well first what will be the biggest match in Jack Draper's career there is absolutely no doubt about it just a few hours to go until he takes on world number 10 Alex stor in the US Open quarterfinals it would be his first ever Grand Slam semi where he would play either the world number one yanx zenner or D meddev for a place in the final at Flushing Meadows so you can watch every shot live on Sky Sports around 7 tonight let's head back to Daniel khah who is in New York for us yes welcome back to Flushing Meadows we're building up to Jack Draper quarterfinal against Alex deor and who better to do that than our very own Tim Henman Tim lovely to see you first of all it'll be the first time Jack Draper steps out here at Arthur rash I mean what an occasion it'll be for him yeah absolutely and and uh I'm sure Jack would have had the opportunity to practice out here because it is the biggest stadium in our sport it's obviously the the same size within the lines but Outside the Lines you know it's it's a big big court and and um you know visually to get the depth perception it takes a little bit of adjusting too so uh um having said all of that you know it's such an exciting opportunity it's why you put the hard works the hard work on the the practice court and in the gym and on the track to to be in Grand Slam quarterfinals um you know playing a massive match I was listening to the Sky Sports tennis podcast and you were talking about how you spoke to Jack you know a bit after the Australian Open I just wonder what do you think's been the key to his progression this year yeah I think um you know the team around him working in all the different areas I mean uh there's always been a very good tennis player and and I think potentially a good athlete but but uh you know he's had some bumps uh in the road he's had those injuries that he's had to overcome but now you know his game has developed um he's got a huge game um and I think athletically he's uh he's looking so physically good on the court he's stronger and faster and and uh you know built up the physical resilience because to play on the tour week in week out you you've got to be strong and now he's you know avoided a lot of those injuries and therefore he's been able to you know build a lot of momentum played very well in Cincinnati a couple of weeks ago and and the he's come through the the first four matches here in Flushing Meadows has been very impressive um but he's got a tough match today let's talk about his opponent today Alex Dior 10th seed of course lot Brits might have seen him at Wimbledon but he had to pull out of his qus final because of a hip injury I think a lot of people thought he might not be here at the US Open because of that injury but he looked like he's moving pretty well yeah he's one of the fastest guys out there and and as you say it was frustrating for him to miss that quarterfinal match at Wimbledon um but he's back playing great tennis he's he's top 10 in the world the rankings don't lie um he obviously played Dan Evans here in in the third round when Evans really just sort of ran out of gas and and um you know he's he's play Jack on three occasions and he's deodor has won on all all all three of those matches but they've been very close and and I think the experience from Jack having played deor um he'll benefit from that he'll know the way that deor likes to play um so it's important that Jack really goes out there and concentrates on the way uh he wants to sort of implement his style he's got to use his Lefty serve he's got to look to you know dictate from the back of the court but but also appreciate that demono is going to make him play a lot of balls because he is so quicker um at the back of the court but uh again this is um it's another great test for for Jack um you know irrespective of what happens you know hopefully he goes on you know to make his first semi-finals but if he doesn't um it's been a huge tournament in in Jack's development I mean then Tim I mean you were the last Englishman to be here at the US Open in the quarterfinals of course made the semi-finals yourself but I mean for Jack rewriting the history books a little bit I mean what's it like for you to see such a young player progress as he brilliant look to to be here working for Sky Sports and have you know British players to follow it makes it even more exciting and and uh you know this is going to be the first of many quarterfinals for Jack and um because he's you know still very young and you look at where his game can improve um there's a lot of areas that can get better and and he will also um get better with experience that you know he hasn't played much Slam Tennis so uh you know a great opportunity it's exciting for him it's exciting for us and and can't wait for it to get going Tim hman thank you so much as Tim said there incredibly exciting for all of us here at Flushing Meadows and I'm sure exciting for everyone back at home he'll be second up here on uh off the rash and it'll all be live on Sky Sports tennis so let's just get a feel for how he's looking Jack Draper 6'4 left-hander world number 25 and in alexo he plays his first seed at this tournament where he hasn't actually dropped a set yet uh yeah he's got through in stra has not even pushed to a 75 set nowhere near a tiebreak he's been very much in control but this will be a different test as you heard from Tim hemond there one of the quickest guys on tour and he's you know the the Road Runner if you like of the uh of the ATP Tour but remember that that Jack Draper is very comfortable on these courts third round a couple of years ago fourth round last year quarterfinal at least this year but can he make it to a semi-final he's already had statan victories in this breakthrough season of the likes of Carlos alz Stephanos s pass Francis TFO who is also by the way already through to a US Open semifinal but for either Jack Draper or Alex deor one of them will reach their Maiden Grand Slam semi-final as a result of this match looks pretty composed wants that big serve to fire that tricky left-hander serve it's always difficult to face and hope that all of his other weapons uh just really function properly and are just give give Alex the inor that really tough test that this match deserves by the way we reckon about sort of 7 p.m. R time could go long this one don't be surprised this goes to five sets [Music]
