[Music] [Music] hey thanks for joining us on this Thursday afternoon we are tracking storms as they are heading into Minneapolis right now we do have a severe thunderstorm warning for Minneapolis right now so let's go ahead and get right into um our forecast or our our current conditions current radar right here um hang on I'll fix that all righty there we go all right as always if you have any questions let me no um we can see the chat here I have Facebook pulled up so I should be able to see your questions momentarily I also have Twitter and YouTube pulled up so I should also see your questions on there as well let me know where you're watching from are you watching here at Oklahoma because you're just uh a little curious are you watching from Minnesota where we do have storms ongoing right now let me make sure I've got the right radar pulled up here all righty let's see what do you guys see this looks like the wrong radar but I can figure that up for you guys again as we mentioned as I've mentioned before we produce we forecast we make our own Graphics we kind of do everything ourself so sometimes you have to kind of bear with us as we're trying to figure out some these um some of these graphic errors or technical difficulties see how about now nope ah there we go there's Minneapolis okay so there you go Minneapolis we do have a severe Thor warning for Minneapolis um severe Thor warning and you can't see the text that I can see but I can see this and it says um hang on one second it a sever thunderstorm warning issued for the Twin Cities for 60 mph wind guests so very very similar to what we saw a few nights ago what was that um Monday night this is a wind event we have seen some hail with this I think especially with some of these storms that are farther back to the West you can see a little bit of hail with this however this looks very like very very windy to me um strong winds so we've got um 50 maybe 60 m per hour wind speeds right here and you know I'm thinking about all the people that just saw these really strong winds on Monday probably still doing clean up from that I wonder how the power outages are in this area because yesterday we still saw over 40,000 people or customers without power and once again we have another of storms coming through here so let's actually go ahead and kind of zoom out a little bit and I'll show you exactly what we're working with here so you can see that um we have storms highlighted here thunderstorm warning farther to the north of Minneapolis we actually have a tornado warning on this as well that's what you see there in purple that tornado warning um is located seems like there was a tornado produc uh s thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado there you go located near L drop I hope I'm saying that correctly moving to the Northeast about 55 miles an hour so we've got a tornado warning here thunderstorm warning outside of that and again that's north of Minneapolis um what we were watching for originally for today is that the biggest severe weather risk to be right in the center of the state so it looks like the National Weather Service actually did a really really good job job forecasting this year because that's exactly what we see right in the center of the state this over a little bit okay then of course we've been talking about this we have our severe thunderstorm warning for Minneapolis for all of these storms that are still pretty far back to the west but let's see how far back is this and also I didn't check my questions yet but is the audio good can you guys hear me okay you can see me fine I'm just making sure the audio is good on here sometimes we get an echo and is and as I say that we're going to get an echo yeah let me know if the audio is not great all righty so let's go back here so these storms are maybe 20 miles out of downtown Minneapolis and they're moving [Music] at moving to the East 40 miles an hour so we've got maybe 30 minutes until these storms are right in the heart of Minneapolis if you're on the western side of the city make sure that you go ahead and take your precautions now the Eastern side of the city You' maybe got about 30 minutes before you get through storms um farther down to the South you can see we've got another severe thunderstorm warning and this is still Central southern Minnesota including um Hansa I hope I'm saying that correctly new yum you guys are going to laugh at me how I pronounce some of these city names we've also got another sever thunderstorm warning further down to the South this is in Kansas actually this is just south of Oakley in Kansas now this St warning could actually be producing some good hail quarter sized hail in this area so let me know if you see any hail reports here I'll keep an eye on it as well go City that's where we're watching for quarter siiz tail and that's in Kansas but you can see we've got a long line of storms that are stretching anywhere from Western Kansas all the way up to Central and Eastern Nebraska just barely clipping Iowa here and then going right through the center portion of Minnesota I'm looking at Kansas City here we have some strong wind coming out of a late Kansas right now this looks like it's most likely moving in okay let's forward this to Kansas City right now so I wonder if this is going to get severe warn we could have a severe thunderstorm warning for Kansas City here momentarily as well so we'll keep an eye on that for you we'll see if this storm does anything else or if that was just one random wind gust o another tornado warning let's go back back to the radar and take a look at this tornado warning here okay so here's Minneapolis here's your radar for those of you who may have not watched Our Lives before that top left radar that is your reflectivity that is your classic that is what you see from um your TV news meteorologists usually but behind the scenes we have a lot of different Radars that we can take a look at or uh products of a radar so you can see that we've got velocity this a storm relative velocity this tells us a lot about not only rotation within the storm but also um how strong the wind speeds are kind of depending on what we're watching for here and that's what I'm going to be looking at whenever we go further down to the South for this tornado warning in