uh Caleb's wrong in the building mate finally get you back on I think you were one of my first guests in uh when we started Tommy Talks I re it was Griff loges uh and Matt T's loung room I was in there and there's a bit of Z racing going on by the way oric here has here has flee we all invested thousands into the zun stable had eight of us in the uh Syndicate and I reckon a year later we go you know in Bitcoin crash he goes duck where's where's our ponies gone and he goes don't worry about it they're getting F they're coming back mate it's not coming back he not coming back he's uh yeah AR he still be trying to feed him and get him going still big duck but right uh been a while it's good to be back I think you kicked goal the year or in a month before you come on and did I read you might be up for another goal of the year did you get another nomination was another banana another banana it's the only gol of Kick this year so I needed many but you kick some crackers yeah the boys were uh getting stuck in me that week couldn't go on to the Bary without a goal for the year so uh had to uh usually I'd probably try and Senter that one but that time of the year that that scenario had to have a shot when you're up by 90 OD you got to have a shot you don't even look in the Square big Tracy in the already k um how is the duck going I I haven't heard from the big F I tried to call him today just to get a bit of dirt he's the only one that's honest with me these days the duck he does give a bit dirt he wouldn't be afraid to give a bit up but no he's going well he's going well he's um obviously the big forwards the young boys up up forward doing well um he's uh playing his trading the waffle at the moment and his as you know his body is kind of uh touching go at times but he's he's got a good kind of period under his belt now so love the big duck kicking goals when he's up in G his body is bit like the Z run horses that we purchased they uh they don't they don't go that well but he um now he's back he's had a bit of an interrupted preseason and I was just thinking your stocks up Ford have always been a bit of an issue but now it's not now there's there's a heaps and they're all starting to play really well especially JT like he he looks really strong and a hard matchup because you know the other boys up there they kind of get the best defender at times and then he just dominates well you look at it and and dogger ly Jackson um Jo Amos both got some on the board over the last couple of years and and really dangerous matchups up there so they're getting the number one and number two key key Defenders like you said and then JT is coming in and getting the third and the way he's playing he's probably been our most informed key forward this year and U the way he run and jumps to the ball like not many can go with him and he's so physical and from the moment he walked in he was 19 year old and he was being as physical as anyone with big Big Moose Alex Pierce and stuff in training we're like yeah this kid's got something and then just taken a little bit for his his craft and everything to catch up and and now he's uh he's very tough mat up up there so you just get it in there and you know he's going to bring it to ground he is physical and that's what you want just bring it to ground if you can't mark it he's a trademark player for us like once she once the ball hits the deck as well he follows up and tackles like the the best of him and when he uh when he hits bodies and stuff they stay here he got to bit of M about him like you just don't want to get tackled by him he might not get you but when he does get you he's going to get you big time funny is uh you know good mate Brady gray who's working foot club now exx Freo player and now he's a development coach at the club and oh jeez he used to hit hard few few years ago he uh he was playing at Perth demons before he came to Foo and and JT was in his first year and he's uh a big tackle with a bit of a whining arm knock chalky out cold four or five weeks JT before he even play an N game so they had to do some sort and Sor and amending that relationship when Brady come in but that's the kind of player he is he's he he kind of toes that line pretty close but we love him he uh brings a lot of energy it's good to hear Brady's back at the club the club's going really well man it's in great hands I was saying it's like Simon garlic I think is an absolute Ripper and the club the get the way they gave um JL a contract before the year really like that just gets rid of all the noise and then as you know it's a long season you don't start as fast as you want but now like I've been watching I watch most games and you guys are so well defensively structured but now you can see the offense is well it's clicked the last couple of weeks um and no doubt will continue but you guys are a serious threat what what's the what's it like internally I know you don't you know you block out the external noise but there must be some serious belief there is and it's and it's building and um internally I kind of spoke about during the week had a presser and just spoke about that belief and how how it's been there like it's not just obviously we take a fair bit from that Melbourne game and what we're able to do as a group and put four quarters together but throughout the start of the year like we played some really good footy and then had a quarter 10 minutes that let us down like that carton game The Last 5 minutes really let us down like we we played that game the way we wanted to and we just kind of got done at the end and then similar with Port game we felt like a lot of the metrics that we measure and value really highly about our game and our brand were really high and they were really good and and we could have walked away with both those games with four points and we would be probably sitting second on the ladder right now but that's not the way it goes and we learn a lot from those games and understand that we need to be better in those moments and we're being kind of search for that four quarter performance and we got that against mour but now the challenge is week in week out to be able to do that and at the moment we've given ourselves a platform to build for the second half of a year um and that's all it is but we've uh we've got a lot of kind of belief that our system our brand our roles that have got we've got in the in the team at the moment they're good enough to be able to take us where we want to go let's talk about the system boring is bat [ __ ] to start the year I'm just going to call it as it is but then you get the last two weeks and it's like well that's amazing and I understand there's foundations you need to build but you've had good defense for a long time so is it offense the main thing you reckon we're obviously maintaining everything else contest and defense but is scoring because I'm big on scoring I believe you have to score I think to win the big fow you know what I mean so yes good keeping teams to 6070 but and your s but is scoring a priority at the moment or not really well it it is to a certain degree but for us our our DNA is our contestant Team D and our defense our focus is not to win the ball back in our defensive 50 our focus is to win it as close to our goal as we can and that's wasn't there at the start of the year we were kind of Defending really well and then we weren't able to win a contest to win it back closer to our goal that what like I'm just I'm just intrigued why why wasn't it there is IT personnel is it like our structures and the way we set up the ground and defended were really good and we're in positions but we weren't impacting we were just kind of sitting back and maybe they got an extra kick or maybe they then switched it to us we just had to finish the job and that's been a big Focus for us to try and win it back close to our goal cuz the the stats say the closer you win it back to your goal the more likelihood for that turnover to result in a score so we have done that the last month six weeks um and there's been periods in there especially the kind of probably six to four to six weeks ago that we didn't finish our work so we'll turn it over and then we were butchering the ball going 50 to our forwards and there's a few weeks there where we couldn't kick straight so there's a few things that were just kind of playing not not into our favor in terms of scoring and um for us our consistency of our focuses week in week out has been a contest and we know as well as winning it back close to the goal if we win contests win contests in dangerous places win stoppage clearances we get the game played in the front half and we so we feel like a ball movement is a byproduct of our good team defense winning the ball back close to our goal and winning contests so it's it is a focus to a to a degree but we feel like it's a byproduct of those other things and and they're our main focus and and that's the process we'll go through to try and score more and that was what the mour was like you look at the contest numbers there was no you smack them yeah so that was that was our kpi that we looked at and like all right we scored more but it was cuz