description wherever you are listening uh but that aside we are live f following uh inner Miami's 4-1 thrashing of the Chicago Fire uh pretty stressfree match but um how's how's everybody feeling tonight feel like we should have won by more I thought the first half it started a little weird but then they picked it up and and I feel like we should have scored another one or two goals in that first half man we we dominated that match completely from start to finish like you said I wasn't worried I don't think any of us were very worried the whole time we saw finally wearing a Houston this not a Houston Jersey this is canes come on now um yeah so so we saw we saw Frey start finally they made the right choice there and we saw Martinez dominate again on defense we saw buett play very well at Center back tonight um overall great performance man defense continues to light it up last few match has been all defense again all defense and and uh L Suarez at P to yeah Ian fry got the start because happy birthday Ian fry today is Ian Fry's birthday and of course he was awarded with with the start if it wasn't his birthday we probably would have seen Noah Allen out there get the start so good thing it was his birthday getting that start in over over over Allen while Toto has his red card uh like his timeout uh and yeah I mean it was really really fun watching the ball movement in the first half and also seeing that equate to goalscoring chances that end in the back of the net so the first goal we would have liked to see it be not a know goal but we'll take those and then we we were this close to seeing Suarez with the hattick and yeah he gets to chip away at that at that lead that that's in front of him for that Golden Boot and a 4-1 win over a team that we should put away is something that you want to see you want to see us bury lesser opponents and and yeah I mean the defense in this one was great I know we gave up a late goal that I placed solely on the shoulders of compana for for being dispossessed deep in the attacking third um but other than that I thought the defense was was playing really really well D David Martinez maybe had the best match the best game that I've seen him play since he's joined us I know he's had some good games already but in this match in particular it felt like all the all the possessions just died at his feet which is great and brigh as well another really really good good performance by um by yanc brgh so this is the type of stuff that we want to keep seeing I feel like we said that last match that Martinez had his best game which is awesome awesome po trajectory take that yep how can you blame comp for losing the ball in the attacking third when then the rest of the play happened all the way back everybody was so excited to score everybody's like oh here comes another one and then no it was a bad pass by by Gomez but we can discuss it more and and not to meant not to like forget at the end right when the right when the match was ending C just completely blundered the a wide open kamasi in the middle of the just a not scared person to score you know he he was right in front of the goal he just just said nah mine hit the defender but anyways we're not going to talk about all the bad stuff because not much bad stuff to be quite honest it was a very Leisure just happy watch you know just kick back just enjoy you know and that's what I felt like all day has it just been like that all day for me today and man just so happy you know like how who I don't know am am I the only one here I mean no this is great analysis it's four 41 just knocked them out of the knocked them out of the stadium just get out of here yeah I so Dave said that we started out flat-footed in our Discord chat which by the way we have a link to our Discord server in the uh description and I think from like the 15 minute 15th minute on we were completely on the front foot we dominated most of the game except for maybe when suarz came off and we allowed the goal that Chicago scored I think outside of that we did such a good job at beating the press and our offense just looked silky like it looked so smooth there were so many uh moves where it was just OneTouch passing and it looked so intentional it looked so straight from the practice pitch almost it it seemed like we really knew what we were doing and I got to say I really have enjoyed the last couple games with the the three at the back did did data finally find the right Personnel to put in the right spot to do three in the back second second match right that that he does it and it looks smooth mans really nice the two the two athletic center backs flanking flanking buett the only difference here is you didn't get the egregious mistake from a from a center back putting yourself in a bad position yes Ian fry picked up a yellow but it was the most innocuous yellow card that we've seen probably given to a center back in in the two years that we've had these guys um you take it whatever like like I said as long as you have two fast guys well two fast guys in comparatively speaking to to buetts it makes up for his lack of speed and then bu's intelligence you've seen it even when he's one-on-one with with players he just he he can stone wall guys just from from being in the right spot there's one that he was on the Baseline and he went down to the ground and he just came away dispossessed the ball like it was no problem like this is it I think I think that dat finally has because he's he's been trying to get this formation going for two years so he finally has the right pieces it looks like to to get this formation going and we're seeing it on the other end