HSA Hana I hope that I'm saying that correctly so this tornado warning is for let's see I'm reading through the National Weather Services statement here so you have capable of producing a tornado 14 miles south of new mm um moving to the Northeast at 20 M an hour the impact here flying debris will be dangerous for those caught without shelter mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed damage to roofs windows and vehicles will occur and tree damage is likely so this tornado warning is once again for it's moving the storm is moving to the Northeast at 20 M an hour and this tornado warning goes until 4:15 so we've got about 20 minutes on this tornado warning here what we're looking for here whenever we look for rotation within a storm we're looking for these Reds and greens to touch and whenever that happens and this is a little um I wonder if there's a better radar that we could be looking at here because it's a little high off the ground the farther away we are from the radar the higher off the ground you're looking at Into the Storm you want to be looking closer to the ground so let me see if there's another radar over here or if we if we're on the best one we may be on the best one here yeah looks like we're probably on the best radar right now either way whenever we see the red the green touchings pretty good indication that we probably have some decent rotation if not a tornado on the ground so the bottom left hand corner kind of where you see my video not terribly uh necessary for you to see this corner this again is just something that meteorologists use but this is called correlation coefficient and anytime we see blue in correlation coefficient not this stuff on the outside here no kind of like inside the red here anytime we see blue that means that we probably have debris lofted into the air so I'm not seeing that too significant right now I may take this off m maybe we're seeing that maybe we have a tornado that hits something maybe I want to see another radar skin here yeah if we've got several radar skin scans that have that blue pixel there we could have debris that's lofted into the air I'm wondering I bet this is too far out to get a really good camera on it but some of these Minnesota um transportation cameras can sometimes show you a really good picture of what's going on out there let's see if we can see something here um I don't see anything but I'll I'll show you my screen so you can see what I'm looking at do a little moving things around here okay so you can see that so here we are here's the tornado warant storm right there and actually this camera is not in a bad position I'm trying to get the video to play here but it looks like it is very very slow move and so to play so we'll see if that plays for us maybe we could get some sort of view of the storm itself maybe some structure in this not a bad location for this camera maybe let's see no not a great view storm here either camera may not be working its best today but yeah that's what you know sometimes we can see a really good view of the storms from some of these Transportation cameras sometimes we can't but while that loads let me see if I can look at your at your questions here and we can go back to the radar so you can see the radar since this isn't loading oops there you go back on the radar still watching this little couet here I'm not terribly impressed with it power grd's definitely something to watch and then we'll zoom out and we'll do kind of around the radar in just a minute as well all right we have some people on here from Monday night or maybe it was Tuesday night I've been live almost every day this week thanks for joining us again on YouTube let me check Facebook here as well several people on Twitter as well thanks for joining all right we have some people on here from Monday night and it looks like we have a little bit of a echo yeah let me know where you're watching from are you watching from Oklahoma maybe you're watching from Minnesota maybe you're just curious we have been watching the storm coming into Minneapolis right now you can see that it's coming really close to the radar so we may get some um some funky radar signatures here because it is coming so close to that radar but we'll continue to watch it here something that's interesting you can see right here if you kind of look to the south of um of Minneapolis parallel with the highway here you can see that we've got this bowing blue line so it's kind of making this backwards c-shaped hang on one second thank you I appreciate it I'm at work today so um instead of doing this from home so I'm saying AO to people at work anyway so this backwards sea shape here this is what we call um an outlow and what this means is that we've got some pretty strong winds coming out from this sometimes you feel that before the storms come in the wind will start to pick up and that's exactly what we're seeing what you're seeing from this blue line is that some of these um storms whenever it has the strong wind it'll pick up things like dust and maybe small bugs like butterflies um and we're actually picking up that dust and maybe there's small insects on the radar here so it's not rain it's just an indication of outflow from storms and I'm seeing a few more questions in here Jeremy asking where is the hail it hailed on August 11th in Minneapolis um everyone's already got new roofs it needs to hail elsewhere well here's the good news it's hailing all over Minnesota or at least it's storming all over Minnesota right now let me show you and zoom out here let's go to a radar to zoom out a little bit so I think it's easier to see there you go okay so I think it's easier to see this way so we do have a cigar therm watch that's highlighted here in Red so most of Minnesota and portions of Wisconsin is included in this sever thunderstorm watch and that goes until 9:00 this evening so we've got about five more hours on that that means as you're heading home from work you know if you have any friends in Minnesota as they're heading home from work they really need to be aware of where those storms are because we have a severe thunderstorm watch right now they need to have a plan in place right now we also have a severe thunderstorm warning further up to the north this is quite north of Minneapolis