Morgan Stickney is no stranger to proving herself on the ice after picking up goalie pads at the age of five to compete against her older brothers. The 15 year old is now out to prove she belongs in the rink with some of the best young talent in the sport. I just like being in the WHL would be excited to see all the players and how the games and how they do their practices. Stickney grew up attending Winter Hawks games with her family. That's when she first started thinking that maybe one day she would be in the net as a member of the team is like in the back of my mind, I was like, that would be so cool to play for them. Some Morgan is no stranger to winning on the ice. In fact, her junior teams have won almost too many tournaments to count. She currently attends the prestigious Shattuck Saint Mary's Hockey Center of Excellence in Minnesota where her high school team just took home a state championship. The teen credits her tight knit family for helping her achieve so much at a young age. My parents have been a huge, uh aspect to it because obviously sending me to shat it. It's like the young age is obviously a hard decision and costs a lot of money, but they're willing to do it if I'm willing to put the word. And she has put in the work a routine that includes multiple workouts a day. The intensity of those practices preparing her to share the ice with the older, more experienced players of the WHL. But there are still some aspects of the game. She is hoping to pick up and practice number one with the Winter Hawks. I'm gonna try to absorb the speed. I mean, if I can handle the speed, then I can do it like anything in girls hockey for the rest of the season. And um just hoping it can help me like build confidence for the rest of my season, building confidence and gaining experience with the hopes of one day competing at the highest levels of the sport. My dream is to play in the PWHL. It's a new women's professional women's hockey league, uh, hopefully make a US national team play in the Olympics. Well, Stickney attended the Winter Hawks game last night in addition to practicing with the team today and next up on her busy calendars so far this year and into 2024 a trip to try to win the national championship with her high school team Britney. What an impressive young athlete. Just amazing. Thanks so much John
