[Music] welcome welcome welcome everyone welcome to the Don Lemon show we're so glad that you're here we quickly I want to get to my first guest congresswoman Jasmine Crockett congresswoman it's so good to see you thank you for joining you were a rockstar at the convention I didn't get to see you in person I was all over that place but I saw you on the stage how do you feel about your what you did and and the entire week uh and the co super spreader that it is let's be real oh my gosh um so thankfully I did not contract Co I don't know how except for God knew that I needed to be on the campaign Trail because somehow my mama my daddy as well as uh my driver all ended up Contracting covid and they interacted with less people but let me tell you something um that was probably this what I've been doing by the way just every day I listen I'm taking mine as well as as well as my vitamins and everything else um but that really was the most difficult thing that I've ever had to do um I've spoken in a lot of venues I've spoken to all different types of crowds but I felt as if I was needing to deliver a solid closing argument um in a short amount of time as to why the American people not just Democrats but the American people should look to kamla Harris for leadership um number one I basically took my Jabs at Trump by definitely pointing out the hypocrisy of the Republicans um by putting that on full display because of all the things that they claim to love uh and he is the antithesis of all those things um in addition to trying to make sure that people understand who she is on a deeper level it was very frustrating as people started trying to pretend as if she wasn't black and all this other kind of stuff yeah and I know that people always look at me and think I'm super black so um I thought it was really important that I share what the initial interaction was like between the two of us so that people could number one if they have any questions find out that yes she really is black but also really just find out that she's actually a good person with a good heart um and I hope that that came across well it's I think that whole argument is so dumb and for years I've been trying to explain that to people and of course the right-wing media takes it out of context where they they can certainly understand if someone is Irish and Italian right that they're European they I mean and they can't understand that as someone you know there are people who are um afro Jamaican they're AFR Cuban they're African like there are different shades and degrees of Blackness but that we're all black and we're all treated the same in America and somehow for to for people not to understand that uh and by you know being a uh a Jamaican American black person does not negate her Blackness like it's just it's just it's just bizarre to me but listen that is over and I think it's dumb it was dumb for I think Donald Trump really damaged himself by doing that by by saying what he said um at the nij and in his interview but now she has been interviewed and we have a clip from her interview that will run tonight and I want to play it for you I want to get your reaction here it is generally speaking how should voters look at some of the changes that you've made uh that you explained some of here uh in your policy is it because you have more experience now and you've learned more about the information is it because you were running for president in a Democratic primary and should they feel comfortable and confident that what you're saying now is going to be your policy moving forward Dana I think the the the most important and most significant aspect of my policy perspective and decisions is my values have not changed you mentioned the green New Deal I have always believed and I have worked on it that the climate crisis is real that it is an urgent matter to which we should apply metrics that include holding ourselves to deadlines around time we did that with the inflation reduction act we have set goals for the United States of America and by extension the globe around when we should meet certain standards for reduction of greenhouse gas emissions as an example that value has not changed my value around what we need to do to secure our border that value has not changed I spent two terms as the Attorney General of California Prosecuting transnational criminal organizations violations of American laws regarding the passage illegal passage of guns drugs and human beings across our border my values have not changed what do you think yeah so I don't have context for uh what all happen obviously we'll see it a little bit later but I will tell you that honestly I would like to have policy makers that are not so stringent um that they cannot change with The Changing Times what I mean by that is you shouldn't be flip-flopping and being somebody completely different um I don't see that unless you've been enlightened right like let's say you were somebody who was against abortion and now you realize that people are actually dying and abortion is actually health care then that's an Enlightenment but honestly you know let's look at things such as the pandemic no one necessarily anticipated that and you may have had one stance about the Investments that need to be made as it relates to medical research and then now you may have a more enlightened stance but I do think that it is important that people understand where people are coming from when it comes to their morality if they have any um and when it comes to their values if they have any because we really should be looking at what values does a person have and what is it that they're going to strive towards she's always been someone who has fought for the middle class she's still going to be someone who's fighting for the middle class will that fight potentially look different absolutely because guess what our interest rates are a lot higher than what they were um you know just a few years ago when people could afford to actually move into homes um so you know and dealing with inflation right we've always had inflation but we ended up with hyperinflation as it relates to This Global pandemic and it was a global inflation that we struggled with and so now she's