here just the south of Grant Rapids and this would be if I would bet any hail maybe in this area however again this is going to be more of a wind threat than a hail threat we can take a look at what these zero thunderstorm warnings are worn for not too impressive for Hail sizes and really not too impressive for wind gusts either we're talking about 60 mph wind gusts and quarter sized hail here um let's see for this one a little bit further to the South this is just worn for winds so not even warning for hail from the National Weather Service there and then this one coming into Minneapolis is for 60 mph wind gusts not not warned for hail in Minneapolis either however this is something that we've definitely been keeping an eye on we have a tornado warning in this area and I think that goes until um moving to the Northeast 20 miles an hour see where um how long this storm is tornado warant for I don't know when this warning expires but we'll keep it ey it for you it may have expired they may be letting this storm expire again we've been watching this on our more detailed radar over here and we're looking for this little cupet whenever the Reds touch the green that means the winds are going away from the radar and the green is going to the radar towards the radar and it's making a it's rotation within the storm essentially but the problem with this is that we are so far away from this radar we're looking pretty high up into the storm and we're probably looking at upper level rotation however at the surface we don't know there's a tornado actually on the ground I haven't seen reports of that but we'll continue to watch it watch it for you we do see some strong wind gr are indicated here maybe 40 45 miles an hour so it still feels like that severe thunderstorm warning at least is warranted taking you further back up to Minneapolis here I mean so this is right outside of Minneapolis proper in Victoria we do have some pretty strong wind with this this is 45 maybe maybe it's stronger than that for in some areas and then we can take you further down there we go um to the South here and you can see that we have other severe thunderstorm warnings this one's new this one's just north of Omaha in Iowa this severe thunderstorm warning is for Dow City and Dennison and deoe for Penny siiz tail and 60 mph wind guests that goes until 4:45 out side of the severe thunderstorm watch I may add and then we've got another lone severe thunderstorm warning at in ghost city in Kansas we also have a severe thundr war in or just outside of St Lewis right now it's nice whenever we can zoom out on the radar and really get a good look of what's going on here so this yeah just on the north side of the city little popup storm here this in St Louis is worn for 60 m per hour wind and quarter siiz tail and then we have these little popup showers and storms the heat of the day um sometimes you know you know the whole thing heat rises right and what goes up must come down so often times In the Heat of the day these storms would pop up feeling seemingly random and they could produce a little bit of hail mostly wind these are mostly going to be really strong wind storms um let's see 60 mph wind gust and Penny siiz tail for the storm that is over Moon Kentucky this one in Rey These Warnings are so little because these thunderstorms are also so little is worn for 60 m per hour wind gust and quarter size tail got a few more here kind of through this we also have a spear thunderstorm watch in this area as well so this goes anywhere from DC to Maryland south central Pennsylvania Northern Virginia um Far Eastern West Virginia and the severe thunderstorm watch goes until 11 p.m. Eastern so 10 p.m. central Time and we can go back down to the morning here this and this is kind of what I was talking about earlier with the strong wind for 70 m per hour wind gust and quarter size tail and then this one farther down to the South is just for 6 for our wing gu so a little bit more intense up here near Sterling Countryside poolsville we get third them all just one two three four severe thunderstorm warnings that could be seeing some pretty small hail sometimes you know even though we talk about small hail sometimes if this if it's wind driven it can still create a bunch of damage and if there's enough hail it can still create some really good damage here's that smth th warning that was in St Louis we can go back up to Minneapolis in just a minute anything change up here still watching that tornado warning get another check of our here start get a warning velocity signature not as impressive as it was few minutes ago much more impressive further back here where it looked like that tornado warning was warranted and it's not as impressive anymore we do have a new super thunderstorm warning that includes St Peter and that goes until 5:00 pm. and once again the National Weather Service is warning for 60 mph wind guest and if you zoom out and look at the structure of this storm you can see that it's that backwards sea shaped and we're probably seeing some pretty strong winds with this often times whenever we we say it's Bo out um often times whenever these storms start to bow out that's whenever we see really really strong wind and if the radar indication is correct we're probably seeing wind gust up to 50 at least miles per hour right now that would be my assumption there's those storms coming into Minneapolis now we're about to cross the highway let's go back to some of our traffic cameras and see if we can see anything interesting on traffic cameras I see Jeremy's on here hoping some big clear hail falls in the Minnesota Metro the Minneapolis Metro um Jeremy what does it mean for a clear hail maybe like a clear path let's look a trafficing and then I'll go back to some of our questions here this is interesting I didn't know this cloudy hail breaks on impact and doesn't do as much damage as clear solid hail Stones do you know why hail is cloudy I think this is really interesting oftentimes you can see and you may already know this Jeremy but for those who don't oftentimes in hail you can see little rings in hail kind of like you would see on a tree on a really old tree um I see someone's also someone's in a sever thunderstor morning will make sure that you're inside in a safe location we can talk