and former president Trump returned to Wisconsin
tonight to hold a town hall in a key swing state Mr Trump was in Lacrosse and during the event
he detailed a new policy initiative on invitro fertilization our CBS 58 Capital correspondent
Emily Fannon has the highlights tonight from lacrosse during his first visit to Western
Wisconsin this election cycle the former president touched on his new push to protect IVF
while also taking four questions from the audience during his town hall that lasted about 30 minutes
at the lacrosse Center the former president sat down with Tulsi gabard a former democratic
congresswoman and presidential candidate for a town hall Thursday night gabbard who endorsed
Mr Trump first asked about invitro fertilization an expensive service Trump wants the government
or insurance companies to foot the bill and you know what we want to produce babies in this
country right we want to produce babies so I think it's going to be something the town hall was
a step back from the former president traditional rallies giving voters a few opportunities to
ask him questions on the economy and crime we're going to protect you know they destroy you
with inflation and then they want to destroy your Social Security to it's not going to happen but
this is going to be the most important election in the history of our country lacrosse which is
part of Wisconsin's third congressional district is a highly competitive region for both parties
this election for years Lacrosse County was a GOP stronghold then in 2020 it flip blue with a
majority of the vote going to Joe Biden as this county is up for grabs and I think that we can
grab it I think that we've got a good ground game going um we're working really hard and I think
the people are kind of excited they want to change don't stay home that's my answer a Battleground
day you don't stay home the town hall comes as both the Trump and Harris campaign will be
barnstorming the state over the next several weeks as they compete for the attention from Wisconsin
voters in Lacrosse Emily Fannon for cbs58 news