going after the price gouging was price gouging something that was really one of the big things on the agenda potentially not because maybe it wasn't necessarily something that was running so rampant and really harming so many everyday people so um I look forward to watching the entirety of the interview but I do think that it is important that we determine whether or not someone's values have completely changed based upon the policy positions that maybe they took in the past versus the policy positions they took now and if this was an enlightened change or a detrimental change well I'm I'm surprised that you know well I shouldn't be surprised but for U Republicans or Maga people or Donald Trump or anyone associated with him or the you know the right-wing media to say well she's changed on this she's changed on that Donald Trump changed his stance allegedly on abortion right um Barack Obama changed his stance on same-sex marriage there people who evolve over the years uh when they get new information right and the student loans Biden was not necessarily but but here it is he um ended up he will go down in history you know because this Administration has has relieved 176 billion dollar for the student loan debt that was not something he was on the Forefront of right so yeah I think that we get to a space in which we may learn which I hope that we never stop learning especially as Leaders we should be listening number one to the people that we serve and we also should be listening to experts which we know that one side does not like to listen to experts about anything well you were talking about price gouging and when you know as it relates to the economy and I've heard so many people say well there's no price gouging that's something that they're making up and I just just going through Kroger just yesterday executive admits right that they goug prices above inflation cro Kroger senior director of of pricing Andy grth said that the grocery giant had raised prices for eggs and milk Beyond inflation levels Kroger is not the only one price gouging is a real issue it is it is and you know what there are certain things it's it's amazing how we forget how bad things used to be but let me tell you something not everybody in this country has a checking account and always has all the money in their bank account to make it to the next payday right so they're definitely have been people that like listen I gotta overdraft my account just so I can make it and then I'll get my deposits but those overdraft fees alone I mean why are you charging 30 something dollars per overdraft per like y'all just making money off of people that are obviously already struggling because they already are overdrawn so what did they do they slash the prices on that um when we think about insulin like they constantly talk about what was done with insulin but let me tell you what is so Insidious about what was happening with insulin insulin cost about 10 cent 10 cent a vial to actually produce yet people were paying thousands of dollars and needed insulin to survive that's yet another example of price gouging and so we have seen it consistently so yes we understand that inflation happens and I do want to be clear that in America inflation has actually slowed down um more than our contemporaries anybody else that would be on our level um in addition to you know as we are members of Congress we travel the world and as we're talking to other countries our recovery has been better does that mean that it is perfect does that mean that there's not more work to do absolutely not but that is why she is trying to address the issues that she can in the presidency position but I need people to understand that the president can't fix everything in your life ah all right now um I want to talk to you just um if we can quickly and if I play this sound bite I may get out of it but it's very emotional uh it's it's you at the convention talking about hey y'all was GNA get out of politics and I had this conversation with the vice president with con Harris and watch the chaos caucus couldn't elect a speaker and the oversight committee was unhinged I was going through all of this when I visited the vice president's res presid for the first time as I approached vice president Harris for our official photo she turned to me and asked what's wrong mind you we' never met but she saw right through me she saw the distress I immediately began crying okay let's stop it right there let's stop it right there what happened it's hard to even watch back um it's hard for me to ever tell that story without crying um and uh you know here's the deal um there are people that get into politics for a variety of reasons some what did she tell you that what did she tell you because I didn't let the story finish oh oh she definitely told me that I was where I was supposed to be yeah um she actually said a few other things um she told me definitely never let them see you sweat um she told me that my district elected me because they believe in me and so did she um she just took time to pour into me and this is in the middle of a picture line y'all um I was there because the black caucus was invited uh to the vice president's home and so one of the parts of the story that we left out because we had to shorten it plus I was trying to make sure I didn't cry was that I was there and I was surrounded by Black Hawk as members and granted these members had just met me and I hadn't been um in office very long but it was odd that even with all of my colleagues they had no idea of what was going on with me and they actually knew me in some way this was her very first time ever meeting me and she immediately could see that something was wrong like my mind was in a different place you know I wasn't really in the moment and enjoying the fact that oh my God I'm at the vice president's residence and it's a black woman right like this is actually like a big deal and like I should be so but my mind was elsewhere like physically I was there but mentally I just I felt I felt conflicted because to be one of less than 60 black women to ever have the privilege of swearing into Congress it's a huge deal but then at the same time to say I don't really know