tell me where that severe thunderstor warning is and we can look at it just a minute but anyway so talking about the hail here whenever we have clear solid hail that is because we have um the hail is compact with water whenever we have other rings that are really really cloudy kind of what you're talking about Jeremy it's because we've got little air bubbles in there and that's what makes it so cloudy most of the time so I didn't know that about cloudy hail with Ben air bu bubles in it breaks on impact but that does make sense it's probably not as Compact and I bet those hailstones that are much clearer are probably a little bit heavier falling at a faster rate as well thank you for just listening to my thought process there and thank you for bringing that up I had no idea it's very interesting all right these storms coming into Minneapolis right now I'll go back to what I was doing earlier before I got distracted that's kind of if you see me work it's just me getting distracted often times but we eventually find our way back and we learned something along the way too right so it's all worth it I'm looking at Minneapolis traffic cameras here I want a good view of these storms see a lot of traffic in me Minneapolis right now a little eerie looking all right let me switch over so you guys can see what I'm looking at as well well uh the infinitely okay let me know if you can't see that so we can see the storms in the distance there Minneapolis has some really good cameras oo that's not a bad one got rain on the roadways maybe some really good wind in this area too it looks like this traffic camera is shaking back in and fourth doing a little dance there rain yet in this area I'm trying to find a rain-free camera that we can see the storms off in the distance I want a really good view of sky is the sky and I want to see the storms maybe maybe not well I mean they are traffic cameras so we got a lot of traffic pictures sometimes traffic cameras can also show hail but it has to be a video just these still pictures are not helpful at all to see any hail however I'd be a little surprised if there was any good hail with this storm see if this one will load so what you would look for if you wanted to see Halen you probably can't see it from this far away but you would see it kind of like bouncing on the road and it's probably too difficult with such a poor camera but it's definitely raining pretty hard all righty let's go back to the radar here all righty these storms are coming into the western side many Apolis right now and I'll go back and I'll also check some of the comments make sure I didn't miss anything we have someone asking to look at the Virginia storms is there any th storm warning right now look zoom out moving over we still have that tornado warning north of Minneapolis here south of Grand Rapids back that in a minute we have a new super thundor warning in Garden City and moving over to Virginia where we have short war and we're actually just looking at this just a few minutes ago so this one to the north is a lot more impressive than these further back to the west and we've got several severe thunderstorm warnings that are kind of funky here uh fun fact the National Weather the National Weather Service once they issue a warning they can't like edit or extend the time so if they wanted to extend the time or extend the polygon they have to issue an entirely new warning which is why often times you see overlapping here what they'll probably do is eventually cancel this warning or they'll just let it expire but sometimes that's how you can accidentally get in two warnings that's how polygons can kind of become a little funky because it's just you know the system that they have let's move our more DET T radar up to Virginia and let's take a look at this oh that data low so let's take a look at this severe thunderstorm warning so this severe thunderstorm warning is moving to the north so this is the northern one north of hnen at 20 M an hour 60 m per hour wind gust and quarter sized hail um it's radar indicated the severe thure morning goes until 600 p.m. eastern time 5:00 p.m. central Time here's the impact damaging wind so I think wind will probably be the biggest impact here um 60 m per hour wind is what it's worn for damaging wind will cause some trees and large branches to fall this could injure those Outdoors so make sure that you're inside as well as damaged homes and vehicles roadways may become blocked due to downed trees localized power outages are possible and unsecured light objects may become projectiles I'm not quite sure I've ever seen that sentence before unsecured liked objects may become projectiles that's why we always say move everything inside make sure there's no like plants or um anything outside know children's toys in the driveway or in the yard or anything because these thunderstorm winds could pick that up and move them and you know you don't want to go have to find that later and your neighbor doesn't want to either and you don't want any damage to your house because that either way yep we've got some strong wind this storm coming out of poolsville um watching that there a few others as well you kind of sh morning just hugging the state line here for 60 m per hour wind gusts this one 60 M hour wind gusting quarter sized tail sometimes whenever you can get some smaller storms like this you could get a little haer out of it and the severe thunderstorm warning 60 M perh wind gust and quarter sized Tail as well oh we've got another one up in Pennsylvania this one has is moving in the opposite direction so oftentimes also with some of these storms that pop up because of the heat during the day they move in funky Direction so we've got this one that's moving to the north and this one has actually been upgraded Barnesville Germantown Clarksburg this one has been updated to damaging um sever thunderstorm warning the hail size has been upgraded in this area so this is just to the north of I'm trying to find like a really big town that most people will know we Washington DC so just to the north of that area um has been upgraded to golf ball siiz tail and 70 m per hour W gust so we have seen this thunderstorm strengthen it's moving to the north this one further down to the South still just worn for 60 M hour wind