e e e e e e e e e e e good morning Household of Faith let's give the Lord a hand clap of Praise He's Worthy on this Lord's day amen amen young people are back in school the parents are rejoicing they've got some uh quiet time in the home if they're at home but again they don't stay at school they don't spend the night at school they have to come home don't they for those who are not in college and Beyond well we praise God and thank God for this Lord's day we want to uh certainly give thanks to him as uh we prepare to celebrate Labor Day on tomorrow and uh we thank praise God uh for the ability uh to Labor uh to earn resources so that we indeed can provide for our daily need Paul said that man should what work so that you can have something to share with one another and at this day and time there's a struggle there are young people who don't care to work but if one does not work they do not get to eat and we're seeing what's happening that if they do not work they find other means to uh have access uh to resources sometimes that put us in Jeopardy but nonetheless we still we going to thank God for the ability the power for us uh to work and to acquire the things that he would have us to have our praise and worship text comes from Psalm 147 this morning the text reads praise the Lord how good it is to sing praises to our God how pleasant and fitting to pray PR him he heals the Brokenhearted and binds up their wounds he determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name great is our Lord and mighty in power his understanding has no limit Praise Him the Lord sustains The Humble but he cast The Wicked to the ground sing to the Lord Lord with grateful praise make music to our guard on the heart he covers the sky with clouds he supplies the Earth with rain and makes grass grow on the Hills he provides food for the cattle and for the young Ravens when they call his pleasure is not in the strength of the horse nor his Delight in the legs of the warrior the Lord Delight in those who fear Him who put their hope in his unfailing love brothers and sisters let us extol the Lord Let Us Praise the god of our Zion bless His holy name Eternal God we come before you this morning and we acknowledge that praise truly is due you we pray your blessings upon our time of worship we pray your anointing upon the instruments of the voices of our singers and we're grateful father for the instrument of the drum to help keep beat but in spite of our musician being out today we bring him before you and pray that you'll touch his body but I pray that Lord even though he is out there's still that desire in our hearts to render you our full our best praise that we can offer you so we pray for your anointing right now upon these Services glorify yourself in and through all of us as we come before you we do thank you for truly you give us the power to get wealth the power to work and to earn the resources we need to provide for ourselves we pray that you'll continue to bless us to be good stewards and what you entrust to us we thank you for being called out of Darkness into your Marvelous Light we thank you that the times are dark but those who know you we walk in the light even in the midst of Earthly darkness and so we thank you you certainly provide a light for our our Pathways and because of that our feet will not be moved we continue to ask your blessings upon uh the nation as we find ourselves in the midst of another election but we would say to you that you are our God we put our faith we put our hope in you and in you alone your will be done and we can't tell you how to govern but we know that you are the Supreme governor and you will do those things that will honor and glorify you and so we present certainly all these things to you and know that you will glorify yourself you will edify us build us up and supply all of our needs according to your riches in glory in Christ Jesus bless now this time help us to praise you for good for us to be in the house of the Lord on this Lord's day we are indeed grateful to him as the summer comes to an end I guess um tomorrow we celebrating the last summer vacation opportunity and if you have the opportunity to seize that moment I'll take advantage of it but as you come and go make certain that you're mindful as Sister Lisa shared that the co numbers are indeed increasing and um let's be mindful of that we was talking to one of our sisters during the week and she had informed us that she had Co but praise be to God and it's not one of my blood sisters but a member of the body of Christ that I call her name you a Noah um but let's just be mindful going back and forth to the doctor's office going to work out uh certainly no matter where you go be on uh guard keep your mask with you and when you need to put it on it's okay amen amen amen let us love one another I love you I want you to love me but I don't want what you got amen amen so uh God indeed is good let's just be in prayer for one another one thing I've learned in life that we are quick uh to judge and I guess during the week I had to deal with the Lord uh you know on a particular issue and the Lord is just good and what I came out of the experience in in um I guess realizing was this that God does what he wants to do and we just have to yield to him and what I'm learning I've got to stop judging because I don't know what God is doing in anybody's life you know but he does and so and he surprises us he'll knock our socks off when it comes to really Fring what was going on and we just have to uh go back to God and say Lord I Repent uh have mercy on me you God and it's to you that your servant stands a fall and so again let us be mindful of that uh because we know we live at a time where that we are dealing with significant division among indonation and that is uh true for the body of Christ but the Ser say how good it is for the people of God to dwell together in a spirit of unity