last night Trump and Tulsa gabard held a town hall in Lacrosse Wisconsin just for context the Democrats flipped Lacrosse County Wisconsin in 2020 Biden won by over 10% in 2016 Trump won the county by 1 point so this is classic swing state territory in Wisconsin so the town hall was uh brief but very poignant last night Trump sits down for the meeting and almost immediately Tulsi goes into her own very emotional IVF story it was unsuccessful but she's talked about being a congresswoman traveling while having to administer the IVF treatments to herself going in for tests this was a story that Tulsi had told before but when she finished Trump said he didn't know he wasn't aware of her situation and then he went right into confirming the IVF policy that he had just kind of rolled out yesterday and at the Michigan rally that he was at right before coming to Wisconsin and saying basically we want more babies and that's kind of his line very much tying the IVs policy into a probab Pro-Am policy and the crowd was very supportive he finished saying either your government's going to pay for your IVF treatments everyone should have access to it or we're going to mandate that insurance cover it and there's just roaring approval from the crowd and um so he rolls out this policy and the just for context for Wisconsin the Democrats have been pushing Reproductive Rights abortion rights in the state of Wisconsin we had an 1849 abortion ban with very few exceptions that went into effect after the do's decision overturned roie Wade and so there was a period of about 18 months where nobody was performing abortions in Wisconsin they got a appeals court to allow abortions again in Wisconsin so they have been going on but especially with Harris at the top of the tipic Democrats have been pushing that very hard and as we saw at the DNC uh the focus for the Democrats is not elective abortions it is the um you know exceptional cases medical emergencies that is what they're pushing along with IVF here so you see the Republicans kind of responding to that I spoke with Congressman Derek van Orton who's in a tight race in a district that cook political report puts as leans Republican but it's still pretty tight his Challenger is a woman Rebecca Cook former political strategist so you see the Republicans responding to a kind of an allout Push by the Democrats and I think this is kind of a nuanced repo approach for them so Congressman Ben Orton told me you know he supports ibf he thinks that people who want to have children should be have access to the technology and he said that this is not a position switch for Trump this is Trump has always supported this um he just very much focused it about being pro- family Pro babies reaching out to a middle to Independence to women on this issue issue and last night's Town Hall in Lacrosse was really a spotlight for that