we won a lot more contests and we'll so win the contest so y um there there's been a lot of work going on behind the scenes on finishing our work both goal kicking but also that last kick inside 50 we need to give our forwards bit more of a chance and we feel like we're building that space and just showing a bit more composure around that but that kind of stuff yeah that'll that'll keep going we don't want to kind of put too much focus on it cuz then guys overthink it and what not it's a good call it's a good call and your identity is spot on and it's there it's great I mean I always look back to when we played and that was what we were we're just such a strong defense contest team and then as always go on off turnover score I never scored that many points but now that I'm a spectator I'm just want more points but it's uh you've actually nailed that in what we halfway through the year as we recall this podcast it's pretty exciting considering I reckon a lot of teams would would would love to have the contest in defense um they might have the you know they might have other things in their game but there's no consistency so it's a it's a good answer what about what about the two rocks this is a big conversation I like I love it I I don't I think they they add different um they're different Ruckman in my opinion and then also they're different forward threats like you know sha can kick a goal and so can uh dogger as you say but um Luke Jackson he's he's so Dynamic when he's in the Rock and and Shan's you know as you saw against Melbourne I think gour is one of the best we've seen and he he did give goury a bit of a touchup so it's what's your thoughts on the two and is that do the boys ever talk about it as well cuz everyone knows they got paid a bit of cash yeah there's a little bit of talk about it not not the cash but just like the the two and the talk externally and and internally that belief in those two working is never wavered um because we see dayto day what they do and we've seen throughout the preseason when um dogger was playing up forward um what he could do and the headaches he causes down there for guys like Alex Pierce who's probably the best ke defender in the comp at the moment and him and doger going head-to-head him and JT going you see that kind of happening and but dogger Dogg's ability to run and jump of the footy is second and un like way he takes it up highest point is crazy and that's a forward like that's him running jumping but what I'm a I'm pretty passionate about this and and I if we kind of have an extended run at it an extended stint of those two playing together and it doesn't work and then then I'm then I'm happy for people to talk about it and and whatnot but the fact that they haven't had an extended stint of playing together and being able to get that to work and Luke last year came in as a new player new to the system learning everything but if you look at the longest they've played together was kind of the middle to back end of last year before sha got injured and Luke was kicking goals up forward he was having his 18 to 22 touches a forward backup Rock and kicking his two to four goals a game and having a massive impact and sha was then one of the best Rockman in the comp so it's like I I understand around the two Rockman thing and Luke having such a big impact when he is in The Rock when Shan's out and and vice versa but I think they can work and I think Luke's someone that is so versatile that can play in the Midfield when he kind kind of continues to develop players forward and players a rock and if you're scouting against us and you've got to handle Luke and Shawn and you got to think about not just your main Ruckman but your backup Rockman and how he's going to go against Luke Jackson in the Rock it's a pretty good headche to have or a pretty good kind of decision to have to try and contend with if you're in our position and that's the way I look at it and I just think they're getting it better than more they play together yeah I agree and I also think they forget how young they are how old are the boys so Luke's Luke and I 23 23 uh this year and sha would be at 26 25 26 so you think of yeah people uh they forget about the age factor and the big boys they don't come on true you know it's hard to find tall forwards gun rocks like you're saying Grundy for example goes to the swanes and look we we talk about the mids but let's not forget about the big fell who's titing it to him and probably putting on a few blocks and helping create all those opportunities so no well answered and man you're very on point I can see why you I Skipper you're uh you're very there club's in safe hands the club is in safe hands it's it's actually really exciting I mean all we want to do is see a Premiership it feels like it's around the corner it seriously does it seriously does and um and when I hear like 23 year olds and you know leaders of the club and um you know when you hear about like it's just a business thing but the highest paid players are in that bracket it's pretty good to see that you know we're going to have sustained success how confident are you of keeping everyone together together obviously as a player but um it does start with the with the um the playing group and being hardish and you know making sure that everyone leaves a little bit leftover so we can all be fed and and stay but how confident are you of keeping the uh the core together for the next let's call it four to five yeah I think I'm very confident because one a lot of those guys are signed up like we've got a lot of commitment from a lot of these younger demographic players that are committed for four 3 or 4 years now and that's going to take everyone to mid 20s take everyone to kind of that free agency period in the mid 20s when everyone's starting to kind of hit their straps and I feel like the growth in the group in that period of time will be evident and and we can achieve some incredible things and um that's why I I feel confident because those guys kind of locked away already but also like the commitment you see dayto day like everyone loves the footy Club everyone cares a lot about the football club and the characters we have in the four walls are a top sh and um at the moment we just in Andy's here Andy's Andy's out next year so we just got to make sure Andy first one out is he's he's a next one on the list but a lot of the like sha and coxy last year resigning and showing that faith and then a lot of us at are similar AG like Youngy myself Heath Chapman um Jo Amos all these guys we were all committed for a long period of time so and I think yeah like I said the day-to-day commitment and love that those guys have for the club and and for me I can only speak on this for myself but the the the love that the club shown me since I came to the footy Club um Co year uh not not kind of having F that family support for my first year um but I I felt like I walk straight into a family at 3o and you would have felt that as well I'm sure the the kind of tight-nit group that we got now as well from Simon garlic all the way down to JL and and Paul Salis property Stewart we got to talk about he's a man isn't he is I I saw him the other day when he playing down here he's just he is people don't realize who we're talking about here but he hasn't really got a title because he does so many other things Mass therapist we tell him he does nothing but he's he's literally the property Steward massage therapist he runs pretty much all that kind of room he's got a new role as well he's head snitch say anything that happens he shares yeah so he's got the megaphone ready to so he's the one if you just tell him a couple of stories he slide it onto the coaches maybe geez we don't know about that Paul he'll be listening Paul Paul he's great I gave him a shout out on the Freo P the other day as well uh I give him a lot of growth a gun boxer and I used always walked by and tell him i' put his son to sleep just for a laugh but I think his son would put me to sleep and I think he was only like 15 well him and spring and now work together so there's a lot of B going in that office there's a lot of bant no that's great mate it's um it's yeah it's it's exciting like we said and we'll talk a bit more footy but let's talk about you just give her an update like you said Co year was your first year this was my last year actually was it or maybe my second last year but um yeah just growing up you know pick eight P um you've got a great resume as well you know all Australian last year as I said Vice Captain now got rising star uh you know goal of the year it's been a pretty sweet ride so far but it doesn't it's not easy there's a lot of hard work and we'll talk about how you've done it but just give r a little bit of an update on you know where you grew up um and I'll just chime in with some questions yeah grew up uh early doors in in invel down in the the coast in gibsland um grew up on a dairy farm with with two younger brothers so there was a lot of lot of footy a lot of cricket lot of basketball in the backyard and a lot of competitiveness um but yeah love footy from a very young age and then kind of when I got to grade