hey what's going on this is your preview of Oregon versus Idaho uh a big top three team versus FCS top three team in their conference sort of matchup I'm Maxwell mington join by Bobby Howard and we're so excited to talk some college football today um so yeah Idaho at Oregon Idaho like I mentioned sort of on a role you know over the last three years since they hired their um new head coach Jason Eek A couple years ago he just got a contracted extension because he's got Idaho um on the on the climb there in the Big Sky Conference um one of the things that is so interesting about um this the two people discussing this and for those of you who are new to our faces um I'm going to give them my to Bobby for a second because uh as an OU fan very familiar with the quarterback now of Oregon Dylan Gabriel and I want to start the conversation here well before I get to that let me say um IAH at Oregon Saturday 7:30 Eastern the line is 43 and a half on mybookie.ag uh in favor of Oregon of course and the over under 62 and a half so interesting spread interesting over under we're going to get get into that later but Bobby uh what can Oregon fans expect from Dylan Gabriel for sure yeah know lots of experience with Dylan Gabriel uh from his time in Oklahoma um a lot of people entered last year thinking he'd go to the draft got a bit of a rough grade and um yeah now he's with the Ducks and honestly what a great fit not just for Oregon but for doing Gabriel uh Gabriel is a solid decision maker really good quarterback um not the biggest arm but if you surround the man with weapons he can be absolutely lethal uh and this Oregon system is just absolutely tailor made for uh for a guy like Dylan Gabriel uh comes through in big moments uh we saw that in Red River last year was absolutely clutch um so I I think I think Oregon fans are going to be very very pleased with Dylan Gabriel not much of a drop off from uh bo Nicks last season uh a little definitely a different quarterback but um but I do think he works well I think duck fans are going to be very very excited to see him and uh you know hey this is this is this is the first game to you know really get your first glance at Dylan Gabriel very very good in openers by the way so um lots lots to be excited about for uh this Oregon Idaho matchup at least in seeing the new look Ducks yeah love to hear that I'm not an Oregon fan folks but I did want to rep organ just in the spirit of doing this preview so I got my Donald Duck orgon shirt in I'm Eugene with the hat so uh just doing this just doing this as like a welcome to us doing Oregon previews and Recaps this year I'm so excited to talk about this team all year um okay so I want to one thing that and there's not a lot of questions about Oregon across the board this is a very talented team uh again ranks number three in the preseason poll big expectations in the Big 10 and I think a lot of people feel like they are ready for Big 10 football in the trenches and with the talent they have and of course the quarterback but the biggest question um still out there is who's going to start at Center and we know that obviously you know they have the quarterback situation handled but Center is a big part of not only the offensive line but having that relationship with the starting quarterback and I think the fact that um Dan Lanning as of recording this video we still don't know who's going to start at Center is a very interesting like hole that hasn't been addressed yet or at least we don't know externally you know what who's who's who it's going to be yeah absolutely it's such a pivotal position across the board um essential as we all know essentially the quarterback of the offensive line um and you know I will say you know starting fresh with the center position while you're also starting fresh with the quarterback role I kind of like that I like that Dylan Gabriel is going to kind of get his own guy uh build that Rapport early and you get that fresh start you know um it it's you know uh like I feel like the relationship we always think about with quarterbacks and centers is peyon Manning and Jeff Saturday and you know just it's one of those things that's a little weird once they once once they split up and you do something else it just doesn't feel right you know putting your hands under a well you know uh so you got to have that good relationship so I'm intrigued to see who Dan Lanning uh out there at Center um and you know if you're a duck fan definitely definitely want it to go good the first time because nothing's worse than trying to establish a repa you know later on in the season absolutely well let's talk about this Idaho team for a second like we said they're expected to do well in the Big Sky Conference they've uh progressively gotten better they last season coming off a nine and4 year they're returning 14 starters um from last year their quarterback speaking of quarterbacks um is Jac Lan he's starting for the first year their quarterback from uh the previous season is starting at Washington State so um you know good for good for him but Idaho is gonna have a new signal caller out there the biggest question for Idaho position wise is who's going to start at receiver because both of their starting receivers from last season went to the NFL so receiver is a big hole for them Dan Lanning in his press conference about this game really highlighted the running game as the strength of this team and really was very complimentary about what they do in the trenches um so I think for if you're