so the Apple Watch series 10 is finally here and I had some time handson with it and I have to say it is so incredibly thin and so incredibly light it's really hard to capture that on video and really show just how different it is but for something that you're wearing all the time maybe if you're sleeping with it just that much thinner and that much lighter can make a huge difference similarly if you're running or doing any other workout like thinner and lighter is better if you're wearing long sleeves again like I'm wearing a Garmin watch right here and I can never really pull my sleeves over that so thinner and lighter seems like a subtle incremental Improvement but it is a massive step honestly when you're wearing this watch additionally even though it is thinner and lighter we have a bigger display and you know there's two different sizes here the 42 and the 46 mm but on the 46 mm even though this is a lighter thinner watch the display is actually bigger than the Apple watch Ultra 2 which I think is really quite impressive when you actually look at what this device is but other than that like that's kind of the surface level what's different about about this watch but there's a lot of other things that I noticed that are a little more nuanced so in this video I want to go over 16 different things that you need to know about the Apple Watch series 10 starting off with the display like I said bigger with thinner bezels but in addition to that it's also a wide-angle OLED which offers better off angle viewing so if you're running and you glance at your wrist from an angle you should be able to see it a lot better in daylight so it's going to be brighter and easier to see from those off angles next the colors that are available for this watch there's three in aluminum which is no surprise aluminum is the standard material for the watches for the past quite a few Generations but it's jet black rose gold and silver and those are starting at $399 and that's with the GPS version you could always upgrade that to Cellular but what I think is very interesting is the premium version so typically we had stainless steel it was a lot more expensive and with that you know you'd always get cellular that was kind of the standard but they're replacing stainless steel now with titanium which I think is kind of a trade-off some people really liked the heavier watch cuz it did feel like a stainless steel watch just feels nice it feels very premium but titanium is also obviously a very premium material and yet it's a lot lighter so still very strong but much lighter and they're offering this in three different colors so no more stainless steel now titanium is the premium option here available in natural gold and slate these are $699 and they all come with GPS and cellular so not just GPS another interesting thing that Apple did here is the back is actually metal now instead of glass um so kind of a subtle change there most people won't notice when you're wearing it and the speakers on here so this is again kind of a common theme here it is a thinner watch the speakers are going to be something that really does need to change and if you look at the older watches it was kind of just one big stripe where the speaker was but we have some pretty nice improvements with the speakers here rather than that it's kind of an array of kind of holes as you can see it's really kind of tough to capture that on camera actually in the lighting at this event but this does allow us now also to like use the watch as a media player so I'm not sure when most people would be doing that I'm sure as I use the watch more I'll find more use cases but it's not just for Siri or for answering phone calls now I mean hopefully it's better for those as well but now you can listen to podcasts and music say you're driving you get out of your car and you want to like listen to the rest of the podcast while you're carrying groceries in like it should be able to do that reasonably well so you can at least hear you know like what's going on in a podcast other than that there are a lot of cool software things on this watch the series 10 gets the oceanic Plus app that's a depth app it goes up to 20 ft deep so you no longer do you have to get the Apple watch Ultra if you're doing a lot of like snorkeling or or just kind of low-level casual diving at like your lake house or something like that it'll automatically turn on when you go in the water as you start to go down it tells you the water temperature and of course it's going to tell you some depth statistics how deep you are what the deepest you went was and different things like that speaking of kind of aquatic nautical things anyone who goes surfing or fishing in general uh would really like the tid zap which is really cool I've kind of been playing around with it I believe it gives you either seven or 10 days so pretty pretty long uh you know forecast for the tides there you can go through and check out like what the swell is uh when the sunrise and sunset is and can really kind of map out when you want to go surfing or when you want to go out and do whatever you're doing uh in any kind of salt water like that also kayak and canoe you can now show a route map as well as your speed uh so it should be able to like help you stay on course if you're trying to navigate somewhere on a kayak uh I think maybe like a rowboat