NBA 2K25 Xbox Series S Gameplay Review [Optimized]

NBA 2K25 Xbox Series S this is NBA 2K 25 we're here on Xbox series s be sure to like the video subscribing is great as well and this was provided by 2K let's dive in and take a look at this year's well basketball simulation entry which is honestly playing it pretty safe in comparison to previous releases being very similar to what we've had in the past so if you are used to playing on the series s nothing is totally radically different this time around outside of refinements to the overall experience and changes in some of the modes but from a technical standpoint it's very much what we've had over recent years uh for the C's ass and since the current generation of well basically the console gaming has basically had in terms of visuals presentation and everything like that which is not bad cuz it's pretty top tier gameplay wise so you're able to play alone and you play locally was up to four players you can play online up to 10 uh it has the typical options in regards to game playay and a fuller focus on crossplay experiences in terms of multiplayer and the Integrations for multiplayer across the board and it's sort of uh segmented into a bunch of different uh game modes and sections which we'll be diving into as we talk about this from a review standpoint so first off from a graphical technical Point uh it's 1080p 60 FPS there's h HTR support uh looks good plays fine uh it is visually you know decent whatnot uh but obviously it is 1080p but if you are playing on the series S I think you very much likely used to the visual Fidelity as a target for sport for sports games cuz they all seem to be doing you know the 108 the 60 FPS at least is fluid and looks fine and plays relatively quite well which is well again I guess somewhat expected since they haven't really completely you know changed the game in terms of the visual presentation outside of like you know how it like kind of does the whole like intermission siges and stuff like that you know between segments kind of openings everything like that yeah I think that describes it pretty well oh I thought we were going to make a great move there I was totally wrong on that one I I thought I was setting up something great for a great defensive play I was incorrect I suppose so yeah uh this time around for like little smaller details mechanically uh this game does have a big change up in terms of the brand new or the I guess a little bit furtherly enhanced uh Pro play animations is what they're called so the pro play animations uh there's like 9,000 of them here W really struggling to get the uh the ball in there uh yeah so the the prop play animations the whole point of those is essentially they're replacing the traditionally MOA anim animations with animations that are taken directly from that was terrible directly from actual NBA games so they've taken the footage uh of actual NBA games and they are transferring those movements those real plays as real Styles into the actual game and they're slowly doing this over I imagining this is going to be like a multi-year process in order to do that but they've already got just a massive selection of like 9,000 changes there so the idea there is just translating more natural realistic movements and attitudes and stuff like that into the actual game in order to make it just feel better and more realistic which makes complete sense uh they redid the drimble dribble engine so the dribbling is a little bit more enhanced uh some adjustments to offense defense a little bit of difficulty especially for lower level difficulties I guess in terms of how offense and defense kind of move and react to players uh when you're in the overall like you know MCH and setups that you go and enjoy uh let's dive in and talk about the different uh game modes that are present so basically your same Go game modes as prior I typically am into the quick play which is like play now and that segment is practically unchanged you go in you just set up matches locally or you do online you compete and you get all your different difficulties options and you get to choose okay I'm doing these teams you can do things like uh NBA now which are which is aiming to like capture current ongoing games then there's NBA eras so you can play historical match setups and scenarios and finally there's like the black top which is supposed to be more of a street uh Focus set up or well is a street focused MBA setup in terms of playing you know competitions and stuff which is kind of cool so that's kind of your main structured traditional mode of play at least I think so from a historical standpoint like you know sports games have always had quick play is a big thing and then we got my career so you go through the full Journey from like you know kind of the humble beginnings at school to making your way to the NBA everything kind of in between and then they also have elements such as coming an NBA legend uh you can do the whole big my kind of City thing so all the personalization you know kind of making athlete character going out there doing the big kind of City thing and interacting with people and kind of going through a bustling area and there's all these like weird miname type things and strange Adventures to have it's uh pretty straightforward gam playwise there right like nothing too crazy they just do smaller refinements a little some new adjustments every now and then to smaller little parts of it it's pretty straightforward uh we got my team