Underdog Battle Royale Daily Best Ball Fantasy Football Strategy | Week 1 NFL DFS

GM GM everyone Beautiful Day football starts this week your fast drafts they're about done best ball manium is filled your slow drafts you are down to a one hour clock a one hour clock on the slow drafts I as of right now officially have no slow drafts on the underdog Gap beautiful so that means that we have to transition to week one that means that we need to care about Arizona against Buffalo we need to care against Cleveland against D it uh I'm just realizing my microphone was not on so probably good to have the microphone on that's not how you want to start that's not how you want to start the combination of Ball's life autopicking Demarcus Robinson and me not having my microphone on to start the stream pretty pretty embarrassing stuff but we're going to get it figured out so what are we going to do today well I thought what do we do do we do we draft German Shephard five teams to a maximum of $10,000 four months from now even though we already have drafted the best pal Mania 5 winner probably not so I think what we are going to do actually I don't think I know what we are going to do is we are going to start taking a look at some of the week one projections we are gonna start drafting Battle Royale and we are going to we're going to win some money I think the most important thing is we are uh we are going to start figuring out some strategy is is really the key here because I'm G to be drafting a tonn of battle Royals this year if you were unfamiliar battle Royals and the other contests of their ilk on Underdog are six person drafts where you draft a quarterback you draft a running back you draft two wide receivers a flex and a tight end the prize pools are pretty big I mean look you guys were draft in minnow I was drafting mini snowers this is a way to get mini schneer money in one week the slates are pretty big we have the dog bow qualifier which is a ticket to a live final and a chance to win $1 million in prizes we have all we smaller $ five do contest we have $3 contests a lot of contests are available in the dailies on Underdog and I think that most people are playing these contests incorrectly I think that there are some people who play the game very well I think uh an example of people who play the game pretty well would be our friends over at the badge Brothers Nez and JN are quite good at the game but what we are going to do today is we're going to talk about some of these week one spots and I'm going to put a little bit of this Theory into action so you guys will see right here the adps and then the first thing that you're going to see when I I start picking is that uh the adps are just are just a construct I I would say from a very high level the first thing that you need to start thinking is how often is this player going to be selected how often is Tyreek Hill going to be selected in Battle Royale Terry Hill will probably be selected 100% of the time then start thinking how often will Tua be picked Tua is the quarterback seven on this slate but he will be picked you know a relative uh I need to refresh this because I think I might already be on the clock no I'm wrong uh so Tua is going to be Tua is going to be selected I mean it's hard to do it's hard to do uh an actual ownership projection although I'm sure that there is someone who does that out there Tua will probably be selected against the Jacksonville Jaguars I don't know let's call it napkin math he's selected you know Dak is also um attached to a quote unquote first round pick in this let's call it 50% so then you have to start thinking how often will I need Tyreek how often will I need Tyreek with his quarterback or how often is Tyreek better on his own I am going to I am going to Hue to ADP here with Justin Jefferson on this selection but I'm gonna do something a little bit different uh with my Jefferson teams that I assume most people are not doing I do love this I do love to do Neighbors in there all right so with my next pick this is one of the moves that I've been doing instead of selecting the next guy by ADP etn I've been matching Justin Jefferson a little bit with James Cook I think James Cook is pretty strong leverage on the most popular game if you look at the combined adps from top to bottom I would definitely be fting Chase I I don't think I don't think I will take Chase in these so for example we are going to see what this user brn dxq does oh this was actually this was actually interesting of him so he takes Josh Allen and instead of selecting Dalton cancade he takes Trey McBride which I do like if you start thinking about the the combinatorial ownership there that but effectively trying to do is you're trying to will be too confident and the highest scoring the highest projected options as opposed to seeing where some of those options might fail I actually think this is an example of that where Stroud to me would probably be my top rated option in Battle Royale this week I uh I'm undecided if I'm going to try and do Battle Royale rankings um if that's something that you guys would like if any of you are subscribers on the patreon let me know if Battle Royale rankings are something that you guys would like specifically one of the reasons why I would have have strout over Allen is you are unlikely to see an allen double stack ever hit in a contest this size with this many entries what is it uh 67,900 London alve and I going to do Neighbors as the bring back there for Justin Jefferson you guys can probably already tell but what I'm planning on doing with this team is selecting Sam darnold who yes will be low owned overall but probably not very uh probably not very owned in the context of Jefferson teams okay all right all right what do I do I'm going to take I already took James Cook I'm gonna take Raheem moer and you there definitely by the