teacher talking Sports what it does what it do How We Living the Houston Astros got off to a miserable start this season there was a point that they were double digit games behind the Seattle Mariners fast forward to now they have a 4 and a half game lead over the Mariners in the AL West they have just 19 games remaining 77 and 66 so been performing much better and that's even with Kyle Tucker being out for quite some time another guy who was out for quite some time is legendary starting pitcher Justin Verlander of course he'll be a first ballot Hall of Famer when the time comes but 41 years old now and has been struggling since coming back this was last night Arizona Diamond well yesterday I don't think it was during night uh 12 to six winners over the Astros uh we look at Verlander stats three Innings eight hits a walk eight earned runs didn't strike out a batter two homers both of them given up uh to paven Smith who had a threeome run game his eay is now 5.30 on this season uh we take a look at his recent game log via his baseball reference page uh we see that you know that terrible outing last yesterday uh the start before four and 2/3 eight hits four walks five runs five innings four runs seven hits in a walk uh his first outing in after a twomon plus absence five innings two runs decent okay uh but again just really struggling since coming off the I and uh actually as a negative war on the season negative zero point War Corner baseball reference of course uh you know the guy's had an outstanding career um you know people were saying maybe he could become the last guy to win 300 games we know starting pitchers uh go less and less thus uh face the get the decision less often than they used to uh but 40 win shy not looking good for him there uh we take a look at their pitching roster because I'm wondering if the Astros would even consider starting him in a postseason game uh of course framber Valdez will likely get the ball in game one if everything lines up like it should we got Blanco we got Hunter Brown uh likely would be the top three arag Getti has pitched a lot better of late although um not really someone I'm not sure they could rely on he's a guy who walks uh nearly half a batter per inning but you uh Kikuchi uh you say Kikuchi who they got from the Toronto Blue Jays uh we see in seven starts 3.07 eay a lot of people thought they might have given up too much 53 strikeouts in 41 Innings less than a one whip so you figure Kikuchi Brown Valdez and Blanca uh would definitely be guys who would be in the rotation right now over Justin Verlander one of the legendary pitchers of this era so do you think Justin Verlander will get the ball to start a game for the Astros once they reach the postseason which it's looking like they will it's not guaranteed yet do you think they'll even have them as a part of the roster I think they would um you know utilize them out of the bullpen maybe an inning or two uh if a starter can't go long but uh it's been a real struggle for Justin Verlander since exiting the ilil uh doesn't have much time to get it together again just 19 games remaining on the season so might only have three starts maybe four left on the year anyhow don't forget subscribe tell friend tell friend tell friend subscribe like the video share the video hit the bell for notifications I'm out