he build a fantasy team gather your cards nothing too crazy there and and all these modes they have different ways to kind of like compete from like an offline perspective but also like online Integrations and stuff like that across the board uh so yeah every sports game in the modern era I think largely pushed by NBA as well uh has your card based game mode systems you build up your your team with the cards and stuff you like work towards grinding and and buying and stuff and pretty straightforward right card Rarities upgrades all that stuff sure you're pretty much used to it at this point I I certainly know I am across the sports experiences what you sort of getting the different games right and then we've got the uh my MBA just kind of like eras of of things going on so my MBA you build Dynasty uh explore historic eras as well pretty straightforward uh they got learn 2K which is your training mode so you can do some various uh want almost drills but like it's it's practice so that you can get better at playing uh the NBA 2K experience which I think is pretty great for those that are new or want to tailor their abilities we also have the WNBA which is the women's NBA experience so you can do like a career championships type thing play now you know kind of work your way up as a creating a female character and stuff and that's pretty much what we had in previous years as well well and then there's a rotating selection of seasonal content just like any self-respecting live service type game of today which are basically the NBA games right you're going to have yourself a set of Seasons so every season has like a theme every season has like a focus it's an evolving game to keep this large large uh storage size on your hard drive forever and uh you know into the next NBA game when it comes out but yeah the the whole goal of it is to basically make sure that you are coming back and when you are coming back if you take a break or whatnot that there is some sort of fresh content thing that you can work towards something new to kind of do and build on and yeah it's it's kind of just this never ending evolving game of NBA and that's the whole point of the seasons is just to keep offering you something new and fresh to do it's NBA 2K 25 on Xbox series s it's a continued refinement over previous iterations it kind of plays it safe I'd say I mean I saw that on the series X side of things as well they're kind of two degree coasting off of the big you know current gen upgrade that they did a number of years back at this point and then just kind of refining it with like updated rosters and some minor adjustments and some visual things like obviously I'd say the biggest thing we've been getting this gen is a lot more of a detailed element of simulation type things especially in sports games where it's kind of like we're just simulating more natural body movements or more realistic things in terms of like animations and settings and styles that's kind of the big thing and the big draw for the technology we've got here but I don't know what else you really add game mode wise I'm sure some people have little things here or there they'd like to see but it basically is a complete simulation of basketall I struggled to see what they could really specifically add to change things up too much they play is relatively safe but it gets the job done provides something that's pretty fun and engaging to play I think for players that are really into this franchise it's just like whether or not you're going to see anything wildly different or new this year I I don't necessarily think so but still a solid way to experience uh the NBA and basketball in the 2025 season and as we move towards 2026 about a year from now which is crazy thank about at this point I'm just going to leave you with some non- commentary gameplay so you can see some more of in action and get a feel for it on the No Commentary Gameplay us seem ATI blow Kevin happen all the time it's what makes the sport great you can't take any team or game for Grant so a look at our starters for the Knicks colge teammates on the floor Brunson de chenzo Bridges and H and it's rle in C now over following the Miss by Julius Randle from Deep and it's soan missing hson with it and it's Vel picking him up runson the pass to Har that one good for two can't let someone like Hart get inside the D just asking to get burned here's soan good and against the assist when he's hitting that shot this offense becomes scary even more difficult to defend no question when he is connecting from those kind of spots on the floor it is just a huge boost for what they can do offensively Vel and again it's the SPs from deep and what do you expect fromel he's an accurate shter from the perimeter Brunson against Paul here's bridges that one in his first shot this game just can make it so much easier for your teammate when you throw that lead pass that gets to him right on the money whether that's on the run or in the shooting pocket shot by wi Bama no good Knicks have gone two for four from the field so far and talking about the Knicks G do you feel they took a step forward last season I do I mean losing in seven in the conference sem with all the injuries they had really kind of set them back they ended that game seven with the Pacers missing four of their starting five so no doubt expectations will be high Brunson one of those players that's just not going to be denied determined to convert inside and he does and they don't want to get in