Idaho you're thinking all right we need to um quiet this crowd at Alton it's going to be wild it's going to be crazy thankfully you got some players Idaho in Oregon if you know geography folks not that far apart so you have players at on your team that's from that are from Oregon that is going to be excited to play in the environment but you know back to the football aspect of it strategy got to be all right let's run the ball and take the crowd out of this game and play possession a little bit that's the best our best chance of staying in this game against a Powerhouse a Powerhouse like Oregon I I mean absolutely um ball control and time management is is crucial here because this is a game everyone going to this game everyone wearing the orange or orange what am I saying wrong Oregon team I apologize Ducks fans wearing the green and yellow uh expects to completely steamroll uh the vandals here and I don't blame him you know Oregon you know should win by a lot so Idaho what they got to do keep it close keep it shoppy maybe get a big turnover here on offense you know stay steady you know really tick off that defense and you want to hear those murmurs you want to hear the frustrated fans you know being like Oh are we really doing this a freaking Idaho you know playing in the Kibby Dome you what what are we doing over here like I I think there's a way to do it don't get too ambitious you know it turnover is early will get the crowd fired up just find a way to slug through it put doubt in the minds of the duck fans and Duck players um and you know somehow have a chance there because here even though Idaho is an FCS club they're not bad you know they they've they've gotten a couple solid wins you know last year they beat Montana State obviously quite a bit different of a step up in competition here with Oregon but you know the vandals can be feisty and Max keep in mind Idaho was a FBS team a couple years ago they intentionally demoted themselves what of the what of the weirdest things you've ever seen so they've got a little bit of pedigree there yeah I I I think it's fascinating and that's a great Point uh but what's fascinating about this match is because of that Dynamic and because of what Oregon is and they view themselves as this year it's like okay if you're on Oregon or you're Oregon fan you want this to be every bit of like the 43 you know and a half point game that Vegas is expecting you want this to be an absolute blowout you want to be like okay yeah organ is dominating everyone but you know especially this FS school and on the other side with Idaho as you are showing progress and hopefully you're hope you hope you're competing um in your conference and for SCS Championship you you want to show okay yeah we can roll with not only an FBS team but one of the best F FBS teams in the country it it's a really interesting chess match and that really is why I think this line of 43 and a half is so interesting I don't love huge spreads especially um you know against two teams like this because it's like ID has a lot of Pride they're well coached um Dan Lanning is a coach that we know is really good at getting his guys ready for for big games so my best bet is going to be the Idaho covers it's not sexy but I just think like Oregon as much as you want to show dominance I think if Idaho can not necessarily win the battle of the line of scrimmage but like really get like a fight and play clock and keep Oregon keep Dylan Gabriel off the field keep Oregon's offense off the field I think if they play the clock really well they're going to be able to keep this game closer than 43 and a half and now it might be 40 it might be 35 it might be 28 but like 43 is way too big for me I think the the I think Idaho covering this this spread is like a lock pretty much th th look those big numbers can make you nervous but I will say if there is an offense to cover them Oregon's one of them um I I'm trending a little towards the ducks on 43 would never bet it because that's way too big of a number um but my best bet if I had to go with one love the prop of uh if you can get it Dylan Gabriel to score a rushing touchdown um people don't think of him as a russan quarterback and he's kind of he's not a he's not a he's not a burner by any means you know he's not Caleb Williams but what he he does do is he's really good you know in the spread option these little you know these little option he's got these little option things where it'll just kind of sneak in and you know run for a good five 10 yards I could see DG getting in the end zone here uh through through the through the ground so would love to take a look at that if you can get it um over at uh of course over at mybookie.ag uh promo code sleepers um so that's my best bet on that one yeah we and we know that um one interesting wrinkle before we wrap here we know that Dylan Gabriel is the starter there's no question about that I do think this game will be interesting depending on how it goes if you're a fan of all right I want to see how Dante Moore has progressed um and if he has grown and if he's if he potentially looks like a guy that you know can help this team win if called upon this is a great game for that like Dante Moore if Oregon does what they're supposed to do Dante Mo should get some burn here um in in this in this game so one interesting thing to look out for but uh yeah good tuneup game for Oregon obviously uh you know I I think we both feel like organ's gonna gonna handle this uh pretty easily but yeah uh should