would probably be a good example of that um or like if you're doing crew like any kind of like rowing like that I think that'd be pretty cool again not something I do a ton of but I am excited to try that out I do have a kayak and I will definitely be testing that the big feature here I actually can't believe I haven't mentioned this yet in the video is actually sleep apnea detection now this is something that I've we've kind of been seeing on more smart Rings more smart watches this is the year of sleep apnea detection which I'm I'm all for I'm really happy about it so many people have it I think it's like 80% of people are undiagnosed most with sleep apnea like the people who have it uh and it's like you know 25% of men or some crazy number like that a lot of people have it and most people don't know about it and it can really affect your health so from what I understand I was told this uses the accelerometer uh to determine the Sleep disturbances throughout the night I think that's what they're doing I would really be surprised if they weren't using the spo2 sensor but in the United States with the whole mimo thing uh I think that's like I don't know I don't know exactly where they are on that if they if they're going to settle soon um but at least right now in the US I'm pretty sure they have to only use the accelerometer for this and maybe other parts of the world can use your blood oxygen levels under the hood we have the S10 that's going to be powering everything on here of course you should be expecting some speed upgrades a couple new abilities uh for example like it's using more neural network so AI basically uh to improve your phone calls meaning if you answer a phone call from your wrist which already had a pretty good microphone in the past now it should be even more clear for anybody on the other end we also have faster charging on here so even though we're getting the same battery life of 18 hours which is I don't know people like it's a popular watch people are used to that I wish it was longer like this Garmin watch has like a 14-day battery life so that's definitely a trade-off if you're using you know an everyday Smartwatch like the Galaxy watch pixel watch Apple watch but what I'm happy about here is the faster charging so in 30 minutes you get 80% charge which should get you through a whole day which means if you take this off while you shower and like brush your teeth and I don't know whatever 30 minutes is not that along you should be good to go for the day which means you can sleep with this watch and not have to charge it all night other cool software features they added the smart stack is now improved uh to add new widgets and kind of change throughout the day so I think the example they gave was if a rainstorm is coming it'll bring that to the top of your smart stack and show you the weather and kind of just be more adaptive and more useful without you having to go through and check every single item in your stack there's some other new watch faces as well like the new photos face should curate like the best photos again using AI on the back end there's other new watch faces too I'm not a big like a I don't know that's just a little software thing if you like the watch faces cool but I don't know doesn't really matter much to me there is a translate app again another like AI is such a big thing for all these new tech launches this year um but that that's coming to this watch too right Apple's now launching the translate app on the watch uh a little bit more convenient if you're trying to just talk to somebody uh I don't know like an Airbnb host in another country or something like that could be convenient to have on your watch so yeah that's a summary of the Apple Watch series 10 a lot of incremental changes to the watch that although some people might say oh it's the same watch as before I think it actually is quite different I'm excited to use it and really get it in the studio do a lot more testing for the accuracy of the GPS and the heart rate as well as test out the sleep apnea and other tracking that this thing has I'm very excited about it I think it's really a step in the right direction Apple watches for a while have been kind of considered in the Forefront of SmartWatches I personally think that there's a lot they do right especially from the software as ects and so this just making those incremental improvements kind of keeps them on that front line of SmartWatches and I'm really happy to see that otherwise there is a new Apple watch Ultra too one little kind of note right here um it is kind of the same as all the other Apple watch Ultras like there's the only difference is they added a new finish it's now black uh so it's titanium black finish looks really nice in my opinion actually my favorite one uh but again I will be testing that in the future I'll probably be comparing it cuz there's always new feature updates dropping so again like thep app and things like that were added to the watch Ultra 2 as well uh but like the older watch Ultra 2s should also be getting that as a software update so if you enjoyed this video and you want to know more about the Apple Watch series 10 be sure to get subscribed I will be doing a lot of comparisons and let me know in the comments below what I should actually compare this watch to thanks for watching I'll see you in the next video
