[Music] and welcome back we are back back at our actually our own homes I don't even know what this feels like I don't feel like I've been in my home since the beginning of June it's weird for me to place my head on my bed but we are actually back with the oldfashioned show back from SEC media days it's Ona Richardson Alex Dunlap and we got a ton of things ton of topics to get into to and and I I want to before we even get too far down the list Alex I want to get your thoughts on SEC media day since it was your first uh time out there um doing that thing uh but good morning to you man how's it feel to be back home good morning good morning feels back yeah back back home feels feel feels good back in the old office it doesn't feel like it's quite uh quite quite part of the home a little bit segregated here from the rest of the fam but no sunare no sun glare in your in your eyes this morning right yeah dude yeah dude that's that's true for sure but yeah man it felt good to um you know see the family and everything we dude we were gone for a kind of long time it wasn't quite as long as the combine but it's um one of the longer trips that I'll take every year to but look I we'll we'll we'll get into the SEC media days my my thoughts about it we'll also talk about um some of the notes we had in the war room last night onir was able to get some uh updates from coach Sark and from some of these players that were different from like he gets the special updates right it's like we all go to the National media session onir gets invited to the the cool kid session where only like five of these guys get allowed to go so he has some notes from that in the war that we'll discuss Ryan Wingo being among them this issue that ke kept on coming up that I want to just kind of deconstruct a little bit with onir and just as to what it means because it came up a couple of times and that is the subject of depth and the sort of the not the willingness but the the expectation that this sort of depth gets played early in the season they keep talking about that it came up in the off record thing it came up in the um in sark's National media availability uh it came up with some of the stuff that we talked about with players so I want to talk about that we also have um something from Daniel Jeremiah on his podcast that Cody alerted me to yesterday and so that goes along with what Eric Galo said here on the channel about Quinn ERS the fact that it looks like had he have come out last year he probably would have been a top 15 to 20 pick that's what everybody's kind of saying postmortem now and what does that mean anything about what we expect moving forward out of that guy and then finally what what I wanted to start with is and I see people in the chat are talking about it SEC Mike onar had some fire uh onar had some fire on the SEC pod onar you've greatly upset the A&M fans with your talk on the SEC podcast so look maybe we could talk about the elephant in the room here you do you have anything to say for yourself and your in your comments on SEC Mike's podcast and what were those comments well first I stand by what I said I stand by I'll Stand By You know what I actually have it up here on the screen since I see everyone keeps asking about it let's see let me see I'll just go ahead and share it I I'll go ahead and share for those who uh missed it let me see if I can find it everyone could start their day off right with some Aggie good old Aggie hate uh here you go let's go let's go all right let's go has always kind of viewed A&M as as a little brother you know which I mean hell they just stole their baseball coach away right so I mean like you know they that's just like hey that that's good congratulations on the success hey he's just going to come with us now it's like you you like Texas a l and literally was the person that was buying the hot girl drinks all night long and then in Texas just stole in at like 1:30 and said she's coming home with me so there will be the I think there's going to be a pressure on the A&M since it's going to be there they didn't they didn't like that they like they didn't like that that but it's about as Fair of an analogy as one could get isn't it I mean and look I'm most of us who you've been out there in the clubs and stuff like that you you've had that experience right you're talking to someone well not 130 more okay I've never had that but I've seen it happen I've done it but hey they Texas A&M I mean it is what it is it's just no lies detected isn't like the analogy if yeah thank thank goodness that that's I mean what a what a degrading experience that would be to have it happen to you and the and the fact of the matter is um I'm not gosh try to describe me in that way really it does feel like it hurts your soul but dude A&M fans probably feel like feel like it got your uh it they got their soul H their soul stolen a little bit with this it didn't like they wanted to lose their coach I'm more have have you ever been to College Station no this this will be my uh uh this will be my first time I'm sure I'm sure going to get a warm reception when agu fans see me how do you picture it do you picture is being much different than like any of these other little bad little crappy towns that you've traveled to that I I picture it like loic in my head like that's what the equiv he got it about right I think he got that's what I think of it's there wouldn't be any there wouldn't be much of anything there if there wasn't a college is the kind of vibe I mean there's definitely industry and stuff like that but it's it's a it's definitely has very much of a of a small town feel and all all my all my life um you know and growing up in Texas you have agies and your family and you have you have you know you have Longhorns in your family and you know random ones that go to schools like TCU or SFA or stuff like that but it's like the biggest concentration of people that you know it's like they either even if they go to you know very well on more if you go to Southwest or I guess now Texas state it used to be Southwest Texas um like you're either a fan of like if you watch football you're not a Southwest Tech or a Texas State football fan I don't think I think you're a UT fan you're an AM fan you kind of grew up yeah one one or the other and it's just it's interesting to me that it feels like the split of fans it's it's pretty it's pretty um pretty