gust and quarter sized tail however I wouldn't be surprised if we see this strengthen as well let me see if my radar it looks like we have ground truth so an observation here of quarter siiz tail in hernen and I can show that to you [Music] oh I forget that you get you can't see some of the things that I can see on my screen right here where my mouse is there you go okay you can see that right here my mouse or where um there you go where my mouse is one in size hail in Sterling but it looks like we've got a strong wind gust here just north of Dawsonville and potentially some decent hail with this as well switch Yeah I would definitely say some pretty decent H with this so if I was looking for Hail this is the exact area I would go hang on one second e this is just outside of Rockville looks like some pretty strong winds and possibly some decent hail with this as well I'm interested to see what the National Weather Service says about the storm and if we get any ground truth to this right here oh we got a really decent Hailstone 1 and 3/4 just outside of Sterling so you can see the storm it's really close to The Radars it's really difficult to see how strong the storm is right now we need it to be a bit farther away from the radar either way you can see some pretty strong wind with this probably 40 miles an hour either way you do not want 40 m you don't want hailstones of any size coming at you 40 m an hour well I saw a question on here what was the question um I think the question is about lightning so I don't see Gainesville Virginia popping up on my map here and it looks like you may be out of the Storm at this point so from what I can see is Gainesville is in this area and all the storms are to the north of you so you should be good from for storms right now it looks like this storm is strength strengthening a little bit and this is one that I've really got my eye on however I don't want to leave our Minneapolis people hanging so I'm going to go ahead and switch back over to our Minneapolis storms see if we can see okay there we go all righty all right some decent wind with this we did get a some wind damage here um tree down and power line down blocking the lane of Highway five near the arum east of Victoria so we do have some damage here in between Victoria and Eden Prairie if that's part of your commute home you probably want to give yourself some extra time or maybe just wait a little bit later to head home um other than that what I see here is some pretty decent wind coming into Minneapolis right now maybe 40 to 50 mph probably a little bit stronger than that in some areas again the hail risk here is pretty low maybe some small hail anytime we see these little markers here we could indicate maybe some small hail but they're not always the most accurate maybe some small hail just north of Minneapolis here NOA or park and then we still have that tornado warning here we get on a different radar if we can see it a bit better I'll pull up another radar see if we can see here we've got some reports of golf ball siiz tail just a ton of it from Twitter here um let me see if I can pull this up for you give me just a minute but it's a really good video all righty P this up here all ready take a look this video this is on Twitter golf ball siiz hail in the Cascades portion of Sterling right now look at that that's pretty impressive again as I mentioned earlier that wind driven hail it doesn't matter turn that down for a minute it doesn't matter how big the hail is wind driven hail you do not want that around especially whenever it gets up to the size of a golf ball it's pretty impressive video there all righty switching back over to the radar oh and here's another one I'm switch back over with the tree down this person again this isn't our video this is on Twitter so you can find this on Twitter but this person says unfortunately the winds took down the tree in the front yard but their windshield survived the hail yeah there's some cars out there and again this is on Twitter if you want to see it pretty decent H sizes there okay back to the radar we'll stay on here until those storms go through Minneapolis if you have any other questions let us know we can zoom out here and really get a good idea of what's going on across the country I know we've been really focused on places like Virginia and Minnesota but we also have severe thunderstorm warnings all the way down into Southern Kansas including Garden City and um UDA this thunderstorm warning is for 60 m per hour wind speeds penny size tail so it's marginal it's marginally severe very very similar down near Garden City as well this is coming into Dodge City here pretty soon and then we can follow this line all the way up to the Nebraska and Iowa line um we have this SP thunderstorm warning with first 60 m per hour wind gusts and this one for 60 m per hour wind gu and Penny siiz Tail as well I just realized you cannot see what I'm talking about okay let me switch back as I mentioned earlier I'm producing my own show here so we have those S Thunder stor warnings in Garden City Southern and Western Kansas we have another one just on the state line anywhere from uh Nebraska all the way up to Iowa and then another storm just through just clipping the Northwestern edge of Iowa and then taking you up to soda where we've been watching all of these storms through Minneapolis Oh a new tornado warning let me take you to the cameras or the radar the radar here ah there you go tornado warning well we definitely have some strong wind so just north of East bethl this is north of Minneapolis there's Minneapolis so just outside of the severe thunderstorm warning we have some really strong wind in this area we're talking at least maybe 55 60 M hour here I would say we could definitely get 60 M hour at least out of this Oak Grove maybe St Francis Beth area we're seeing um some strong wind I would not be surprised at all it looks like we have at least a little bit of rotation if not some decent rotation here here and correlation coefficient maybe indicating the potential for not only rotation but o seeing those wind speeds increase but also potential tornado let's see if they have any ground truth to this the National Weather Service saying radar indicated rotation just what we said here flying debris will