Lindenwood University: Get Started on Your Journey

[Music] as veterans end one chapter of their lives as a transition out of the Armed Forces many start a new chapter with higher education this opens up a world of rewarding career possibilities of veterans and as you'll see Lindenwood University is uniquely qualified as a place to make it all happen my name is dwit White Jr and I'm the assistant director of military strategy and student EXP experience and I served 28 years in the United States Air Force and I retired at the rank of senior master sergeant hi my name is Conor binstein I was in the US Air Force for four years and I now a student here at Lindenwood University hi my name is Chris Schneider I'm a student here at Lenwood University and I'll be graduating in May I have been in the United States Army now for N9 years uh and have made it up to the rank of Sergeant historic Lindenwood University is located in St Charles Missouri which has been recognized by many as one of our nation's best small college towns but you don't necessarily have to live there to go there and for military veterans few universities are as dedicated as Lynden would in providing a smooth transition to a superior education only 4% of the uh total American population may have tended a branch of military so that communication and culture is very different a person that spent a reasonable amount of time through discipline the rigorous training camaraderie and they come to a place that's not the norm sometimes they have a problem adapting I was driving a troop transport as well I was a hum Gunner for the lead gun truck this is real life this isn't just a video game and you don't get to just reset everything it's the men and women around you their lives just as well it's important to get in the mindset that we train like we fight so we go over rehearsals over and over and over to where it becomes muscle memory you want to be able to act on a moment's notice everybody needs to do their job the right way every time I need to be able to put a pilot in to an aircraft and send him on his way and know that Jet's coming back cuz if that Jet's not coming back that Pilot's life could be lost and that depends on my decisions and my crew working Personnel I've seen a lot of people that actually deployed over into uh theater and did not return that's very tough because I had the job of going out and contacting family members letting them know exactly what happens that's something that um when we take that oath that's something that we know what we're going into so that's why I'm very passionate about uh supporting our veterans is because they volunteer to give their life for their country the VA really helps especially at Linwood and so they're helping me a lot with that transition it definitely does make me a little nervous on how I'm going to be able to adapt and overcome just going from military life to retirement I'm now noticing how different it is in in the civilian world just cuz I was you know always amped ready to go everything needed to be done perfectly the first time and it's just a lot different not everything is you know life or death anymore I don't know what it would be like if I didn't attend linderwood I attended while I was serving in the air force it was convenient and it offered me to maximize military benefit linderwood played a very important role within my career with the military so that's one of the reasons why I came to lindawood to work to give back I do think that coming to lynen Wood will help me with my career path I pick this because the Cyber program is so coveted it also allowed me to be able to be home with my family with my son during the day as well as my schooling at night online can be quite uh challenging you know to figure out how can a veteran maximize their GI Bill I know a couple other veterans at a couple other universities that have to do everything all the heavy lifting themselves and here they just took care of it for me cuz they wanted me to come here and they wanted me to feel cared for here we offered 20% discount for veterans that have exhausted their benefit or to the spouses and dependents also that may not have benefits I love waking up every day here it's it's a beautiful campus every day holds a new possibility if you're thinking that you want to come to lyonwood I think it is 100% a great idea especially when it comes to coming out of the military they set you up for Success they help you along the way with whatever degree plan you want as well as they have many resources for all veterans and active duty members to be able to just get your degree and set you up for wherever life takes you next to start on your journey towards getting a degree at Lindenwood University or to learn more about their programs for active military and Veterans please visit lindenwood.edu for more [Music] information