even across the board right there's a lot of Aggie fans there's a lot of Texas fans and stuff but just the differences in the resources of the two schools and the cities that they're in and how much harder it must be to recruit to A&M right it's like you know Texas has a lot of natural built-in advantages and I think there's just something about that that really kind of sits you know that's really like I don't know the best way to say it it really kind of sinks the hearts of A&M fans sometimes to have it sort of laid out like that man for you to it's it almost kind of goes without saying I guess is what I'm trying to say and I think they feel like you're just kind of uh they probably feel like man it's just like kicking us while we're always down to have on war just come out and just out top rope off the top rope hey I mean the question is were any lies detected that's the thing like I hear explanation of it question is did I say anything that was incorrect no no I'm tell you they literally had their coach taken away from them from Texas after he was playing it his team was playing in the college World Series like they Texas he they literally Texas fired their coach the day of the College World Series to let everybody know we're about to take that dude they didn't think there was any way it was gonna happen and they literally to stole the guy who had that program in the World Series you you I I mean you can get in your feelings if you want to but shoot they they stole your girl Texas Mr Steal Your Girl that's what it is like it's true it's it's it's true and Al before we go too far down a rabbit hole I'm kind of curious for something um this is your first SEC media days and you've attended a lot of events obviously throughout the years of covering Sports I'm just kind of from a general perspective what was your take what was your thoughts of just the event itself how it was run uh I just kind of you know I this is my third one I'm curious for you what did you think of it that's I mean that's my conference man man that's our conference yeah you like it yeah dude I'm gonna be one of these dude as as a as a as a reporter whatever analyst covering this team or or or whatever I now care about the SEC and I'm gonna be one of these reporters and one like whenever I ask questions to these coaches and stuff like that I'm I'm gonna talk about what it what it means to to our conference it's it's it's now it's now ours right you feel the ownership right it it's it's our conference it is so so high class dude it is I don't have to tell you on war just anybody who's um it's just the classiest people the most friendly people the most um the most prideful people right they they take great pride in things like timeliness and they take great um pride in things like um everything just running smoothly and they they take pride and efficiency and they take a lot of uh they take a lot of um ownership and accountability over the care like they really really really care for the conference and it's it's just so abundantly clear it's just so much different than something like the big 12 I told I said yesterday it truly makes the Big 12 look like a Mickey Mouse operation it really really does the and it's not just because look and it's not just because the food is awesome and every night you get free drinks and they give but these are little details that are I mean it do help yeah but I mean it's like it's the fact that every everybody is just so organized and so careful and so caring and so thoughtful it really it's just it's a it's a different thing and and it's and and it's about the 16 teams right um whereas in the Big 12 what what what sort of Coalition is the is the Big 12 really it feels like a very sort of fractured Coalition that where you get this piece from here this piece from here it's like you got Utah and you got West Virginia and then you got but you got UCF and it's just like what Baylor and stuff and Kansas State like what what's the what's the combining feature What is the characteristic and the answer is there there is none and I understand that with you know there's some kind of complaint about Austin and Norman not necessarily being in the traditional um geographic region that you would consider the southeast but it it feels like it's Southeast enough and if Texas A&M is in there it it's like Texas is open game for this stuff I understand that once you get West to 35 you you can probably if you look at a map you can say that's actually right on the tip of that's probably more on the tip of South West if we're g to talk about one or the other but I mean like it as far as Texas as um what it should aspire to be football-wise what it's what it's becoming again football-wise and also what the university represents right like it's a prideful University man man but I mean people know of Texas uh what do they think the first thing that that everybody thinks of Texas they think all right well they have they have a lot of money and their fans are really arrogant but they care a but they care a lot about their team and even if they don't show up on time by the time the game is in doubt late in the game they're going to be really loud and they're gonna be passionate and like um it's the the the SEC is a perfect fit for Texas and I could my biggest takeaway from this whole event coming out of it was dude I came home and I bought uh SEC logo wear like dude that's dude dude that's my conference I care about those six I I I care about watching those those 16 teams and it it'll be interesting to see how much more college football I even really watch this year or have the capacity to watch man I I care about the SEC you know as a I can tell you this to Alex as a Floridian I consider Texas part of South like I I to me Texas is more SEC than they are Big 12 and and and from a geographical standpoint when I think of Texas so you may think tra like deep south right we so there's a deep south that you may think of of the georgas the Mississippi and Louisiana I think Louisiana like that may be a deep south but I consider Texas to be a part of the South I consider I don't I don't see it like as weird for instance like USC being in the Big 10 that that's is weird to be right that that's a that's a stretch you know when USC is going to play like a Ruckers or something like that like what what are we doing right but yeah this this to me makes you know a lot of sense