getting on we're going to a huge game at the Emirates next as Arsenal kickoff the weekend against Brighton both clubs won their opening two games of the Season some suggestion on social media that Marino picked up some kind of yes uh very unfortunate yesterday he had a collision and uh he's got a shoulder injury unfortunately and U it looks like he going to be out for a few weeks yeah first session with us yeah that's really bad Lu yeah it is and he was really exciting we're all very excited um everything was looking very good and he landed on the floor Gabby went on top of him and it looks like he's got a a small fracture probably wow you when me say weeks well we have to see it was in so much pain we have to wait and see with with saf to do some more test on that um and they would have probably more conclusive answers I was going to ask you whether or not you were excited by dead day but I guess after news like that you're not going to be excited this is football you know overall we have tried to do all the things that we wanted there was a lot to do uh still a few hours to go and um and nothing and we are prepared so how Wild this streams might might be something before the end of today let's see it's always possible and the last 24 hours in in the trans window never rule anything and our wildest wildest wildest streams Raheem Sterling now you know that I cannot talk about any player because you spoke last week about your admiration for him and vice versa how he work well together yeah um sounds like Chelsea are offering around has he been offered to Arsenal no no and I'm not going to be talking about this kind of thing sorry okay one one deal we know that has gone through that's Aon yeah g to Southampton just your thoughts on that well first I will say thank you so much for what he's done for the club um for the team uh for myself so when he joined he brought a lot of Joy he brought his Charisma his energy and and he was really good at that time obviously things developed and he had a situation that it was difficult for him and he was insisting a lot that he is very happy when when he plays and we have tried to fulfill that desire that he had uh he looked really excited and happy the other day and uh he's joining a great Club a great coach uh he looks really excited so I think we are all happy for him and I know that Netto the B goalkeeper at the moment is in the building is in the training ground cuz I saw him arrive so I know you don't like talking about other team's players but that would be someone to come in and be a number two I guess well it's clear that obviously we have Los car as a third goalkeeper and then we lost Aron so we have to replace them both so nto in the building having a medical I guess sorry he's having a medical at the moment we have to replace Aaron and we have to replace Carl and what about outs what about you [Laughter] if you are agile and mobile enough and you have the courage that's right I'll leave it thank you okay sar from the Premier League um injury fresh injury aside getting in Mourinho and Cal color Fury and having improving that left hand side do you think that will assist in getting best martini well hopefully obviously everything is very connected in order to especially the Wingers the front players um to shine and and to be in positions with advantages against the defender which is the most difficult thing to do in football you need players behind you that they give you that opportunity and put you in those situation as often as possible and we have brought two players that are exceptional of doing that can we expect some of the squad players like berer to play more and have some of an impact this season some of the aners coming up it will depend uh certainly they have ear now the the respect and admiration of all the all the team and they've done it in preseason and um and now they're going to have to earn the ride to play but they have the same chances as anybody else and your players have spoken about how important the meticulous analysis you do of the opponent team is for your match days what have you made of Bright's perfect start it be a match day tomorrow well we try to prepare like every manager every team does um giving them the exact information and the relevant information that that can really help us and give us value to win the game and we have tried to do uh the same for tomorrow against a team that is doing really well is one all the games with the new coach with a new coach in regime and um and it's going to be a tough match thank you Josh hi M hi it started with two clean sheets so far how pleased are you with the way that the team are defending from the front as well all over the pitch the way they're working yeah that's been a biggest strength of us um the commitment and um and the implication of every player in every ball in every single action and then yeah in those two games is true that uh we haven't given much away but the ones that we have given they were pretty clear and uh our goalkeeper has made two big saves uh to keep those clean sheets so there are Sly things to improve but I think obviously the commitment of the team in that in that front is superbed and it's an early kickoff tomorrow in those games especially is it important to to set the tone early to be on the front foot yeah we always want to do and we play at home as well and and get our supporters going and create a special atmosphere and we know how important is the that kind of energy this off BBC hi hi I want to ask you um if you don't do any more business would you be happy with the squad and do you think you can achieve your aims without any more business I'm always happy with the squad I think I have we have tremendous players a magnificent group of human beings and uh we always want to be better and we cannot deny that the most important thing is to try to improve our own players and then yeah in terms of the number numbers and the quality can we improve in the squad for sure there are margins still one of one of the best team in the world at the moment I think they don't have a lot of weaknesses um they have in in all their positions they have in which quality they have Solutions uh for All Phases of the game they're good in