AIT of giving him open looks from three first quarter still not who you want to leave here's Brunson following the three-pointer by S Anton and it goes out of bounds last Touch by Paul in the latest now from our sideline reporter David Aldridge David it's all yours take it away well Kevin Greg papovich and I talked for a few minutes now we both had the same topic male Bridges and the impact he can have on the game coach told me he's someone we talk about for sure you can't let him out hustle us that's when he does the most damage see if they can match brid's energy guys thank you David first quarter of basketball just over two and 1/2 minutes play San Anton leading by six here's Vel oh good from outside the Knicks have gone four for nine from the field to start this game up Bridges shot good Bridges is down low doing a great job of just pounding the defense makes the shot and we've got a timeout from Greg papovich he's made the decision he wants to huddle up with his guys [Applause] they're about three minutes into this first qu a three from good and Paul gets the assist Paul's got four assists in the game sometimes you watchama and think this guy is a cheat hitting threes at well over s tall now here's Brides he's got seven how about back flying high to send that one down and you know what when you've got the athleticism and explosion of a player like that bigger guys are still at your mercy here's soohan it's rebounded by New York Brunson outside Bridges no one around him three pointers Off the Mark and it's Paul with the ball for the Spurs it's a five-point game trains it from Beyond the AR soam got six points and just beating the open man nice recog there from Brunson against Paul and that's good Jaylen Brunson for three and I like the back and forth here showing Confidence from rign it seems like they're going to find out who can make the deepest threes right now it's a shoot up now here's Brunson Five Points in the game and the call on the shot sends him to the line ah the overall game of Julius Randall is impressive he's gry he is in there giving it Brent his everything yeah Kevin you think about that year where he averaged 24 10 rebounds and six assists I mean the only other guys that did that were Will Chamberlain Robertson Harry bird Russell Westbrook joic jannis all of those guys won MVPs that's a heck of a list first free throw is good you know Greg with a combination of wenyama and Coach Greg papovich the Spurs should be a great defensive team yeah it's hard with a young roster because all five guys have to work in unison and often someone's going to make a mistake the Spurs making a switch here Johnson's checked in oh free throws good from Randy and Brent three very important pieces of this Knicks roster all went to the same college and played on the same team Brunson Hart and dzo what a remarkable reunion it was for those three players but to not only be together it was about the success that they shared in the bigle they all won in 2016 that colleg championship and carrying that hard-nosed approach to the Knicks has been big in terms of paying dividends and here's bares for three connects from three-point range he's got nine well when Harrison Barnes makes shots like that confidence grows he's feeling it teammates are going to start feeding off of that and that's a little lack of fight at the defensive end ah absolutely at least on that Fram you're right that's one way to let a team back in the game you have to credit the aggressiveness offensively because that's when you make a play when you really need it now here's Randall there's the drive the shot no good nice defense by Vel and here's Barnes for three sinks the three-pointer Barnes has got 12 in the game bottom line you need Shooters on your team who can space the floor well there's no doubt he's a legitimate threat from downtown and he's demonstrating that in this game so far both teams scorching the Nets you got to love it yeah made for TV game here pace is great scoring is coming in bunches and both of the teams feeling confident right now Mick Trail by five here's Bridges Bama with a rebound R Bama has got five rebounds tonight pass to Vel for three the shot comes out Harrison bars getting it done for San Antonio that quarter had to take a lot out of him he racked up 12 points we've got more in store for you right after this [Applause] and for those of you just tuning in the second quarter of action is where we're at right now and a moment here to take a look at the scoring breakdown for San Antonio they' look to fire as much as possible from outside the arc and so far they are hitting at a high clip so much good energy in flow tonight and that has really come out a great ball movement guys have been open and as soon as they are they get the ball theel in the wing along with Johnson Harrison Barnes is out there with Victor wenyama and it's Paul in at the one that's the San Antonio five here's W Bama for three good and it's bars picking up the assist 12 points for him and a monster game for ly with the matchup issues creates sure anyone in this league can stop him when he's on and while we've got a moment i' send it over to our terrific reporter David Al David Hey Kevin Greg papovich is guiding a young Spurs team that's hoping to return this franchise to the dominance saw five Titles since 1999 pop said the standards haven't changed be very direct demand be fair and love them they got to know you care about them so it's all the same formula from 25 years ago there