five um I moved we moved to warle for dad's work and stayed on the farm but uh didn't kind of milk milk cows or was just just had a bit of uh bit of land and whatnot so that was always great still out in the backyard all the time outside kicking the footy with the brothers and stuff and that uh that Journey was was great I loved kind of moving to Wargo and that it was a bit bigger than in vog it was a bit more Unity for sport and um that competitive nature of myself was being able to be fostered at such a young age and um I think from from a very young age I knew that footy or sport in general was something that I really wanted to commit to and and get stuck get stuck into and um yeah and then kind of moved to to Jon grammar at year 11 um which was scholarship scholarship 11 12 little top up yeah exactly and and try and try and uh yeah get down there and fit in with uh that that crowd which is amazing that was the best experience I had like best decision I ever made was to go to go to boarding school for year 11 and 12 just from like the the experiences you get and the people you meet um just seeing the different cultures there as well it's it's an amazing kind of mixing part of all these different cultures and and you made all these people I've got some mates that are from Singapore and live in Singapore now and um just stay in contact with those kind of guys is is pretty eye opening as a 16 17 year old kid from orle that doesn't kind of see isn't exposed to that so that was great um and then yeah kind of played footy and Cricket through there and school footy and CR it was uh the most enjoyable we weren't is crazy isn't it this the system yeah we weren't great at footy um we had Thompson D Brody cemp get drafter from there as well and tan Bron who was now at the cats um and then I played with Jo Corbell when I was year 11 and he the D boy was from Jong as well yeah I knew you two a good M so that's it makes sense yeah yeah no we had we had a great kind of crew there that we uh all kind of got stuck stuck in together and we able to experience things together go down train at VI country and everything together and and whatnot but um yeah that was a great experience School Cricket M that was that was where it was at give us an update of what kind of what what are you talking you better or B you look both I was uh year 12 I kind of spoke to the Vic country footy coach and I was like going to play some school Cricket like had to play with with the scholarship and whatnot and I was like all I won't bow though like I was a like a medium Pacer that needed all the pace you would get so I'd Sprint in and just put put a bit of bit too much pressure through kind of the knees and the ankles and stuff so just for footy I was like I won't Bowl I'll just kind of bat and kind of got halfway through the first game and the competitive ju started kicking in I was I bow some off Spin and got smacked around I was like N Stuff This give me the ball so I just marked out the long run and started and bow for the rest of the year but that was it was another opportunity to be getting getting competition and kind of sh bit of competitive nature but yeah it was it was very much tribal kind of school V school um sit in first slip talk as much crap yeah we had a lot of fun like Tanner and I Tanner brew and I would sit first and second slip and just talk a lot of dribble so who was the best on the lip uh were you good on the lip I'd like to think me but I'd get a bit angry at times and it just yeah exactly yeah but it was um n that was a lot of fun and we nearly won it so we ended up kind of coming and running up so we had a pretty good team and yeah that was that was probably one of my one of most enjoyable kind of seasons of sport across the across the journey but then yeah drafted over to fro at the end of 2019 and been there since pick eight not not easy um you know obviously dominated did you dominate the carnival you're just consistently good when you played footy I mean watching you now you just consistently have 35 possessions win the high ball don't kick a goal kick a goal when you do it goal of the year no but you're just so consistent and so good so clean you just is that like is that how you kind of operated as as a young kid as well um consistency has probably been a bit of a work in progress I'd like to think my effort and and intensity was always consistent but there was a lot of kind of overthinking and perfectionism and stuff growing up so that that consistency probably wasn't wasn't there as much as I would have liked but I think for me the ball handling and cleanness was probably always a big Focus for me because not super fast not super big um so I needed to buy myself my mindset was buy myself as much time as I can so if I take one take I I got an extra half a second to make a decision with the ball or whatnot whereas if I fumble it the pressure's already on you so that was kind of my mindset so I did a lot of work on touch from a young age and kind of making sure that was pretty pretty I tried to make it as lead as I could and um I felt that's that stayed with me until now but um that was probably kind of my main focus gr up um yeah it wasn't super I had bit of a tank like endurance but not very fast quite slow small stocky a little bit overweight grown up and uh especially once you get to the combine your skinny taken for the first time it's that's a scary side combine makes me laugh I still laugh at me mate M Michael T I talk about him a bit on the Pod but good M of mine and bit of a knucklehead but he he's a key Defender but he's probably a little bit under sized so he was sliding in the old heel raisers in his socks y he's bumped himself up to 195 and cuz they to make you take your shoes off and he goes I'm too smart for them try in the bottom of the sock in the socks so they gave him three centimet on the uh thing ended up going first round of the dogs I could have used that little tricks there you got to tune in guys of a young kid you got to be I'll probably make him take their socks off now but um you can't escape the skin fers yeah I couldn't that's what I was thinking I couldn't get anything around that I mean we're trying to put oil on our stomachs and it's I was I was one of the worst at the combine so few my interviews I we won't name the teams but yeah it got stuck in me pretty bad at the interviews but oh well the way the way would have had interviews with a lot of clubs wouldn't you around pck eight they would have thought you maybe slide not or was it more yeah no there was there was a fair few um never there was maybe two that I didn't speak to or one that threw out but with the AFL Academy and kind of that process they like you meet the all the recruiters throughout you do those little speed dating ones insect to all the recruiters so you kind of get to know pretty well you just reminded me of you know draft camp and there's always one weirdo in the room that ask some weird question is there any anyone that do you remember any silly questions or something that come your way no I can't remember like it's it's an intense time and and you're bloody nervous oh you're only young you're 17 years old it's intense and I just remember the first time I was ever exposed to drug testing like assada testing was at the combine and I didn't get tested but we're sitting at dinner and we're just all just eating this massive dining hall of of draft perspective draf e and then these people in the white shirt start walking in just filtering in and you're oh my God what's going on here and they just start tapping people on the shoulder tapping people on the shoulder and my mate Sam Flanders who's uh now the go was dominating dominating yeah he was a Gippy boy as well and he got tapped on the shoulder and this would have been about 7:30 at night and we were in the rooms next to each other at the hotel and I hear him kind of coming in at real late like I was asleep and I spoke to him the next morning he reckon about midnight yearold and he couldn't couldn't go to the tour he was so nervous stage Frid cuz they full stare at your peka don't they you have to they look at your peka and you go M I'm trying to he's got this he's just on 18 like first experience hasn't been poor black so yeah I felt bad for him but that was that's that's the combine so shout out s Flanders that is a very good story ofers with the stage FR it's full on isn't it though like you know in post game you're that dehydrated and then you if you do have a little bit of stage fright you're like come on like just get something going here long 60 M to fill up the thing 60 mil and Away you go at 17 though or 18 that' be yeah a bit scary that's a good story that um and then obviously at the Freo or what was your first impressions of the footy Club be honest like when you first got there yeah fre wasn't gone that well then were they no no we had there was a couple years have kind of gone on the draft and and picking some young Ls up and to be honest I I hadn't watched much Foo um couple years before that like like you said they weren't weren't in the finals or anything at that point and um there's a lot kind of the Sunday afternoon slot a lot