just about ready to go and on the mound in this one Brandon fat but Chris he hasn't exactly been Stellar here on his home M well I'll say this every player wants to perform well at their home ballpark in front of their fans in front of the city and you know this guy no different he wants to be more effective here so you you look at the numbers they haven't been great at home I'm sure he wants to turn that around and we'll see if he's able to start that in this one and now the DH sh Otani and the pitch out towards Right Center that's well struck could be extra bases around first heading for two and he's there with a lead off double everything came together for him nice line drive to the P side right there but he didn't spin off of it that's the key you still have to extend through the baseball in order to hit a line drive like that here's mookie [Applause] bets swing in a miss o one o and [Applause] one man it's second and there's a foul ball this guy at the dish excels and two strike counts got to be careful with them out there on the mound turns and fires the BS swings and blasts one deep to left Center and it's a one hopper Off the Wall should be extra bases and they strike first as they take a one- nothing lead puts a run on the board and picks up an RBI that pretty much split the Zone down the middle and those are the ones where you got to make them [Applause] to watch I mean definitely a threat whenever he's got that bat in his hands but for me it's it's all about the mechanics they're so sound he gets his foot down on time and starts his swing so much consistency that bat stays in the zone for a long time and he squares up the baseball makes the grab two down it's never fun going back to the Dugout after hit the line drive that finds a glove but you will get some high five you know when you make great contact you feel like you've done everything right but in this game of baseball not everything is in your control here's tcar Hernandez in talked to around the league yeah he's an Umpire he doesn't get a lot of looks from players maybe here and there once in a while but he's appreciated back there swing and a miss and he got him one down well he's really dialed in and this offense is going to have to do something to try to break that maybe it's square around the out of the box agitated a littleit do something that just changes what's happening right now because at this pace it's going to be a long game so you got to figure it out quickly next to hit for Arizona aeno [Applause] Suarez right through there for a strike home team down to stomach in baseball today but even by those standards they're going down way too often and I think they're having a hard time getting any momentum going as a [Applause] result the wi of the pitch stays [Applause] alive kicks andial and down on strikes he goes picks up strike out number seven just absolutely rolling on the mound he's looking very much on his game in the early parts of this one boo fully on the attack with these hits that's seven strikeouts already so he's got a good Pace going no doubt here's Josh Bell struck out looking in his first at bat and now that one fouled off the Dodgers leading by four we're here in the bottom of the fourth swings and misses at the pitch off the plate good pitch right there tied him up on the hands if I'm out there on the BMP I'm going right back in [Music] there one down base is empty just misses one and two to count really close pitch down around the knees there and you could see him asking where it missed probably doesn't agree but it not walking anyone I mean this guy's just [Applause] going right after hitters filling up the strike zone and it looks like hitters they're trying to think with him but they just are a pitch behind dominating stuff out there on the M Suarez that's the step out of the way for ball one new arm out of the bullpen Alex vicia this softball has been really good against left-handed [Music] hitters that's [Applause] [Applause] that one back up the middle and it gets through throw stops the lead runner at second two on and two out really nice job staying up the Middle with his approach he didn't try to do too much with the pitch just shot it through the infield could be a chance here for them to start clawing back into this ball game Roos tosses the first and that'll do it diamond back we go to the top of the fifth now it's the second baseman Gavin Lu and here it comes ground ball up the middle to First and he beats it well he did all he could it short to try to make an amazing play and almost got it done but good hle the P for the Diamond Backs Paul Seawall well they didn't get much length out of their starter in this one so they've got a lot of outs to eat up in that Bullen I think they'll look for some length out of him right here if they can get it and a foul ball you know these Dodgers putting together some really good at bats in this game there's been a lot to like with how they're approaching their chances at the pl it looked to me like they really wanted to get to the starter early get him out of the game before he settles in so I'd say mission accomplished [Applause] leftand hitter Waits on the ground right side quick feed to Second for one and that's two for me that's one of the toughest double plays to turn on the infield the first baseman has to get inside create a throwing Lane to hit that middle infielder to start the double play and then from there completing it back to First really good job all the way around here's mooki now and that's down a base that you see it extremely well the problem is the velocity at spin rate just happens to Jump by you you expand your Zone you don't stay tall on the back side and you're really not even able to make you're looking for but because of the speed differential between the fast in that pitch really hard for a hitter to get on time with it in the Air Center Field Edmond makes the grab one down so left [Applause] so the Dodgers have a new arm on the mound Ryan braier he doesn't get a lot of strikeouts compared to other relever so he relies on getting that soft contact and the defense doing work first with two away not close with that one and the count is filled up 32 two out r on first lot of movement in the infield hitters got to stay focused on the pitch righty delivers bounced up the the numbers stack up with some of the best in the game ground ball right side tosses the first going up one down really nice job to get your first Out to the Ball Game so up next Miguel Roos Line Drive Bas hit so they get a man aboard with a one out single you know I was watching his rounds during batting practice today so impressed with his ability to let the ball travel go back up the middle in the other way sometimes when you step in the Box during the game you get a little anxious and you get away from that but so far I've seen him stay consistent with his pregame preparation Carol racing over to make the catch sh Otani up to the dish and first offering is fouled off two outs boots it no throw that's an error and everyone is safe well you have to take care of the baseball and that's just not something they've been able to do in this one that's their third error and part of the reason they're losing right now that one drilled left field gel handles the chance two left back here in the desert we head to the bottom of the night and here's the first basan Josh Bell and the pitch not even close there and it's w to know right through there for a strike in this situation you expect the Batters to be a little more patient possibly take until they get a strike with that you don't want to miss your opportunity to get ahead early in the count he didn't right there just missing there and it's two and [Music] two hit hard on the ground to short one out bottom of the nine now up next for Arizona Jake McCarthy 0 for three with two strikeouts and a fly out there's the strike some hitters are just more confident they can track that first pitch out of the hand of the pitcher they don't care if they fall behind 01 that's off the mark and it's a ball on a stri the Dodgers leading by four here the last half of inning number nine close one doesn't get the call two and one swing in a line drive and a base hit up the middle just kind of slice that one into Center hitting is really easy for some guys one thing that I can see new pitcher for the Dodgers Lake tring well he's a big time strikeout guy out there this season averaging more than one per inning Suarez stands in now looks at that one inside he's a bullpen arm that keeps the ball in the ballpark but obviously out of the bullpen you're looking to limit home runs yeah and that's why he's such a high leverage arm just doesn't matter for him he looks at attacking his own and attacking hitters regardless of the situation the onew s and misses and Arizona with just one out left oh that slider was way out of the zone and for me it just comes down to not seeing the pitch out of the hand not tracking into the zone and then also being a little bit anxious not confident in your two strike approach and so when a guy's in that position you get him to commit early and a lot of times you get the swing and Miss as you did right there oh a head2 in the count sure you got four pitches you can work with but throw something you can command and get this at bat over with as quickly as possible if there were an average catcher behind the plate I'd say take second base but this isn't a catcher you want to run on his quick release is unreal fights it off you'll see another trying it is just one strike away pitch misses there and the count one and two McCarthy off of first with two away that's a little bit low that turns out to be a really good take right there but you don't want to end this game with the B your shoulder at the belt and FES lifted to left and that should do it and that is the ball game playing meaningful games in September's always exciting a win today first day of the month this will just add more fuel to the fire a 4 nothing shut out in this one Dave Roberts and Company
