Mike Greenberg discusses Joc Pederson reportedly agreeing to a oneyear deal with the Diamondbacks Uh while you were watching something else, we um we have other things to get to, by the way, who's gonna open the door for those guys today? Is it too late to do that, mike? While you were watching something else? There were some deals Consummated in the later hours on Thursday. We speculated yesterday on this show where for Jock Peterson now we have an answer to that question. One year 9.5 million to go to the Diamondbacks. That was one of the teams we talked about on the program yesterday morning. I know you discussed this, uh this fit yesterday at MLB tonight. What are your thoughts on Peterson to the desert? Yeah. So last night, we, we went through different options of, it's a lot of DH bats available right now. So the D batch D backs, they had options. They knew they wanted to get pretty much a straight DH. But I think what Jock Peterson brings to the team is a little bit of parody to where you, you do have some balance within that lineup with christian walker, Gabriel Moreno and Eugenio Suarez. That right handed bat very right handed. Heavy. It's gonna be nice to throw in the switch hitter. But Marte bring in Peterson, a guy who's proven to be able to perform in the postseason. Likes the big stage, probably that type of piece that they, they felt like they were missing last postseason. I mean, that team is built to win. Yes, they're gonna run the base and put the bat on the ball. Peterson may not be that, but what he can bring in a big moment when you're looking for that big three run homer off a right handed bat or right right handed arm. I think Peterson, I think that's a, that's a, that's a good call for the back. Max Kellerman says he likes how balanced the Diamondbacks lineup is Yeah, I, I like how balanced their lineup is now, you know, another big power bat from the left side to supplement Alec Thomas who had his kind of breakthrough performance in the postseason last year. Court mccarroll, I like that. The balance is good in this lineup and this dude, um, when he gets hot, he put you on, on his back. Like we've seen it in the postseason where he gets blistering hot before and I love that the D backs, they're, they're continuing to push after you make it to the World Series , even if they felt like they were ahead of schedule. They say no, let's continue to keep going. You go get another starting pitcher, go get a third baseman , bring in Jack Peterson continue to let the team know and the fan base know that, that this wasn't a one trick pony that we're just trying to come in one year and be out. We're trying to make this, you know, last as long as possible. I love it too because the idea that the Dodgers are just gonna buy another division title is great if you're a Dodger fan, but it's unsettling to the rest of the, uh to the rest of the league. So I was looking at the rotations in the division and this discussion point isn't as important as it may have been when it was an unbalanced Max Kellerman discusses the importance of lefthanded starting pitching schedule. You always think like if you're gonna buy a big left handed free agent bat, what kind of left handed starting pitching is in the division? That's not as important anymore because you're not playing in the division as much. But uh for most of the teams like San Diego Padres rotation right now is all right handed. The Rockies have some left handed starters but Dodgers, you bring in Glass now, Buehler. Right. Right, right. Everybody's right. Unless Brian Yarborough gets a starting spot, which he might be a swing man, he might not. Uh That's all right handed. So it's pretty interesting to have some left handed capabilities as a lineup now. Yeah, I mean, you're going off the majority if the majority of guys that we're facing in division, even though it's balanced now are gonna be these right handed arms could that be the determining factor on, do we want Soler or AJ D Martinez or Jack Peterson? I don't know if it plays that heavily. I don't know if it's financial base because you would assume that they would have at least talked to JD Martinez with the amount of success that he had. So, did he want another year? Did you want more money or did they just plainly say? No, we'd rather have this lefty bat over JD Martinez. Yeah, that's interesting stuff.