of those didn't didn't watch a heap of footy and and obviously you was a little bit of talent at the at the team at the moment at that time with um Andy and Adam cherer and these kind of guys that were high DFT picks but then F just won a brown low medal his second one at that point and um yeah for me the the first impression of Freeman with the place was we kind of we flew over Hayden and I and um we got picked up by Marky Anderson great great man Mark Anderson um and we were taken down to bathers beach house down at uh down in Foo and there was uh we were sitting outside having a bit of a feed and we're just observing some people and there was uh a few a few people that might have been have been intoxicated all around it was men and woman and they were they were screaming at each other and went like 2 Meers away I'm me and young like what is going on you come from the country where you don't you're not exposed to a whole heap of stuff and Mark's just like right boys let's go let's get out of here Mark what are you doing might take it on the vs so yeah that was my first experience it was bit bit uh as you know there a few there's a few lunatics at times but when you when you're around it you get used to it yeah yeah 100% and that was kind of the first experience but the next day in and uh was able to get go home with FY and um live with him for a few weeks and Y and I both Liv there and that was that was a great experience like people kind of speak about how great a PO he was but it was a byproduct of his professionalism and his commitment to getting better every day so seeing his routines and processes we took a lot out of that and he gave us a lot of time early doors which is great so that was 3 weeks then took us into Christmas um and then yeah got back and the votee party don't skip the vote party were they still going then ah my first year night wasn't that was Christmas was we had we had nothing I rolled me ankle last last day before Christmas right was in the moon Boot and Andy and I went back and we just had a movie night that was ice cream ice cream I that is grim I have to get Aaron sandlands and Hayden Valentine back there just to throw a party yeah there there's been one since since shaie Dary organized it it was just it was a bit of shambles sh yeah shaie wasn't as n he was good he was good but he he said never again he's never put that much time and effort into something again now you know what it's sh they're not easy they're not easy he used to just rock up and just yeah Rock up big swagy and just throw his weight around which we do love yeah we the boat party was something that we'd um you almost be a bit scared because they would especially as a first year I remember my first year I was yeah blind but even ask Andy braa he was it was it was as good as I seen we'll have to wait till he's on but I just remember him uh I don't know what kind of hard style shuffling videos he watched as a kid but he had the mustard and tomato sauce and he was cutting it up the best yeah where does he go he does his hundred hundreds or whatever and he had to fly to I don't know whether it's Vietnam with the family like he going away like sober him up and get him on the plane you f like the red eyee I'm pretty sure the Midnight Red Eye and remember we all woke up Dusty and he'd already done his hundred hundreds I'm going all this Fike is sick he's going to be a good footballer the thing thing we know about Andy is he's highly committed to whatever he does so he's very committed to his training and stuff but when he's able to have a relaxing ually he's and cuz he's let's be honest you're look at him you think he's strady 180 it was a performance like now they're the ones you want you're like I did not pick that coming and that's why high energy that's why the vot party kind of um I don't know I feel like everyone starts to relax a little bit get to know each other then they all go away for two weeks and come back and everyone's still talking about the boat party well that's the balance of it like you you know been in the system so long those kind of opportunities to relax and have a few beers are always great um and you kind of need those opportunities to to especially the the young boys and getting to know them and kind of yeah all pretty nervous when they walk in so just been a to relax them which is great well it's about a month in and and you've done all the hard work to that point so it's a it's a good one it's always better to drink beers when you've earned them but um n it's good and like we said we're speaking about Freo but like I think more I want to talk about your performance like you you've always said you've always been a gun you know that it's just more this year though I feel like you've taken your game to new heights you know the Midfield at Freo stacked there's Brown L's in there andy nearly won one um as you're talking about like Shan and and Luka some of the best Ruckman in the league and then you've got a lot of other guys starting to go through there as well but your game in particular has gone to new heights this year is it what do you what do you put it down to because a lot of people that listen to this they they're footy enthusiasts they you know they might be young aspiring uh you know Caleb song out there they might want to be doing what you're doing and looking for something to get to the next step what do you put it down to your improvement yeah I think like we spoke about consistency a bit earlier and um a big thing for me it was kind of the end of 2022 where we played finals footy and um I was starting to kind of feel like I was I was part of the team and um you know early in your career you're just trying to play each week and stay in the team and and do what you can to to kind of do that but then you kind of get to a point where you want to start having a bit more of an impact on games a bit more of an impact on the team and um felt like that year kind of reflected at the end of that season and um felt like individually um I'd kind of improved and some of my best games were like really good like i' had some games where I felt like I was a a really good AFL player and then there was other games where um I wasn't as consistent and I'd kind of drop off and I wouldn't have as much of an impact and I was like I think I think my best foot is good enough and it's just about the question I as asked myself was how I can make that a norm for me and week in week out be able to do that cuz I feel that's what the the best players in the competition do like you see like the the bond for example his consistency we in week out it's incredible um Loy Neil these kind of guys that just front up each week whether they getting tagged whether they' a bit sore whether they got something going on they're just able to do it and I looked at that and I was like all right I think physically like I'm I'm staying in games I'm able to kind of play games all that and that'll kind of look after yourself through preseason but um mentally like the the mental side of the game I felt like that was probably an untapped area for me and kind of went and was listening to a few a few podcasts and um One Was Your Man Dill Buckley's Dylan Friends Podcast and he uh he had a guest on and he was a sports psychologist and I was like a lot of what he's talking about I can relate to and I feel like that's areas for growth for me and um I kind of was able to get get onto him and reach out to him and um and now I've kind of worked with him for the last 18 months and and learned a lot in in about myself about my own mental I guess application and processes throughout a game and in the lead up to games but also just about how to take a little bit of pressure off yourself and and relax and enjoy the experience and and understand that that confidence and and where your mentality and mindset can go at times when you lose a bit of confidence or um how to keep that as stable as you can and really commit to what makes you the player that you are and I think that's being the biggest thing for me just to I guess maintain that consistency of week in week out um you don't know how many disposals you're can to end up with at the end of the game you don't know how many score involvements goals whatever you going to kick but what you can control and what I do know is that I'm going to what I'm going to bring to the game and they're my strengths and they're the things that are non-negotiables for me and having that kind of freedom to know what I'm going to bring to the game I don't know what the outcome's going to be but I know what process I'm going to bring to the game and what my strengths are going to be and what it's going to look like in my own head um that's that's that's freeing like you take that anxiety and pressure out of the game about that Unknown about how you're going to go you kind of I know how I'm going to go I don't know how many touch I'm going to have but I know how I'm going to go and what it's going to look like so that that kind of mindset has helped a lot and um there's been a lot of things physically that I've done especially kind of this preseason to change a few things and and whatnot but that M