first practice with pads out of the way how do you feel like everything went today oh it was awesome yeah it was awesome guys had really good energy um and yeah get the pads on um haven't had a spring practice in pads in in a little while so um fun to see and a lot of work to do but it was awesome how's the scheme installation going for you it's good I mean I think the guys were working really hard um trying to pick everything up and ask a lot of good questions and try and Lear try and learn in and out to the defense um I really appreciate how person but are you getting any just see noticing any Trends with these guys and seeing what kind of a personality maybe this team went uh I think it's pretty early to tell like what the team personality is going to be but I mean definitely getting comfortable with the guys and learning the guys and stuff like that but uh to say now like what what the team is going to look like is a long way away that been ad few going from the NL back to the college level just dealing with kids instead of men yes yes it has what's what's been maybe the Bigg I know you talked about FaceTiming with recruits but as far as the guys in the building here what's been the biggest adjustment you think um honestly like in the building is has been has been pretty smooth you know I'm just uh in there dealing with the guys talking about football um and doing what I love to do and what they came here for Zack Derpy was supposed to be a really good part of this defense last year super promising athlete of like that didn't get to play for offensive reasons what have you seen from him so far this spring is maybe what is expect to be the top the table yeah I mean it's a long way to go but I think he's doing a great job working hard um taking the coaching just just like everybody else is on what was that sorry what was that moment like with having your dad shot at practice here in your job versus him being the head coach and you being the under oh no yeah it's cool no I'm glad he got to come out here um you know I looked look up to him um in so many different areas uh but uh to have him out here to lean on him is it's been awesome with a new defense being installed with young guys what's the hardest part about coaching these young guys right now what's most difficult to get across um I don't really look at it as like hard um there's like a couple challenges but this is I'm I'm a football coach and I love to coach football and so um teaching these guys is has been awesome how hard is this defense that you're trying to install hopefully not that hard I got to be a good coach that's my job to teach it but you've said the scheme is kind of dependent on what the guys here can do handle all that have I mean are you able to say what the base scheme is in terms of personnel do you look at it that way no not really just kind of you know you obviously have to put something in so that we can go out here and practicing and run around and do stuff but we're still working through a lot of stuff is there one position group that's kind of caught your eye in this first three practices where they've been ahead of the other groups or other positions no not really said he needs another four five offensive you def I always take good players always real need for it or good oh yeah no I don't know needs and wants I always want good players I don't know I don't know what we need and what we're do I want play we got plenty here too what's been your impression of Carson berer a linebacker OB didn't get to start as much last season it seems like he's going to be a key guy this spr this season yeah he's done a great job just like like I was saying same question about um thy I think all these guys are doing an awesome job and um keep getting to know them and uh yeah excited to to keep pushing forward is there anything specific with the linebackers that they have to do in your defense in terms of like to it's like to make it go uh tackle tackle a good one that job