set pieces they are good out of possession good in possession so we need a we need a good day we need a very good individual performance but also a great togetherness on the pitch and now it's up to us like that we try to confirm what we did the first two games that is not like a surprise it should be a a confirmation for us to to go there and uh make a good game and um we go there to win because um I think my my squad has the potential but of course we have a a lot of lot of respect for Arsenal because for me at the moment one of the best teams in the world in specific Arsenal players that cause you a problem any that you kind of Pino I could mention though every individual player from them oh especially like of course Ard has something special Harvard's I like the way he plays um he's for me one of the best German players we have he's like complete in all in all his um acting behavior on the pitch Saka can decide a game with one situation they have Martinelli they have trar on the other side they have very good defensive player they R is a good box to box player so I can mention all their names but in the end it's um it's a it's a team sport and um hopefully we can present there as as a good team because we we have to go there and we have to also have to make sure that we can suffer together because there will be faces where we have to suffer there will be faces where we have to to defend together but I also want that we bring our style of play there and that we have um also our situations in possession because that's very important um not only to defend there just for me when you first arrived at the club did you feel like You' arrive at the first International break a chance to still be unbeaten I didn't when I arrived here didn't think so much um about the game or how the situation would be after Arsenal I think it's a it's a daily business this job uh you have to try to to be the best version of yourself every day and um thinking like step for step and we had now a great start I think for me the to win against Crawley was very important was in the League Cup was not an easy game but that's our thinking step for step trying to make the next step trying to continue in the process and now we have a a big challenge ahead of us we are looking forward and let's see what what happens on on Saturday yeah at the bottom of the screen here just saying Mikel Marino out for um a couple of weeks he just signed uh pictures of him in his Arsenal kit when he was a kid and now signed joining Metta at the Emirates Stadium and then injured in training yeah he collided with Gabrielle in training it sounds as though Gabrielle had fallen on him and he's got a shoulder injury which is so frustrating for Arsenal they had a similar situation last year when Yuri and Timber joined looked class injured out for many months they didn't really get him until the end of the season and they're getting ready to really enjoy in this season real shame with him because Midfield is where they wanted to have that depth and that quality which he would have brought be interesting to see when he's back I'm purposefully not asking you this question because last week many people said that they would struggle against astonvilla some people on this very couch made a prediction a two-nil prediction but for astonvilla so so how much of a statement was that for them to go there and to win to have the say from David ryer who actually uh sorry this is trossard coming off the bench not sure what he has to do to get a start but how big of a statement how big of a a show of improvement before they answer before they answer can I just say that had olle Watkins taken his opportunities it could easily have been to0 what a time to have an off day Ollie I'm watching you honestly I was wondering how long before you were going to jump in and defend yourself that was a big result for them yeah and that that Mo was a key moment in the game every game has a key momental turning points the double the double save obviously kept them in it and then Arsenal do what they do best the other end they were clinical good finishes from uh from both players and you need your keeper as Nidan said to to produce and step up at times and he's done that and they've gone on one and kept the clean sheet so good day all around but massive statement to everyone because Aston Villa on top form Ole Watkins on another day would score yeah unfortunately he didn't I'm saying unfortunately I'm a villa fan but Arsenal went away and got the job done very professional yeah Arsenal winning their first two games of the season so too have brightened so far we weren't really sure what to expect from faban Herzel they have been very impressive yeah they have I think some people were quite down on them in their predictions because you know how could a 31y old manager be able to be successful but you know he's getting tune out of those players for sure I think this wi against United the game did feel quite level to be honest but still you need to take your opportunities and you know he wants to play football the right way for them he's getting their wing is very much involved and they're having these big Le get down give yourself a stretch my boy but it's just it's good to see that they're still continuing in that vein I think at times der Zerby was chaotic but he still attacking and they're attacking in a slightly different way but as I say fair play to them because not many people thought they'd be where they are currently I love video every time you watch it there's more chaos that unfolds joah vman grabs the corner flag and I actually spoke to him this week and he said that having a manager who is 31 years old you think for many people he's older including six others of his teammates you think it would be a problem but actually he's finding he has more in common with the manager off the field so that's leading to better conversations and a better like sense of camaraderie that's interesting isn't it it is interesting and it shows a lot about the depth doesn't have a manager record that is anywhere near comparable to anyone else in the Premier League but what he does have is a charism about him good ideas the ability to connect and communicate that can