Braelon Allen could be a 'top-10' RB if Hall misses time | Fantasy Football Happy Hour | NFL on NBC

have it number five fellas focus on winning weeks Matthew Target players with upside and ones that you will know when you should actually start them that's the big thing I think people forget this but fantasy football is not a season long Endeavor it is a weekly contest that takes place over the course of a season right you know a lot of times you see analysis and we do this as well you're like well he was wide receiver 16 last year or you know you know from week eight on he was the third best running back in fantasy the truth matter is is that all you're trying to do is put together winning weeks you're trying to just fantasy football season long fantasy football specifically unless you're in a guillotine League uh where in a gutin league you're just trying not to uh finish last every week but in a season long head-to-head fantasy football league you're literally just trying to beat whoever you're playing that week okay so you're trying to uh assemble a roster of players that will be better than the team you're playing Super Simple right the fact of the matter is is that when you're on draft day like you're not going to you are not going to draft unless you get very lucky you not going to draft a team that you will be able to start every single week there's going to be injuries there's going to be buys there going to be people that disappoint so as you look to your bench as you look to your bench you want guys that have huge upside like I used to call this the ne the never James White rule right in a standard size right so James White for a number of years was a running back with a Patriots who was a nice pass catching running back who was like kind of like 8 to 10 points every single week like you know he was like four for 40 like that was a typical James white line you know 5 for 36 whatever it was right he would just catch a couple passes so which is fine and every year he would finish his like white running back 25 or 27 you know that kind of he was fine but there was literally no upside there but then you think about guys last year who like um Kye Williams is obviously an amazing example but you know there were guys last year that like uh where when the when the when the starter went down and the backup was going to play and you knew that guy was going to be worth starting Like That season right you know um trying to think of a uh of a really good example here but like all right wa he he didn't perform great but like when when Aaron Jones goes out okay AJ Dylan and AJ Dylan disappointed but if ever there was a start a week to start AJ Dylan it's when you know uh Aaron Jones Jo was like behind dvin cook was a thing for years years but KH Herbert's a great example right you know because it was like very crowded backfield in in Chicago honestly the entire Bears backfield right CU like when Roshan Johnson and Dante foran were out like you're like okay I'm starting C Herbert and he was great right and then there were a couple times when those guys were hurt but Deontay Foreman was getting the start and he got all the work so the point is is not just about having players that have a big games but knowing when to start them right that's a that's a big key because you sometimes you get these big random games where you're like I didn't know this was the one week that Juju Smith Shuster was going to catch like you know seven balls for 100 yards so um I think there are guys out there that I just I want to highlight that I do think have this opportunity like uh at a at a bigger level Jonathan Brooks when he becomes healthy he's going to usurp uh chuba Hub uh Chase Brown looks like he's going to be the starter in Cinna but Zach Moss is starting at him if anything happens to KY Williams and KY Williams has missed five games every year he's been in the NFL Blake km's going to be the starting running back of a very good offense same with Zack shanet Bine Walker who has been banged up banged up in college banged up since he comes into the NFL or even Ty Chandler Aaron Jones obviously missed a lot of time last year they like Tai Chandler in Minnesota and with Sam darnold on Su they may go more run heavy this year anyway who are some other running backs that you really like Conor some some rookies that have an opportunity as well well I think in the second half of the year I'd like to see when he gets healthy we've talked about Tyrone Tracy just because that back field is so wide open I'll say this I look at brillan Allen he's he went into spring and that was right they took Izzy at bonaca two years ago they took Isaiah Davis right after bran Allen this year and it was him right away as the number two like it didn't take very long Bree Hall we love Bree Hall we can't wait to see what Bree Hall does the running backs get hurt they get Hur if you're paying that kind of investment a top five pick for a running back you better take brayan Allen later in the draft to have that insurance and brillan Allen is good now he just needs to play but he needs Bree Hall to if something were to happen to Bree Hall braan Allen is a top 10 fantasy running back I I'll say Jordan Mason I think Jordan Mason is the clear backup I you know everything you hear out of San Francisco about Elijah Mitchell just doesn't seem like great Vibes I feel like if anything were to happen to mcaffrey it would be Jordan Mason who has run very very well and like again we've known this when mcaffry has missed out like whoever is behind him uh for the Niners like that's somebody Ray Davis I think he's gonna have a role in Buffalo and again if something were to happen to James Cook suddenly Ray Davis becomes really interesting Tyler algia as well just because with beon like the one thing we know about running backs the more you touch the ball more opportunity you have to get hurt beon is going to be among the league leaders and touches which means that he just is an injury Risk by the nature of playing at that position and we know that Tyler Alger has been good and effective when he gets R generally speaking backups usually are around uh you know running backs but there are some cases in terms of whether it's wide receivers or I think about Isaiah likeley if anything happens to Mark Andrews Isaiah likele is a tight end one for the Ravens and I think he's going to have a bigger role this year anyway they really like him there in Baltimore but my point is is that when you're drafting you just draft somebody that like they may only be good for weeks but those three weeks they can win you the week as opposed to when you're drafting late you want to draft for upside not some guy that's going to get you 10 points you don't need you know you don't need Braxton baros okay you have a chance to