and so let us allow the spirit to fill us that we might bring glory to God by walking in love with one another at this time we're going to invite the young people to come so that we can dismiss them to children church amen amen young people comeing to children's church amen amen amen if you're fifth grade and under you can come but if you don't pass the fifth grade y'all got to sit in here and listen to Pastor amen amen but let him come let him come and experience it come on come on come on experience come on you you may be able to help them teach them something down there we want you to get exposed come on big man come on don't be shy amen look at there look at there look at there look at there God is good isn't he yeah give thanks all right I'll hurry up let us pray father we love you we praise you and we thank you for this Lord's day thank you for this time of Celebration this time of celebrating our children Lord by ministering to them from your word thank you for the hearts that you have given our teachers to love our young people bless now their time we commend them to your care anoint uh then we pray and we ask this in Christ's name amen amen amen and we've got some high schoolers stepping up and wanting to be a part of that and uh that's exciting that is exciting amen amen God is good ex me it's always good to have a fall back plan when technology won't work amen amen amen I get there yall pray say help them Lord they he heard your prayer he heard your prayer amen amen but this morning I'm going to certainly share with you from God's word and again a message that I am going to repeat there are some messages that uh I repeat um probably every two or three years because they're very important very significant one of the messages has to do with Matthew 6:33 reminding us to always seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things what will be added to us and so today we are going to consider another message from the word of God turn with me to the Gospel of John chapter 6 Gospel of John chapter 6en John chapter 6 beginning at the 22nd verse the next day the crowd that had stayed on the opposite shore of the lake realized that only one boat had been there that Jesus had not entered it with his disciples but that they had gone away alone then some boats from tiberious landed near the plates where the people had eaten the bread after the Lord had given thanks once the crowd realized that neither Jesus nor his disciples were there they got into the boats and went to capernum in search of Jesus when they found him on the other side of the lake they asked him whereby when did you get here Jesus answered verely very truly I tell you you are looking for me not because you saw the signs I performed but because you ate the Loaves and had your feeld do not work for the food that spoils but for food that endures to eternal life which the son of man will give of you for on him God the father has placed his seal of the the word of the Living God father we do praise you we bless you and we thank you for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ thank you for who he is to us he's savior but not only is he savior but he's supplier he is also sustainer glory be to you thank you for loving us bless us now encourage our hearts help us to remember that we are greatly beloved of you and we thank you for this in Jesus name amen I want to U speak to you from the portion why Seek You Jesus you all are present here today but why have you come to worship today why why Seek You Jesus and I will submit to you that this is an essential question that must be pondered Often by all who would seek Jesus why do I seek the Lord a lot is in our lives but what's the true reason that we are seeking the Lord the answer to this question reveals the depth of one's spiritual understanding it's about the spirit and not necessarily about the flesh or the natural things that we contend with many have knowledge of spiritual truth but lack spiritual understanding knowledge is one thing but understanding is all together different that's why Paul would pray that the Lord would give us a spirit of wisdom and understanding so that we may what know him better why Seek You Jesus why do you pray to him why do you read his word why do you worship Him and why do you serve him ponder that question ask yourself why do I seek Jesus these verses contain an I am of Christ where he declares himself to be the bread of life one of the many I AMS but he wanted the people to know that he was the bread of life and he is speaking of a different bread than we generally tend to go to the grocery store and purchase it's a spiritual bread uh that he is making reference to this discourse follows the Epic event of feeding the 5000 the miracle reminds us that Jesus is able to stretch any resources we may have to meet our needs no matter how Frugal your resources are he's able to stretch them so that our needs will be met we we we get a little anxious at time but when we learn to trust the Lord the Lord knows how to multiply that which we do have so learn how to put things in the Master's hands afterwards they attempted to make him King having blessed them having provided daily food they wanted a king somebody to look out for them to provide their daily substenance but Christ did not come to just provide them with physical bread there was a spiritual bread that they needed and we need that today we need the spiritual bread so that when our physical bread is running a little short we don't have to fear we know the Lord will provide by and by and I and there are those of us who are among us today who know the Lord has done that when it appeared our bread our money was running low we still made it through why because the Lord saw us through during those times yes they attempted to make him king after rejecting their attempt Jesus Departed the area walking on water to meet his disciples on the lake what an event