there for that beat Auburn last year and they do it again in overtime they beat the hokes of Virginia Tech 3427 South Carolina got by Old Dominion 2319 uh I I know Old Dominion can be tough but man if you're South Carolina you got to be winning those games a little more handily and then Auburn 73 to3 over Alabama A&M that was a lopsided matchup 56 to7 Mississippi State uh Thursday Missouri pounded Murray State 51 to nothing in Arkansas over Pine BL that same day 70-3 uh welcome to the SEC Oklahoma 51 to3 and then the big matchup tomorrow man we get some football on a Sunday 6:30 USC against LSU I can't wait to check that out it's going to be a lot of fun to uh to watch a little football uh on a Sunday I wish they did that every Sunday to be honest with you and and SS you're right Napier is in big trouble and I feel sorry for him because uh they they they they really mistreated Dan Mullen like they didn't like him because he couldn't recruit and the year before 2020 Mullen got to the SEC Championship game and that was like Alabama's toughest test to me was that game against Florida in Atlanta and then all of a sudden the next year you take a step back and so they fire you and now it's just a it's a dumpster fire and it's a tough it's a really tough schedule but this isn't the Florida of Tim too um they might mid game I hope I hope he doesn't get the lane kein where he shows up to after the game to get on the plane and they just don't even want him on there uh pretty pretty bad way to go uh all right guys thank you for being part of what we're doing here at cover crimson and again uh sign up for a dollar we'll be back after the game next week Clint and I will be on with you uh Monday through Friday at 1 o'clock uh Jake Coker and I will do elephant in the room I'll be back in town so we'll be able to do that when live you know how he likes or at least in person he likes to do that um and then Mike Johnson's on there now you got uh Chris and Clint doing a show Stacy's on as well so we got a lot of people that are that are part of this Jim Dunaway and uh and Tyler Watts Lance Taylor and uh Aaron subtle so I mean you're on this channel you're getting a lot of content and we appreciate it so like And subscribe give us a thumbs up all you guys that gave us a super chat today thank you really means a lot and we appreciate all of you guys for being here so final score today Alabama with a thunderous win uh the debut of kayin dor 63 to nothing what an intro for Alabama's new head coach next Saturday they'll take on South Florida that's another game at Bryant Denny before they head to Wisconsin to take on the Badgers and Madison that's going to be fun so we got some some really fun games coming up but at the end of the day one step forward to a team that I think has a
