and former president Trump returned to Wisconsin  tonight to hold a town hall in a key swing state   Mr Trump was in Lacrosse and during the event  he detailed a new policy initiative on invitro   fertilization our CBS 58 Capital correspondent  Emily Fannon has the highlights tonight from   lacrosse during his first visit to Western  Wisconsin this election cycle the former   president touched on his new push to protect IVF  while also taking four questions from the audience   during his town hall that lasted about 30 minutes  at the lacrosse Center the former president sat   down with Tulsi gabard a former democratic  congresswoman and presidential candidate for   a town hall Thursday night gabbard who endorsed  Mr Trump first asked about invitro fertilization   an expensive service Trump wants the government  or insurance companies to foot the bill and you   know what we want to produce babies in this  country right we want to produce babies so I   think it's going to be something the town hall was  a step back from the former president traditional   rallies giving voters a few opportunities to  ask him questions on the economy and crime   we're going to protect you know they destroy you  with inflation and then they want to destroy your   Social Security to it's not going to happen but  this is going to be the most important election   in the history of our country lacrosse which is  part of Wisconsin's third congressional district   is a highly competitive region for both parties  this election for years Lacrosse County was a   GOP stronghold then in 2020 it flip blue with a  majority of the vote going to Joe Biden as this   county is up for grabs and I think that we can  grab it I think that we've got a good ground game   going um we're working really hard and I think  the people are kind of excited they want to change   don't stay home that's my answer a Battleground  day you don't stay home the town hall comes   as both the Trump and Harris campaign will be  barnstorming the state over the next several weeks   as they compete for the attention from Wisconsin  voters in Lacrosse Emily Fannon for cbs58 news
