Linkin Park - Brad Delson : « "Papercuts" rassemble certains de nos moments préférés »

like I think paper cuts is different because it's bringing all of our favorite some of our favorite moments together into one [Music] package I don't think it's about the end of a relationship I think it's about like a really critical juncture in a relationship where things are going very very poorly or just very difficult sometimes just being in relationship with people you know we can by accident we can cause [Music] pain this song particularly is about pain in a relationship with someone you love that you know you're supposed to care about and and treat well and so what happens from there and I think like the song really stares into the precipice of like how a relationship can evolve and I think ultimately while it's a there's a Darkness to it and a real pain in it I think the through line in the song is really hope and optimism that even in a really dark time we can we can come back to love or through love so yeah there's a lot lyrically going on in the song a lot of layers and the emotion is really strong and and the vocal performance is really [Applause] spectacular I remember when we were recording this like we got a particularly special recording of Chester's vocal it was funny cuz when we were looking when we were talking about putting this singles collection together we wanted to include something new I wasn't even aware of anything that would really like be of this kind of you know magnitude or special I'm really stoked that people get to enjoy it and I love the video too I feel like the video um which was directed by our friend Mark fiori like that was also very surprising to me how he had all that footage and like you really get a sense of like the camaraderie and the love the creat all the creative uh passion that goes into making something and I feel like he was able to visually capture that and I think it it really elevates the songer I think this paper cuts album is really special when we played shows the songs would get mashed together and put together like different albums different eras on stage that's the time for this music to come together however like in terms of like an actual piece of work the songs were of all always been kind of living in their own ecosystems in their own little mini universes and so like this is a really unique way especially just based on the love that we felt from our fan base around the Hybrid Theory package we created the Meteora package we created like I think paper cuts is different because it's bringing all of our favorite some of our favorite moments together into one package it's a different lens through which to look at all of the music we've had the privilege of making together and celebrate it friend it's known because we played it in Japan and the lpu our fan club knows of this song we've never officially released this song I don't know why we decided to stop making the album and go to Japan and play shows like that seems like a very un counterintuitive thing to you know stop what you're doing but that's what we decided to do and we wanted to play a new song that no one had heard and I think the song was finished like on the airplane going over there and we were looking for like again what would be really special to include on this album that people don't [Music] have I was very surprised at like it's got a really dope energy so different Friendly Fire like I think that's also what's so interesting is like I think some artists are really known for like one particular sound and like while like we definitely have some like elements in our music that I think we're known for if you listen to this compilation the singles collection I mean there's so so much variety on here like if you just took quy and friendly fire you would other than like recognizing the vocals you would literally think this is two different genres of music or two different bands and I think that's what's kept us really engaged it's like when you go surf like you're always like every wave is different and I feel like when we go into the studio we're always looking for like what's unique or what we haven't experienced before and always kept you know kept us coming back and I think it's fun to celebrate the variety of songs that we've made throughout our career and many of which are included on this compilation [Music]