be dangerous um to those caught without shelter this tornado warning goes until 5:00 central time we're at 4:35 right now I see we have a few more questions on here let's see what our questions are CJ says I don't see this producing hail and where were you referring to oh talking about Minnesota yeah I think that this is going to be more of a wind event in Minnesota then hail but we did see I mean I think that we could see some small hail I don't think it'll be a hail event by any means we did see some wind damage here so there's some wind damage just north of St Michael a light pulled down um and that was relayed by County dispatch maybe some small hail here it's not going to be widespread that's for sure if we see hail it's not going to be too widespread here I think it'll be pretty isolated we do have some really strong there though and I wonder if you can see this part of the storm from cameras let me go back to our Minnesota cameras this may be too far out of the city yeah I think is or Min minopolis cameras here where exact is this we have cameras here they're not showing much they're just pictures they're not video cameras but it's not a bad location to watch okay let me show you what I can see here so here we are in East bethl and from our radar it looks like just north of East bethl should be a pretty good place to look at um cameras so these are cameras from the Department of Transportation in Minnesota and I have had trouble getting them to load can't see a ton from this one this one's probably a bit too far south definitely getting rain in this area we know that for sure but definitely too far south and I can show you so we're talking about maybe right in here is we have a question about what about the storm outside of DC yeah we were watching that one earlier as well and I can show you we can go back to that radar that was pretty golf ball size taale I think earlier yeah really impressive wind speeds with this earlier as well okay let me switch over zoom out make sure I'm in the right place here I assume this is the storm that you're talking about if we go back and take a look at those wind speeds this is what we call pulsating storm we were talking about this the other night so if you were with us the other night you definitely heard me talk about pulsating storms it's whenever that storm itself you know it doesn't like ramp up to really strong wind speeds but every now and then you have a really strong wind speed and then it weakens and then once again it strengthens and then it weakens it kind of does this for a bit and that's exactly what we're seeing here we're seeing those strong wind speeds and then we're seeing it weekend but yeah I assume that's what you're mentioning that storm outside of DC uh we're probably getting some decent hail with this as well the severe theor warning is still worn for golf ball siiz hail and I think that is where that one video that we just saw is is from so I don't know if you were on here I think this is Rob I don't know if you were on here earlier whenever we showed that Twitter video that was so impressive let see if I can pull that up again this is outside of Sterling so I'm pretty sure this is the same storm really impressive hailstones there and he said earlier that this is golf ball sit to so the natural we syrup is warning or lar tail when is pretty on point ah you just missed the video well I'm glad that you were on here to see it now yeah really impressive video so anyway anyway this is not our video this is on Twitter we can head back over to the radar and take a look at that for just a minute we did get 1.75 in reported in uh probably in this exact same area where that video was taken so this is in Sterling right outside of Countryside 1 and A2 in size tail ping pong ball siiz tail we've got golf ball size tail reported as well I mean just a ton of hail on this side of the city and then as I mentioned now the storm looks like it's weekend a bit let me know if we have any other questions in here I'm going to go back up to Minneapolis in just a minute that and if you guys see anything else on Twitter let me know and we can keep showing videos either way let's go back to those Minneapolis storms there we go got some strong winds here as we mentioned earlier we were talking about that tornado warning you can see a little bit of that rotation here um what we look for is we look for those different colors we've got that blue on one side of the spectrum sometimes it's green and then red on the other and so that means that we have rotation within the storm this is still pretty far away from the radar so we could be looking pretty far up into the storm but with these strong winds I wouldn't be surprised if we do have a tornado out of this um is it confirmed we can see the natural other service that's mentioned if it's confirmed or not either way what um we're seeing from this is some really strong wind and you can see that here whenever we start to see this Boe um indic view this Bo this Boeing visual here um that definitely means that there's some strong wind we have some strong wind that's coming through Minneapolis right now so on the Northern side of the city theyve got some wind that is probably 60 at least mil an hour that's enough to take down a tree um depending on the size and the type of tree that it is and we've already seen from this storm that we have had some damage from this some wind damage multiple large trees uprooted near Highway tin and Cutters Grove and then farther back to the West here light pulled down within Albertville and then further down to the South we have another report of wind damage tree down and power lines down blocking one lane of the highway of Highway 5 near the arbor exit I'm seeing other wind damage here we've got wind damage to a small tree in Downtown Minneapolis First Avenue and First Street however I'm not seeing any reports of hail in this area I am seeing some hail in Sterling Virginia yeah that one that's right outside of Washington DC this guy on Twitter is saying the hail storm in Sterling cracked a skylight at his parents house house in Cascades so yeah it looks like that Sterling H H outside of DCU was very impressive any other questions on here we'll be with you until the storm gets through Minneapolis we can kind of do around the