immediately switch players on that's all about good man management and the fact that he's inspired uh the players in the manner that he has does bode well for a club that does love to produce players and sell them on for big money it might well be that someone comes in a couple of years down the line with big money for him transfer deadland day is a big one so we have the big guns it's a full house tonight we Darren Lewis our resident expert zes rean welcome back for the first time this season same for n manua I'm going to start with the two in the middle because Darren and I don't have a story for transfer deadline day we have not personally moved on transfer deadline day does anyone have a story on or around I have a story around it and it's not necessarily to do with a move that happened that's the downside so this was in 20 um 11 2012 I was at Manchester City but been told in preseason that I needed to go somewhere else not in a polite way way but told I need to go somewhere else so I spent most of that window looking for places to go and it got to the final day and I was thought I'm definitely going to move here so I packed up all my stuff into the bin bag shook everyone's hand at the training ground thank you very much guys for everything you know I wish you all the best and then I sat in my house and watched as every other name was being called out to move somewhere the window closed I was still there but we had training the next day so to walk back in with the same bin bag full of boots like hey everyone good to see you again I'm here till that's my story unfortunately that is that's the worst way to I know I know I know is so listen it gets like that I did move in the next window but yeah that was um it's particularly awkward time for me that one yeah for you bro yeah thank you thank you that's kind of brutal man that's kind of brutal wow I was I was young I was naive and I shouldn't have said goodbye without knowing that I was actually leaving so such his life giving us a bit of insight into um what players like Raheem Sterling Jaden Sancho and Ivan Tony would have been going through cuz those are the players who the names that have dominated transfer deadline day but one move that has been secured is Aaron ramsdale he's gone from Arsenal to Southampton just tell me your thoughts on the deal especially because we're going to show a little bit of a video uh we all love a transfer unveiling video yes before we get your thoughts on it Darren for context Aaron ramsdale was at the efl Championship Playoff Final in a Hagrid out outfit in the Southampton among the Southampton supporters and today signing they unveiled him at Southampton in his Hagrid kit it's terrific context and um Harry Potter couldn't have worked his magic anyway to actually uh set the seal on his transfer he's done it at the right time he's 26 years of age he's wasted a couple of years if I'm honest at Arsenal because he signed a new contract believing he was going to be the future then David reyer came in who has proved himself to be utterly cap but so too is Ram I think had he been playing regular first team football it might have been him and not Jordan pford who kept goal for England at the European Championship I still think that he can put himself now into the World Cup picture with regular first team football they've got a few injuries at Southampton so he comes in and will go in at the weekend and will keep gold you would imagine as their first choice for this season a fantastic Super Pair of Hands the key thing and you guys are both being Defenders so you will know me they will benefit from the fact that he won't feel under pressure in every performance like he did at Arsenal because he knew that RI was breathing down his neck he maybe took decisions he wouldn't otherwise have taken and I think this might be a chance for him to relax build a relationship with that back for S I want to ask you about Sancho because you uh We've mentioned that he's one of the names that have dominated it's been such an interesting story The Fallout with the manager then back in the club and now possibly moving yeah I mean football you got to be where you're happy and feel good so obviously everyone knows about the Fallout he's gone back to Dortmund amazing comeback he's full of confidence and he wants to play so he needs to find a home where he can show himself be himself Express himself and get back to that form that got him that I think was 73 million pound move in the first place so it's not always easy to find a place where you're happy but he needs it at this stage of his career I think I interviewed him last season and it's exactly what he said I want to be happy I don't make friends very easily so I want to go somewhere where I can settle the key to getting the best out of him at Chelsea is playing him regularly help him to enjoy his football if he does that he'll be terrific as for Arsenal there were quite a few people saying before the game against Aston Villa that maybe you know this this or these were the two fixtures last season that cost Arsenal the title and as much as any one or two fixtures can can do that but they got the win against daston Villa this time around it wasn't I'm not going to say com it wasn't uncomfortable it was but it wasn't dominant from from Arsenal it was efficient efficient is the word I'm looking for efficient because we can't you know I thought they you're always going to have possession against Villa Villa don't do they don't press high they don't press mid they kind of have this shape where you kind of get sucked in they win the ball back and then they break on you um we can't ignore the two Ole Watkins chances which were again Arsenal have to look at those and say however they came about you know that was two goals that should have been so you know you've got away with one but the way they played um I I thought the first half and I thought they were right maybe to start with Martin Elli I mentioned because everybody saying the pace that he's got is going to cause problems um it didn't quite work out you know you bring on Trad and we saw he had a different kind of um problem for him with the way his movement was the way the the time on the ball you're able to