if this is really what I want to do it's almost like that's a first world problem girl like you know it was really a challenging time and it was more so because I felt like if I'm not doing more than I could do at home in a courtroom then why am I doing this like I I didn't sign up just to say that um I had a title I signed up to actually better people's lives and I could make an impact we're glad that you stayed because without you we wouldn't have so many things including the great moments that we have of you just reading people on the floor of wherever you are and we wouldn't have the bleach blond bad built but body but I also I want to talk to you about polling okay uh and this is I'm going to play a Quick Clip and then I'm going to get your response this is new polling actually showing the vice president is doing really really well and this is from Fox watch now out east to North Carolina former president Trump is also ahead there by one point we'll say that he wins the state of North Carolina we are going to give the State of Arizona to the vice president and then the recent polling showed President Biden Five Points behind in North Carolina and it's very very tight right now so go back to the map it goes brings us to 264 to 258 again 270 is what you need to win and guess what remains Georgia Georgia remains it was the closest contest in 2020 decided by less than a quarter of a percentage point in favor of President Biden our recent polling showed the widest Gap six points for former president president Trump over President Biden but now that has closed Harris has a two-point lead in our latest poll it's expected to be a close race that's obviously within the margin of error but both candidates are spending a lot of time in Georgia and if that lead holds she wins Georgia she wins the presidency of the United States Fox News Charlie he he almost sounded like he was ready to cry listen you know I I uh you know polls are great um I I must say that I was really blessed to have an amazing poller it's kind of required on the federal level I never had it on the state level um my initial horse race poll had me over 30 points ahead of my entire field of nine people ultimately when I went through the first round of my election I was over over 30 points ahead of my entire field so it was spoton right it really was um polling has a use number one it tells you kind of where you are potentially at a specific point in time and it also helps to guide your messaging it helps to let you know what it is that people want you to talk about and what they respond to and how to potentially get those numbers to move the thing is you always want to make sure you can move those numbers in your direction so I don't want anyone to think that this is over this is far from over this may make people feel good that the poll's looking good but let me tell you something if it's raining if it's snowing if it's sleeping if it's a tornado I'mma need you to stay in line I'mma need you to stay in line just forget all the polls the day because the only poll that matters is the PO at the polling location that is the only one that matters so I don't want y'all to lit up I need y'all to pull like we used to do this thing where we uh would drag people to the polls as we would call we would go we would pick them up and drag them out listen I need y'all to pull out all the stops because I'm telling you this Republicans have decided if they can't win in an actual Democratic way then they will cheat so what does cheating look like and I know that that's something that they throw around and they throw it around Loosely but let me tell you what they are doing is they've gone from voter suppression which in my opinion is a form of cheating because you were cheating people out of their rightful access to The Ballot Box and you're claiming all this BS to do it but now they've gone to voter subversion right if I don't like the results then let's do what Trump said when he was on that Georgia phone call let's just go find me some more or let's just throw some out or let's just not count some that is what we're doing so in the state of Texas they've decided to to throw millions of people off of our voter roles they are purging voter roles everywhere and something tells me they're not purging them in um Rural America they're only purging them in the areas and and they're looking for certain names um and those are the kinds that they want to purge out of the system um and so I encourage everyone to continuously check your voter registration status and make sure you are good to go and don't let anybody turn you away if you know that you are rightfully legally allowed to vote then you cast a provisional vote or whatever your state has and let us fight it out in court but do not seed your power to these people that are trying to get rid of our democracy and turn it into an autocracy one more thing that I want to ask you about uh as it relates to to this we saw the interview uh at least a clip one clip from the interview and she's sitting down with her running mate Tim Walls now there have been uh pundits out there saying that it's weak sauce said she needed the man and she had to do this and she needed Tim Wallace why couldn't she sit down by herself she can't answer the questions I just want to put this up so that you can see it and that our our subscribers and viewers can see it as well because this is uh Trump sitting down for an interview with Mike Pence uh Mitt Romney sitting down with an interview with uh Paul Ryan Hillary Clinton sitting down with an interview with Tim kanaine John McCain sitting down in an interview with Sarah Palin what's up with this why why her well we know why her but also let's just point out the fact that like would you want to sit next to JD Vance I mean like Trump isn't sitting down with JD because it's JD like no one wants to be around this guy right so yeah she doesn't have to follow his lead and do things the way that he does it in fact we don't want her to follow his lead because we know that when he sits down he doesn't know how to answer a question he probably does a Lifeline but I'm sure when people tune in they will realize that she's a full uh adult and that she can