walking on water he was letting us know that there are uh really the laws that we are subject to but there is no law that he is not subject to he who what made all laws established all laws is above them my brothers and sisters able to walk on water to his disciples and while he was walking they thought it was the ghost but he said do not be afraid it is I I am the Lord your God who is coming to you and and you know the story when Peter saw that Peter said Lord let me come to you Peter was a Peter was always wanting to try out something new and I said to you don't be scared to trust the Lord to try the things that you believe he would want you to experience Peter stepped out of the boat beginning began to what walk on water and as the storm be became boisterous he became afraid and began to sink but as long as his eyes was on the master he was able to walk on water and and and it's like that for us that when we're going through different things in our lives and the Lord say uh come to me and and we step out in faith and begin to come to him but it appears things are getting a little worse and we take our eyes off of him and when we do that we begin to sink uh in our anxiety in our troubles forgetting that who it was who asked us to trust him and to come to him but as Peter begin to sink Peter said Lord save me and even when when you have missed the mark and fail to trust him still know that there's a way out all you have to do is say Lord save me when you say that you're acknowledging Lord I have failed you I didn't trust you but I still believe that you can save me and the Lord reached out to Peter now from the text it doesn't say that the Lord reached down and picked Peter up and put him back in the boat how did he get back in the boat he had to do what he had to walk on water again once the Lord reached out and tou he had the capacity to walk on water to get back to the boat so kind of look at that and see uh how the Lord can impact your life that when you have missed tomorrow stay encouraged when we begin to look at it we wonder Lord we're about to drown in this situation but the Lord want us to know as long as he is with you you will not drown just reach out your hand and he will take your hand and he will bring you out of that situation amen so you ought to be praising him right now because he's done that he's done that for all of us and he's truly worthy to be prayed now I'm not supposed to be uh preaching about Peter walking on the water amen uh but still we need to be encouraged by that after joining them in the boat they crossed over to uh Janessa the next day the people came seeking him seeking Jesus is a good thing it is the thing that God commands and Mankind needs most of all we are to be seeking the Lord we're in trouble today we're in trouble today because we have not been seeking the Lord the way we should have and all of us can attest to that and agree Lord we have fallen short we we we try we we're committed to it we desire to do it but again but so many things tend to distract us and compete with us seeking the Lord but again pray ask God to help help you to seek him to be faithful to be consistent in seeking him and it doesn't have to be that I I I got to seek Him for 30 minutes at a time just walking just living life every day Lord as I move right here I'm seeking you I'm Desiring you I I know my mind May Wonder but but my desire is you above all things God knows our hearts he knows our hearts and then and if we are sincere he will still come to us he still with Grace Us Praise His Name seek means to search him out when things get bad and you can't call M and dad you can't call your neighbor who you going to call not Ghostbuster but you going to call Jesus amen you need to know who to call you in trouble out here who are you going to call you better call Jesus he does hear and anwers prayer we are told in scripture to seek the Lord while he Mak be found call on him while he is near Isaiah 556 we just finished going through that particular chapter in 2 Chronicles 7:14 the prophet wrote seek the Lord while he may be found that's going back to Isaiah but in uh 2 Chronicles he says if my people who are called by my name would humble themselves and pray and seek my face see you got to humble yourself it's a little embarrassing when you have messed up uh and you don't want anybody to know but guess what you can't hide it from the Lord because he already knows where you are he already knows that you have missed the mark and so we just have to Humble ourselves and go to him and say Lord forgive me like a child we have to go to him and know that when we go to him he certainly will forgive us he will assist us and bless us and then the Hebrew writer would say God is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him we have to make that our business we have to be faithful that we are seeking the Lord I wish we could seek Him 24/7 but in our spirit we can but we still need to make a commitment on on a daily basis that we're spending some time with the Lord we're spending some time seeking the Lord I I I I I I I'm excited about what God is doing because again for me personally and I'm supposed to be pastor and preacher but I still have responsibilities in life and I look forward when I have the time to just be able to come apart to sit in my favorite seat and just hang out with the Lord It's a blessing it's a joy it's a great delight and what happens is when I sit in his presence when I come apart he gives me peace and he lets me know everything is going to be all right because at the end of the day who has it God has it all God has it all and and and I'm going to preach a sermon on this coming up and it has to do with the fact that God is always at work I say he is always at work you I can't be all at work all the time but God is at work all the time he neither sleeps nor Slumbers or we wish we had that kind of power ability but he doesn't we