hey there delawarians whether you're new to the first state or have been here for a while I've got something incredibly important to talk about today voting yep mark your calendars for September 10th because that's primary election day here in Delaware since Delaware is a blue State those who get nominated are the ones who will be elected on November 5th now I know what some of you might be thinking why should I bother well let me break it down for you democracy is this beautiful yet fragile thing in it's filled with benefits but it also comes with duties and responsibilities and let me tell you every vote counts Especially Yours first let's talk about the duties you have as an American citizen number one obeying the law it sounds simple right but without it society would be chaos next up is paying taxes I know it's not fun but those taxes fund essential services like education infrastructure and defense then there's jury duty you might see it as a chore but it ensures we have a fair judicial system and for the guys aged 18 25 registering with the selective service is a must it's about maintaining a strong Defense Force now onto responsibilities starting with voting voting is your voice in shaping the future of your community State and Country engaging in the Democratic process whether it's attending Town meetings or just staying informed makes a huge difference respecting the rights of others is crucial we live in a divers diverse nation and everyone deserves to have their voice heard and respected community service is another big one volunteering not only helps others but it also builds a stronger Society so what do you get out of all this well a lot you get the right to vote access to government benefits like Social Security and Medicare and security through National Defense and law enforcement and let's not forget the passport benefits employment opportunities and family reunification plus you enjoy full constitutional rights and access to education opportunities ever wonder why some neighborhoods are well-kept and others aren't it's often about Civic engagement communities where people volunteer and participate in Civic duties tend to thrive if you've moved to a good school district only to find that the standards have started to decline ask yourself what has changed schools don't run themselves what part did you play participation is key so delawarians take this as your call to action September 10th is your chance to contribute to your community and make your voice heard don't let this opportunity pass by head to the polls cast your vote and be a part of making Delaware an even better place to live remember democracy is not a spectator sport it's a team effort and every player every voter makes a difference see you at the polls on September 10th vote for Matt Meyers as the next Governor remember Matt Meers for governor thanks for listening and make sure to share this video with your friends and family let's get everyone involved take care
