Today, Governor Greg Abbott stopped by Beaumont to break down the preparations that state officials are making ahead of Francine's landfall. The governor says while Texas is first priority, we will send help to Louisiana as needed. 12 news reporter called or was at today's press conference in Kyle. When leaders thought that the hurricane would hit Texas, they were well equipped. That's right. Brendan and Jordan, our state and county leaders say this is the time to prepare our resources as our neighbors in Louisiana race for impact. This is something that all of us uh care about because there's one thing of paramount importance and that's the safety of everybody in this region. Better safe than sorry. The state of Texas has 24 state agencies that are actively responding to this storm right now. Southeast Texas leaders and emergency management officials gathered around Texas. Governor Greg Abbott this afternoon to discuss how Southeast Texas is preparing for any potential damage. We are deploying all of the resources needed. We are expecting some rain and we could expect some winds up to 30 to 35 mile an hour to sustain Gust Jefferson County emergency management coordinator, Robert Grimm says Jefferson County stands ready to expect the unexpected the E SDS, our rodent bridge crews got those on stand by. We have some state assets that we have brought in and stationed currently at Ford Park. These coastal storms affect all of us up and down the coast especially. It seems like we've had our fair share of them over the last few years. Orange County Judge Don and Beaumont, Mayor Roy West also attended. They stress caution for Southeast Texans. It's gonna move to our east and continue to do that. But if it does make a turn uh back to the west, we do know that we are prepared. We want our residents to be vigilant, be prepared for the worst, but pray for the best and certainly keep Louisiana in our prayers as Louisiana awaits landfall. Governor Abbott encourages everyone to stay vigilant. It's one thing to say you're prepared. It's another to deliver on that preparation. Texas Department of Emergency Management chief Nim Kidd tells 12 news at this hour.