like mental side of the game is something I invest heavily in and I feel like a lot of guys that have done that have had great results and um I know that I'm going to keep investing in that because I know that the impact has had on me yeah well said and it's um it's great to see the impact you know you're speaking about on Deal's podcast and the guest it's awesome to hear that cuz as we explain to people it's a bit of different media now and you can pick up little tips on the way it's awesome that you got touch let's play I want to I want you to talk to me like I'm a 2-year-old okay break down what you've done like it's it's it's it's amazing to hear but people might still not know so let's just let's just stri it back again what was it that you weren't doing that you are now doing yeah there's there's a lot and a lot of it kind of now through the work I've done kind of becomes unconscious and I kind of do it without thinking and um for me we we speak a lot about uh triggers and coming back to your um your triggers and using words in your own head when you're out there and you feel like yourself you're going off task in a game and using your teammates like for example I know Andy knows my trigger and I know his and we can kind of say it to each other and help each other get back on task and get back into the moment and being present is is such a an important thing when you're in the heat of battle and um it's so easy to kind of go off task and and for me I'd always had a trigger of um a word that I kind of say to myself and I thought I was doing something but then in reflection it was just a bit of a box tick that I I didn't actually have an impact on what I was thinking on my mental processes of how I was going about things so I was doing this this trigger and saying it to myself but it wasn't actually doing anything so through exploring it a little bit more um I'd kind of found a way to connect to it a bit more and um for me it's my feet cuz as I feel like um my game um is centered a lot around adjustment and quick feet and being able to from contest to contest and I know that if I'm sharp in that space and sharp with my cont with my um my patterns it gives me the best chance to get to more contest and be ready to explode out contest and um for me instead of just saying feet to myself I now connect to my feet I feel I kind of powder them on the ground and connect to that which gets me in the moment present you're kind of connecting to the moment and then I think about I kind of give myself a bit of a Grace to feel this way like I know that I'm feeling a little bit off task at moment anxious a little bit nervous I've been beaten in a contest by Marcus bonson P that's okay like everyone's going to feel this this bit of anxiousness so it's okay to feel this way but I don't have to let it affect the way my actions and what I'm going to do in the next contest so just having that kind of deep breath moment of like all right it's okay to feel this way but I don't need to let it affect my actions then just allows you to kind of just distance yourself from that feeling and understand that it's not it's not me it's just the way I'm feeling at the moment and I don't need to let it affect me and then I go right what's important now and that's for me if it's at a stoppage or a center bounce it's like right my physicality in the footy so I go I make a hit I do my physicality do my body work and then I just react to the footy and and those kind of processes now at the start were a little bit clunky and you kind of trying to embed them but now I don't really think about that too much and I kind of just get to it and just kind of happens happens itself and that's probably the main one on field that I've done but there's been a lot during the week in a lead up to the game around um like what I was speaking about before around just not putting too much pressure on yourself in the game around outcomes and disposals and stuff and just kind of more embracing the process of it and going all right I know what I'm going to bring to this game I know what it's going to look like what it's going to feel like I don't know how many touches I'm going to have but that's okay the rest will look after itself and that kind of helps me feel not as nervous I was a very nervous kind of anxious person leading up to games and that took a fair bit out of that which is great and there's a lot of other things just around um connecting to my competence rather than confidence and he speaks about that a lot this the sports s that I work with and um it's if you were to ride the confidence wave and uh only play well when you're high in confidence yeah you're probably playing well every 3 or four weeks and and if you really commit to your competence and what you're actually able to do and and not lying to yourself around it but being really honest and open with yourself and really digging into that and understanding all right I'm capable of this I'm going to commit to this um you're a lot able to kind of commit to an actual real version of what you're able to do on your your confidence levels rather than riding that wave of confidence so they're they're kind of main ones but there's yeah a lot of little things to go into it well a 2-year-old would uh be very you know be very impressive two-year-old but I thought you broke that down beautifully I only said two-year-old so You' do that that was very impressive and um there's no wonder you're all Australian last year you know you're slid on the bench there but and I'm saying you've taken your game to another Le level you know what I mean it's like the level's already that high so uh it's just it's really fascinating to know that this is a third party thing that you've SE and you've uh you've worked on and I know when we used to play it was always like confidence you know just get into action kind of thing but gez confidence is nice it's nice when you're doing probably both but you're right you can't be leaning on confidence you know especially when you're on the road like Foo is every second week it's just hostile um and you can lose confidence so quickly like it can be a moment like you can get beaten in a contest and you just your confidence shot well I think about you you're a very good footballer but what about a b that's you know as an outside player the ball don't pop out there that much so you miss a couple kicks confidence can go low you can start thinking [ __ ] that sub vest is that sub vest is that that's what Creeps in your mind when you're not playing well so it's this is really good what you just said I think a lot of people will take away from that and I really felt that quick feet thing CU it does it's it takes your mind away what you talk about talking about um Neil Dano last week and he just said if you think you know you think you're struggling just go help someone and all of a sudden you stop thinking about yourself so I think about that if you're feeling of you know those negative Vibes and then on the footy field you're thinking okay stop thinking about my confidence and think about okay quick feet what I got to do contest contest Body Work bang and all of a sudden the balls probably touched your hands twice and you've got the clearance so it's good male for especially midfielders and no doubt if you're a fort or back they would have different kind of triggers and whatnot um it's very impressive stuff mate it really is let's talk a little bit more about um the locker room we've got some questions we really appreciate everyone uh that writes in I I I love giving everyone a chance to write a question look there's always some silly ones that I've filtered through you know I've grown up a little bit mate I can't be asking you too many silly ones but there's some very funny ones in there um but uh pemma 246 actually asked some crackers uh which one of your teammates do you look up to the most oh I'll give you a couple um what F's done and his ability to kind of have have such a high achieving career is incredible um and that's I look up to that for sure but what he uh his processes and ability to kind of have routines and and get the best out of his body and mind and just himself in general is something I really look up to and and I think also the way he's dealt with adversity over the last four or five years since I've been at the foot Club he's had a lot of injuries and his ability is to keep going deal with the criticism X soon there's a lot of stuff in the media written about F Fe a champion and and that's it's understandable he deals with that but seeing him kind of have a really good impact this year has been great and then Andy is another one for a different reason I think um I mentioned it at the best and fairest last year but what he was able to do in 2022 as a 50y year player as a young player that I kind of felt as like we did a lot of work together and training together and really close but as a young player sometimes you don't know what you're capable of until you see it and for him as a young player to do what he did and being AFL MVP in his fifth year as a 23y old gave me so much confidence that it's like all right it can be done like as a young player you