answer questions on her own and she doesn't have to uh have a cheat sheet whatsoever but I do think that it shows unity and I I think that that's what we are seeing we are seeing a divided ticket when it comes to JD Vance and Trump trump has buyers remorse at this point he's definitely trying to run away from JD JD does not help him he only hurts him and who could imag imagine that anybody could hurt Trump I thought anybody could help him out because Lord knows he just bad on his own but JD is just that bad right so like I do think that it shows what I hope that America wants to see which is that these are two people the number one have a genuine chemistry um and that they are unified in working in a partnership that is one thing that President Biden always said about his relationship with vice president Harris is that it was a partnership and it was my anticipation that when went out to look for a vice president she was looking for a partner and I think that that's what you're going to see and I think it's the best um scenario for the American people yeah I think he did do one interview uh with JD Vance but I for me I feel like the deao running mate now uh is RFK Jr because people thought like oh you know he's gonna get rid of JD Vance but he doesn't really have to he can let JD now uh take all the slings and arrows right and then he can just cozy up with RFK as if RFK is the running mate it's I thought that was pretty slick of him congresswoman go get that plane thank you all right see you later hopefully we'll see you tonight uh after the interview thank you so much travel safe congresswoman Jasmine Crockett uh we were going to spend a little bit more time with her but she has a plane to catch and we want to be respectful we want to be mindful we want to be demure kidding you guys if you guys know that I'm I'm sick of hearing it but I had to say that little funny thing but anyways we have a lot going on um the they are uh are campaigning in Georgia even going to the rural areas meaning uh the Harris walls campaign uh they're out in Georgia and going around in the bus and people are wondering why are they going to these super rural conservative area areas they're trying really just to cut down right to to to to to close the gap as much as they can uh in those areas also to reach out to those folks uh as well it's so funny I know you guys where did the demure thing come from says Bernie C Bernie C it came from a tick tocker uh and I forgot her name Queen something I forget her name but anyways this Tik Tock remind me in the thing if you want to and she came up with this thing see how I go to work I you know I go to work you know I don't wear full makeup I don't wear wing tip uh whatever I whatever and so it became it went um viral and so now a lot of people are are talking about it so anyways um there you go uh so that's where it all came from anyway there is are you more mindful or Dem that's that is that is the poll hilarious um so that's it anyways we have a lot to talk about because the former president is as we speak is in Michigan and last I saw he was giving an interview he also said during the interview that I was watching that uh KLA Harris um was sort of the brainchild and the the um the leader of the defund the police movement which is a lie she was never the leader of the defund the police movement did she support the protesters during George Floyd yes did she say defund the police at all ever not to my recollection at all as a matter of fact that would be interesting because she would essentially be defunding herself since she is a prosecutor okay so Donald Trump is out uh speaking now and let's see he is discussing I want to play this sound bite where he is talking about um about KLA Harris's name and how nobody knows it which is a lie as well but let's play it here it is nobody nobody really knows her they were doing something the man on the street yet they said you know Harris everyone's saying who the hell is Harris nobody knows who Harris is once the vice president's name they have no idea what the name is now the name Kamala is it's a little complex there about 19 different ways of pronouncing it right but Kamala is uh at least it's a name you sort of remember you can't use Harris cuz nobody knows who the hell Harris is who's Harris we want somebody they know and you know one of the reasons they don't know she did a lousy job she was cons okay so listen they know her and I I was on MSNBC and I said that meaning by don't know her it means that they're not as familiar with her as they are with other people now if you've ever seen man on the streets look and I've done I've been doing man on the street interviews since the 90s since I started in news it's nothing new and and and everyone thinks oh it's New Media and now it's you tick tocker and all that no um by the way any I'll explain that later so doing man on the street is nothing new but you can show man on the people on the street a picture of the president and they won't know who it is you can show them a picture of Oprah and they don't they won't know who it is people don't they aren't as tuned in as you think they are and so someone not knowing who KLA Harris is doesn't say anything about kamla Harris as a matter of fact it says something about them and it actually makes say something about their lives that they're just busy and they're trying to take care of their families they're trying to go to work every single day so but by saying that they don't know her it doesn't mean that they are not aware of who she is it just means that they are not as familiar with her as they may be with a Donald Trump or a Barack Obama or Michelle Obama simply because those people have been in the Zeitgeist for a lot longer now as far as saying her name um he knows it's a lie he knows it's because he's the the biggest you know Arbiter of of saying her name improperly sometimes he catches himself right and he says it right and then he has to go back to saying it wrong and it's so easy to say her name all you have to do is think about a comment in the sentence I've been saying this for since she has been uh I think I was saying this since 2019 or whenever she started running for president that it