BUT FIRST... GOOD AFTERNOON... I'M ANN NYBERG. THE DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY AND ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION HAS IDENTIFIED THE MAN KILLED IN A BOATING ACCIDENT IN OLD SAYBROOK. BUT CREWS ARE STILL LOOKING TO RECOVER TWO MISSING MEN. NEWS 8'S BRITTANY TAYLOR IS AT SAYBROOK POINT WITH THE LATEST DEVELOPMENTS. BRITTANY? The recovery mission for those 2 missing men resumed this morning around 8am. Officials are using sonar technology in this search and divers are once again out on the water. Meanwhile - DEEP has identified the man found dead on the boat as 34-year-old Christopher Hallihan of Westbrook. Here's what we know so far about this investigation. The 31-foot-motorboat was coming back from Block Island Monday night - when it crashed into the jetty of the mouth of the Connecticut River. 9 people in total were onboard. Six of them were rescued and taken to the hospital for treatment, including the boat's operator who at last update was in critical condition. One man was found dead. Encon Police- a division of DEEP- pulled the boat out of the water yesterday. They are now examining it closely. News 8 spoke with the owner of the Saybrook Point Inn, who has written to the coast guard numerous times asking to light the area as he's witnessed many accidents there. "So there is more than people realize there is an incident here. About 20 years ago, I petitioned the Coast Guard that they add a lighted buoy at the mouth of the break water which they added. We also requested that they paint the spindle which is on the northeast corner of east break water in order for it to be visible." 9:47:08- 9:47:29 Again the search here at Saybrook Point continues for the two missing men who remain unaccounted for.
