One man is dead at Newport News in what police are calling a domestic related shooting. It happened early this morning at Heritage Forest Apartments, Emily Harrison has the latest on the investigation. Neighbors tell me they're not exactly sure what happened last night, but it seems to them that the center of this investigation is on this apartment building behind me and Newport News. Police say that this is a domestic violence situation. Newport News, police officers and forensics teams walked in and out of this Newport News apartment following a shooting at around 4 a.m. Sunday morning. Neighbors say they woke up in shock as many of them did not hear any of the gunshots. They say they only saw the red and blue lights alerting them something was wrong. It was like 1015 police officers and the tech was out here. It looked like it happened in the apartments over there. Many of the details are limited at this time but investigators confirm that the victim and the alleged suspect are relatives though they did not specify the relationship. Police say they got the because of an argument that spiraled out of control and that eventually led to several gunshots. By the time first responders got to the apartment building, investigators say they found the victim, a gun at the scene and the alleged suspect who they later took into custody. It's a type of violence neighbors say they don't often see it's shocking like, like stuff that stuff don't happen over here. It's a quiet kid neighborhood, Newport News. Police say at this time they are not looking for any other suspects and that charges could be pending for the alleged suspect in Newport News.