and the other thing Alex that's different between this and the and the Big 12 is that if you noticed and paid attention and I know Cody was there as well you you the logos that you saw everywhere were SEC logos you didn't see team helmets around you didn't see no damn mask out there with their with their guns and playing around the frogs and all these kind of things you didn't see the cheerleaders from the school it wasn't about the individual it was about the conference and conf it was you saw those helmets on stage huge that SEC logo before you went into the ballroom doubled tripled our size like all the walls was SEC posters and if you did see the team it was in an SEC Banner with the SEC was bigger than any other team logo so they do a very good job of making sure everybody understands like the brand of the SEC is more important than you as the individual and and and and I think they nail it and they do a good job of you know you don't you don't see like guys bickering at each other and coaches coming at each other or anything like that everybody came in their on brand on script you know it was pay homage to to lay kein M then it was to pay homage to Nick Sabin and then it was and Greg sanki thank you for having such a tremendous conference and we're so proud to be in here and then I'll tell you about the team it's it's exactly right every every team in in our conference whenever whenever they were up there they they they they uh they you you were right it was the opening remarks it was the it was the it only if you had connections to kein and Orlan kein or whatever and only if you had ever worked with Sabin or had some sort of um some sort of tangential connection right because it felt like there were a couple that came up there and had slightly different uh um what's that called like um connection whatever like introductions right but it's like what these dudes that like worked with Sabin and did all of it it felt like out of the 16 coaches it felt like probably 12 of them did that you know what I'm saying and then um but it was always it was like the talking points right anytime anything came up about Florida state anytime something come up about Clemson anytime that it was just they just fell back to their talking points that was given to them by sanki and they said we're we're we're here to talk about our 16 teams and we're going into the future we're gonna have we're going to and these coach these coaches haven't thought about this they were given talking points so it goes to show the the level of organization and and thought that goes into goes into this and they they because they all said the same thing when they got asked about what do you what would you think about obviously the Florida reporters are gonna ask the Florida Coach about thinking about what happens if Florida State comes that they're gonna have to ask because their audience you're from Florida but that's probably an thing for a Florida person to hear right you have to ask and so just for the coach to be able to say something this the same thing the same thing sanki says if look in it's like a very it's a nuanced thing but it's it but they all got the talking point and what the answer is is like look we we're g to keep our options open as a conference going into the future and clearly we're we're going to do what's best for the conference we're always going to look to improve the conference but moving forward we're we're worried about R1 16 and and going forward into the future we just added Texas we just added Oklahoma you know we've just made some big moves we're happy with our 16 and if we go to the future with these 16 and nothing ever changes from these 16 we're still G to be just fine because we like we like we we have our conference here so and and that was the same it was the same thing that question probably got asked what four times over the weekend everybody has the exact same answer to me like that goes to show the level of foresight the level of care the level of thought that goes in from the very top echelons the top rungs of this conference and filter it filters down through the messaging of the of the various coaches Alex and the last thing we can say on it is I found it interesting that sarkeesian was tickled pink that he got a police escort to Media days and I'm thinking to myself well I was like so that didn't happen in Big 12 media were they're sitting in traffic literally trying to get into Arlington like and just and is being stuck on on the interstate and I and I feel like that probably is true like they probably because he made a point to say like it just means more like he he couldn't believe it so you're right just the the little details of something at that minute even Sark was kind of like wow this is kind of impressive like I I I've never had this kind of treatment before I'm so glad I went this year just in in closing and it was in Dallas it was easy to get to here's the thing I'm I'm not missing another one I don't care where it is like I'll go to wherever like I'm not missing you're in you're in Atlanta next year regardless oh dude dude I'm GNA start going to the like if I can get in I'm going to start going to those like League meetings like I'm GNA go to every event that that they possibly put on it's like I just I man I'm a big just considering the College Football Hall of Fame uh in Atlanta uh next year by the that's where it was a few years ago when I went it'll be back at a College Football Hall of Fame nice venue hey just and and real quickly because one thing that I didn't say at the beginning is actually the title of the show is the Ryan Wingo updates and stuff so we're gonna I forgot like we we have so much to get to let's let's let's get into that but just before we do one final thing I'm just curious about this what how much like was is Big 12 media days um how is it because you said it's more team focused and stuff like that but how was it from like SC like SEC is obviously a ton better right like it it has to be a ton better yeah I would say so I think um there's there are some good things about SEC uh Big 12 media days for instance like um after the coach speaks you get them off the podium for a little while and then they actually then uh later in the afternoon they stand on they stay on a Podium for a good like 40 minutes or so so you might get the coach a little bit more but it kind of becomes like splitting