the fem Nikita or just Nikita which is the actual title of the film is directed by Luke Besson who is more well known for directing Leon the Professional The Fifth Element and Valerian in the city of a thousand planets it's a great example of how to write a good character it more or less aderes to the classic hero's journey structure and there is actual character growth believe that the character of Nikita in this film specifically there have been several remakes and TV shows might just belong with the other great female leads in the cinema such as Ripley and the alien franchise and Sarah Conor in The Terminator franchise but your mileage may vary Nikita is a severely flawed character but under goes intents training and supervision and hones her skills in order to become ready for the task ahead it's a somewhat grounded and realistic feeling film that makes the world and Nikita's actions seem relatively believable there's plenty of action and enough interpersonal drama that kept me invested in the characters Besson wrote the character of Nikita with lead actress and peralo in mind Nikita is an addict and along with a group of Ruffians tries to rob a pharmacy drugstore but they're interrupted Midway by the police through a series of events Nikita ends up at an unnamed agency and is trained to be an assassin paralo is great as Nikita and the difference between her Persona at the beginning of the film and later on is quite Stark character is both uncontrolled and to a certain extent uncontrollable although her agent Handler known as Bob played by Cy Cario does manage to Wrangle Nikita into a more focused and skilled assassin Bob's boss doesn't want Nikita her at the agency but Bob does everything in his power to not only keep her there but make sure she is ready to do the agency's bidding in the process of training her he developed some kind of feelings for her although what the nature of those feelings are is not really developed in great enough detail as by that stage she is more or less ready to go out into the world and do her duty while she waits for instructions from Bob Nikita tries to create a normal life for herself and gets into a relationship with grocery store employee Marco played by Jean Hughes on glad Nikita is still her own person but struggles to balance her personal life with her professional one as I said before there are several great action scenes including a great gunfight in the kitchen there's also a good amount of drama between Nikita Marco and Bob the relationship between these three is what makes the film interesting as there is an undercurrent of a sort of love triangle between all three Bob's feelings for Nikita are unrequited but they're still something undefined that's just under the surface between them which complicates matters with Marco and this bance that Nikita has to have between her personal and professional life Jean Reno makes an appearance about halfway through the film and brings a great dark comedic element to it his introduction does change the mood and dynamic of the film a little bit but by that stage I was fully on board with the story being played out so I was happy to just go along with it it was one tiny quibble I had with one very quick scene concerning a brick wall but it didn't really take me out of the film and Jean Rena's character was there for a reason and Nikita's experience with him drives the story forward M Nikita is a great film definitely one to watch if you haven't seen it yet if you enjoyed the video don't forget to like And subscribe and I'll see you on the next video