being able to produce goals with this formation behind it cuz it's it's always been one or the other it's either been we're producing goals and we're not defending well or we're defending well we're not producing goals so it looks like we finally have that balance with the formation that he's honestly wanted to deploy from day one and to just to build on your point about buett being flanked by two more athletic Defenders when busy is in close quarters not a lot of space where where someone could burn him he is great man his intelligence takes over his his just his skill and his his knowledge of the game takes over and the def and the attackers can't get around him when he's in that close quarters when he's in open space when there's area around him to get burned he may get burned but when he's in that box when he's when he knows exactly where he's positioned and he has the sidelines to work with and all of that man the attacker is not getting around him and he did it multiple times tonight multiple times and and when when you were talking about earlier guys about the the offense I was free flowing I felt that I absolutely felt that I felt like we were just in sync that it did feel like a practice out there like they were not at all being felt like we we when we're and I don't know if I'm gonna be honest when we play like this I don't know how many teams can actually beat us because the the way that we're playing we're not playing selfishly at all and that's and that is something that when you look at other other MLS teams I feel like that's something you notice you know they don't play that Tik Daka move the ball around trying to get people to the right spot in with a with a perfect with a perfect goal just every we weren't forcing anything today we we were taking whatever they were giving us and it really didn't seem hard at all which is which is crazy considering that like you know we're inter Miami people normally step up for us right so I would like to assume that people knew like Hey we're playing against Suarez uh Jordi Alba and and busy and and gang so we should probably like step it up but man I don't think they can I don't think they have a choice they just have to sit there and take it and take it they did uh 51% 5050 balls we won it uh that seems to be the story line all the time now with with when you have the Rondo brght Gomez um uh gang out there uh then you put in we were 67% and tackles one I mean that like we're we're we're really dominating on on defense just I think it it's not only that booy is Manning the back and telling everyone to stay in place maybe how many you know like we're not getting caught from behind it's funny he's he's not fast how we we were always worried about if booy's back there we're going to get exploited because he's not fast I haven't seen that I think it's like like Chris was saying he's just he's he's an intelligent guy he knows where to be and he's always at the right place at the right time it helps that he's playing Center back fulltime because when he was playing middle and dropping back into the center back role that transition is where he can get caught off and when you're getting beat in transition that's that's more of a hazard for him but being in that full-time Center back role he's not he's not facilitating in the Midfield as much if at all so he's really just letting the field letting the play come to him it's a little bit different than than when he's in the Midfield and pushing back to Center back so I think that's helped too yeah and he he's able to pick up such good positions there was one play where it was like an actual Sprint of the ball that it was a play in behind but he kept in front of the defender really well and and beat the defender to the ball so I think it sort of like what Dave is saying he's able to pick up positions much better because he's in defense already rather than having to track back from Midfield so I think overall such a good game and like you were mentioning some of the stats Jose like winning the 50/50s winning some of these uh tackle percentages just the ability of the individual uh players to to be that sort of aggressive and successful with it we talk about like Gomez buset brgh all three of those players had specific moments in this match where they had a great one-on-one tackle that led directly to something positive on the other end so all those things are such good indicators and we have to add that Chicago is not a very good team so while we looked this good and we have the ability to look this good against any team in my opinion but it was against Chicago so we do have to state that no no we're gonna we're gonna do this to everyone team I don't care it's already INE it's inevit we are inevitable look what we did to Cincinnati they were the big dogs before that's it did you see did you see what Cincinnati did tonight I don't care I don't care what they do I'm curious the last I checked they were up like four1 I don't care I don't a little bit I'm curious what did they do they beat Montreal four to one I don't care I thought I was going to Carr but I actually didn't care they could if they would have beat him like 10 to one be like wow that's a lot of goals I don't care you know what I care about right now honestly now now this is for fun how far is Elo from from getting the Golden Boot that is my focus at this point because we got this we got the sh there you go that's all I care about because right now we got this the support shield in the bag we're going to March through the playoffs Messi's just taking a vacation right now he's in he's in he's in foro just uh you know just chilling on a