was easy and I gave a tutorial on CNN it's easy just think of a comma in the sentence and put a l on it Comm it's so easy it's so easy but people do it on purpose now there are people who do it because they hear it so much from other people who are doing it on purpose and they may hear it and they make get confused about it and if you say something to them they'll say oh I'm sorry I mispronounced her name uh and I'm sorry about that so let's move on I want to talk about other things we talked about the polling and the polling is interesting to me because what it shows is that people are uh are getting to know uh who kamla Harris is who the vice president is is they are getting to know who she is they are becoming familiar with her now if you listen to the rhetoric on the right right they'll say oh what has she done she's done nothing as since she's been vice president number one it's the president who actually does policies and this whole idea about her being the Border Zar is a lie as well because we don't have Zars now was she put in charge of certain countries to help them do better so that they wouldn't feel that they had to that their people had to so many of them had to come to America yes and she actually uh made leeway with that but as far as solving the entire border crisis Donald Trump was there for four years he didn't solve the Border crisis Barack Obama was there for eight years he didn't solve it George Bush was there for eight years he didn't solve it it it it is an intractable problem somewhat only because no one wants to work together and and at this very moment it is because Republicans don't want to work the Maga Republicans or the republicans in Congress don't want to work with the Democrats because they think it's going to help they thought it was going to help Joe Biden now they think it's going to help kamla Harris so there was a conservative Bill put on the table to help fix the Border crisis and the immigration problem and guess what Republicans voted against it because they thought it might help the incumbent which was a Democrat Donald Trump said don't do it it's gonna hurt me and help him now he thinks it's GNA hurt him and help her so don't buy all the from Donald Trump about the and Maga and um what's his name JD Vance about uh her being the borders are and all that it's all Bs that's all bull so don't buy that so people are getting to know her and what they're getting to know they really like and that bothers the conservatives I shouldn't say it bothers the conservatives it bothers the Maga trolls it bothers Donald Trump it bothers JD Vance it Bo it bothers right-wing media because they want to try to make her into a character or a caricature of herself as they do with many people they did it with me they did it with my colleagues they did it with Joe Biden they did it with they do it with everyone and people somehow end up believing that because that's what they see all day over and over and over conservative news they see it in the New York Post they see it in the Daily Mail they see it on Fox news they see it on Newsmax or on oan or any of those things caricatures of of people and it's not who they really are but they do it on purpose that is the purpose that is the rais on Detra of conservative media and the outlets that I mentioned is to do that because if they did an honest portrayal of people then they wouldn't sell as many papers quite frankly they wouldn't get as many clicks and so what people are seeing about her they're liking her conservative media is oh my God she's laughing all the time she's whatever and that's what they say and then the people who sit down and watch Fox News all day oh she laughs all the time and everything is funny and then if that doesn't work then they say oh my God she is a cop she's a prosecutor no one wants a cop no one wants a prosecutor which would be a serious person so then she's too serious you feel me you see the is that the hypocrisy there see the conflict there so what they're saying they're really liking and her digital team knows that more than anything so the more of the right-wing crazy Maga people keep laughing at her uh and her at her being a real person that they're seeing in these interviews or old clips that are showing up they're blasting them out there because they know people are engaging and that has uh voter registration up for black young black people young black women for Latino and brown people and women the numbers are up in some cases up to 175% because people are like you know what I want to laugh I don't want to always have to fight with people this is what they're liking this is what uh kamla HQ the kinds of things they're putting up it's simply her cooking with her family and her niece watch and her husband this process of the juice and then just come on honey it's a Bast J what are you doing now caramelizing the onions tell me more tell me more no you need to I need to learn vide try to teach you you're more interested in being a video look at that get in my belly oh you're so cute so you know they meant that well they put out things like that but they meant for evil as as they said what what they meant for evil God meant for good what they meant for evil the American people are meaning it for good because it is catching on I heard she's a great cook a lot of videos of her cooking and guess what people do almost every night almost every family almost every family in America except if you're a New Yorker or you I mean you live in a big city people order a lot people cook that's what they do that's relatable there can people are multifaceted you don't have to be sitting at home saying oh my gosh woe is me yes I understand that times hard for a lot of folks people are struggling but people are not in grief and sadness and anger every single minute of their lives and people find Joy where they can and that's my word I'm not saying Joy because everyone's you know at the convention said Joy but that's simply an old you know saying from the church and the old thing that my family used to say or my parents and my grandparents U find your joynal joy of wherever you can and so people are finding it wherever they can and people I find when cooking I remember when