don't he said he gives us what his rest he gives us rest brother so that while we're sleeping he's keeping the city while we are struggling he helps us build the house we have to learn to rely on the power of God seeking Jesus is a good thing but why do you seek him I told the story about uh Franklin Roosevelt during the Great Depression how he came up with the New Deal and one of the most important programs of the new deal was Social Security and right now we're praising and thanking God for Social Security if you haven't retired yet you better pray that Social Security will be around Hallelujah for those of us who have retired and we uh uh go to the mailbox we don't go to the mailbox anymore we just check our bank account we have direct deposit praise be to God don't have to worry about somebody coming to my mailbox and take him a check out young folk y'all need to be uh mindful that Social Security may not be available to you and so now you need to be seeking the Lord and he needs to be giving you wisdom and a spirit of stewardship and discipline so that you can provide for your retirement but those of us who are retired oh man we're praising God Social Security was established to provide supplemental income for retirees disabled persons widows and orphans what a deal the people in our story saw Jesus as a new deal as well and he is a new deal amen if you know you ought to be praising him they saw him as one who was able to address their hardships and therefore they sought him when you know where to seek help you need to make certain that you seek him they came seeking social security security for daily living Jesus however was not offering Social Security he was offering something much better much needed and that was spiritual security we need spiritual security because we have to understand this social security has its place its place is temporal it only satisfies the natural spiritual security occupies a loftier grander nobler place in our lives its place is eternal it satisfies both the soul and the flesh Social Security does not necessarily INSP imply spiritual security however spiritual security always and in all instances implies uh social or spiritual security David had it right and on last Sunday Pastor nebor said it well he's 84 he said I've never seen the righteous forsaken nor their seed begging bread you see when you have spiritual security you also have social security amen it may not be that of the new deal but Jesus want to know he has his own New Deal and if you learn to seek him uh your needs will be met every month I say every month as long as it says what seed time and harvest your needs will be met praise be to God I say your knees Mets not your WS amen we've got a lot of WS wants uh but his focus is not on our wants his focus is on our needs and we need to get that figured out what's more important my wants or my needs and we live at a time where people take care of their wants and then can meet their needs and we need to reverse that order because when I know I got my knes SM I may not get what I want but it's good to go home knowing that there's some f food in the pantry something to drink in the refrigerator uh praise be to God I got lights I got air condition I'm rejoicing over there I'm celebrating that I may not have the finest car in the world but when I go home I'm praising God I don't live in my car I use it to get from point A to point B but I do stay in my house I do live at home with glor and it's a joy to be able to know that when I get home everything is going to be all right amen I'm going to have what I need uh to make that house a home all by the power of God and him alone the gospel message of today has the overtones of Social Security more so than spiritual security we want to hear from the poor pit that God is going to provide our daily bread but I mentioned to you earlier Matthew uh 6:33 said put him first and he will provide he will supply those things that we need he Delights in blessing us I like to tell the story I like peanut butter and jelly it's one thing to have some peanut butter oh but it's a blessing to put a little jelly on it makes it sweeter doesn't it oh I can sit down and I can enjoy I get a peanut butter jelly sandwich during the week now I'm not just saying that Glory I tell you I eat my peanut butter and jelly because for nothing that's will suffice I've got something that will sustain me praise be to God the simple things we have to learn to appreciate the simple things in life they bless us the world have us running at all of these other things but to just have our daily bread Supply is a gift from God is a blessing from God because there are a lot of people who do not have their daily need Supply we see them out here we know some we've been in that situ sitation before but our needs were not meant but when the Lord brought us out we committed that we're going to do the right thing and we start off well but we have to understand the flesh we have to understand the Temptation they're great out here they're great but the more the Lord matures you the more he sanctifies us then the more we have the discipline to put things in proper order in proper order major shift has taken place in Christian Theology and Christian thinking whereby the focus has Chang from man serving God to God serving man and the question comes to mind Lord we used it used to be Lord what would you have me to do has been replaced with Lord this is what I would have you to do we have reversed order it's not about being like Saul on the Mas is rooll when the Lord certain me knocked him off his Beast his words with Lord what would you have me to do we're doing the opposite we're now going man we're bold Lord this is and we and people teach this go tell them what you want it's not necessarily about what I want it is Lord what do you want from me your son from me your daughter and if we get that right he will supply all of our needs