hammock just waiting just waiting around now there he just they're putting him in now sparingly we're good guys we're good this is he's he's one off um Salt Lake is playing now Chicho is still not playing um and DC played tonight and bentek didn't score so he's one off beautiful I wish that that that first shot he the own goal was was an actual goal that would have been perfect yeah it would have been good that that first one it the the angle of the camera made it look so odd I thought it bounced off to the side and I was like so disappointed but then I realized that it actually went in I was like oh all right we take those one thing that I I saw um well I didn't want to talk about that one not yet we'll get to that when M go um The Possession battle we we were 50% today you know like and this is is it's true like our style of play is completely changed and and like we are we've noticed it obviously we've noticed it already the last uh just during the stretch in general we've and we've talked about it before uh shoes where we we're not necessarily a possession team anymore at all right and it's and I don't know if it's because we've transitioned from uh from that when we had Messi and now it's just a different loc or we're just trying to beat people to the ball and just counter and uh and just high pressure I mean it that seems to work in itself I I I wonder if we start to try and transition to more possession when we get messy and and like almost mix a little bit of it in you know what I mean I don't know yeah I don't know I it's funny this that ties into Miguel's next thing about about how we would look with Messi we've talked about that before I think it only gets better once Messi once Messi comes on it's just what you're seeing now just more potent more more dangerous basically and and I think that the style doesn't really change as much um I think that we'll still we'll still press like we've seen with even Suarez Suarez not he's he's not he doesn't have the the longest legs out there but he'll he'll press at times and I think we'll see that from Messi as well we we'll get the short burst pressing from them up front and then everybody else still still really really hyper active in the Midfield um and then it's funny if this match yeah it ended 50-50 possession but it felt like for the majority of the match we we dominated the ball and we we were basically dictating the the pace of the game it's just those first 15 minutes and then what seemed like when all the subs started happening the last the last 15 minutes were a little a little sloppy and that's probably were were they caught up with some of that possession but it felt like the majority of this match we we dominated the ball CLE things why I think sorry a couple other things why I think when Messi comes back why I think we're going to be perfectly fine one is we're not getting beat we're not getting beat up by the Press right now we're we're handling the Press like Champs um it's the addition of David Martinez that is great at passing the ball from the back it's the addition of busy as a center back who's obviously great at passing the ball and dealing with with that press and then our midfielders are just amazing against the Press Fondo Gomez um they could all take on the Press without any issue I think that when Messi was here we weren't doing very good with um so that's number one and um number two the turnovers we're not getting those ugly turnovers from our back backline we haven't really gotten any of those in a pretty long time um so when Messi comes back in hopefully that keeps up as well so I mean Messi playing his style of football plus all of these little changes little additions I think we're just going to take off even more and and they mentioned uh you mentioned uh booy and the and the Midfield um it leads me to man of the match leas of the match were were you guys uh what are your man of the matches Suarez Suarez easy okay you want to change it up David I mean I he got a yellow card he got a yellow card yeah but he had two goals and he and he forced the own goal so I believe it has to be Suarez running away 8.6 yeah he he got it it's obvious all well it's not so obvious uh busy had an 8.0 he had he had a great game he had a great yeah he had a great game uh least least of the match that's the one that's probably more interesting you're gonna you're gonna all right gresle who who do you think Julio least of the match I'm gonna say fr that's d That's what I was going to say I was going to say Frey but I'll change it up for for the sake of of argument over here yeah I don't want I don't want to pick on him on his birthday so he literally likes our post you know what I'm gonna say I'm gonna say cello just because I didn't notice him that's a good thing I'm gonna be honest with you uh it was Frey 6.3 happy birthday not not so happy birthday Ian Frey you had a terrible game um graded on a curve it's way worse than everybody else I mean tell um yeah and then uh we keep mentioning brgh we keep mentioning David Martinez uh 7.3 for both of them I didn't really see anything from him today that's it 7.3 grle I don't know gle's score but I mean I mentioned it in the in the Discord earlier you look gle's just he has a chance to to score like every game and it's just like very pathetic finishing attempts 6.7 grle yeah I think the chance that he had was pretty tricky it it's the one that he had to like toe tap right I I don't I don't hold that against him he but I feel like he did the least amount that he possibly could have done like he just tapped it right at the keeper like do something else I I don't hold it against them