then pick him out he used his pace and his his intelligence in a different way to Martin Elli this is why I feel that Martin ell's got a big job big role to play in Arsenal but I think he's going to continue to do this where he's going to do the horses for courses because I thought that game was perfect for for for Chad and at the start of it I thought yes this is going to be perfect for Martinelli because of the pace and the fact that they've got The High Line I thought Party done very well um in in in the Midfield as well in the defense is the defense is solid goalkeeper made some great saves but it looks very excuse me it looks very efficient you know what I mean but at the same time there's still a couple of occasions occasions um where you could see there so you can just learn from those but it's just efficient KS I'm not getting it just has to be efficient at this stage of the Season though doesn't it it doesn't have to be spectacular you just need to make sure that it's almost rolls reversed because last season arsenal were brilliant in the two games and got beat whereas Villa were efficient last year doing what they did certainly the the one the Emirates where Ole Watkins at the end runs away Arsenal did exactly what they did to them last season so it was it was a big test Asen Villa at home un one of the best sides certainly at home but also just we lucky because certainly I think the the header from moly Watkins is is worse than the first one let's look at the olw because because I mean just from a from again Striker perspectives he gets quite he gets a lot of Praise Ole Watkins at times and yet he does have these moments and know we talked about him a couple of times last season as well there are moments where he just feels like it's it's not coming naturally to him um I think see again with that one that is just for me D I don't know what you say is a striker that just wants to get off the mark and get the ball in because that header he's got he's got to direct it the ball's not coming with Pace it's not coming at an awkward angle you know what I mean he could have easily even he could you know he could have probably had a touch you know I mean the way the ball came he did probably didn't need to dive and it's easy to look at it now Kel because we can see it but there's so much goal over there all you've got to do is just head it over there but he was so he was just so hellbent on just you know he's coming in Far he's got to hit I but I think in that situation I think he probably doesn't think Ry is getting up he probably thinks I've got the whole goal regardless and he probably thinks in that spot okay it doesn't matter he's not getting back up for that yeah but then this is what what ry's shown is you've got when when they're down you've got to finish them it's because Ry and what goalkeepers do we see them all the time when they over there doing that getting up when they're on the ground that balls down they get get up and save that one that's what they do you have to put it in a position where they can't reach it the first one was a case of you know he didn't even move his feet it come off with his heel that says to me more he's not ready he's not on his toes he weren't ready maybe it's the start sharp enough yet probably desperate to get off the mark As for me because they both look like two two two chances that were rushed in the way they were and you know if you'd scored one of them we probably wouldn't be as making as much of a fuss about the one that he missed I'm thinking of dooj last I've no doubt he scor first definitely scores a second abely CU everything for that second chance to header is brilliant the anticipation cuz he he runs past four Arsenal Defenders who are ball watching the ball where's it going to go he's there so he does everything right but as you said there's that composure in front of the goal where if he scores the first one he doesn't even think about the second one he just and away he goes yeah and it again coming down to such fine margins as righty said this wasn't Arsenal dominating Aston Villa it's about Arsenal being efficient and doing exactly what they they needed to at this early stage to the season yeah and I actually think after what happened last season against Aston Villa playing them early in the season is no bad thing because I think all sides are sort of trying to find their Rhythm and get into a bit of form and I don't think Villa yet are there yet I don't think Arsenal are there yet because they certainly neither side really wanted to take that game by the SC of the neck it was there for the taking really but I think there was still a little bit of early season mistakes and slowness and maybe maybe even post Euro fatigue from a lot of players but the way that Villa set up trying to block out any Central play from Arsenal to play Between the Lines Martinelli had the opportunity out wide again and again but it didn't quite work wasn't making the right decisions so it could have been a very different game if Martinelli had made the most of those opportunities or Villa had finished their chances but I think it was a really clear sign that Arsenal are willing to just be clinical in the small moments they have which is what it's going to take to try and go all the way yet again phase three here we go time time there you go this is why I'm this is why I'm just like my keeping my I'm just I'm just sizzling simply because um you know I I just want us to do this like what city do City don't normally start well they normally start a little bit but they've started they're on fire so we need to make sure that we stay with them so we can get after Christmas and then that's when the mentality side of it is going to kick in that's when you've done it twice before this is it so I just want us to get there and be in the fight quick word on Villa as well cuz it was a a really good season last time around phenomenal first half to the the season can they can they reach those Heights again can they reach them more consistently over the the 38 games I think they can I know a lot of people spoke about their balance in Europe and the domestic but they were in Europe people forget last season anyway so they've had a taste of it