The Cooper DeJean DEBUT was EXACTLY what the Eagles needed to see... | Film Analysis |

last night we got to see the debut of Philadelphia Eagles rookie Cooper dein and this is a guy in my opinion holds a ton of Versatility as a nickel but also can play safety as well and in his debut the man actually surprised a lot of people I thought he did exactly what the Eagles wanted to see and in this video what I wanted to do specifically was go into the all 22 coaches film and show you guys exactly why I believe Cooper Dee is going to be a stud in the future for the Eagles before we dive into the film do me a favor and comment down below one a record prediction right how many games part two comment down below who you want me to break down right we've done Jaylen Carter Nolan Smith uh nicoe Dean who should I break down next and also if this video gets up to let's just say 300 likes we'll post a part two before the start of the regular season and probably in the next couple of days if this video does relatively well um so yeah let me know who you guys want me to do next and with that being said let's dive into the film all right here we go so what we usually do is actually show the play and then it'll come back and break it down you see the quarterback make an adjustment change the play at the line of scrimmage they run it Cooper jeene actually makes a really good tackle from the slot position position so the first thing we're going to notice is the Eagles are kind of stacking this left side of the field kind of just you know daring them to give the handoff up that right side right now what they uh make at the line of scrimmage here is they basically just check it right they're like okay you know what let's run this ball we like what they're showing us here now the specific thing we need to look at is this wide receiver right we could tell this is man coverage because all these cornerbacks are just locked in on these wide receivers let's actually break it down a little bit more here get further into the snap so Boom at this point in time we know that this wide receiver doesn't really care about Cooper Dee he wants to drive him up the field because we know it's manto man coverage but then he's going to go and block this guy we're going to get a block here basically them just saying listen we don't care if coer jine comes in here we don't think he can make a tackle on our guy so in the nickel Cooper jine close to the line of scrimmage they need him to make a play running back Cuts back what he's taught to do and meets him in the hole is Cooper deine I think this is a great play Not only showcasing his ability to read and react to an offense is trying to do but stay patient right he's going to square up and then go down make a nice little tackle here these are the things that you want to see and I think the Eagles coming into the off season needed another nickel needed a guy um you know maybe not just a vonte Maddox but someone who's going to play after vonte Maddox and we're already starting to see them put other guys in this nickel position I mean you talk about Isaiah Rogers and Darius Slay then you got guys like Ringo and kuer deine and quinon Mitchell and they have so many guys here in the secondary and I think coop dein is just another one that I truly really do like in terms of his tackling ability I thought he showcased that today uh or yesterday I should say in this game a ton and again the versatility alone of Cooper deine makes me excited about his future all right here is another play I liked we'll show you once again and then we'll kind of break it down obviously we got Cooper jine the slot here boom quarterback drops back yes no Reed throws it really good coverage by kuber deine uh make sure it's difficult for him to get both feet and balce pushes them out before he can do so that's going to be called incomplete now first thing we notice on this play is initially two deep safeties right so at this point in time this would be a no read to the slaf just because you have the safety help however what we're going to see here is quarterback's going to give you a fake snap here boom okay what do we notice safety bumping up this guy's probably Tak the middle of the field which now this yes no read becomes a yes read okay what this is basically is one-onone coverage we want this every single day of the week quarterback in his mind at this point in time says I am throwing this ball no matter what because this safety is bumping up we have a midre or Middlefield close safety so boom quarterback drops back he is going to look off that safety and he's going to throw this football leaving Cooper jine in that one-on-one coverage needs to make a good play right does make it very difficult for the wide receiver to get both feets uh feet and bounce I think he does a really good job want to see um maybe it turn his head around a little bit but in totality great coverage very sticky right on him pretty much the entire way um and again I believe you could tell they're giving him in or outside leverage here so defense is basically saying we want you to go out rather than in uh because you could tell he's probably maybe just a step inside really trying to prepare for a slant potentially then boom stays with them good acceleration to get back into this play and again maybe want to see the head snap around but not bad I thought that was a good good coverage for the most part now I thought this play specifically really saved the Philadelphia Eagles I'll explain why here in a second coming in on a slot Blitz they're going to run this ball up the middle to the running back here but I think he makes an unbelievable tackle I'll show you why in just a second now might look like oh I mean nothing's probably going to happen on this play yeah potentially they were going to make this tackle however what I will say is once we get a little bit further there is a potential Lane for this running back to take that could be um you know a huge one so boom first thing we're notice that again quarterback checks it like their uh their matchups here up front they want to run this football um and I do believe that initial pre-at