you don't hold anything I think this grle slowness was on display I think lack of athleticism Julio guys an apologist Dave Julio Julio's in the keys he's just very LZ fair today that's right okay that's right Beach I mean I'm gonna tell you right now we we just we just put uh you know belt to butt today so I'm not even going to get mad at anybody I mean it is what it is four to one the canes dominate the gate I mean you know just Good Vibes out here you know show show the shirt again Chris need to there you go that's it um I put up a comment saying uh it says if if itav is mean Toto he would have been the only player with two Reds in the game um brings up my next question is there any sort of or or actually we spoke about last episode that Center back was very thin and we couldn't read uh penalize Toto too much or you know just put him in the dogghouse for a little bit um but after tonight's performance with e FR I know they don't like to start in fre too much do your does your opinion change do you think doto kind of just gets a little penitencia or or not really I still think that they internally like doto way more than Ian fry remember they they spent money they spent money bringing in Doo as opposed to to Ian fry who's homegrown so they they they do prize him a little bit more right now um also like Frey is coming off those major injuries so they they're not sure how much they can depend on him game in and game out so they are being cautious with him and I understand it but yeah I mean from what we've seen like Ian fry has been more consistent game in and game out but again very small sample size too so we do have to take that into account and and I can't fault them too much for for continuing to rely on Toto as much as they can like as long as they're they're smart with taking him out then then I'm okay with it I'll jump in because Jose muted but Toto I think is a better Center back he he Los like his lack of awareness is the frustrating thing but he is a good Center back otherwise and I think more what we're clamoring for is Frey over cello and while I think I think Frey did a good job at Center back back he didn't do anything spectacular not that I expect anything spectacular from any of our center backs but I I would much rather see Frey over cello than Frey over Toto I think Toto brings a lot as Center back frustrating as he may be yeah I I I agree uh Toto for sure is in my opinion better than in E FR I just don't like that like he he's yeah he's unconscious like just con constantly just delivering yellows for us you know it's it's it's annoying it's it's getting to point it's just annoying it's it's like uh but that but that's also shoes put it today that we picked up five yellows today like it wasn't even a hard game like it wasn't even a high tension game I I don't understand like okay one thing is like like like one of them was kind of TIY attack in my opinion there was one that Hondo got I believe that I was like phas yellow I think was was NE like it was it was it was just a soft call yeah path yeah it was stopping a breakaway I think that was pretty clear I think that was on purpose too it's not like he just happened to be in the way no that one was smart that one was smart he stopped a breakway that's fine but I'm talk I'm talking about like there's some that are bonehead that we see and we're like why or or or like today like Lis Suarez at the end like just dude just you just had a you just had a brace and I mean in my personal record book he had a hatti he had a hatrick today that's my personal record book it's not his fault the guy the guy is dumb enough to be us as a backboard not my fault he literally got got it in there from his from his boot to to the back of the net I don't care how he got there it could it could have ping pong and hit every single person on the team they still going thanks to Louis Suarez however um yeah just just get just hop off just just get out of there and and have a you know have some mate right that's that's what they like to have on the side is that is that what it is mate I think so a little cup yeah I just wanted us to not respond just just let him I know I know that's what it is I just water there I don't know if you guys have had it I don't like it you get a little grass in your tee great so any who's your I don't know I don't know where to go with that Jose Chang so there was so so in the buildup to the match there were some uh news injury reports that came out uh we had Matias roas picked up a ankle sprain of some kind uh we don't know how long he's going to be out but he will be unavailable for the short-term future presumably and then CJ dos Santos had a hand surgery or an operation on his hand also not sure on a timeline for his return and then earlier in the week before the preview or we discussed in the preview that um Leo Alonso will be unavailable for a few weeks due to a sports hernia so um those were a couple just housekeeping things in the buildup to the match one more um we didn't discuss it in our last episode either uh we did disc discussed that Messi went back into training but it looks like in that last that one training that he did with the team that he kind of was seen like grasping at his at his ankle a little bit testing it and then walking off and then doing like work on the side as opposed to the team drills so it's something to watch again uh hopefully it's nothing I know they're not rushing him back anyways but it's just something to keep an eye on yeah his first real training back so you expect it to be maybe a little sore a little just not ready to go so I'm not too worried about that one I'm fine with it