way is a criticism of how I'm uh of how I'm doing this which is that this might be too much scrolling down I might be giving up too many projected points uh hope about where can you get an explanation of how this works you can get an explanation right here effectively this it works the same way that best B Mania or the puppy or any of those drafts Works where it is a bunch of six-man drafts where you draft six players a quarterback a running back two wide receivers a tight end and a flex except for it doesn't last all season it just lasts one slate Paul I will uh I will show you in one second who my favorite scroll the F down tight end is 10man PPR redraft got Herz CD lamb it's a good team man very good team probably don't need Jordan Mason in a 10 Team league though the Counterpoint the Counterpoint is that we always just don't know all right so I'm obviously GNA take darnold with one of these picks and uh oh that's right ta Miss lit a quarterback here that's not even my smash though that's not my smash Paul don't worry about it this is my week one smash Dalton Schultz at the Indianapolis Colts in the dome I mean to say he's a smash obviously he is obviously he is going to be owned um Janu is my other guy that I will be taking as a a scroll the F down tight end he going to take dton Schultz there and then I'm going to take Sam darnold with my next pick to set up a team of James Cook and Raheem moer at running back Justin Jefferson Malik neighbors and Dalton Schultz a tight end then after I draft this team I'm going to pull the projections up and we're going to look through them a little bit so I'm going to take Sam darnold so the first battle royale team I ever draft on stream is a Sam darnold Justin Jefferson stack with the Malik neighbors bring back Dalton Schultz at tight end James Cook and Raheem moard at running back let's compare that to some of the other teams in this draft so we have stoud un stacked here because I just took Schultz so Stout unstacked I mean I don't I think that team's probably dead Kyler and Marvin Harrison with Nico reek can Kade bring back and he'll I mean obviously he'll have plenty of running back options here um Josh Allen with McBride no stack so just you're playing that like Josh Allen is going to run tank obviously is a very strong option Ridley I I don't know how strong he is Richardson and Pitman obviously is pretty good etn pits Chase I mean this is a obviously this is a very good team and my boy John rot a run here at the turn he starts with my favorite play of the Slate obviously my favorite BR play this week is going to be Devon aain so he Taps double running back Adams and Higgins Higgins is a pretty strong play this week with burrow and Zack s now that s there is a scroll the f down pick um you know Stephen this is uh this is a good question do you need two scroll down guys or is just one fine I suppose my answer would be my instinct is that two is probably better in the larger ones so 67,000 entrance I mean nothing approximating the nuts is going to be near like you won't need the the truly perfect combination but an 80th percentile outcome is also not going to give you a win I suppose it depends on how far you scroll down like so what JN just did here where he took Z he probably could have drafted very Stone chalk and then taken Zack hers where Zs is going to be so low owned Dave no no plans to do this right now but maybe I will I mean maybe I'll do one maybe I'll maybe I'll uh be done drafting these battle Royals and do one on this stream but unclear unclear there I mean 64.9% full with uh with seven days left I would say if you if you do care about EV that is probably something that you would like to do so I wanted to pull this over here these are the uh the Roto Grinders projections for week one that is who I'm going to be officially partnering with uh and let's pull up the fan duel scoring because that's a little bit closer to Underdog this should give you uh this should give you um a better idea of how many points we're sacrificing when we make these picks Davis I've been watching for what feels like a decad now I really burn money for the sake of being different just uncorr relate to be unique more often with better plays for instance snow darnold here uh I don't know it's hard to say hard for me to say if that's good or bad I'm just now getting to playing do I adjust my player tar in best ball versus redraft uh not really not really I might I might make different decisions on a team like a given team best ball versus redraft like I might IA I don't like Jonathan Brooks as much in redraft because you have to sit there and uh and hold them okay so for example let's see how many points I just gave up a quarterback here Josh Allen projected for 22 on FanDuel and obviously this is early in the week these projections are going to change um so Josh Allen is projected for 22.9 and Sam darnold is projected for 16.2 so I gave up you know uh uh six points there and Justin Jefferson was giving up points actually who I took over St Brown and who I took over uh Tyreek I believe so Justin Jefferson is projected for 15 now obviously the thing that you have to imagine there is if Justin Jefferson is the guy you need in that slate then the odds are very are much higher that darnold is a high enough scoring quarterback for you to feel better about it the position where it really matters is going to be here at tight end though this is where you're going to see people make the greatest mistakes so uh these Detroit La guys I suppose are they're not on the uh they're not on the Slate so Evan Ingram 11.3 McBride 9.8 concade 9.5 and joku 9 Ferguson 8.8 K pits 8.5 and a pretty big drop to Bowers Schultz Fri mad but for example Cole KT projected for 4.9 so let's call it five Doon Schultz projected for six doton Schultz will be 10 times as owned uh Johnny I assuming that because I'm literally