hairs at that point because you if you get invited to the secret meeting like I did and get the coach you know backstage well then you know I don't need the podium at that point you know I better it's almost T kind of better for you because you have the more exclusive content yeah I think so so I think stin for guys like me that don't get invited to the cool kids party yeah no you you guys are you didn't you didn't get there there was literally I I can tell you I can tell it now there was literally like a secret um like a card that they gave you that give you like the you got that sounds like a comedy hold on I I watch I'm gonna show you hold on hold on hold on hold on I uh I I I know this sounds too good to be true watch this I I can get it for you in one second uh hold on that's I hopefully this shows up on my phone no he's a little card you're right and an interview credential look at interview look at the SEC man God and and Al Alice look they gave you the secret map on the back on how to get there I put yeah man I put that thing well I guess I guess nobody can use that information now you can't use it now you can't use it now so it doesn't it doesn't it's it's like if you if you worked in the government and then you've retired and they've all they've changed all the codes everything's been CL or Declassified right yeah that's all that is yeah we got we gotta talk about Ryan Ryan Wingo but you know the biggest secret that I have to tell you about is is is is Texas beef Traders you been to Texas beef Traders yet man you have to scan the QR code you have to go check out the beef at Texas beef Traders right from Mason Texas you C look if you go to the grocery store and you're buying your beef there I hate to tell you I know it's the only option that some people have but just a little bit of bad news for you you're paying too much money you're getting your beef not locally and just probably doesn't come from a from America I think what do they say 65% of the beef in grocery stores today is isn't even American so who knows what kind of weird vaccines or shop or any cockamamy uh you know boosters or you know hormones growth hormones testosterone antibiotics you know that the meats filled up with antibiotics it it it gives your body antibiotics to where you have a weirder response to them whenever you actually need them whenever you get sick you don't want that to happen you don't want that for your family what do you want the best possible meal you want ground beef that cost $4 a pound that tastes like you're eating a burger from a steakhouse you want a big Tomahawk you want New York strips that are probably 20% cheaper than the grocery store and when you use the the orange Bloods promo code you you you tell them that you're you're calling in from Orange Bloods you're coming in from Orange Bloods you get 10% off go into Texas beef Traders go talk to Darren go talk to Shay go talk to Dan if you go on on the weekends they're gonna ask you if you're hungry and if you're hungry they're just gonna feed you and and look if if you can't make it into Lakeway just call them take advantage of your discount get the best beef you've had in your life and if you can't make it in they'll just bring it to you they'll just bring it to you free free free free delivery is what I mean Texas beef Traders all right now and now that I had to put myself back in real quick over here uh it's we were just in the DFW area I can think of plenty of places to buy a house fact I have spent most of my summer I feel like in the DFW area this is probably my fourth time that I've been out there El president you guys know him Eric Torres the man with the master plans Eric sales homes DFW you're looking for a home in the DFW area you don't have to look any further than El Presidente himself the market is tough and you need somebody to help you to navigate this Market don't get eaten alive want to be able to sell your home he knows how to do it you want to buy a house he'll help you on that end if you know someone in the DFW area who's looking for a home or will be looking for a home just pass the along information along hey man I was watching my favorite show in the morning hey dude I just want to pass this along to you Eric sales Holmes DFW buying and selling Made Easy Eric sells Holmes DFW L Presidente himself Dallas is a big city big city gosh you know it's like you you you need a realtor there because it's like you know the roads maybe it's just that I've been living out here like way out you know way out in Spicewood for too long it's but dude there are too many different on and off R like I can't even get out of town without you know it's like the lady on the phone has that tells me to do stuff like I think that all the construction is too new that she doesn't even know right we were na we were navigating I I felt like catch was about turning Us Down Alley dude coming home from the barbecue place yeah like dude it took us like four minutes to get here what's going on with all this like looping around town and driving over where the Mavs play uh it's just like what yeah yeah all right so the news the the the headline news for the show Ryan Ryan Wingo yeah you know what Alex this this is I mean this coincides with things that you know that we've reported on orange Bloods you know kind of you know throughout the the offseason if you're not on orange Bloods these are the things that you probably would have known months ago but it's okay we we'll have some promos and discounts for you guys to get on board pretty soon so don't worry about that but during one of the secret meetings that I had I was able to had the opportunity to talk to Quinn eers and I just kind of you know Alex in situations like this where you hear a lot of things off the Record eventually you just want to have it verified on the record uh by somebody so you get you know so you're good to go and so I asked him about Ryan Wingo um and to know what and probably not to you surprise this is what queen says he goes the maturity that he has at such a young age and his ability to understand what we want to do on the offensive side of the ball and his ability to go up and make plays I haven't really seen anything like it and this is a guy who's been playing since you know p pop warner kind of days right so he goes for him to come in the way that he has I'm excited about what he's going to do for this University