radar and zoom out and look at other severe thunderstorm warnings or even tornado warnings across the US in just a minute sure I'm not missing any major questions here really impressive okay let me show you this other video from Sterling Virginia a lot of hail get bouncing around over here the bottom of your screen this is at Route 7 in Cascades Parkway some ducks over here all right going back to the rad so we're back in Minneapolis now still watching this severe thunderstorm warn storm or excuse me tornado warn storm still watching some strong wind in the northern side of Minneapolis and then we also could have some small hail further down to the South near Lakeville and let me see if we have any questions on Twitter I see a lot of people are on Twitter right now I don't see any questions so just making sure that I'm not missing anything here and then looking at YouTube questions up there either so let's do a little round the radar let's see what's going on across the country so here's where we are right now we've been talking about Minneapolis and that tornado warn storm further to the now further to the north tons of lightning with this is going straight through the city right now but if you head further down to the South you can clearly see a line of storms that stretches right through southern Central Minnesota and then curves back to the South and West and it looks like we're seeing a lot more impressive activity in places like Omaha North of Omaha rather um in Magnolia Logan Charter Oak we have a severe thunderstorm warning for all of these places this is for 60 m per hour wind speeds and quarter siiz tail this one on the southern side very similar quarter siiz tail 60 m per hour wind speeds and 60 m per hour wind gust and Penny siiz tail for this massive severe thunderstorm warning that goes anywhere from Dennison all the way up to um city and we can head further down to the South still following this line that stretches down to the Southwest here into Garden City and this s thunder warning is issued for 60 m per hour wind gust and Penny siiz tail however we did get a 74 mph wind gust um measurement in Garden City here from their mzet from the Kansas meet so that kind of shows you how these storms can a not only pulse up and down but also how we can see rapid development or intensification of these storms very very quickly that's what happened outside of Crescent where we saw all of those really really strong um or large hailstones where at first I mean it looked stronger than the other storms but it didn't look that impressive and all of a sudden you can see a storm intensify very very quickly so we did get a ton of hail reports anywhere from poolsville all the way down to Countryside every time I say these city names it just sounds like a paradise out here poolsville Countryside obviously not a paradise today with all of those storms um Barnesville still getting severe thunderstorms Let's see we have a tornado warning up in Pennsylvania this is interesting this tornado warning it's radar indicated this is for Camel comml I'm going to say I'm that correctly l or one of those ways was said correctly it's moving to the southeast at 15 M an hour um then after we service is saying take cover now move to the basement or an interior room of the lowest floor of a sturdy building of void windows we have other SE thunderstorm warnings that go I mean how many states is this that we have at least one severe War storm this 60 m per hour wind guest and quarter sized hail not terribly impressive there once again 60 m per hour wind Gest not even worried about hail near the is between CH States Virginia North Carolina and Tennessee state line just sitting right on top of where those state lines meet and then we can go down to South Carolina where we also have a super waren storm for nickel siiz tail and 60 MPH wi guests and we not only have this is not even a sever warn storm we also have damage out in Mississippi a tree split a post from social media right here reporting of a tree split east of Vicksburg so very very Ive day across the us we have a tornado warning extended here has a damaging tornado I wish that I could get this up on cameras here let's see if I could figure this out love a view this tornado here we are in Minneapolis north of Minneapolis this is about to cross the highway and the only camera that I see here and I can show you my screen so you can see what I'm looking at is this camera it's pretty close to what we're looking at um if I get the on here there we go so we'd want to be looking in this direction I can't get the video to play here and I'm wondering why not quite sure i' love to get a view of this not a great camera be there just loading and loading and loading [Music] well I'll let this load and we will see maybe it'll pop up later we'll return to the radar until bin this radar I just happened to choose one this is still that storm just outside of DC near Barnesville and it looks like it's starting to pulse back up now they have just issued a new severe thunderstorm warning for golf ball siiz tail and 70 m per hour wind guest and yeah I believe that with the strong wind right here you can kind of see that some of those brighter colors on velocity stronger wind guests in this area so the most impressive storms that I see right now just outside of DC the others north of Minneapolis really strong with this and was this earlier the one that I was looking for a different radar yeah but I still think this is probably the best radar that we could use right now we can look at this radar however this one however I think that we got a better view from radar go see what the national wild service said damaging tornado law enforcement did confirm a tornado so that means funnel on the ground flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter mobile homes will be damaged this makes me very nervous because often times I mean this time of the day is whenever people are headed home so I really hope that people are not on the road and this is a highway that this is going through right now so I'm really hoping that people are not headed home right now and especially because law enforcement has seen seen this coming so hopefully that means that they have blocked off these roads or have warned people before have had a that