Penn State vs. West Virginia Predictions & Bets Week 1 NCAA College Football 8/31/24

got one of the bigger games this big noon Saturday on Fox uh Penn State West Virginia Penn State eight and a half Point Road favorites and Morgantown 51 and a half the total in this game so the biggest fear I have for West Virginia is there is a gap on defense with these two teams Penn State does have an elite defense they should have one of the better defenses in college football this year make no mistake about it and will Garrett green who I like I like Garrett green I like what I saw from him at the quarterback spot for West Virginia last year will they be able to do enough in the passing game against this great loaded uh Penn State Defense that was third in the country last year 14 points per game allowed that's going to be the big question but I still you know on the road laying almost doubles Penn State's offense that's the key Nick Singleton and K TR Allen are outstanding running backs but they do lose their top receiver they only have two starters back on the o line and all I've heard all Camp long from this new offensive coordinator at Penn State is we're going to finally throw the ball down down the field we're going to take shots in the passing game down the field I'll see it before I believe it that was check down Charlie all year Drew Aller last year at the quarterback spot for Penn State I mean everything was short to intermediate everything was Dink and dunk it's like he was scared out of his wits to throw the ball down the field I'm going to have to see the explosiveness in the passing game from Penn State before I'm ready to believe it I do lean West Virginia here as a home dog I am concerned because their defense is not what Ben States is that um there is a pretty decent Gap there as far as the um as far as it's concerned but I think it's one of those deals where I like um West Virginia getting these points eight and a half I think it's a solid number it's a tough place to play and we know what it's like sometimes with Penn State laying points on the road against a capable opponent like this isn't Ohio State good uh obviously or Michigan but West Virginia is a capable team and Neil Brown turned that team around last year their offense with green should be good do I have concerns about defense for them yeah of course because that was where they kind of weren't as good last year West Virginia but I think when you look at their team they do bring back four starters on D but and that does concern me but like I said um I would still look maybe toward West Virginia here what do you think CAC with Penn State West Virginia this is one that you know going through it was a wait you know cuz uh I do think Penn State's loaded but you know how you just hit on it when I West Virginia is in their backyard you know as a dog you know over a touchdown Green back the offense was pretty good White's back he's got some receivers and Clement does uh does greed so you know but can they score here on this Penn State Defense is but when Penn State ever stepped up they they could get torched there obviously those top teams you know Ohio State some others but yeah the defense overall was really good last year uh and should be good again all's back he's got a bunch of weapons uh so they should be able to to move the ball this is a tough tricky game for Penn State where they might win but not cover you know in this one we'll see if they go in there and win big that would be a pretty good statement you know because and week one dogs like this but are a little bit weird even though West Virginia has some of the talent back in that we know it's always a little bit how the offense is going to flow you know just in in the first game of the year you know where it's like if this was like when they get going week five or six where this would be real appealing yeah that's a great game though Saturday I'm looking forward to watching that