and it becomes really interesting talking point Alex because not only is Wingo we're talking about but then we had sarkeesian also say that this is one of his deepest receiving rooms that he's had since he's been at Texas which is crazy so I'm just kind of curious to you you've heard a lot of good things about Wingo we could talk about Balden if you want to but you're in general thoughts and Impressions when you hear the quarterback saying like man this guy's doing stuff that I've never seen before I'm not so sure that I'm not so sure that he doesn't become like wide receiver one M I'm not so sure he just doesn't come in and he's just he's like wide receiver one like the alpha Target I know it's it's I don't think it's likely but I I would like at this point you can't be surprised you're not allowed to be surprised like it's just you're not like what do you what do you need to see what do you need to hear it's like on war says we understand that and it's become more and more apparent I think as we've sort of tested things and as this Channel's grown and as we've begun to understand who are audiences here there there's not a um it isn't like everybody watching this YouTube channel is is an orange blood's member I guess is is a good way of saying it as as as as we welcome in uh now over 400 people watching wa watching live here on the channel out of that what 450 people watching right now as it keeps ticking up I'd say probably I don't know you know 60 of them might be members on orange blood something like that so you might not be just reading the drum beat that's come not and here's the thing it just doesn't come from me it just doesn't come from onward it just doesn't come from catch it doesn't even come Al it comes from also like Jason who talks to recruits who talk about Wingo it's like it's like there's been a lot of hype about Ryan wingo and it's gotten more and more and when we get to see in the spring game with our own two eyes we hear more and more about it through practice and then whenever we hear Steve sarkeesian who weird dude weirdly invokes well him invoking the names of Omari nblack and Juan Davis out of nowhere was just wild you know like unsolicited but who's the other who's the other unsolicited name that gets brought up Ryan Wingo whenever he got asked the question about all these wide receivers right whenever the national media said this said what are you gonna do I forgot who the reporter is it it it it doesn't matter but it like they were they they knew the Texas situation where they have like six wide reers that all need to that all kind of need to play right and so what are you going to do and he's like well we like we all know Ryan Wingo is like well you know it's gonna be a really good player for us it's like the first thing he says he's like well okay you're gonna invoke that name unsolicited like at this point like I said you're not allowed to be surprised if if Ryan Wingo comes in and he's the alpha of this of this group now do I think it'll be I probably Isaiah Bond I put Isaiah Bond on my all SEC list that'll come out today did you put him on your all SEC list or no no I didn't vote I didn't vote I did I forgot about it okay yeah easy to forget about I guess we're so busy I I forgot about it no like I just I I just barely got to it before I had to go bug out to pick up my kids um and to to be quite honest there were some of them where it was like when I was getting down to like my sixth seventh and eighth like offensive lineman I was just kind of asking Cody I was just like hey dude like which of these guys are draftable you know I'm just like I I have I have I have no idea after the top you know four four or five that are you know the super super superstar guys by the way d DJ Campbell not even an option to vote for on that thing which is just absurd show shows you how good the SEC is though yeah yeah or just you maybe I think he also shows that he's being a little bit dis disrespected but regardless uh if it just shows how good the SEC is maybe I can put it out there that he's being disrespected and maybe it'll make him play with a chip on his shoulder chip on his shoulder this year um so but anyway um yeah Ryan Wingo super excited I know I've talked about it a million times but uh one one other thing that we're learning about this channel is that it isn't always the same people who tune in every day so you might not have heard me say this before is that if you watch back the spring game you understand that they use Ryan Wingo in specialized packages they use Ryan Wingo all game at The X and then you see him in the one situation where they get down into the Red Zone and red zone offense that has been a Bugaboo of this team and something they keep kept keep getting asked about he plays at The X the whole game xxxxx he comes in there for that play I think they bring an Aaron Butler one of these guys to play him at the X Ryan Wingo moves into the slot of course he's the first read the only read the hot read on a on an option route where you kind of bust to the outside for the for the touchdown catch and so that goes to show that they have things dialed up for Ryan Wingo to be used situationally right and H in super super um um highly advantageous spots so doesn't surprise me I feel like whenever there's agreement with everything it's like you you have to just you have to start taking notice and what that means for these other guys what does I mean is it necess is it necessarily gonna I guess does have to be one of these things like what does Rogan call it he calls it like you don't have to have a famine mentality where it's you know just because somebody else is getting something like it doesn't mean that you're missing out on something right it doesn't necessarily have to mean that but I think in football it's kind of different because there there are only so many balls to go around and I begin to wonder who it is who's who's missing out if there is gonna be all this Isaiah Bond if I think there's gonna be a lot of Wingo I think there's gonna be a lot of jontay cook I wonder does that mean we're not GNA but it's like everyone talks like you you mentioned Balden what what do you did did Sark or Quin say say anything about Balden oh yeah I mean Quinn uh he said uh Quinn also said as it relates to Balden uh he goes I think he's going to be a huge contributor to our success for sure I think he's doing a great