630 tonight. Arlington police say that they're looking for three teenagers accused of a smash and grab robbery at the Pentagon City Mall. Our John Durant joins us live right now. John, this was originally a call for shots fired at the mall. That's right, Larry. But luckily that isn't the case. Police say that those suspects use hammers and fire extinguishers to break through glass at a jewelry store and then made off with some of the merchandise. Police say the suspects then left the mall on foot and police are still searching for them right now. This is video from inside the mall showing police armed with rifles running over broken glass that's all over the floor. More video shows glass planes and rolex jewelry displays broken and those displays empties. We know the mall was locked down for some time. Some witnesses tell me they were sheltering in stores for over an hour waiting for an all clear from authorities because they didn't know what was going on. I look up and everyone's running inside the 421 and I'm saying, still concerned and then immediately I heard like a pop and I don't wanna say it was a gunshot but it sounded like one. At first we didn't have any service. So we were just sitting there just kind of praying together trying to help everyone calm everyone down. People were crying. People were trying to call their families who were like in other places of the mall. I heard from store employees and some shoppers that say they were sheltering in different stores inside the mall and then those stores were bringing down their gates to lock people in until they got it all all clear from authorities. The mall is also open right now but most of those shoppers are turning around and coming right back outside because most of the stores inside are remaining closed for the day. Larry organized retail crime is a serious issue throughout the metro which is why we're seeing a lot more security around malls and different shopping centers around the area. John Durant. Thank you so much.
