my name is Natalia amres I'm a multi-disciplinary designer and artist based in Toronto Canada I've been into art for as long as I can remember since I was a kid so that's something that's never really left me it's always been a passion of mine the fashion stuff started coming a little bit later in my teens when I was thrifting a lot and like finding gems and like putting together outfits for my wardrobe that's when I started realizing that I really love fashion so I took a course at Seneca called fashion business management and I learned the foundation of fashion there and then later on I taught myself to sew in 2021 I was hired to create a custom welcome to Toronto jacket for Gary Trent what we did was we took his jerseys and his dad's jerseys because his dad played for the Raptors as well and kind of Blended them together and made a kind of Patchwork Raptors themed jacket with his uh his and his dad's number at the back so 33 and then in the inside of the jacket we stitched welcome to Toronto so that was a really cool project and then I think it was 2022 I was contracted to do a robe like a fighting robe for crispy Shay and it had his saying on it which is grind now shine later and I think he's like really into MMA fighting um so that was kind of where that inspiration came from so that was another really cool project to work on as well so the mural that we created is made from a series of jerseys that were actually traded in from fans and we recreated into a mural of the Blue Jays logo the sustainable element of everything is kind of like just at the core of everything that I do I've always been really mindful about that naturally but it's just becoming more and more important because we could see obviously the damage that it does to the ecosystem and to the planet so that's just something that's always just going to be a value of mine regardless of what steps I take in the future for business so when I'm confronted with like creating a mural out of used jerseys like the first thing that comes to mind is like people quilt all the time this is possible I can definitely do this it's just like the how part so I'll need to get the materials in hand I'll need to sift through them see what I have and then what I do is I'll cut them all and then lay them out and just keep rearranging them and taking a step back and looking at it and then rearranging and taking a step back so I'm just constantly kind of like shifting things around before I even go into like actually cutting the piece or sewing the piece like I just it's a lot of like brainstorming when I'm working with materials that kind of has like someone's name or number on it or it's like from a certain time a period of time I feel like it makes me feel more connected to like that time period or that piece or that uh Team even [Music]