job uh whenever coach sarkeesian ends up putting him in he's going to do awesome things here was the interesting part Alex he goes surprisingly he's a shorter guy but he'll go up and catch those 5050 balls which was surprising to me but it's always good for me to see it's what Quinn said about Balden how you going to play all these guys I mean that that reporter was on to something yeah and look Mark Valdez in the chat he's saying that the expectations are getting out of hand for Wingo he's saying um and by the way thanks to everybody we're up to almost 500 people in in the chat right now if you guys could please remember to like the show and subscribe to the channel we would certainly C certainly appreciate that um expectations for Wingo are getting out of hand they're to a point where if gets anything less than a breakaway T's first reception people start calling him overrated and it no they're not I don't think so Mark no I I don't I'm I've dud I'm beginning to think that their expectations for wingle aren't aren't properly calibrated you know what I mean I'm just like um I don't think Mark I don't think I think you could Mar I think you conf just you know and I appreciate you watching Mark I think you confusing maybe like expectations with observations yeah right and I think no no one's placing an expectation that he is going to be a 1500 yard receiver be all SEC freshman of a year like that what we're giving you are observations which is a totally different thing and so the observations are he's looked well the observations are everyone keeps talking about him the observations are that this is what Quinn says and so this is what we're observing as relates to him and I think you you have to take it Alice when you think about Xavier worthy hitting the ground running we got to and you know Alex it was almost instantaneous when Xavier got here it was almost like from those first practices we kept hearing like damn this Xavier worthy guy's pretty good damn Xavier's pretty good yeah and next thing you knew like he was a starter I think you know with Sark if he's got a freshman who can ball he'll throw him in there without without blinking yeah I mean that makes that's exactly right what you said is exactly right with Xavier Worthy it was just it was um it wouldn't it would you know it was always in the in the realm of possibilities that something like this could could happen for worthy in his first year but it wasn't like it wasn't expectation he was a late add to the class all this all this stuff like that it wasn't it was an expectation and Cody makes a good point of chat and and thanks again to to Specs for being a great sponsor of the of the specs chat line spec same day delivery can save the day with our specs app or online shopping from worldclass wines to hard to find spirits and craft beers T Gourmet Foods delicious snacks and spectacular sweets It's spec cheers to savings so on these wide receivers Cody's saying that um if I pull it back up he's saying so what what do you both make of Sark saying seven receivers do you so whenever Sark was saying we have seven guys who we can rotate in to get the football to so if you I I I don't know I'm not going to put words in on War's mouth I I I don't want to do that but I think it's I think there's six guys that need to be in the I think that jonte Wingo Bond DeAndre Moore Silas Balden Matthew golden those are the six that I think you know the seventh would be Ryan nibblet and I'm not because he's the only uh one besides Parker Livingstone Freddy Duos and um and uh who's the other one Aaron Butler who who who who' worked as high up as the as the second team right yeah de DeAndre Moore has been the first team slot Ryan nib has been the second team slot so I figure that that seventh player he's talking about is probably nibblet and so Cody's asking if we digest that as a positive or is because he's the only only other one that isn't a freshman to me it's neither to me it's okay so to me it's neither of those things but the closest thing would be the only one that isn't a freshman I think the real thing is he's the one that's just highest up on the two deep right you you have to throw in him because he's actually running with the twos I think that that's probably the reason I think to you know the thing is Alex I I you have the numbers but I just I I'm go I go off of memory no matter what I Sark I believe sark's going to be s right I don't think we're going to see a receiver rotation like Tom Herman had where we look at the box score and eight guys had receptions and 10 guys or had receptions in the game like at the end of the day Sark has his bcow running back and that's the guy who's going to get the majority of the touches and then he has his number two guy the Thousand yards it's like bet on it keep like keep betting on it not to happen yeah no it's if you done that the last 12 years you'd be in bankruptcy and then I think when it comes to comes to the receivers as much even though he has these guys and again you have the snap distribution probably in front of you I think at the end of the day he's gonna have his top receiver his top two guys that he goes to uh and then he'll have his his H have his number three the tight end will contribute and then they're just gonna be everybody else who's looking for some time but I don't think we're going to see this waves and waves and waves of receiver that doesn't seem that doesn't doesn't seem to be what he does as a play caller uh and again you I'm sure you have the numbers Alex but off memory I I his seems to be exactly right I mean especially if you're just thinking about your your recent memory I mean 2023 looking back you can understand why you have two guys to go in the first two rounds of the draft like you're not gonna take those dudes out um 20 but see 2022 was similar too right it was very the the one year you can look at would be 2021 and even if you look at that year it was it's still the distribution is still still very very topheavy right in 2021 they didn't have good players they like they had I mean not to say that they're bad players but I mean behind Xavier worthy who was then a freshman right yeah yeah yeah was a freshman yeah three years so he comes in and he plays 86% of snaps by far the most right yeah that year the second most snaps you'll dude if I gave you five guesses I'll bet you wouldn't even guess who had the