according to his riches and Glory yes he will yes he will aw TOA writes in his essay man The Dwelling Place of God that popular Christianity has as one of its most effective talking points the idea that God exists to help people to get ahead in this world that's what about I want you to get ahead I'm concerned that you all your needs will be met no I'm concerned that you'll know the master I'm concerned that you will seek him on a daily basis and if you do that he will meet your needs he'll save us from ourselves amen I say he'll save us from ourselves there are times when we wish the Lord would have stepped in and helped us make better decisions amen I'm like when you make a decision and you get down the line you realize it wasn't the best decision and you say to yourself Lord where were you Lord why didn't you check me on that situation he said I he probably would say I was but you were insensitive to the spirit oh I've been hollering but you didn't hear but he really doesn't holler that's that what small still voice and you have to get where it's quiet so that you can hear him speak praise be to God let me push on Amen Jesus dispels this notion this idea in our text under consideration that it's not about getting a head in life we began with the pursuit of Jesus listen to verses 24 and 25 once the crowd realized that neither Jesus nor his disciples were there they got into the boats and went to capernum in search of Jesus when they found him on the other side of the lake they asked Rabbi when did you get here when did you get here Lord we've been looking for you the people were willing to go to Great length to seek Jesus they found boats across the lake not knowing what the weather conditions would be when they arrived on the other side they searched until they found him when they found him it was a moment of great joy they were very complimentary Rabbi which means great one when did you get here they thought they were about to get another meal but he wasn't about giving them another meal but look at the length that they went through to seek Jesus do we not sometimes go through that those great length just trying to get stuff in this world rather than really being committed to the Lord rather than Desiring to be filled with his Spirit to live lives that are pleasing to him to be wise to be disciplined to be consistent in our daily walk we will move mountains to get this stuff and and I've seen where sometimes when we perhaps do not do our best with our resources and we began to ask others for some assistance and if they say no guess what you ain't my friend anymore I thought you were my brother I thought you were my sister but if you don't learn to say no y'all both will be in the same boat amen and if y'all both end up in the sa boat who's going to save you who's going to save you one old preacher Mt King Carter uh tells a story about uh he had a niece wanted some money he was saying she was always talking about she was waiting on her ship to come in and he asking when is your ship coming in and and again she misunderstood what was really the essence of being a Believer and Matt King Carter realized something he said now if I was in need there's no one in my family who could give me $500 and so I had to say this to you it is important to be a good Steward because these do come up and it has and they and they come up not because you have what misuse your resources it just happened but it's good to have something to to help somebody else through a difficult time it's a blessing to be able to be a blessing to somebody else and so when you live life you don't live life consuming everything on yourself man you want to have resources to be a blessing so when the Lord touch your heart when the Lord leads you by the spirit to help somebody else you're are able to help somebody else it's not always about us Paul said look not only on your own things but also on the things of others we have to be concerned about one another because the truth of the matter is is needs are going to come up and if everybody is spending everything they have then we're going to be in a world of hurt amen but if somebody's being spiritually minded praise be to God then praise God you may be blessed you may indeed be helped Jesus certainly in responding uh to their Pursuit answers their question Lord when did you get here speaks of his perceptiveness Jesus answered I tell you the truth you're looking for me and this is where the rber Misa Roe not because you saw miraculous signs but because you ate the Loaves and had your field we're not here worshiping today because we we we know Jesus to be the Son of God to know that Jesus indeed uh birth was incarnate it it was a miraculous birth evidencing that he was the son of God now we'll hear sometime because Lord we got some needs I got to go to church today and and and and and and and do some worshiping because they told me that when Praises go up blessings come down Hallelujah heav we bought into that and so we come oh we going to praise today so that by the time we out the blessings going to start flowing they going to be showed upon us that's not why we come we come to worship and praise him even if we have to live out today and our physical situation has even changed it may be a week down the road it may be a month down the road but what we want to get right we're not praising him for the things he can give us we're praising him because he's God and we just finish singing he's worthy he's worthy of Praise he's worthy of Praise well Pastor isn't credit score they discovered that he didn't have any debt and and and and they would not hire the hir manager said well if you had some debt we probably would have hired you because we understand that as long as you were in debt you will you'll stay there and you'll work the job because you're not in debt you can leave anytime you want and I'm going tell you it's a good feeling to not be so dead