I when I first left my job I did a lot of cook I cooked for the dogs I made meals every night I cooked for Tim and me I cooked for his family I would cook for my friends they would come over I was like wow I have all this free time on my hand that I didn't have before what am I gonna do I'm gonna cook but that's what people do so that is a little nutty to me now here's what's interesting what they're not doing is I don't know if you guys have seen this as well I want to put this up this is a So speaking of cooking um she did kind of what I did she cooked a lot of french fries in her life because as a 15-year-old I worked at McDonald's uh growing up and so did she I think she was old she was probably 16 years old I was supposed to be 16 I thought I was 15 I was started working there and a couple months into it they came and said how old are you and showed me the dri I had to show them my driver's license they said you're too young to work here and they kicked me out um but as she worked at McDonald's as well and there's this controversy now where the I think it's the Free Beacon um let me check my notes the the Free Beacon is uh went to get her McDonald's records they're saying that it's talking about they they believe that she's lying about a summer job because she did not put it on uh either a transcript or on a resume or something and now they're getting for it because people are like what am I supposed to now or was I as an adult when I appli for jobs at you know at channel five or Channel 10 or whatever was I supposed to put my McDonald's background on there I didn't and apparently she didn't either is that all they got it's ridiculous and now they're getting for it and you know what they should get for it because it's absolutely ridiculous the other thing is is that the person she is catching on with the American public and it's not just me I'm not just being biased they know it the polling is showing it she's closed the Gap from when Joe Biden was in the race excuse me Vice pres President Biden was in the race she's closed that Gap so it's obvious that people are liking her I mean that is I mean that's obvious right and but they're not you know who's not catching on you know the reason that Donald Trump is bro kissing RFK and just hugging him and I mean they're just you know like mutton Jeff sorry well you know why because people aren't feeling JD Vans now if you are a republican if you're a conservative and you are in Boston and you are speaking in front of firefighters what kind of a reception would you expect to get wouldn't you expect to be Lov I mean the firefighters I know love Donald Trump the firefighters I know now I'm not saying all of them for the most part they love Maga they're very conservative right they believe in they stick with the police right back the blue they're that kind th those kinds of guys and gals if you want to and remember gals is the equivalent of guys so don't tell me I'm being sexist all right so if you were saying gentlemen then it would be ladies but they they're that kind of gals or that kind of guys but here's JD Dance in Boston today speaking in front of firefighters watch guys thank you so much well CI guys we got some sounds like we got some fans and some haters that's okay list listen he got booed by firefighters I may have expected that if it was a Democrat what guys what is going on with JD Vance what do you think is happening why is he not catching on could it be because he is attacking another group remember it was childless cat ladies it was um other people with people without children and people with children should get you know more rights to vote all kinds of things right and these aren't just one-offs everyone has a flub everyone has a slip of the tongue and they're oh my let me pull that back I I didn't mean to say that I didn't mean to say the Lord knows I've been on television for years and whatever and I'm like why did I say that that's not what I meant right but he has he's he is emphatic and does not apologize for it when he sat down with Dana another danab bash interview when he sat down um with Kristen Welker of NBC when he sat down um with others I think he sat down uh with was it Stephanopoulos I forget he won't apologize he doubles down on it now there's another one he is attacking teachers why I think our conservative idea is that parents and family should determine what children learn what values they are brought up with you know so many of the leaders of the left and I ha to be so personal about this but they're people without kids trying to brainwash the minds of our children and that really disorients me and it really disturbs me Randy wein Garten who's the head of the most powerful teachers union in the country she doesn't have a single child if she wants to brainwash and destroy the minds of children she should have some of her own and leave ours hell what is wrong with him what is his thing about children what is his thing about children do you know most of my teachers growing up didn't have kids most of them they were nuns and don't tell me they didn't love God or love this country what is this issue with and I have plenty of friends men and women who don't have children I don't understand it what is his obsession there's something weird I didn't even think about it but there's something weird I'm not saying that on purpose that came to me just honestly came to me there's something really odd about it what is it what is this obsession and it's just it's just the whole weird thing that he's in these interviews where he said and listen I just he saying when I was a kid I convinced myself I was gay and then my grandmother like yelled at me and then he starts talking about and then you know the whole thing I don't care you know him and drag at the as a paternity party people do that all the time whatever but he brings the criticism on him himself because of his stance on certain issues so he makes people wonder thou doth protest too much maybe what is going on there and then his whole idea about kids and then and then the Maga people trying to correct that ill by carrying around JD Vance specimen cups tell me that is not some weird Behavior would you ever do that would you ever put