Within the hour the state of Florida will resume executions for the first time since 2019. Daniel Delbeck will be put to death by lethal injection. At 6:00 o'clock. He was convicted of murder twice on your size. Destiny McKeever is live outside Florida State prison in Raiford tonight. Destiny. These are protesters. And there are some protesters we hear hoping for a last minute stay. That is correct, Jessica. Yes, those protesters are behind us, off in the distance. We're being kept back a far ways. But we're here in Raiford at the Florida corrections facility where this is supposed to take place in a little less than an hour. Dilbeck, you may remember, if you look at that picture, you can see him there since 2019, as you mentioned, he is the last or the longest gap between executions in the state. His lethal injection is scheduled for 6:00 PM. And protesters. Say there was a split verdict, which is not legal, which now requires a unanimous decision for a death verdict. Dilbag has been in prison since he was convicted of murder, and the only time he was out is when he escaped prison committing a second murder, which is why his case was considered for death row. Now demonstrators have called on top officials like Governor DeSantis to step in, but the governor signed his death warrant back in January. Now if you take a look back out here live, you can see. Where those protesters are staged right across from us and they have been over there for at least the last 30 minutes or so. Now we are hoping to get more information on this whole thing from officials on what he is asking for, such as his last meal. His last words will bring you all of that coming up on the news tonight at 6:00 o'clock for now we're live from Rayford. I'm destiny McKeever. First Coast news on your side.