just let him let him get 100% we don't need him right now we're we only have what eight games left or maybe seven now after today I think seven don't rush it I would love if we could smooth them in somehow like just you know little Subs here and there for for a few games and then test him out you know once he's ready because we're we're rolling man we're rolling just T just sprinkle him in Little T Tata Tinker uh but I I love this formation I love the the vibe on the team this this is uh this good stuff and I Chris said man just he's he's only gonna add he's only goingon to add and I and I like today gresle was like whatever like I I I don't know you imagine just putting Messi in just grle going to be fabulous he putting him in gresle okay okay settle down settle down so yeah the next couple matches um it's interesting so we have uh Philadelphia at home then we travel to Atlanta and then travel to New York City nycfc and then we host Charlotte go to Columbus go to Toronto and host New England at home I wonder if depending on how Messi comes along if they Circle the inner Miami versus Charlotte match at home as like his reintroduction then he'll be available for the away fixture at Columbus at Toronto and then home for New England but I wonder I wonder if that factors in if they bring him back at home or if they bring him back away or if it's just when he's ready we're gonna give him minutes I guess we'll find out in the coming weeks I feel like it'll be a home game I don't know why I just I think it's just easier overall for it feels like the right thing to do right little a little fan service yeah they can send an email out with Messi's picture on it welcome home all that stuff you know just like last time when they did like Messi is back I've never seen that outside of that one instance and then he was gone a week later yeah basically so uh around the League what else happened I know we talked about Cincinnati they um nothing lacked Montreal pretty good nothing of significance Salt Lake is is winning you know in the supporter Shield run Salt Lake's winning there LA Galaxy plays tomorrow Columbus beat nycfc yeah yeah would have been nice the other way around but whatever but we're still man we're still up there it would have been nice for Cincinnati to lose but we're still eight points ahead of them um who does Galaxy play tomorrow St Louis not not a great team so kind of expect the three points for them there so not not much has changed I think since last week we're still up there eight points ahead and just gotta hope for some luck you said lafc is losing currently LFC is oh losing yeah against Houston it's rough dyn man they'll get you they'll get you they'll get you must be playing right back huh they keep scoring on you know on that left side keeps happening yeah if we if we just keep winning our matches we're we're gonna it'll sort itself out that's that's that's you know what that that's int that's that's incredible incred incredible analysis it doesn't matter it doesn't matter what anybody does guys guys I got it if we just keep winning yeah we don't have to look at we don't I me if if we go through if we go through there's two matches that you would like seriously be like I could see it go either way because there are way fixtures against good teams it's the match against nycfc in New York and the match against Columbus Crew in Columbus those are the two that you could say okay those are going to be really tricky fixtures the other ones we have to expect to win every single one of them so the supporter Shield really it it's going to come down to those two matches potentially assuming everyone else can keep pace but we're obviously in a very good position right now we just need them to fall a few times that that that'll really uh like once that'll really just get us to you know just enough cushion to like not even worry about it really if any of these teams stumble like one more time it's pretty much over like that's how much of a lead we have at this late stage in the season yeah it's still it's still mindboggling to me that we've done this without Messi for two and a half months or whatever it's been I mean no one no one would have expected this no one would have said it would have happened look at those stupid chances Cincinnati you need Messi you need Messi it's incredible well they hung around so long in that first stretch of the Season Cincinnati did that when we went into the Copa Meda break it was so it was such an easy argument to be made that when mess with Messi leaving with Suarez leaving who was going to fill the void I mean at that point they had like 25 goal contributions between themselves at least so it was such an easy again like such an easy argument to be made that Miami was gonna fall off and and just lose the lead in Cincinnati with the way they were playing we're just going to run out so far ahead it was going to be hard to catch them but then we just kept winning and since he kept losing and it just worked out so well for us that you know here we are and I I think that I think that that race that that competition is is done and dusted this this is a great question by Carlos you guys think that we that we have a shot at the at the record five more wins five more wins we play we play like tonight oh yeah I just did this Jose all right Philadelphia Atlanta yeah Charlotte New England that's very yeah I think we I think we have a chance to to get up there I don't see why why not with given how we're playing um barring any unforeseen injuries obviously I think we're playing well enough that we can do that and there's a good mix of Home fixtures there there's a