a Tamp on your ear too because Donald Trump got nicked in the ear by either shrapnel or a bullet would you ever do that I mean that's some weird he's worried about teachers nin's also attacking vice president Harris over something that she did not do okay he's attacking her because she's talking about learn Lear about let me see um to people learning about this disgraceful Behavior what he's talking about is this whole Cemetery issue okay let me tell you about the cemetery controversy just in case you haven't okay so um this is Arlington National Cemetery and I when I when I woke up I saw it on television the other day and it was Donald Trump um and Fox News covering oh breaking news Donald Trump is at Arlington and he's um honoring the folks who died on the exit uh from Afghanistan which of course you should do you should honor them and I F offer for their families and everyone involved in that okay but it was a stunt so according to NPR two members of Donald Trump's campaign staff had a verbal and physical altercation Monday with an official at Arlington National Cemetery where the former president participated in a wreath laying ceremony fine can do that and he should a sour source with knowledge of the incident said the cemetery official tried to prevent Trump staffers from filming and photographing in a section where recent us casualties are buried it is against federal law The Source said Arlington officials had made clear that only Cemetery staff members would be authorized to take photographs or film in that area known as section 60 when the cemetery official tried to prevent Trump campaign staff from entering section 60 campaign staff verbally abused and pushed the official aside that is according to the sauce the source and do you know how Trump and Vance are responding to people learning about this disgraceful Behavior by telling people by saying that kamla Harris can go to hell play it is disgraceful we're going to talk about a story out of those 13 Brave innocent Americans who lost their lives it's that kamla Harris is so asleep at the wheel that she won't even do an investigation into what happened and she wants to yell at Donald Trump because he showed up she can she can go to hell okay you know go to hell and that is JD Vance and I'm gonna tell you about why because that's a lie to my knowledge I have not heard Donald Trump I have not heard KLA Harris vice president mention anything about about this at all he's just randomly attacking her for no reason because they need a boogeyman they need someone to attack for their mistake why can't they just say I'm sorry they wanted a photo op why can't why can't they just admit that they screwed up because they have such issues with the military and with gold star families and remember giving the the honor and the the medal of freedom to a civilian and they said one was better than other uh it was it was more prestigious than giving it to a member of the military F that one up how he attacked goldar families from 2015 2016 on suckers and losers that he continues to lie about and say that he didn't say and when all of the generals and military people in his administration said he said it and now he is using those 13 people that JD Vance feel so strongly about as a photo op as a photo op and wants to blame the backlash on the vice president it's vile and disgusting and I think it's disqualifying from sitting in the Oval Office it should be disqualifying as if that's I mean there are Myriad other reasons that I believe that both of them are disqualified and I have never ever until now leaned into politically where I was leaning telling people where I was leaning for an election I just didn't do it I'm independent now and I can tell you and I'm not a Democrat nor am I a republican I kind of feel like Oprah she said she's a registered independent I am a registered independent I don't believe in political parties but I will tell you we have to preserve our democracy and there as far as I'm concerned only two people in this race and I know JFK Jr I know you guys think he's a viable option not I know you guys may some of you may think Jill Stein is a viable option not I'm not throwing my vote away and even my friend who I love Cornell West Cornell West good guy I can't throw my vote away I love you and I wish you all the best but I cannot throw my vote away I tell you who I will not be supporting and that is the person who is lying about an election who tried to overthrow and overturn an election who is found uh liable for sexually assaulting a woman who continues to insult women who don't have children that's what I'm not supporting in this election and I can't see how anyone can support it I don't understand how people can make such excuses for such bad behavior being found guilty on so many charges and then taking pe people's you talk about people who are hurting so many people are hurting and they're sending their money to Donald Trump and the first portion of their money and maybe the biggest portion goes to paying his legal bills and you say that you are you care about the American people and and and their pocket books and their everyday lives if you did you certainly you wouldn't be having them give your their money to pay your lawyers high price ones at that really that's how much you care about me I know I wouldn't be giving your ass any money to pay your lawyers would you I'm just saying and that is why you guys need to read this we talk all about it uh I don't know if you've seen our social media but we have been leaving these books and a lot of people on Twitter are really really mad I love it when they get upset over there on the Twitter um they're really upset because of the social media campaign that we've been doing and they're like I throw it in the garbage and you're littering or whatever good hey go out and buy it I don't care thank you very much for the click I appreciate it thank you very much and maybe who knows maybe I'll see it in my if I get any monetization from there uh so make sure you order the book thank you Jean Williams don't think I'm not reading these uh these comments in the go with this election so I'm not putting the cart before the horse but I would I think I think