Urban Meyer's thoughts on Chip Kelly, Nebraska, and OSU | 97.1 The Fan

hey Buckeye fans Stephanie OD here with another update on Ohio State football we've talked a lot about the offense this week during fall Camp we've heard from Chip Kelly Ryan day and of course the announcement that will Howard will be the starting quarterback but now former head coach of the Buckeyes Urban Meyer chimes in to the Colin coward show and he talks about some of the expectations for this season the 12-game playoff and what he said is that he is just really pumped to see Chip Kelly offense with Ohio State I'm anxious to see it Urban said that it's going to be something that they're really going to watch on big noon kickoff he's known chip for a very long time they're close they've spent a lot of time going over the spread offense but he said that Buckeye fans and and college football fans could be surprised as what this offense will look like under Chip Kelly he spoke about chip as the head coach of Oregon and as a coordinator there his philosophy there was to just go fast and that it'll very different as to how he evolved when he went to the NFL and with UCLA now he's a guy that's going to huddle take his time to get the perfect play on and with UCLA they were physical he liked to run and use their quarterback on the ground which also ties into how they got to that will Howard decision will Howard is I met I I met him when I was in Columbus what a great looking guy he is and I understand he's really fast and athletic and on videotape he looks that way but they wanted a mobile quarterback that is something you can expect it just really fits the scheme and coach said that Urban Meer said that he really thinks that he is great for Ohio State expecting big things and just speaking about the West Coast further ER Meer has played against West Coast teams the his final two years as the head coach of Ohio State he played USC in the cotton ball and then Washington his final season in 2018 in the Rose bow seeing film from from the entire season now the Big 10 will have some of those West Coast teams throughout the regular season now that they're part of the conference but coach said that arguably the Pack 12 was the best conference last season and now that conference is just gone it's completely dismantled but from his time coaching the biggest difference that he noticed between the Pack 12 amongst the others big with the big 10 is that the Big 10 has a better offensive and defensive lines they're better at the line of scrimmage the Pack 12 yeah they have skilled players quarterback receivers but do they have the skill up front to compete in the Big 10 they're going to jump right in and be one of the top half of the Big 10 right but those those teams at the top of the Big 10 the offensive and defensive lines are pretty rugged that could be the edge over this Oregon game that we've been talking a lot about and can't wait to get to but Herm chiming in on the Ohio State offense Chip Kelly how some of these teams are going to pan out into the Big 10 he also said that his Dark Horse will be Nebraska neka who is also on the Buckeye schedule I'm a Nebraska fan you know if I was a player I'd love to go to Nebraska I got a lot of respect for Matt Ro so Nebraska would be my team so lots to look forward to make sure you guys stay tuned and check back in for all the updates throughout the Buckeye season right here at 971 the fan