recording this on Monday these are the the very early projections these are these are very early projections these these numbers are going to look much different when we get to Sunday I would assume that these are ran based off of some very preliminary baselines they're going to look they're going to look different tomorrow they're going to look much different on Thursday for examp I mean here we can look at the uh let's look at the single game let's look at the uh the Kansas City City Baltimore game yeah you're just going to get you're just going to get a way better you're going to get a way wider distribution of points on these let's go back to it's uh you because what I would have to do is I can't just attach a playlist like if I was streaming on Twitch I would just be able to do a playlist and on this you you can't just do a playlist you have to actually physically download the music so that's not happening all right so we probably gave up too many points on that one I think I think scrolling down to darnold I mean obviously I I would only do it with Jefferson that might be a little bit too cute look if I had carine money I could hire someone to play acoustic guitar behind me while I stream could do a cowboy stack I always worry a little bit with CI and Dak just like that has got to be such a such an insane combinatorial pairing but again you do have to think a you have to think a lot about how often are these players getting getting drafted together and what is their likelihood of ending up in the optimal lineup you know those are those are the questions we have to answer and I think the reason why I find this game so fascinating right now is very unlike DFS we just don't know I mean I think kind of at the end of the day that's the thing that's cool about it is we actually don't know the answers to these questions and if you don't know the answers to the questions it's more fun to play it's more fun to play I've done like 50 of these is Tolbert a reach or is it unique well definitely is unique how far down is Tolbert in these Tolbert is wide receiver 47 so I'm gonna guess he's going to be less than 5% owned or whatever what do you need to see the drafted percentage and dollars on a live draft you need the draft caddy from endgame syndicate.com it's $29 a month what team will be the Texans of this year that is a great question what do I do on this one let's do a I actually don't like beon so much so I'm going to start with who I I like aain the most the team that will be the Texans of this year I mean is it lazy to say the Bears it probably it probably is the Bears I don't think it's I do not think it's the Raiders do I trade waddle for cup straight up sure why not why not I would imagine that Jaylen tolber will be less than 1% owned in these contests but I I and I think you obviously would only with Dak who is this year's puka if there is one it will be Malik Washington in my opinion I also would would just fade Jamar Chase just a lot of weirdness with Jamar Chase I'm not really that interested in it um and I like McBride more than concade so I'm gonna do McBride here setting up the uh the Kyler stuff is JK Dobbins too far of a scroll this week well that is an interesting question because I I sort of tend to feel that if Dobbin has a really strong season it's all going to come fairly early it's unlikely to be stuff that happens very late just due to his injury history so he probably is a pretty strong play the thing that you have to contend with is just because he's a strong play in a vacum doesn't mean that he's like a favorite to outscore Jerome Ford or DeAndre Swift or Javonte Williams or Tony Pard um all right let's get Kyler out of the way here well yeah let's get Kyler out of the way here again I don't know if I'm doing these things in an optimal way I am I'm just I'm just vibing out do I drop Jameson Williams for ad Mitchell no no you do not no Carson steel Carson steel is um he's not dead or he's not he's not alive sorry Sage per is is the is the third down back there so it doesn't matter I'm not even saying I'm not even saying about if he uh if he plays or not I just don't yeah you you based on my understanding the rules you would get a swap but I don't think it's that particularly good of a spot for him even if he does play like I wouldn't be really wanting to jam him in regardless I don't think all right I am planning on selecting Jaylen waddle with this pick Jaylen Wadd practices with no setbacks I like pairing two of the Miami guys together but you don't need you don't need Tua in these circumstances because Tua doesn't run so Kyler can get there you know 47 rushing yards two rushing touchdowns you know uh Nez or JN might roll in and tell me um that that was bad but nii n is a good play Naji is a a very good he was a very good DFS play he is a very good Battle Royale play as well Warren coming in off the hamstring rart Smith playing his old team lot of reasons to think that he's very strong now please let me point out as I'm drafting these like I'm thinking through all this stuff it's a Monday the projections are are fairly raw I am Consulting them but they are fairly raw the thesis of scrolling down in home leagues you you probably don't need to do you probably don't really need to scroll down very much in home leagues yeah I don't I think in home leagues you just play the best plays H probably J Mo no ad dun all right so we took Jaylen Wadd this is probably the Boomer coming out in me but I like taking two running backs in the half PPR stuff especially with a little bit of certainty in their rle so I was just talking about Nai I am gonna take niji you got to think the uh the aain drafter very rarely is ever being interested in in nji Harris and then we are going to round it out here with a wide receiver I guess all of the guys with uh with after a 34 are like legit scroll down guys I guess