GERMANY: "Oppressive, humid air and new thunderstorms on the way" When the series of storms will end

Let's see what happens next. With me now is meteorologist Alexander Hildebrand. Hello Alex, where are the storms going now? New thunderstorms have already formed again. There was also a first peak yesterday, for example 55 liters per square meter within one hour, measured locally in the Cloppenburg district. The earth can no longer absorb all the water that comes down in such a short time. For this reason, there were severe regional floods. New thunderstorms are now on the way again. Hamburg is currently quite affected. Here you can now see the map of the risk of thunderstorms for today. You see the great danger, we haven't included the extreme danger, but the great danger of thunderstorms exists from the Danish border across Lower Saxony to the middle and then over to the Ore Mountains. Very heavy showers will also form in the south over the next few hours, especially from the Alps. We are in a very warm air mass coming from the Mediterranean. The air is oppressive, humid and humid. Here's a look at what's going to happen in the next few hours. The orange areas mark the strong thunderstorms and showers that will occur this evening and overnight, especially in the north. They will then also push a little bit into the east, but in all likelihood they will not reach Berlin for the time being. In the humid air, strong thunderstorms and rain showers are also forming in the west, and the predicted trouble can also develop from the Alps. The amount of rainfall in some regions could once again be the same as last night, which means that roads could be flooded again. Be careful with underpasses so that you don't drive your car into them. Bring the kids inside as soon as the storms arrive and the sky darkens. You mentioned the hot, humid air. This can even be felt here in Berlin, where the rain has not yet arrived. When will it get cooler again overall? We are actually already past the peak of the heat wave. Yesterday we had temperatures up to 37 degrees, but we will gradually get rid of that now as the temperatures are slowly falling. I've included yesterday's 37 degrees in the 14-day trend, but today we're only expecting up to 34 degrees. This is of course still very hot. At the weekend, temperatures can reach up to 30 degrees in some regions, especially on Saturday. But then there will be a noticeable cooling down: on Sunday it will only be up to 26 degrees, and the following days will most likely be with pleasant, summery temperatures. The hot air will remain in the east and partly in Bavaria until tomorrow, where temperatures of up to 32, 33, 34 degrees are expected again. But then that's it, and it will be significantly cooler and more pleasant, but still summery. You can see it in the top row: sometimes sunshine, sometimes showers. Summer will still have a few good days with us. We're happy about that too. Alexander, thank you. Please.