motion here actually brought Cooper closer to where he wanted to be off that safety or the off the SLO Blitz here so I believe that was actually good for the defense for the most part boom's going to move him a little bit more inside now I think he does a really good job accelerating and getting back into this play after overc committing let's show you here just a little bit so boom off the initial snap because this is a safety Blitz he's going to get try to get to the quarterback but once he realizes it's a run he's got to kind of get back into the play and make a stop so boom he's got to change direction does it very quickly right notice the ability to stop on a dime and change direction that is very important valuable in the NFL especially from a slot right so first thing we know running back is going to try to bounce this outside at this point in time you have this 101 if coin's not here you have this 101 where if he bounces that you have this block to the outside you could have this be a big time play but kuer dein kind of forces him to stay inside and then makes a nice little hit initially for that tackle I thought that was an unbelievable play by coer dein maybe you guys disagree you guys let me know man I'm open to criticism I'm not you know an elite film uh analysis break Downer right but I think this is a really solid play by Cooper jeene change of Direction get back into the play and put your body online to make a diving tackle again I love that now listen before we Deep dive any further into the film guys do me a massive favor one hit the like button right if this video gets over 300 likes that slot we're going to see him Jam the wide receiver but actually do something very effective here now the whole time that he is jamming we're going to see him keep his eyes on the running back right trying to get this left side he doesn't really know if it's a run so he has to keep his eyes on this quarterback right we have to know where the ball is at all times so while he is jamming this wide receiver to the inside or causing a jam um he is also keeping his eyes on the running back in the quarterback right when he uh you know realize okay running back kept the ball let me get off here block shed stop square up and make a tackle right beautiful great job by Cooper jeene once again out of the slot I love this dude near the line of scrimmage also think he could be even even better safety if you want him there as well but again we talk about versatility and if if you're if we're being honest here Cooper dein's versatility on this football team is something I really like I don't think he's in on this play specifically uh but again this is the type of play I Love To See by Cooper jine great great patience read react attack that's great from a slot from a nickel love it here we go just another solid play by Cooper you see him at the bottom of your screen slot once again he's going to get in there they're going to send actually this receiver this way to help block leaving a one-on-one match up again I felt like the Vikings in this game a ton were really relying on Cooper jine being a bad tackler on this this play getss a beautiful one great oneon-one match up versus McBride who's very Shifty as a running back and I think um you know this dude K is continuing to Showcase why he could be such a good player at the next level that tackling ability to be a safety to be a nickel I think he could play multiple different positions and again that's a good one man I really do like it really do like that tackle all right here we go another play here Cooper jine top of your screen in the slot we're going to get a quick slant over the middle we're going to get a tight end um stopping over the middle and then another little slant to the inside on the opposite side of the field you might be asking well why are we highlighting this in a KU deene video well let's watch this uh how we uh how this play breaks down so boom quarterback's going to see its manto man coverage he's going to let this ball out really quickly in my opinion um you know it's not a bad read but watch KU dein here come up here right have really good coverage one on his little slant over the middle but then run to the ball right love the effort want to see him continue to do this and uh you know be someone who is all over the football field right sideline to sideline wherever the football is going even if it's going to a man across the field still get over there and make a play and I think he does exactly that now I do think they get close to that first down marker um just love the effort by Kubin maybe wasn't a perfect game maybe didn't make any splashy plays as a DB as like a corner uh but I do think he made a lot of really solid ones as a tackler now that was pretty much it for Cooper de's debut he played pretty much the entirety of the game but in and out sporadically um overall I thought he showcased some really good things I thought a couple of his you know plays where he was actually a cover corner I thought he looked relatively good couple of plays I want to see a little bit better of you know getting back looking at the football looking to see if it's coming or not but overall I thought the importance of getting a tackle in certain situations by kuer dein was really Dynamic I again I think the versatility and the the um ability to play multiple different positions is something that the Eagles valued a ton coming into this year's draft and getting a guy like quinon Mitchell getting a guy like Cooper dein who could play safety or nickel um I think is going to be huge for them down the line again maybe not this season specifically because they have so many guys vonte Maddox and um Darius Slay and Isaiah Rogers and Ringo and quinon Mitchell and James Brad I mean they have so many guys right so I don't think he's going to be an X Factor this season but I love what I saw from his debut uh The Importance of Being able to tackle is huge and I think they saw exactly what they needed to see out of Cooper Dean if he can get a little bit better in some diff uh different areas I think this dude could be a stud for them for a very long time so
