they did it the New York Giants they did it baby they signed two corners let's talk about [Music] it you're watching Giants Now by chat sports I am your host Marshall green and I am happy to come on here to report the news that the New York Giants have not signed one corner but they have signed two Corners to the practice squad but both these players I believe could be on the active roster for a couple of games this year but more specifically the player we're going to talk about first Duke shell I think that he could be on the New York Giants active roster for week one against his former team the Minnesota Vikings shell has actually been in the NFL for quite some time and he has had some productive years in the National Football League a little bit about bio a six round pick back in the 2019 NFL draft from the by the Chicago Bears he's appeared in 52 games with 11 starts three years with the Bears one with the Vikings and one with the Los Angeles Rams his best year though in the National Football League was that 2022 season he was awesome for the Minnesota Vikings in that year in that year he allowed a 45.7% completion percentage he is going to be a guy that starts on the practice squad for the Giants learn the system and then try to get up to speed to get ready to go and maybe be on this team for week one because we know the Giants Corner Room right now is not all that talented if you're wondering where he's going to play on the football field for the Giants he's got a little bit of experience playing the slot and on the outside die the year I want to focus though is that 2022 year because that was the year he was with the Vikings and that is when he had his best year in the National Football League he was an outside corner that year and that was the first year that he really played the outside corner position when he came into the league he got started with the Bears as a slot in the next year in 2020 he pretty much only continued to play the slot 145 snaps in the slot compared to 45 on the outside then in his last year with the Chicago Bears he only played in the slot and he played a lot too 371 snaps there compared to seven on the outside but in 2022 when he had 382 snaps as an outside corner he played really well and the Pro Football Focus numbers and grades they backed that up in that season with the Vikings he had an 81.5 defensive grade over 398 snaps the second most in his NFL career he also had a coverage grade of 84.9 that is an elite elite number on Pro Football Focus and I think he might be active week one against the Minnesota Vikings actually spent this off season at least part of this off season by the Vikings he got cut did not make their 53 man roster and now he finds himself on the Giants practice squad and I believe that he can help this team I'll go as far as to say he might already be the second best corner on this team I don't want to be disrespectful to Cordell flat or Drew Phillips or Trey Hawkins or Nick McLoud but none of them have done what he what Duke Shelly has done in the NFL none of them have survived out on the outside on the boundary on an island and held their team or held quarterbacks when throwing to him to a 45.7% completion percentage he was awesome with the Vikings watch this channel a lot you know former producer Patrick seatman he is a Vikings fan he hes the Vikings Channel and he told me you guys got a good one in Duke shell he's going to be on this roster sooner than you know it he's going to be able to help you out and he knows where the Giants Corner sit as he's studying us for week one we're studying him he said I hope Duke does not play which tells me seeps doesn't want to see him out there another Corner that Giants added to the practice squad is Art green unlike Shelly green great last name as well this guy he's a stud he doesn't have much NFL experience he was a 2023 udfa at the University of Houston goou shout to the H Hardley home but always reing he was named a second Team all AAC guy in his last season in college football and he was on the Brock Broncos practice squad last year I talked to Matthew Peterson the host of the Broncos breakdown here at chat sports and he told me he had some okay moments flashed a little bit at triny camp but he did not make the team and he just didn't think that he was good enough to make that roster so he'll be more of a true practice squad guy the Giants holds a depth piece and maybe even a developmental piece because art green was one of the most athletic people to ever go through testing drills look think about it like this his R score which is relative Athletic score a scale a score that really just puts all of your athletic testing numbers into one number on a scale of 1 to 10 his is 9.49 this ranks 113th out of 2,212 quarterbacks from 1987 to 2023 he's 6'1 plus 200 lb had a 36 in vertical to go with a 4.34 that's the 96 percentile his 20 yard split 98th percentile 10 yard split 97th percentile this guy is an awesome athlete he's just going to have to put it all together and maybe he can develop and continue to learn on this Giants practice squad and maybe be a guy later down the season or if injuries arise that they call on to play on Sundays but I like the Dart throw here legit size legit athleticism and an opportunity for him to continue to grow and learn under Jerome Henderson and the rest of this New York Giants defensive staff I like that move and you know what maybe it pays off down the line get more corners on this team you need him if you watched J's video earlier you know how I feel about the corner position Elijah Garcia was the last player that the Giants picked up on the practice squad and like art green he comes from the Denver Broncos and I talked to Pat Matthew Pon about him and he told me he was a preseason awesome preseason All-American back in 2023 he was a 2022 UDF out of rice SP the last two seasons with the Broncos but he's played just five games the last two years 49 total defensive snaps so hasn't really got the opportunity in the NFL in regular season action to prove who he can be but pety Matthew Peterson host the Broncos breakdown told me that he liked the way he played in the preseason he was close to making the roster but he just didn't crack that G3 the Giants inside dline room that defensive tackle position I like it I like Dexter Lawrence I'm excited for Elijah Chapman man I think Jordan Riley and DJ Davidson are both young players that are going to continue to develop and R Nunes roaches showed last year that he could play at a pretty solid level in this league looking for him to get better though in his second year with the New York Giants at this time of year the practice squad will be very fluid and as it goes on in the regular season it's going to be very fluid as well one thing I've learned about Joe Shane after covering him for two seasons and the Giants now for my fourth season here at chat sports he is going to use every asset every piece of everything he can do to build this team up he is going to do so he's going to use the practice squad he's going to go into the waiver wire he's going to add people to the back end of this roster I don't know where they ranked but I believe the Giants are probably at the top of the league the last two years in practice squad elevations not just on game day but actually elevating those guys after they play the limit of four games to the active roster we've seen that with guys like Isaiah Hodgins and multiple others that have played with the New York Giants Joe Shane is going to use every single resource he can to try to squeeze the most juice out of this roster this practice squad will stay very fluid and I'm going to update you when they do the practice squad moves because I know there is probably a good chance they're going to be playing on Sundays for big blue speaking of Sundays they are right around the
