a global outage impacting major airlines hospitals and even 911 call centers we want to go right to Austin Carter who is tracking this emergency system outage Austin what do you know what can you tell us yeah and we're still getting a lot of information here rolling in this morning of course this all happening really during the overnight hour so a lot of folks are waking up with us and maybe having issues getting onto their Windows platforms this morning but you mentioned those 911 call centers we're hearing that is a number of the entities impacted by this outage right now and some of the issues that developed in the overnight hours I can tell you at least here in South Florida we have been making calls uh since very early this morning and it appears that this point those 911 operation centers are working this morning here in South Florida one of our our uh assistant news directors here on the morning show actually called 911 herself they said that uh they are able to receive calls and she was able to get through so it appears those systems are functioning this morning but a big thing folks are likely going to notice this morning are issues with their computer and we'll be honest here at our station we had trouble getting on to a lot of our systems you'll be seeing some differences with the morning show this morning as we try to get on and I'm going to be transparent here and show you because I'm not even able to show you what I can normally show you from the alert desk I'm going to switch over this is the computer I normally show you in the mornings where we pull up Twitter and things like that to give you a visual this is what a lot of folks are seeing this blue screen from Windows that says windows will not load correctly a lot of folks say they've tried to restart their computers and have not been a able to and this is what we're also dealing with here this morning so this is a common theme if you Lo load up X or Facebook this morning you'll see a lot of people posting pictures of this and that's what folks are dealing with there so as we're Gathering some of this information there this morning we know that a lot of folks are being impacted on those Microsoft systems just as we're showing you here and a lot of these reported outages are possibly being L linked to crowd strike and that may be a part of these Global outages that are impacting uh companies Airlines businesses who are all this morning scrambling to get back on track now I had a couple of elements to show you tweets and things like that but again this is even impacting what we do here this morning to bring you the news so we're working to gather some more details about this outage I'm checking in with a number of our sources at CBS CNN trying to get uh you know more information about these outages and how this is impacting infrastructure but again at least here in South Florida when it comes to those 911 call centers they appear to be working but of course this is something that's going to be impacting a number of places from businesses to airports and things like that