don't need to wait till you're 26 to have an impact in the league so for him to kind of pave that way and show me that it was possible it's that's something that I I really appreciated and and learn a lot from well said mate what was your most favorite memory playing footy ever from P 246 once again um it's interesting because we're playing doggies this week but that final against the W and Bulldogs um first first final AFL final ad opt us and we had 6 55 60,000 all pretty much all Freo fans loud down by 40 points at the start of the second quarter to come back and win that that was incredible yeah that was in the crowd was so loud it was it was heav and you just play on emotions you V like you I reckon the fans have never been angrier and never been happy within 2 hours like I remember I was sitting on the bench at one sage and kick the their seventh or something in around we had kicked one and I'm looking around and then we missed one and like the it was just getting tense and you could feel it and they just wanted something to cheer about and then once we kicked I think we kicked the last three or four of the second and that took some energy into half time and then from there it was yeah it was all she wrote It's amazing I haven't got a question I'll get another question off in a second but just on the crowd like let's just give our F give the fans a little bit of a plug but how for anyone that doesn't know what it's like to be a free man or footballer and play at Opus um mental how you describe the crowd they're uh the for way of numbers wise like compared to like what they actually the sound they produce is incredible like I know and an opus is is a stadium that's built for that and the you feel the crowd on top here and it's so intimidating for opposition like you speak to kind of the guys you're playing against like oh [ __ ] it's loud and you're like yeah blood and like they and they turn up week in week out obviously our way crowds low because um like inate team a long way away and that's why our average cre of tendences are kind of down on other teams but like if you look at home Crea attendances like we're we're up there like in the in the top half a dozen I think and like they they turn up week and week out and they're so loud and and the passion like you walk around the street to fro M like when we're in the finals that that time like that's why I don't want to get back there so badly cuz man they were so pumped and well they've been well I could say they've probably been starved of a grand final win they had we you know I remember the success there for a bit but um I I'll just never forget when we I think it was the prelim I was the sub and I remember getting in the car with shaie Mack and and SAU and they're like oh you want to cuz the emergencies like you want to go down a fre and have a look and we drove down you know like where Benny's is down the main drag cuz we just beat Sydney like and we're in the granny like we couldn't get the car through the main strip for about half an hour and then I think sha said oh boys cuz we were in our Freo kit they're like you probably want to hide cuz if they do think that there's Freo players coming or they might start jumping on the car and I just remember go wow and then we saw videos of the granny week so so that that Granny week that photo and video like that that just like motivates me to get there motivates us like we speak about it often like how good is it going to be like and you want to be the first as well I mean it'd be the second it be nice as well but being the first of a club especially a special as Freo like I mean I think about myself the Giants and fr like when I got the Fleck I'm like well got another chance to maybe be a part of the first but didn't work out but to be to anyone that's in the position like you boys are to be the first to be it would be crazy and and it and it can be it can be done this year like literally can be done this year there's only 22 that can 22 players that can ever say that were first of the football club and we got that opportunity and and that's why yeah it's extremely motivating to to get there is it how many you guys actually talk about a bit internally uh little like just just casual conversations about like being the first like yeah it's there there's been a few kind of quotes around the walls I think Andy brashaw uh put a few quotes around the walls at times just about first 22 will be Immortals like that's that's crazy like to think about that so for us that's that's the end goal and and that's where a lot of us everyone wants to get to um from the top down and we're setting ourselves up for that but we understand that it's product of what you do week in week out so we've uh we've got a lot of process in place to be able to get there and that's our Focus love it no it's good it's uh be exciting Mickey coronis I think here nine one block you'd love to take to the square I'm going to add a little bit of uh my own M on this but no teammates I want someone from the other someone from another team one block you just love to take to the square for five minutes and just go head to head um oh I'd love to take my brother Jo he's a Aw take I'd take him straight to the square he's got a bit more he on you doesn't he he does he does but I'd just I reckon mentally I'd get him I'd get him mentally I'd just backyard operation well we played against each other last year and that was an incredible experience like last round of the year and playing against him on the mcj was sick and I remember he was running back towards goal he's on J Amos I think and J's ticking back towards goal and I'm I'm there I'm I'll block I'll block for go going to L one up to bump him and block him and he's just sticking his elbow up and just giving me a massive dead arm and you [ __ ] B but um yeah it was H it was a great experience but yeah I canot take him down we me and H on out Asis Premiership countdown potty we were saying for the mai Brothers we you reckon if your brothers you can't get reported you that's fair like would you love to just run up and just stiff like what you've done in the backyard like if you were to do half of that out in the field you're getting a week if your brothers it shouldn't count yeah I can go for it CU it's I think your parents can handle it yeah yeah it's a it's a domestic it's not a it's not a family it's a family issue not an AFL operation at all I'd be flat if I got suspended for punch and J or something yeah that's it um I love that uh here we got Eli gladman love your work Caleb from a pies man who did you support growing up and who was your favorite player it's a great question um I was a Sydney supporter so the Bloods um I was uh when I was about 6 five or six I was uh kind of 06 was when I first started watching footy um and yeah that were going well they uh they made a granny they lost the W that was5 yeah so I don't remember that I was bit young I was four I think at that point but when I was five 06 and um yeah I just first started watching footy and just was following whoever won and uh Sydney won a few games and I stuck with him and from there I was I was very happy that I was very successful team and was able to win a fair few games as a kid but um they're kind of players I always had Adam goods and Brett Kirk on my back um those two 31 and 37 were that's mad were great but then yeah Gary J from another team he was my favorite player growing up someone's doing this at the moment they're trying to rank the top five because it's as we record this podcast guys it's um Dusty's 300 this week and the Freo playing the dogs but who is the best player of all time in your opinion great question I I think Gary in my opinion is unbelievable Junior yeah and I don't I didn't watch obviously you way car last 10 15 this generation like Gary what he was able to do and now like thinking about it and reflecting on what he did at go coast and the amount of kids he was playing with and getting tagged every week you knew if you shut guys down like you're going to win the game like he was the only one's going to be able to beat you early days at go coast and to be able to deal with that and have young guys that probably didn't know at that point how to support him as a get a player getting tagged like he was just throwing the team on his back and doing what he did so that's that's incredible in my opinion but I've also seen some clips of Dusty this week and that's uh he's done some crazy stuff too yeah it's a bit sad Smith's like he's crazy a lot of goats slowly not not going to be in the league well yeah as we SW Lance Franklin as well gone but yeah well said man um James Everett here we've got who's your favorite past player from Foo can't be the train obviously uh he's put in Brackets but it definitely wouldn't have been me who who's your favorite pass player from Freo uh and it could be for different reasons yeah I'll give you a couple if you want I got I got two I got two of my like pav what what what super pav did for the footy club and to be Australian Center half back and an Australian Center half forward pretty crazy like back and forward think he's in the Midfield as well yeah Midfield