[Music] did it feel like a long time coming for you to have a game like that yeah I mean a lot of stuff he putting in perspective in know second injury ain't played since October so it was a little emotional you know going into the game be back out here in front of the fans um with my teammates you know to have a game like that was just felt thanking God really did it feel natural as well cuz you led the team in tackles yet obviously you didn't finish last yeah you know um yeah I felt like um going into the season you know I had a lot of people Doubt Me Maybe a lot of people forgot the type of player I am so you know just go out there and grind and continue to you know play as confident as I can play um with the special defense that I'm playing on I feel like it just showed what you take on the defense today like the way you guys got a especially as the game continue yeah I mean I feel like we play well but we still left some you know plays out there um nothing from what they did just you know um mistake that we made so I think that there still even though we play so well there's so much we can improve on to even be more leite defense and the sco and score describe it in the yeah you know uh when it bounced I almost dropped it at first I was so excited cuz I knew that if I can catch I get to the end zone and then you know just for it to get in my hands just a big smile on my face running down the field so it felt amazing you made a couple plays where so you talked about the long layoff since October maybe being Overlook it felt like you were maybe more demonstrative after some plays than you have fasted you did you feel that was it more emotional for you than it has when previous yeah most definitely like I said I feel like I've had so much you know such a change of perspective like no matter who we're playing um no matter what it is whether there it's practice whether it's a game whether it's a scrimmage I'm just happy to be on the field so you know to make a play on the field I'm just it's just my emotion is playing through the that's really just emotion I'm been holding in so you know even get emotional speaking about it right now so I'm I was excited to be out there playing again 11 turn today how do it feel to get that ball rolling I yeah that's that was a big emphasis um on this uh off season was you know we had such a great defense last year led the nation and explosive play stuff like that but we didn't have as many turnovers as we wanted so all off season we working on um getting as many turnovers as we can you know showed in game one did your assessment CJ Sunny Styles two starting linebackers today how did they how did they fair in your opinion yeah I think they did good I mean it says a lot about you know Sunny Styles first of all to be you know playing will to play Mike from last year playing safety to go in there you know being able to obtain all that information and go out there and play Fast there a lot about him and I think CJ also did really well um I think arell did well I think Gabe did well I think all our linebackers really showed our depth today went out there and made a lot of plays what do you think of Denzel's back oh man that was a great play I mean desel has been balling all spring off all camp and it just continues to go into the game do you feel like the corners are jumping more abouts nowadays knowing kind of what get us into bre this season I mean yeah I mean they playing like B lean Ryan mentioned you guys practiced in past three games this week three days this week how noteworthy is that and how tired are you guys right now oh I'm I mean we feel good but yeah we we uh I think just coach emphasized on the physicality we need to play with um coming from last year and I think that you know we're Contin to play physical we're going to continue to have them padded practice cuz you know uh that's what we need to do so was oh it was a lot of fun man it was a lot of fun I think that um it's been fun to play with him from um the offseason to go into play and do a game think he made a lot of plays flew around out there so I can't wait to see what the season hold for us he means everything I mean you look at r he's achieved things that no one else has achieved in this program or achieved anywhere else so I mean he means everything in his programs for him to be honored today was amazing to honor history or historical figures yeah I think it's always I mean coming toio St is such a historic school so to always do your research and and to know the history before it just makes it that much more important to know what you're wearing in that Ohio state emblem so that's what we on to them you talk about the physicality how much have that played a role in you guys' success as a defense today yeah I think that we're trying to be the most physical um hardest playing defense in the country and I think a little bit of that showed today obviously we still got um places where we can improve but um definitely a great first game you said that you that was a point of emphasis coming off last year do you feel like you were a physical enough defense last year yeah I feel like we were physical enough okay so you were saying you're keep want to keep it rolling yeah keep it rolling exactly I feel like I mean we did a lot of great things last year but there's still always stuff to improve on and I think that we're going to continue to do that um to get to where we want to get to this year that fun you obviously scored it was second team defensive Lin her can what does that say about this def line you're playing behind oh man our defense line FES around you see I mean even some of them screens some of them pass they got to the perimeter they're flying around tracking it back I think coach J does such a good job emphasizing how they run to the ball like if you look at r d line I think that's what separates him from across the countries how much they run to the ball so I mean they run to the ball and they make plays like that so excited to play with them I know you got that's called K kind of a Maniac he runs what do you think of that hit oh man kayen lit him up so I appreciate him doing that man how how much does it free you up give you confidence to make a big play like that with the guys that you have around you like Caleb Denzel everybody else I think that's what's so special about our defense is that by us just doing our job you never know who's going to make a play like there's always an opportunity for any of us to make a big play in the game you seen Denzel me seen um a gay today and stuff like that so I mean everyone just does their job and plays it come