who had the second most snaps D well now now I know it's a trick question you're not gonna get it okay who is it Joshua Moore oh wow you would have got it huh it's like he didn't last the whole season I had the data I I I I took the data and and and and I wouldn't have got it if you would have asked me in 2021 who played the second most wide receiver snaps for for Texas I would have guessed all day and never gotten it he didn't play the whole season Alex he got he got he got he got dismissed from the team he got dismissed from the team after the Iowa State game he he missed the last three three games yeah yeah um the the uh third was Marcus Washington he played 52% of snaps fourth was Jordan Whittington who missed basically the whole M the just the big thick middle of the Season he came back for the last two games played like the first four but that was back when Wick could never stay healthy um he played 34% of snaps and then kevante Dixon was the wide receiver five he played 177% of snaps so all those guys meaningful percentage of snaps you get to guys below them you get like alvonte Woodard and dudes like this like five% I don't consider those those those meaningful right but most we've ever seen from sarc and I dude I think that even if like a Matthew golden or silus balen come in and they're playing that even if he goes back to a 2021 strategy where you do have one guy that's like your Alpha you know and two two guys playing it just over 50% of snaps I'm not sure you know in a in one guy that's playing a 35% snap count one guy playing a near 20% snap count that still only feeds five mouths and a few of those mouths that are getting fed probably don't feel like they're getting fed enough yeah you know they just they just don't but but whenever you have that kind of distribution you have you know once you 3 four five six seven players that played uh as well that season they played all less than 4% of snaps so it didn't like there's any there's not there's that much more to even give away so even if we were to take all of those snaps from all of the extra contributors and like these garbage time Kai money and these other dudes I'm looking at right taking all of those and say all right those never happened and let's all let's let's let's take all those and consolidate them into one player snaps yeah and so to to where we can get to six total players you're still only talking about another and added let me just see what what it would be so with these with these one two three four five six seven players who played um who played at who were the under the wide receiver five threshold of a kante Dixon you're talking about a grand total of 5.92 6.52 I'm sorry 7.52 eight 9.04 9 .91 you're talking it you're talking taking all those guys and making them into one player you're the player that gets 10.8% of snaps there's there aren't enough snaps to go around unless unless the distribution comes way down which brings me to my next point that I wanted to talk about with you and that's that Steve sarkeesian said he said the same thing about his wide receivers to the National media that he told you about his offensive lineman in the in in the private cool kids meeting he something along the lines of um at the beginning of the Season we're going to use the beginning of the season to really play a lot of these guys and figure out I I think with the wide receivers the thinking is different on Warren I'll be interested to hear your perspective on this I think with the wide receivers he knows he has depth he knows the depth is good he knows it's solid he's going to be trying to figure out who to get on the field to make the best combinations and I think once they get into that conference play right which is it's G to be a gauntlet of conference play I think he'd like to know who his dudes are that are his kind of his his big dogs and which dudes are going to be in sort of these secondary types of positions right whereas with the offensive line is that more about making sure guys are ready in case the depth is needed yeah I think there's a couple of things at play here Alex so SAR basically said as relates to the the the offensive line that they he will be playing a lot of guys early in the year to just in case they're needed later in the year now sark's mentality is this they start on August the 31 and his goal is for them to be playing on January 20th they're basically saying Alex that's a 17 Game season like that that's now the mentality with the playoffs is that you might be playing 17 games that's including the conference Championship playoff game so on and so forth and so because of that now CBS you g to buy right so it could be a little bit less but if you start in a it's basically a football season and so I think there's two things that that are played they know that's a long season they also know injuries are going to occur like you knock on W but it's hard to be healthy for that long of a period of time and I think too so he knows Alex when you look at the for first part of the schedule the thing that happens here is that you have the opportunity outside of the Michigan game three out of four games Alex you could probably play a lot of people you can get a lot of people play so I think when he's yeah you're not gonna be doing that experimental you're not gonna be doing that experimental nonsense no no Mig be they're gonna tighten up on Michigan but but so when he starts talking about uh getting guys to play Early Alex he's talking Colorado State he's talking UTSA he's talking lob Andro he's talking about those are the opportunities that they'll have to get guys a bunch of playing time so therefore if needed down the road versus the Florida or Arkansas Kentucky or whatever the case may be that they would have had guys who have played early have gotten some playing time been able to get feedback work on different things and so offensive line is going to be one of those things that you'll see more guys early and again they'll have the opportunities to basically bench guys in the third quarter and let guys play a quarter or quarter and a half uh and and be able to get some really meaningful playing time you know what that means to me your deep dig is gonna take forever oh yes is that what it means or no did I just depress you you just depressed me okay what was your point what was your point now I'm just gonna go jump off the go jump off a bridge