he was just he's incredible and and um like he he comes around the club a bit now and his leadership and yeah what he did for the club he's just such popping up is to the club a bit every now and then he'll come through and like obviously pregame he he presented some Cooper Simpson with his 29 earlier this year um and vosy with his jumper like both those guys kind of debuted together so he presented those two and um yeah he's just got an Aur about him doesn't he and and I think the other one is uh shy Mack his uh his passion like he's come and spoken at the club a few times since I've been there and as always ends up with a little tear or something just like you can just feel the passion he has know you see the the clips of him running back with the flight and getting cleaned up and then standing up and kicking a set shot from 40 out it's like far he would have been seeing stars and just like inspirational the stuff he's done and the passion he has for the footy Club so yeah those two I love that and shie um he love that too yeah he would love that he might even clip that up we'll probably clip it up and send it to Nova he'll love that he's just a and he's a funny man when I first got there he used to we used to like he just rolling and be doing gym I would never knew what his role was I like this like he still the like the most yeah just a legend he' be out in the track training come on mate let's go I see him just rolling around his you these days just he's the best and so his P I love that mate there's so many you could have picked best banter at the club and why and which Foo player chirps the most during games from the real OE chirs the most during game probably would be clarky Jordan Clark y or Luke Ryan one of those two um and they will go Toe to Toe like ly does go hard don't he like the big fell gets sloppy rig out and throws it around he's that strong isn't he watch him like look he's ragd doll on a lot of BS here he's the first one in if anyone gets pushed around but if and if anyone's starting to lip up to him like he just like just like and in a in a very like smart ass great way um and Clarky's yeah Clark's good on the lip as well but best ban at the club actually I hold that with clarky cuz this happened early I just just triggered my mind what was the game that we got we got well I can say it we got robbed by the when he when it was touched did clarky actually swear it himself or I well so I don't I don't I wasn't I was already back in the center circle cuz I was to go back but um yeah I think so that's what he he said and and I trust him like he and he he's very hard on himself so he would have 100% like did as well yeah you those BLS that luy Neil used to do it we played table tennis and he would swear and call him his own name like [ __ ] H Loy switch on is one does a lot you know what I mean there's always a few Vlogs that actually call themselves their own name and and tell themselves off shout out to Neil Rasmus he does that there you go [ __ ] Neil it's the boy thing it's the funniest thing ever but Neil's such an old name don't you like the like no disrespect to Neil's out there but I feel like Neil is I just think of old people yeah and he's he's a good looking good looking rooster so yeah he won't be happy that's great and yeah so Clark the chest Clark is good yeah and he's um him and I kind of go Toe to Toe of a little bit on field at each other sometimes like he's always there for like the feedback options and stuff sometimes say if I surge it like here we go mate then I'll go back at him and and we don't really kind of take a backward step but it's great like switch the Vault yeah exactly but it's uh we always laugh about it afterwards that's great flagman or 2022 has written in if you could bring back any Prime player to play for Freo right now who would it be prime player maybe with the with the side you got now who would you like to just slot in in their Prime that's not there anymore um from Freo Prime Freo I think that's the question I'd imagine it is flag mantle 2022 give us give us bar back just just Prime Bar use inside just like you could play anywhere you could play you play in the wing you could play inside you could play half back he's a freak isn't he he's uh yeah he's still playing I'm seeing him play games at Seymour he loves it he loves it uh we love asking I guess what their biggest clanger is and their Amy clanger that is you know mine we you know everyone knows mine so I'm just looking for someone that one down yet no I haven't I don't think I think I need to get Sur on the podcast and I need just just need to talk I need to talk with him and maybe scyp in a your sport s just break down all this kind of stuff just let let go let yeah let it go I need you to win a flag actually cuz then all these Freo fans will just get off me still oh man they don't get into you but they still remind you know when you get the mess just as I've moved on it hurts it hurts Man actually the longer you're out of the game the more cuz you can never repair it so you've got the opportunity to you know to get the flag um what is your Amy clanger I've uh I've got a little bit of a different one it's usually it's the the kick inside 45 or something like that but there was a few couple years ago I was a derby Western Derby and you know how big they are and the crowd gets into it and the players get into it there a bit of always bit of scuffle and whatnot and Andy was getting getting tagged this day and we had a big Focus G that we knew Andy was going to get tagged and um we like all right we'll stand up for him we got to we got to make take a stand like we're not going to get pushed around anymore we got to stand up for Andy and um we're at a stoppage and there was a bit of pushing shove and it uh it kind of got a little bit more serious and and uh I gave away a free kick for dropping someone I think Liam Ryan came in or something and I bumped him got him high and gave away a free kick and then I wasn't super happy so gave the Umpire a little bit of the serve and then gave him another serve and and another and ended up being 100 or 150 M penalty the triple the triple and uh that was an away Derby and the crowd was giving it to me it was embarrassing like my jump was one you be if you clipped it up my jumper rip jumper ripped on the shoulder and we ended up winning the game thankfully and and we got on top but that was embarrassing halfway through the first quarter scores were close and I'm just like walking back to the middle now I've given 50 m penalty away just for opening my mouth so from there I learn a lot and try to keep my mouth shut now but that is good that was embarrassing that is a clanger 150 M penalty or whatever it was few dice rolls at the club on FS day oh that's good the boys would have actually enjoyed the win in a few dice roll a lot to the kitty what told I love the dice roll concept I don't think we had it when I was at foo we had something similar at the Giants yeah and I remember one of them was you had to sing a song for a minute in front of the boys or Don a serious bit of cash we've got that one still do you have that still there no one's no one's actually sung it everyone actually sing spy sung for like 60 seconds I'm pretty sure it was spy I don't know but like we're all in tears it was like almost we're almost going to just tip in even more just to hear him do it again good one for us is we have lunch every main training session get upstairs at the club and um what you got to do is you've got to pick a partner pick someone and you got to carry a table downstairs out to the middle of the oval and you got take your lunch out there and you got to sit out there with one-onone just eating in the middle of the foot the oval which isun is so good and everyone can see down as well and where do you put it right in the center circle in the center circle where the Rocks go but um yeah I reckon there be fans out there that would love to join you while you're getting punished you could actually monetize that for the footy trip yeah cash bit cash in bece what's on the do what else is on there uh shaved head or a lot of cash a lot of cash and no one shaved their head will bro is trying to get away with a little fade as a shaved head he's kidding himself yeah shave there's a couple of good ones they just like $100 worth of like deodorant and body wash and stuff for the shs Griff log brought that in a couple years ago y just yeah loan them up that's smart um but they get rotated through they're pretty good Cory Wagner and uh Jordan Clark are on that they uh that's good their role yeah I love that I love that and footy trip still not a thing no there's a little crew to kind of do things here and there but it's uh it's not an organized thing anyway Tri wouldn't Ryan doesn't miss he doesn't miss he's great for that that is so good next time you get that dice just roll it you should film it I Reon people love it because it's just I don't I think that's what I personally miss a lot I miss the like if you get giving away a 50 you win you know no one's angry when you win so then that's the week you could probably film The fools are 50 bucks like so how do they work