time since we've seen that tornado warning for quite some time now I guess this tornado warning has been confirmed for quite some time so hopefully people warned people were warned of this tornado and we don't have anyone that's that's finding out on the roadway and I'm double- checking my camera over here it is not loading this camera was in the perfect spot try different browser and see if that works there's a good chance at this point this camera is not loading because of the storm itself so one of the biggest hazards about storms like this is that often times here in the plains here in Oklahoma we can get a very welldefined um supercell right it's a discret supercell you can see the tornado you can see the rainf free base you can see the tornado however with something like this where it's a long line of storms you can look up here a long line of storms the these tornadoes are extremely difficult to see coming so you may think that you're just driving through rain maybe some strong wind and then all of a sudden you're in a tornado or you know it's really really difficult to see it's hard to chase these tornadoes um especially with have good roads that run east to west it's very very difficult to chase tornadoes like this it's also very very difficult to see these tornadoes often times depending on what this actually looks like um we call this a rain wrapped tornado because it's exactly that is wrapped around with rain you cannot see that tornado it is not your classic supercell um tornado that we see in in movies and in pictures okay I haven't checked my comment section in a while so let me see if I have any other comments and if I don't I may hop off and let you CU these storms are just about throughout Minneapolis right now I may hop off and let you enjoy the rest of your evening as long as you're not in any of these spir thunderstorms and I me to do some social media work so have I missed any comments before I hop off of here checking YouTube all looks good over here real quick before we go oh and there's the tornado report yeah law enforcement has confirmed a tornado touch down and has since lifted near the intersection of Durant Street in County Road 5 miles east of Santi I hope I'm saying that correctly that's a city that's just north of Minneapolis but before I go here and leave you to the rest of your evening we can take a look at what the rest of the evening will bring so that you are not caught off guard if you have storms later on this evening so let's go to weather let's take a look at those storms as we head into I I like the little weather because I really like this laps rate um product here I think it really shows you know where the best opportunities for a large hail will be but I actually want to just for the time being here I think that this gives a better view of things sometimes all righty so here we are here's Minnesota here's Minneapolis we've already seen storms come through here we're going to continue to see them track to the east over the next few hours so over The Late Night hours tonight and into the overnight hours Iowa is going to be a really big story here we're going to continue to watch these storms go across Iowa once again we have that tornado risk at least for the next few hours however I think as the Sun starts to set I think that tornado risk is going to go down um and then we'll have a hail and mainly wind risk I think wind is going to be one of the biggest factors that we see here either way by tomorrow morning storms out of this area however I do want to zoom out here so Iowa is something that we're going to watch through the overnight hours tonight Kansas as well you know you've already seen I've showed you that those storms are in Kansas Western Kansas right now that is going to continue to track to the east across Kansas as we head into the late night hours tonight and into early tomorrow morning but speaking of tomorrow so before we get to tomorrow the people who need to still stay weaw tonight people in Wisconsin Iowa Southeastern Nebraska and Kansas tomorrow we do have I know why doesn't automatically come up for me come on a chance for storms tomorrow so basically what happens is this risk this line of storms it's caused by a front will continue to track off to the East and we are going to see strong to severe storms once again tomorrow out to the Midwest so just east of where we have all the storms tonight so this goes anywhere from Missouri all the way up to Pennsylvania we've got Michigan once again in this this is almost a repeat of what we saw Monday and Tuesday we saw storms in Minneapolis on Monday and then in Cleveland and Detroit and in Chicago on Tuesday so this is almost a repeat of what we saw earlier on in the week but for your Friday I want you to keep an eye on the storms once again into the afternoon and evening hours and then we also have showers and storms expected anywhere from Charlotte down to Let's see we got North Carolina and Virginia in here as well and then just while we're at it let's take a look at your Saturday we have showers and storms continuing on Saturday some of those severe up to the Northeast and New England states so keep an eye on that this front is going to continue to cause problems as we head throughout your Saturday for our new englanders however here is the good news and this is what I will sign off with um oh there we go hang on we've got a little Echo here let's figure this out what are we looking at here there you go okay and here's what I'll sign off with is that we thankfully have a cool down on the way um for places like Oklahoma Kansas Nebraska um portions of the Midwest towards the later portion of the weekend portions of Colorado we have a big cool down I bet Texas even cools down just a little bit as we head into your Labor Day weekend which is great news because a lot of people will be outside we could see some showers and storms off and on especially here in Oklahoma this weekend however at least temperatures are a little bit cooler will be in the 80s for lb Day weekend which that'll be really nice all right thanks for joining us on this Thursday evening thanks for watching these storms with us we watched these storms go through Minneapolis we're still watching this tornado worn storm have already confirmed tornado um from the