couple tricky away fixtures like even Toronto away is kind of tricky but they don't scare me you know they we lost them over there right or was that Montreal yeah I think that Montreal beat us yeah when we went over there it's a long it's a long plane right over there but come on what are you talking about here you know I don't know anymore so the next uh the next match is actually two weeks away we get a a short little break here it's an international break if I'm not mistaken um uh a an MLs observed International break which is uh unusual to say the least but uh next match will be against Philadelphia Union on the 14th of September so get a little bit of a break here and then we'll be back in action and then I think it's just a Sprint for the home home stretch so um hopefully we'll be able to get a couple people back healthy uh we should by then have some or we should have a clear view of like a timeline of return for some of the players that are out and hopefully we'll we'll know more specifically on Messi um when he's expected to return because we are expecting him to come back before the end end of the season and that is quickly approaching now uh shes I I um it's an interesting question uh does anybody that we so if if if we were to say that if one person gets injured from our team would that stop us from winning like like today like just in general um I would say what's holding us all together like with the glue in my my opinion I I I've always liked the Alba attack I I feel like he is playing at a at a position where we don't have really someone that can just fall in after him I guess neg but neg what neg has in defense he does not have an offense and every time that this has happened I feel like we've grown very stagnant so that's my opinion I feel like Alba is the Irreplaceable guy on our team as it is right now I'm gonna I'm actually going to say Suarez I don't have the confidence that kanana could do what SW has done the last two matches um uh I although I do want to agree with you Shu that Martinez and brgh are are are what's holding this team together right now on defense um but we could defend all we want but if we can't score if our Striker is not going to score then what else are we going to do you know yeah we've seen our midfielders score uh multiple times when kanana has been out there but I don't think that's um very reliable or I don't think we can keep that up so I I would have to say Suarez right now yeah I agree I mean it's if assuming Messi's not on the pitch right just the the team as it is right now right losing losing Suarez would hurt more than anybody but Martinez is an interesting choice I know we we we had to deal with so much of the Season without Martinez that it's it's kind of hard to to make h him be that invaluable player that we can't lose right now we've we've seen it with Suarez that when he's not on there the the attacking third is just toothless at times and and it stinks because kanana you know has the has the capability of really being able to to drain some some goals but for one reason or another it's just it just hasn't clicked for him this season and and and yeah that's why it has to be SCE yeah well the question says do we have anybody that we can absolutely absolutely not lose to injury to keep our streak going and I don't think we have anybody that we can there's not like if we lose a player we're gonna fall off the face of the earth I think all like I think Suarez Alba if we lose buett like all those things obviously knock us down a rung but in my opinion we are so deep at every position because I was thinking while you guys were talking I think buett and and how we've been able to move him back but like okay let's say buset get gets injured you still have like such a good mix of players that you can put in there whether it be at Midfield or defense that it like we would survive it would be okay um I think SARS would have the greatest like drop off because Gana has been really just not good all season and yeah I I just don't think there's like a singular player that would make us fall off hard we've survived the loss of Messi for two and a half months if if we survive with that loss which which is surpr which that was surprising to to to me particular I that in itself was surprising well because we hadn't seen this team really do anything without him I mean what was the conversation of how many losses in a row we had without Messi being on the pitch so yeah it was it wasn't it wasn't like a forone conclusion that this team would Thrive without him so yeah being able to seeing I mean it's it's a blessing in disgu that being able to watch this team really develop without him gives us more confidence that we can survive any any person any one person really really falling off the face of the Earth but luckily knock on wood we haven't had to deal with any major injuries outside of the center back position which they seem to be dropping like flies but um we we seem to be okay and we're only going to get healthier with uh with Messi coming back if thought the if dat gets hurt and he's not playing on you know if he's not if he's not on the pitch coaching that's probably that probably fall off how about that how about that I don't think we're gonna have to cross that bridge Irreplaceable that in Forever Mike Mike angry Mike must be so angry right now how dare you Jose that in the Hall of Fame all right on that note no that's we have a match in two weeks all folks we have a match in two two weeks so we'll uh we'll be back in in a week and a half to do a preview for that for that game I'm sorry um against Philadelphia so until then thank you to