somewhere thank thankfully there's there's no bridges over Lake Travis allowed so um no water in there anyway so it' be a really hor you're gonna depress me even more man come on my bad uh the um the uh I I will say this about lake Lake Travis driving home yesterday and kind of seen it from the Steiner Ranch area that I don't usually get up to very much these days but back from the north um look it's it's down but that is still a big deep lake there's still plenty of water in that Lake it's just it it it it needs it it needs more big time so please man please rain man I live on the other end like I think it's uh I forget what the name is I don't know if it's like Old Creek or I forget where it is but area like just like just north of there you take that back road to um bull bulock Hollow yeah I believe it's that you you take the you know what's the the back roow to where the uh the the the Oasis and the Oasis if you go back there and then you make a left and down in there all that whole that's bull Hollow is that what it's called yeah I'm in that area bu Hollow and then I think that that hits the road that intersects Anderson Mill but I forget what that Road's called you come out of that that's where catch used to live back in there and stuff that area down there Alex it is dry I'm sure I'm sure there well because all you can see there is the little is the little inlets that the little uh uh what is that Creek that Creek back there but that little creek has an arm and stuff like that there little inlets like yeah man like that's that isn't on the main body I don't think you're going to see any water period and it's it's it's like really sad because yeah these people who have their boat ramps I mean literally they there's they have the probably go like half a mile before they ever see some water it's horrible I feel bad for they they had waterfront property at one point no I mean I mean l like those are my neighbor like those are my neighbors like it's it's the same thing like we live on the B Creek arm right and so like I don't live actually on the actual Lake but my but my neighbors like uh next next door do but they don't live on a lake right now they live on like a creek bed it's like it's like you know they got they got their they got their dock just sitting on dry ground just waiting for it to come up and get lifted up but anyway um yeah I what I think this means besides the whole Lake Travis stuff and besides the whole thing about the Deep dig is Cole Hudson getting some extra reps here's the other important one Hayden Connor getting reps at Center while allowing a guy like Cole Hudson to get reps at the left guard or Allowing God forbid if he's gotten any better or maybe if he hasn't gotten any better NATO yuso to at least get some experience because whenever he's been able to play for Texas he's been bad and I look I don't I think he's he was too good a prospect to be a guy who you can just ride off as being being bad right you can't just do that you can't throw the baby out with the bath water here some guys take some guys take longer you know some guys they they talk about these guys development as if they you know when they you know you toss them in the oven and they say with some of these guys they're just a little bit more of a slow bake it's just it is it is what it is with some of these guys and that could be the the deal with NATO yuso um you're just you're just trying to find out but I do think that whenever you talk about seeing about getting these more guys in and getting these these more rotations yes you're talking about it from the standpoint of well hopefully Texas is blowing these teams out and they're getting the extra run anyway right but it felt to me from what he kind of said in the article is that there's going to be a little bit and you guys can find all this stuff in Orange Bloods and so much there's so much that we didn't get to so much we didn't get to I want to talk about Jason's updated recruiting odds on some of these guys maybe we can do that on Monday Tuesday we can save some of it for next week yeah but um oh and the Quin youer stuff we we're not even get to that but I think just ending on this and saying if if you kind of read the whole context of what omir said and what Sark said to the to the private media it felt almost more than saying we're just hoping to get some garbage time run for these guys it felt like they were trying to you know in these in these games like this give them some meaningful run for some guys who really need it during the meaningful time to get some good take to get some good tape out there and I think the way we're gonna see it um you can write this down as my prediction the way that that is going to happen is they're gonna is is they're gonna take Jake major out of the game they're GNA put Hayden Connor at at Center and they're gonna bring in either either Cole Hudson or nto at the left guard and we're see that earlier in the game we're gonna see that happen with the ones that's not just gonna happen once the once the twos come in yeah and and and you you might see some goby at the left tackle position you know in in second halfs of games as well and that would be good because when Banks is gone after this year it at least you will have a guy that's had some playing experience as opposed to just throwing someone out to the wolves and at least it make the competition for whoever is going to compete for that left tackle who who do you think the two guys that'll be competing for the left tackle position next year will be as of R I think it well I think it depends on who's coming back um I wonder if Cam Williams if he came back whether he might you know I think he might just keep Higby at left tackle and keep cam over there at right maybe but if Cam was there I think maybe you could start considering say look Brandon Baker's here he's been good at right tackle maybe we'll have him and guby have a camp what a battle that would be oh that that be a heavyweight battle Yeah I think maybe that's I mean I I'd never thought about it until now the only other guy that would be in contention right now if there weren't some position change I think it would be Jaden chadman I think guby would win that one easily much much much tougher battle there with uh Brandon Baker but um again thanks to everybody for being here today thanks to specs and for for sponsoring the show thanks so much