they've got the master in charge in terms of domestic football and European honors as well in un am Marie but it's going to be difficult because we saw Newcastle do it and they maybe didn't have the squad I think what Viller have done in the transfer market is impressive I like Onana as a Midfield player I think he's really good um mat mat as well bringing players back as well from injury so it'll be difficult but I I think they'll have another good season whe whether they finish inside the top four domestically I'm not sure about but I think for a side like this with the the signings they've made and the players have already got there I think anything elide the top six would be a really poor season for them and you know we've been talking throughout the last couple of weeks about how difficult it is to judge after just two games well after one but as I say it started with that I'm going to say surprise result because it feels like every time Brighton managed to get result against Manchester United we're surprised by it but maybe we shouldn't be anymore maybe that's kind of the the pattern now is that Brighton can just do this to Manchester United they do do that and they do it on a regular basis to them and I think the one thing that we we might have been looking for United going to Brighton and um with the new manager hler is how is he going to get them going how's he going to how's he going to get them playing how we saw in the in in the first week that they look like he's got them going already because obviously they've copied and pasted him into un believable structure at Brighton and now he's got them experienced players with some young players You Know M with some really good players ya um J Pedro and it was for me man I thought they played okay but I just the way Brighton were going up the pitch passing the ball around closing them down getting chances Danny Welbeck I thought was fantastic as well in the way he played it was always going to be a tough game for United but the way United started a game and the way they were playing I thought okay yes I can uh I can see where United might be getting themselves going but then we saw what happened in the end well come on to to Manchester United but from Brighton's point of view I think last week against Everton we thought all right but we're not quite sure where Everton are going to be this season and how their performances are going to be but to do it against Manchester United and again we're still in a little bit of of an indecisive sort of period with with Manchester United but to beat them 2-1 and to do it I know it was late on but to do it relatively comfortably was was impressive yeah it was I mean the way they play um the energy that they show Brighton I mean Relentless they've got so many good players they play for enthusiasm as well I mean and as Ry was saying they take risks and Manchester United as we going to said we're going to speak about them in a little bit they didn't capitalize on the spaces that bright and left yes but go as we going to said we're going to speak about them a little bit they didn't capitalize on the said we're going to speak about them a little bit they didn't capitalize on the spaces that bright and left yes but going forward Brighton I mean the little patterns of play xia predra playing in that 10 they just play with such an enthusiasm and even their maner reflect the manager because on the sideline he sits down for a second he's up again he's he's shouting and for me Brighton this season I think they can push certainly again I'm not say top four getting carried away but if they can play with that freedom and they stick to those beliefs and don't change too many things and of course injuries plays its part then they've got to be aiming for that top six because they will cause teams no end of problems they're all comfortable on the ball and that's it is almost like a copy and paste type of situation because all of a sudden now 1 to 11 they can all play and that starts from the goalkeeper receiving the ball playing forward playing between the lines they were really impressive yeah and also that as we we've talked about many times with Brighton the recruitment is is fantastic but that works for for managers as well we touched on this a little bit last week with Herzel is that at 31 he didn't have a huge wealth of experience it can't be that Brighton had been tracking him for a long time because he hasn't been in management for for that long a time and yet they've brought somebody in who suits the players that they they already have in situ yeah that they're so good at what they do Brighton as a football club from top down they're just so well structured and they always have this succession plan that's laid out whether that's for coaches or for the talent on the pitch as well and I think what is what they've done so well with herzler is that he's not straying that far away from the foundations that derer had I think the derer Brighton was probably the intensity was up another notch their pressing was so so aggressive whereas I think herley teams can press but I think in the Bundesliga 2 last season they were only eighth in the league for pressing so they're not as intense as theer's sides were so I think it's almost the best of both world is that they can be more versatile on how they play they can be aggressive against certain teams but they still the foundations are playing out from the back so the goalkeeper has to really comfortable on the ball so is all the back four they've got midfielders who will drop in and then they can just move across the pitch really well but the buildup play is maybe slightly slower which maybe suits Brighton a little bit but then they can still kick in and turn up the tempo when they need to do you know what as well it's it's no accident that he's ended up there because there was even reports last season about him going down and watching Brighton's training derer be inviting him down I think he even spent a bit of time in the away end for one of the games watch for one of the games watching Brighton as well getting a feel for the club so that's where Brighton are so clever at what they do they've clearly identified him quite early and yes there was