it' be after 36 legit I mean how far can we scroll could do Gabe Davis that's a legit scroll yeah yeah 8 that that's a probably a smart thing is to not do a half measure so Gabe Davis is probably a little bit of a half measure he he probably does get drafted in these I mean maybe not to a ton but like Chris Godwin actually maybe that's a better one or maybe he gets drafted 20% of the time something like that where yeah I mean AD Mitchell probably like legitimately goes undrafted although I mean if if Drake London is not getting drafted on these then maybe people are playing too fancy you know or or me doing Gabe Davis over tank Dell might be a little bit fancy but I am doing it and I would need I would need my uh I would need my my wonderful Associates actually the the people who would know best at what is fancy or too fancy would be my friends over at the end game Syndicate we did we just did a video today and we were talking with uh I was talking with nerdy tenner and udaka and and Brian Hooper and and uh Adam Sher and I would be very curious to do these with one of those guys and have them kind of uh well specifically nerdy tenner who is optimal and what people are doing is probably the largest in this contest uh versus you know call it the Millie maker for The Showdown call it single entry stuff on on DK whatever all right um sure is chalk just conceptually what do you think about that and what what were the scroll what round were the Scrolls in uh five and six no no before before before that's probably too early we haven't figured that one out yet yeah but in uncorrelated it's probably too early probably five and six you should stick stick to some sort of tiers ranking or something there and then mix it up at the end um because I guess I guess the way the the way kind of thinking about it is that I'm expecting and the chat was talking about this too the projections I I expect we actually talked about this on endgame I'm expecting the projections to be pretty bad in week one like yeah like I'm expecting like Zach Moss or or chuba Hubbert or someone like this to get a lot of points yeah yeah I mean it's like almost definitely gonna happen yeah um yeah okay I guess I guess that's fair yeah because yeah uh a um equilibrium strategy only knows what it knows so like I think Mike Evans who's projected as the wide receiver six in this slate should like honestly probably be projected for a fewer points than the wide receiver 15 and 16 close yeah like here let me let me look at let me look at what it is on on rotor grinders like their their like early projections or whatever cuz I bet I bet the the Gap is not that wide we're going to pick it we're going to pick at uh at five here all right Mike Evans is projected for 12.7 points did you rip this already did you start it looks like you did yeah yeah I all right you gonna do another one after this or you done after this oh I'm gonna do is I'm gonna do a bu in between we'll do the ownership okay we'll look at it okay all right what did I say Mike Evans 12.7 Dell and again these are early 10.4 I mean that that will probably look different on Sunday you know but you're talking about a 1.8 point gap in in median projection on a Monday and 100% ownership versus you know let's call it 70 or whatever or what what is your what does the your sheet have for Dell let's look Davis who the [ __ ] is tank Dell I know who tank Dell is Believe It or Not wow wow right as of now 26% yeah like to me that is it's like that is not even close that that I guess and now that is that is ball knowing that is not in the projections right now but to me I'm like 80% Mike Evans versus 26% tank Dell not close I I know what I'm doing every time me me and Pete uh almost won this last year the Battle Royale one of the weeks in the same week and I pretty sure it was under own tank Dell in under own tank that week all right we took we took Devon achain who is my favorite play of the entire Battle Royale slate he would be my 101 in this slate if I was doing rankings I hav looked at projections so what do you think about for over data if I can automate ownership projections obviously I think that's defin nuts the spread I mean the total uh I think total theoretical ownership I'm gonna do Nico and try and get Stroud around and if not I won't um oh this okay this is a good point 100% ownership is only 16% well yeah yes yeah yeah drafted total drafted in we Define ownership as total drafted in the all pods okay okay no that's that's an important so chipy is making a great point which is that is a huge discre uh huge discrepancy in how you're going to think about the game where 100% of your opponents having a player versus 16% of your opponents having a player is a huge difference that that's kind of like unlocking something for me yeah sure yeah that means that means like you should very rarely pass up some obvious chalk spots yeah W what honestly that I'm kind of having a revelation right now and doesn't that seem like doesn't that isn't that so different definitely yeah okay we're learning man I I would really like to be good at these this year Brian because I'm pretty sure most people doing it are not doing it well and this is something I can win 50k playing where I don't have to compete against udaka and nerdy tener and and and these brain Bros like like how many how many entries in a given Battle Royale are done on the toilet if you had if you had to put a percentage on it how many are done on the toilet I have no idea they're also fast they're real fast I don't think people care that much there are more more and more tools coming out though uh how many people are going to use them probably not many couple hundred crutches says total spread ownership I mean could you do well spread and total are like kind of redundant I was that's I was thinking even team total would be better than total but yeah total
