[Music] four of the top 10 teams in college volleyball took to the court for the first serve showcase at the Yum Center W drb's Tyler griver takes us through Louisville's big win over number three Wisconsin to start the season so how much can we really learn in the first game of a season well when it comes to Louisville volleyball I I don't know if you want to say that you learned anything new because this is what this program has really made its name on it it's great RIT its toughness it showed uh against Wisconsin a program that UFL lost to in the 2021 final four but in the second game of the ABCA showcase at the KFC Yum Center Louisville went down a set and then just ripped off three straight to beat the Badgers reys Robbins came up big in a lot of different moments in her first game as a sophomore and then of course the old reliables right Anna deir arguably the best player in program history coming up uh with some big plays and then charity Looper who transferred in last year showing she could be a force again this year this Cardinal team is serious but it's still staying true to itself that's just kind of how Louisville volleyball has worked I mean we obvious obviously aren't the most physical team yeah we have some players but we really work on the grit and the mental toughness because if we can come together as a team and I think volleyball's a really big team sport and if you have that culture and that's kind of what we Thrive upon is that culture and that we call ourselves a unit um so I think if we have that that's just going to help us really push and kind of finish those games we're older we've really challenged these two right here to be better and big moments and in different parts of their games and to see that accomplished on night one against Wisconsin who's a fabulous team and program um they set the bar high and again very excited to see what else we can do of course this was really a special night for Louisville head coach Danny Busom Kelly as a whole her mentor John Cook obviously still the head coach of Nebraska one of the prominent volleyball programs in The Country Cook actually said busp Kelly who who played for him who coached under him has pulled off the best turnaround the greatest turnaround in college volleyball boss Kelly says she was honored to to hear that she also took him to chural Downs while he was here that is how you know you care about your Mentor we can take him on the tour of the backside but reporting from the KFC y center I'm Tyler griver for WDRB Sports UK faced number two ranked Nebraska last night in the Showcase the Wildcats LED for much of the opening set but dropped that one 2521 they regrouped and were able to take the second set 2522 the Huskers scored seven straight Midway through set three and won that 25- 15 Nebraska would close things out and set four 25 to 20 and beat the wild cats in three sets to one