no guarantees the Zerby was going to leave or that he'd leave and go to Brighton but in case that was the situation he was already made replacement for the Zerby and he's gone there and that's why it looks like it just fits because he he's spent time around the club he knows how it works you know there's a little bit of risk as well though just to add because they have spent a lot this window I think if they do end up getting all the players they wanted I think it'll be near 200 million spent they had a taste of Europe last season obviously it didn't work out well in the end they want to build a deeper Squad but there is I think a lot of pressure and they've had a fantastic start to the season but to keep that up and secure a top six finish with the amount of the money that teams around them have spent is still going to be tough but they they are selling players as well and they will know because there were a couple of players that they were talking when deserie was there was talking about you know they'll be moving on in a year or so they they'll be ready to go they kind of bring them to to ition and then and then off they go into the into the big world but it is they they sort of nurture them and they and they know what's what's coming through so although they're spending the money they're able to to recoup it from the the development of of those players but is it as we're saying top six it's it's possible for Brighton how How likely do you think it is it's going to they're going to have to have a lot of things go for them obviously going to need all their their signings to to to kick in you know injuries are going to be a key part of it um and you know the intensity in which the well you can't say the intensity I probably say the exuberance of the manager how long he could keep that going with the players you know he's got very experienced players in there who at the moment after two games are very much on side of what's going on and that that does help when you get two good results like they've had but I think that it's a real um it's a real compliment to to him and and Brighton that they've gone for a manager so young yeah coming into the Premier League coming out of the second division of Germany and again because the structure is so good if you're a good coach you can probably work in the Premier League so he's he's bright letting people know listen if you've got the right structure these coaches can come in no matter what age they are and they can work but like I say it's only two games so we'll have to see so I'm hoping but everybody's two games we can't we can't as we said this every season we're like we can't judge on what we haven't seen we can only judge on the on the first that's why I'm hoping for his sake and for Brighton's sake and the and the and the and and and the platform that Brighton have built in how that people see Brighton it would be brilliant if they could be successful so people this is the way to do it this is the way to do it back to Saturday last year's runers up Arsenal had a very impressive Victory didn't they against Aston Villa at the weekend a team that actually beat Arsenal twice last season does that send a bit of a message to Manchester City that that they go to Villa Park and and win that game well I think it's fair to say this was Arsenal's first big test of the season and yes they didn't have fun memories of Aston Villa obviously a a late win at the back end of last season down at the Emirates so there was a point to prove and uh and they did it they they did it in in style in the end up um it was uh one of those afternoons where it took time a lot of tactics that we want to look into now but as you can see from the stats here it probably weighs in Villa's favor if you look if you if you if you block out the score and you looked at the start you think wow Villa have played quite well here but we'll uh we'll go well you you'd expect Arsenal probably have more possession would you know the way they like to dominate the ball play it out from the back but Arsenal aren't they they know how to they know how to get it done they are they're very res resilient and you've got to be if you're going to go for the premier league title that is the first thing I mean with their first test of the season they didn't want to slip up especially with the the the way that City have already started that they knew they needed a big result of vill Park yeah absolutely they were frustrated in that first period Arsenal because of the way Aston Villa set themselves up they were difficult to play against weren't they difficult for Arsenal to try and play through them we'll have a look at it right from the very off so Arsenal win the ball back but look how quickly Aston Villa get themselves back into a shape so they've just won the ball back Arsenal they're on the attack and I'm just going to take it back very slightly because if you would if we just watch OE Watkins olle Watkins and Morgan Rogers their job at the weekend was the two Midfield players for us when I say two Midfield players I mean Thomas party holding Midfield player and yurian Timber was an inverted fullback for Arsenal and he narrowed off so Rogers and Watkins were told that they had to try and get around the two midfielders of Arsenal this is Thomas party so Arsenal are in possession what does he do Ole Watkins he gets himself back into that position if you just stop it there I mean how compact are Aston Villa I mean you can just have a look it there is absolutely no way through ason villea there you could throw a blanket over them they they go down the sides come back out to your center backs but there is no way you're going to go through us and if you are it's going to be absolutely Sublime play so right from the offset this was Aston Villa's tactics let be hard to beat and make it difficult for Arsenal yeah well drilled aren the UND I Emory and he does like to get them into a really compact shape Arsenal trying to attack trying to find a way through there's a runner they they stick with the runner but I'm just going to pause it again as we fold it on the ball comes into that sort of area nobody coming onto the edge of edge of the box Arsenal and again if you look at the numbers