Kevin Costner speaks about 'Horizon' box office disappointment

I think it probably was a reaction to um to to the the release of one it didn't have overwhelming success um I've had a lot of movies that way that that that have stood the test of time so I think that was but for me that was a that was a studio cision to to release it six weeks later and it became a studio situation to not but for me it fell back into my plan which was I always wanted to come out with movies about five six months apart and that was going to allow me to come to Venice and what happened was when it was when it was six weeks I wasn't going to get to come here I wasn't going to be in a blue suit and wear my glasses and have all my friends are saying take take these things off they look silly too I'm getting all these messages um but what happened is a miracle in life I I don't know I I go after what I want to do and what happens is sometimes things lay out and so what's happened I would have never come to Venice because they won't release a film they won't show a film here if it's already out and my plan was always to bring it to Venice and suddenly it has happened again and Alberto was the biggest reason this happened he believes in film he saw the first chapter he know what he felt when he saw the movie he said I want to bring the second movie here and I'm forever indebted to him him will be regardless of any outcome because the movie will live forever in its own way and it will stand for itself if it's authentic if it's entertaining and you will decide that in the people that choose to reach for but Alberto bringing us here gave my dream and and didn't allow it to be squashed and then went a step further to say let's show the first one in the morning let people have brunch go somewhere where see something beautiful take a nap something and come back and watch a second one I'm thinking Venice keeps coming to my rescue it just does and when I was here 35 years ago and uh had a little movie that didn't do well in the United States called Fandango I was here with Silverado somebody came in and I only one person wanted to talk to me I only had one interview 35 years ago the rest of the cast had this I had one and a person came in and interrupted my one interview said you must come down the street Fandango is playing I said this is Silverado because no it's Fandango I walked out of my one interview walked into a theater that was full people sitting in the aisles and the movie was just ending and they turned when the lights came on my name was announced I had no idea that would happen and the people of Venice clap for the movie because the movie was What mattered and then they turned to me and looked at me and I was never the same and we walked out of that theater the entire audience walked out onto the Boulevard and we walked up here and I thought I'm making movies for the world I may make American movies but everything I do to them is about behavior and I think Behavior trans translates around the world
