Ladies and gentlemen, here is the moment we have all been waiting for. Representing in blue, white and red. France. Please welcome to the mat Nacer, 'L'HandiCapable' Zorgani. Hello everyone, my name is Nacer Zorgani I’m 38 years old, I originate from Algeria, and grew up in Marseille. I now live in Paris and I represent France in Para Judo in the 90kg+ category for the visually impaired at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games. I have a degenerative disease. It is a progressive degeneration of the retinal cells which caused me to lose my vision at the age of 17 but, my disability has always been my drive, throughout my life. It is always pushed me to do things, I always believed that I was capable of doing things, hence my little nickname Nacer 'L'HandiCapable'. So I presented 235 matches at the Olympic boxing tournament at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. It was an incredible experience and in terms of inclusion, it’s a strong message that we are sending to all promoters to everyone. Boxing, the world of sports, having a sports presenter who cannot see the ring or the athletes presenting the matches and motivating the crowd is quite exceptional. I think this is where together, collectively with Paris 2024, we succeeded in telling a very good story, and it was a team effort. In fact my sports practice has evolved with my vision, and so losing my sight has not been a problem because martial arts, taught me to lose my sight, to develop a mental vision, to manage space, the body, and I think that’s what’s helped me in judo today, to learn very quickly. Because I learn very, very quickly. I have a memory that is quite curious actually. After representing boxing and transitioning to judo, I paraded on Champs Elysees for the opening ceremony I’m still on cloud nine. In fact, it’s simple, in life you know where you come from and where you’re going, it will be so magical to finish the games with a gold medal, around my neck, at home, with my friends, my colleagues and the volunteers from Paris 2024. I think about it every day and I tell myself that this is my goal. So will I achieve it? Will I not? We’ll see. But for now my goal is gold or nothing!