that Villa have got picking this ball up there's four of them around the ball yeah it just shows how well drilled they are and when that ball get there's a desire to get on it and from this point that's their first thought is can we get forward can we break yeah I mean that was their game plan wasn't it Aston ville's game plan it was to try and be patient and then try and counter attack because they got plenty of pace I think this is a really good clip because this is patience isn't it from from Aston Villa they're not they're not going to get pulled out of position they're not going to go too early they can't get there it's too big and this is all their forwards they've got to be really really Resolute they've got to understand the system that's behind them because if one of them forwards go and it leaves a big gap and all of a sudden that whole system's broken down so it shows how disciplined I suppose that that especially Ole Watkins was because he always wants to go forward should just show as well that the way that Arsenal is set up so this is the fullback yurian Timber this is him coming into Midfield back three makes it a back three doesn't it with CBA Gabrielle and Ben White and uran Timber went in alongside Thomas party tried to push on Declan rice and Martin erard so usually what would happen here is they would create a 5v2 and the two Villa players would get lost in between that five and they pass through them and then all of a sudden partying things will be going forward but astonvilla didn't allow them to do that on Saturday no and they they are patient as you said they Shuffle the ball across that back line as Villa Shuffle across but all the time Watkins and Rogers sticking with those two Midfield players not getting dragged into a position to try and close down the the center back and get dragged out of their shape this is what you call a tactical battle well it's it's patience isn't it and that's why Arsenal dominated possession but a lot of it was in this sort of area particularly in the first half yeah that that that that St that we're seeing at the top shows a little bit skewed because they were almost AOW possession in certain areas play it on again again they're thinking about pressing they're thinking about pressing when do we go and as a center back you're desperate to try and play forward positive pass aren't you but there's just nothing on for for Gabriel or salba here eventually I think there he is Leon Bailey just just jumps out of his out of his position doesn't he he just take it back slightly see see you can see cash pointing at him as well yeah he's don't go don't go but he just gets dragged out of his position opens up that little bit of space de rice comes into it Roger switches off Tim against the other side but Villa a compact they're tight and they win the ball back again no way through for them and then this is this is this is Villa just just stepping out a little bit more you can see Morgan Rogers just coming back in having to recycle the ball Watkins just stepping back but Arsenal still even though they get past that initial first press there still actually know where to go and this is it that we can see everyone everyone goes don't they yeah you see this is an Nana he's now trying to press fullback he's going a long way but heg Rogers has come over as well but watch the fullback go really goes to try and close him down look how quickly he gets there to Timber nowhere to go turns into trouble gives the ball back to ason Ville and you could see there was real frustra that first period from mik Etta um and Aston ville's game plan was working at that stage yes without doubt it was and I think Aston Villa when when you get moments like that where Timber Just steps out of play it gives you more impetus to press and you press with more confidence and you press more as a team and Arsenal they just couldn't quite find their way out in that first half well actually let's go back to the the match stats again and the XG because it was 1.35 to 1.13 for in Aston Villa's favor if we looked at those two chances in isolation from ole Watkins I think the uh the first chance was a 40% chance of scoring so they scor it four out of 10 I think that's maybe generous I probably should should be more and the header was actually a 50% chance so I look at that and I think probably they should be higher those percentages definitely I mean if if if you look at the XG in shots you're thinking Arville and this this has been a good day and this is how a manager and a coaching staff will sit down on a Sunday on a Monday and review the game and say there's plenty positives to take out of the performance how many times though do we see it with with with Arsenal they find a way and they they found a way off the bench this weekend with with Trad um but Arsenal's Wingers let's have a look at the the two Wingers he opted to go with Martinelli at the start were you surprised at that decision or could you understand it no I can understand that because I I think it's fair to say Martinelli gives you more legs going forward he's more he's got more of a burst of pace to get him behind and and naturally he runs in behind and stretches the field more we can see in this they're a very different profile aren't they Martin and TR Martinelli's pace and I think probably against an Aston Villa team that play a high line maybe the reason why he went with Martinelli away from home play it on this is the Run he plays a little onew and he gets away I'm not sure we I'm not sure we see trar do this don't think he's got the legs necessarily to do this do you think from I I think he he would try to but like you say he hasn't quite got the speed that that Martinelli's got and once he's away he's got this this is a really good it's a really good position for Arsenal that is a really poor ball from from a man of his caliber you've got almost a three on two that that it's so tight if you just run it back let's let's just go back to that because it's so tight this when we see here because of all the recovering Defenders we've got here who's he trying to find I think he's trying to find think he's trying to find o guard but because of the recovering Defenders this ball has got to be so precise