so what do you get punished for out in the full and 50 m what about what about kicking more points than than goals no there there's not kind of but there's a lot of uh there's a lot of just little ones like if you do something stupid around the club or something like and anything on the socials like if you oh yeah it's like um if you had a a car kind of social media go up with dogger like L um ly Jackson Alex Pierce that's bit of promotion stuff yeah just pay it to the boys like so yeah that I mean if that was the case back when Fai was winning Brown L we would have been a to fund out yeah yeah a few well he doesn't like Mousie but we few other boys do tabs is a big fan of mous loves his little little pregame catchy now mate we uh make sure I mean you've been awesome for us you've supported reck from the uh from the get-go and I know you um yeah you've rocked a few pair so I've got a new pair for you today I've got you this Soho black uh for jumping on the potty mate so they are yours um they are back in stock as well so how good's that I've also got you a hat um the team sent me a hat and got these this is for you and the misses congratulations as well just got on the knee how good is that this is for your luggage so when you travel uh we got these little um Ricks tags and whatnot so for your passport and for your luggage as well in case your luggage gets lost but um great I got the uh the Soho ones the Soho cherries but yeah that's why we changed up the color the Soho black perfect fresh in stock Derby day you'd be going to Derby Day wouldn't you I don't know I'm not a huge huge horse like racing don't have to watch the races ever just been on the rails and just no I haven't been haven't there every every Saturday he F back yeah yeah it's a great day dby they all black um but the reason uh we give you the sunnies for this one is Rick's on tour so I want to know this is just for the boys but I want to know where in the world you would take the Ries with you the Soho blacks there um for a week the do said you can have a week after the season and uh and who are your two teammates you taken with you get a free trip all right uh I'm I'm getting into my wine at the moment I love my wine so probably somewhere in Italy or or France I'll go Italy just cuz food as well Pizza Pasta and I'll take take two of my better mates at the club I'll take will Brody for if you ever met will Brody love will yeah I actually I believe I got him the deal he can car that're on the piss at Bly pad and I called Wallie up and said mate come on he was a resident at the Bly pad he's a first round pick get him get him to Freo so will would pack four pairs of white linen pants and four white linen shirts I reckon that's always we in in Italy for the for the week and uh so him um and Andy brw that'll be a that would be a good good weaker Andy on the as we said Andy on the piece would be great value yeah and he'll be sring his wine around thinking he knows what he's talking about and he's got no idea so yeah those two Royal Melbourne kind of set up that is that is a elate mate that is a late well like uh you know if you want want to look like the great man here head to rick.com and get yourself some sunnies they're the Soho black all the Soho blacks Browns smokes and cherries have all been restocked I believe so use the discount code Aces if you're listening and you get a 20% discount code on the house and free express shipping and there's a few other things there as well mate take them off as we conclude thank you for that I um I saw last year you know we love uh American sport here as American aces are you a big NBA and fan or both massive NFL as a result of fantasy I love hearing that and the reason I ask you that is I I noticed a group of you were at D in inside the Dallas Cowboys HQ last year with Jerry Jones the main man talk to me how that happens yeah that was it was a bit of bit of chance like we were on a bit of a trip for a couple of weeks with uh JL the coach he took us over and it was a lot of kind of learning and and personal development around a few different teams so we we kind of went to the sa New Orleans Saints um Dallas Mavericks the New Orleans Pelicans LSU like a few few different teams and had some incredible access with some people there and then yeah we went to the Cowboys and obviously we spent such a big um franchise and and play so it was a bit more of a tour and we're kind of gone through and seeing inside what they do and everything and then as we were uh walking through the cafeteria Jerry Jones walks past with with his uh his side man and uh he stopped and had a chat and he was uh happy to speak for about 15 minutes and we're able to ask him a few questions and whatnot and um yeah what he's been able to do for that that franchise he's made a ridiculous amount of money he's just monetized everything and turned it into an incredible business so um yeah asked a few questions of him but get a photo was pretty cool the photo was sick what did you just ask him can you share anything that or the coolest question that was asked and answer yeah we'll just kind of we're talking a little bit about what they do um like behind the scenes and and how CU obviously there's broadcast deals all this different stuff and what they do to essentially make money and how they make profits off different things and whatnot and um he was just incredible for all the behind the scenes stuff he does cuz he pretty much makes money off anything these days he's got his own own channels that the games are played on and everything like that but um yeah we we kind of ask him a little bit at the town like Jerry's Jerry's world or whatever it's called and he's just built around the stadium and around that training facility he's got bars he's got restaurants everything he's built all that just from from himself so it was uh it was pretty crazy yeah I've actually been there I got a good mate JK who is the CEO of the kind of um of the Esports company that's aligned with the Cowboys and Jerry Jones is a big investor in there so I've actually been in Dallas and I've also been in the precinct that you're talking about never got to go to a home game because they they were playing I think they played the divisional and Conference Final I think they were on the road for both of them but we went to Jerry Jones's bar he's got like a bar as well well did you oh M it's yeah it's I think you can only get in there if you're like my JK I was just plus one as you are um but it was just sleek and I remember looking over the training facility and hey they're America's team that is like that is as big as it gets that's why I wanted to ask you and the stadiums it's an experience like you're walking in it's crazy like the whole Indoor Stadium the the everything before the game it's yeah it's incredible it's so good did you buy any jerseys and all that yeah got a got a Saints one a Chris one man no I'm not I'm a I'm a Carolina pan Jerry Jones won't be happy with that oh Panthers will be all right this year I reckon they'll get going well they need it new head coach apparently the head coach if you look at his numbers all quarterbacks under him he HED Baker last year and obviously Baker's had a bit of a struggle for a few years so hopefully he can help Bryce but like the weapons we had last year like Bryce wasn't set up to succeed um so Haven Deontay Johnson and Legette come in now as well Xavier Legette like as a young fell I think uh I think the offense be a little bit better but yeah having CJ St I like I like your knowledge we might have to get you into the O American Aces I don't think I don't think we've got a Freeman or player in there we had Griff log but he left he's a ruse now we might have to get you in to represent the wa the state no we've my shout out to my good mate Fraser Phillips who got me into the NFL and how good is it yeah we got a fantasy comp now with both maai boys Harry runs the show um a few few mates from because those boys are from orgo obviously and um yeah it's a it's a pretty pretty good it's called naffy league so we're we're a bunch of called the mugs I think my schoolmates one and obviously you got about three or four how many leagues you wi just the one just the one we've got a one and it's a keeper League now so Dynasty so we've uh we had a draft a couple years ago and if you stuffed up the draft you would want Darren Waller cuz he's just retired so if you've kept well you wouldn't be keeping him yet but yeah um no that's great it's it's only around the corner and uh yeah a lot of people that are listening right now that are Freer fans that don't like NFL are probably saying Tommy stop talking NFL and talk AFL but we're at the end of the podcast and uh mate I can't thank you enough for coming on obviously big game tomorrow against the doggies but we'll keep it kind of Evergreen and classic all the best for the rest of the season and individually you're doing some amazing things as you know but um yeah let's let's bring home the uh silverware that first flag would be uh incredible uh and like you know like Andy said you'd be immortal so it' be pretty exciting stuff but um to everyone else thank you so much for tuning