it's really important I I have spent my career inviting divers of opinion I think it's important to have people at the table when some of the most important decisions are being made that have different views different experiences and I think um it would be to the benefit of the American public to have a member of my cabinet who was a republican H interesting what do you guys think of that do you think it's okay for her to put some um big dendy Piccolo says kenzinger um yeah what do you guys think of that do you think okay love this powerful woman says John Klein for her to do that JD Vance's wife is Dei I don't know Michael H says that I agrees that she should have a republican in her cabinet says Teresa marleene no way no Republican says Kathy McGuire what do you guys think should she have a republican in the cabinet here's the thing it would be it I think that there would be very few choices quite honestly for her if she had a republican in her cabinet I think there would be very few choices because most of the Republicans have been co-opted by the magas in the extreme right wing in the party so I think that would be tough for her so perhaps the person because the Pickins are so slim she might be able to find a couple of good ones without having to search so hard because quite frankly there wouldn't be that much to search should vice vice president Kam Harris include a republican in her cabinet that is up on the screen what do you think it's definitely probably probably not you one thing too why I think that people are not feeling JD Vance let me just play this because he doesn't regret anything he says and this is the proof when I say things I'm not just saying things just because they're my opinion I'm saying things there's a difference between point of view and opinion my point of view is is maybe this about something and here's the evidence that leads me to that this is Kristen Welker asking him about these comments that he's made about these chalice cat ladies Etc and this is him saying I really don't give a damn watch Bureau estimates there are 22 million women between the ages of 20 and 40 who for whatever reason do not have children what do you say to those women who hear some of your comments including childless cat lady comments which you've been asked about but who feel as though you won't represent them well I'd say first of all I will represent you I want to be the vice president for the whole country and I want to represent everybody and yes I made a sarcastic comment years ago that I think that a lot of Democrats have willfully misinterpreted but what I've simply said is that I think that it's really a profound change that's happened in our country where we become anti-am and I would like to change that and I think if you talk to young women whether they have children or don't want want to have children uh what you consistently hear is that a lot of young women feel like they don't have options I saw this with my own wife who's a working mother who's a very very accomplished litigator she has three beautiful kids and always felt like she was having to balance being a good mom with being the kind of litigator that she wanted to be I just want women to have more choices I've seen that very personally in my own family and I think it's something that is broken about our country let me zoom out a little bit then you're calling it a sarcastic comment sure and yet some women and you got the feedback in real time felt like it was a gut punch to them personally do you regret making that comment look I regret certainly that a lot of people took it the wrong way and I certainly regret that the DNC and and KLA Harris lied about it do you regret what you said senator look Kristen I'm going to say things from time to time that people disagree with I'm a real person I'm going to make jokes I'm going to say things sarcastically and I think that what's important is that we focus on the policy there are certainly going to be things that I say if I'm elected vice president people are going to say well I wish he had said that differently I think it's most important to actually be the person I actually am and to say those sarcastic comments were made in the service of a real substantive point this country has become too anti-family it's too expensive to afford a house it's too expensive to afford groceries Donald Trump and I want to change that and unless we get better leadership we're not going to but but again just very quickly given that people have told you directly have spoken out have said that they were offended they were hurt by those comments do you wish you never made those childless cat lady comments I think that it's much more important for me to just be a normal human being who sometimes says things that people disagree with I have a lot of regrets Kristen but making a joke three years ago is not of the top 10 of the list okay what do you guys think Larry lens is in he said he said this years ago Let It Go um do you know how many times he said the same sort of Larry and if you said the same sort of look if he believes it then let him let him stand by it but he's saying I regret that they lied about it nobody lied he's like I regret that kamla Harris whatever lied about it nobody lied about it they're playing his sound bites back to him they're playing what he said back to him and he's taking offense by it and he's not apologizing so it's not like again like I said Larry and others this was not a oneof so if you don't believe what you said or you're sorry but just say I'm sorry yes I regret saying it especially the way it came out here's what I meant here's what I should have said but he's not saying that occasionally I'm GNA say stuff I'm a real person blah blah blah our country's done this he can't apologize because Donald Trump comes from the school of not apologizing of doubling down so I mean what do you guys think do you think he should apologize do you think he said it a long time ago and Let It Go he's still answering for it and one way to get it over with is say hey look I messed up I said something wrong or yeah you know I regret that it's caused all this controversy and that I wish that I would have said it differently yes he should