and perfect and un it's not recovering Defenders get back and all of a sudden in in in a millisecond the chance has gone yeah it's just slowing yourself down is it when you get into that position this is this is Arsenal's you when we when you talk about Arsenal in the shape of their team talked about the back through we talked about the Midfield two in this position Timber going alongside party but the other thing that you notice about Arsenal's wide players particularly Martin Elli when he's on this side less so Trad because Trad Narrows off a little bit more a lot of space there to play that ball into and he should never play out should he's a natural goal scorer martinell I mean he's got yeah a couple of seasons ago he got big numbers in in the Premier League last year I think he only got six in the Premier League I think he's better with the ball at his feet approaching goal running down and goal oneon-one this one what his position here where where should he be should he be should he be making that run into here I actually think he's covering the back Post in I think his positioning is quite good that that that that has been that is that's what he's been asked to do you cover that back anything pops up there that's where you're going to get your tapping and that's what we all see at Wingers opposite side H the back post we'll see again here he's in that area in that vicinity this is him let's a this this is him at the far post yeah yes again just you can see that that the astonvilla defense is it's it's taken up and he's just lering at the back waiting to get in but for a recovering Defender he get in there but again no real impetus to get too involved I think it's fair to say TR comes on this is different talk to me about TR because you obviously you you'll know trell well from so Leandro is used to playing as a nine as well he's comfortable playing as a nine and I would say he's got probably a little bit more nouse inside the 18 Yard Box he's more of a goal scorer and I think from this instance when we roll this on you can see I'll play Slowly he's got a taste for goal yeah he knows it sometimes comes naturally and his movement is very like Martinelli to begin with he waves his arms a couple of times he wants to try and get on that back stick that that is what he's trying to do but when that ball doesn't arrive he thinks for himself where's the space where's this going to fall and you can see him just drifting in here and this is actually a really good finish cuz it comes at him quite quick I think it gets a touch not too far away from him uh I think the uh the celebration maybe uh sending a message there wasn't too big of Celebration but again he he can do that he can get him behind and it and it leads to party's goal as well it leads to the second so he scored the first and his running behind has led to the second goal as well so that's the impact he's had off the bench and that isn't a new thing that that was all last season his numbers were really good his numbers were better than Martinelli's last season and I can understand from leandro's point of view why You' be disappointed that he didn't start but like we say they're different profiles and it and it worked M was right in his decisions Martinelli stretched to play in the first half and then Trad comes on and he delivers the kill well this is the touch map against Aston Villa so we'll compare the two Martin Elliot and trossard Martin Elli is in blue trossard in red now last season Trad got 12 Premier League goals Martinelli got six and I think you just have to look at this map and you can see the reasons why in in lots of ways you'll say it's quite similar but Martin Elli I think hugs the touch line a little bit more I think he stays out wider a little more of a natural Winger natural Winger likes to get chalk on his Boots stretch the pitch he and saaka do that really well trossard different slightly different profile wants to come inside he wants to get himself into goal scoring position you said he's a number nine or used to play he can play as a number nine these little areas here where he gets and obviously his goal alongside the penalty spot he gets into positions where he can get himself on the score sheet yeah where he can affect the game and that is ultimately you want him to do and I think also we talk about the different profiles of the two players that causes a huge problem for the right back because he's used for 70 minutes 60 70 minutes to defending one type all of a sudden you've got somebody else coming in that's posing different problems and I I think towards the end of games trad's cool enough that when that opportunity does arise more often than not he at least hits the target yeah well you need people off the bench to try and change the direction of the game times and obviously Trad is a player that can do that um we haven't mentioned the other Winger so Martinelli and Trad on the left hand side sacka on the right hand side it wasn't necessarily his best game but the reason I I mention him is because he is now the third youngest player to reach 100 Premier League wins um when you look at that illustrious list Wayne Rooney at the top of it says fabrias and beo saaka has just beaten Phil foden by four days 22 so less just just shy of his 23rd birthday I wonder if Phil's going to knock on the door this morning and say pep why didn't you play be a little bit more he could play he could have played him a little bit more couldn't he um but what a player because oh what a player yeah I mean yeah we we've just talked about the the left hand side of Arsenal but on the right hand side he's the main man there's no one feels in for him he stays on 9 minute every game and more often than not he has a big say in the outcome so Arsenal two games in statement Victory against Aston Villa are they goingon to do it this season or tough man city is I I I did say at the start what what is it now 10 days ago I did say that they would do it but City bringing gundan in it's going to be really diff difficult I'd like to see I'd like to make a decision once the transfer Wing sces yeah absolutely Liverpool are in it as well they've won their first two G let's go over to Leroy and see what Leroy spotted
