DROP Garrett Crochet & ADD Spencer Arrighetti!? | Fantasy Baseball Advice

is it time to drop gar crochet find out next on fantasy baseball today in [Applause] five welcome into fbtn 5 on Monday August 12th I am Frank stold joined by Scott White and let's talk about gar crochet who got clobbered by the Cubs this weekend two in a third Innings seven runs allowed gave up four homers in this start he still did have lots of whiffs but lots of hard contact obviously the home runs were a problem after the start he did come out and say that he's been experiencing a mechanical issue over the last three or four weeks and cited that as the cause of his struggles he did say he he tried to convince himself it was something else each time out but now he's identified it as a simple fix Scott we've heard a bunch of different excuses or reasoning from gar crochet over the past month and it's not really working where you at on uh gar crochet is a time to drop yeah I I'm about there I saw him dropped in a 15 teamer and I actually tried to add him there so we're we're right on the bubble for 12 teamers I would say but I this was the first week where I convinced myself in my 12 teamers that there were players on waivers that I would prefer to roster than crochet and that is that is kind of risky because maybe he's right more specifically he they talked about how he was missing glove side um and and you know pointed to that being something he could correct the bigger issue of of course is the workload being limited he hasn't gone the minimum five innings required for a win since June but maybe he would have if his last three starts hadn't been so bad and in the ways that they were bad it's hard to say I I will point out that uh new manager Grady seore because the White Sox have changed since crochet last start said uh every game we are going to take it a little different in terms of how they manage crochet workload which might surprise you because every game it's been like a four inning limit it seem so I I I think it's still possible that he gives us some five six inning starts uh if he's more efficient about it if he pitches better but know it probably has like six starts left at most and the win's the most valuable stat How likely is he to get a win with the white socks backing him even if he does give you the five six inning starts and and then we're counting on him turning things around with this mechanical adjustment and on top of that I don't think he really should be pitching anymore at this point because the Z's up over 360 now and I feel like the White Sox one objective their main objective the rest of the season is to preserve crochet value they need to move him at the deadline he's not going to be part of the when they're ready to contend again they need to get a ton for him in a trade and uh the way this year is going the way the last few starts have gone he's just losing value every time out so uh I I I don't have confidence that they won't pull the plug at some point so I'm not saying crochet has must drop but I I could not blame you at all if you decide to drop him now would you drop him for someone like Spencer arti who had the best start of his young career at the Red Sox on Saturday seven Innings two runs 13 strikeouts with 21 whiffs on 92 pitches that's back-to-back starts with 12 plus strikeouts here for arti who's up to 47% rostered and also gets the white socks this week so fantastic matchup would you drop crochet for arti yes I would I I'd want to pick up arag Getti anywhere I could get him because yeah after a 12 strikeout start followed by a 13 strikeout start and now he gets the white socks so how good is that going to be uh he's up to three double- digigit strikeout efforts this season which is hard to fake clearly he's good at missing bats that's a legitimate part of his skill set his last six starts arag Getti has a 325 ER 106 whip 12.3k per nine and uh has one of those pitchers with a lot of different pitches three of his secondary offerings all have good whiff rates he's talked about how uh his his for seamer tends to get hit hard so he's using it less and I think that's good I think that's I think he has the right idea with that he actually threw it more in this start he actually threw it 47% of the time and still got 13 strikeouts so clearly he just has hitters all turned around at this point and I'm I'm very uh very optimistic about the direction arag Getti is headed let's wrap up with some Bullpen talk because we got a big news item on Friday the Giants option Camilo Deval back Triple A one day after giving up three runs and taking his fifth blown save Bob Melvin did name Ryan Walker the team's closer and Ryan Walker picked up a save on Saturday so thrown right into the role and he performed well I'm going to throw lots of names your way here Scott but uh it was a big weekend for bullpens how would you rank yeah Ryan Walker Victor vodnik Lucas IG Justin Martinez Sir Anthony Dominguez and a ralis Chapman if you need saves well I think Walker is the best of these and thankfully Bob Melvin actually named him the clo so I I think he's clearly number one Ryan Walker and he was going for a ton of money in some of those 15 team Roto leagues ton of$ dollars he's number one Justin Martinez is number two even though he hasn't been named the closer for Arizona all signs point to him being it for now I think there's a chance they could still go back to Paul sea Wald but I think Justin Martinez is good enough potentially to keep the job uh third I'm going to say Lucas EG now that Hunter Harvey is on the I he would be the next man up for the Royals and is good enough to potentially sees that job I will go a ralis Chapman uh who I think really should replace David Bednar at this point his controls been much better lately followed by Sir Anthony Dominguez who Kimbrell had another bad outing over the weekend I'm I'm I'm not sure I'm not sure he's going to be able to hold off Dominguez and finally at the end Victor vodnik who is the Rocky's closer but what is that really worth to us honestly fair enough for more extensive fantasy baseball coverage listen to the fantasy baseball Today podcast on Spotify Apple podcast The Odyssey app or
