the noon hour is here check it out and you're locked on to Utah's highest rated most listened to sports radio station it's my station it's my station this is H sson and Scotty G on 975 the KSL Sports Z [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] hey welcome in 975 the KSL Sports Zone kicking off your noon hour let's get it going folks hands and Scotty how you doing buddy what's up good you look good oh yeah yeah you look good did you get that bike r on this morning we were told to dress up today cuz we got the video guy coming in this is this is me me and all my glory you look good man do I look bad no Lloyd was going to send us a text remember he said he said I shaved can you tell yeah so I I mean this was as good as I can do are they coming in to film today yeah yeah all right awesome I'm excited about it I just have them get close in on your your nose my only redeeming attribute yeah that that'll be good hey so I was actually listening to some conversation on on school fees and sports fees and I actually just recently got a indication of what my daughter's volleyball fees are going to be yeah for a club or for high school for high school yeah and and it's a thousand plus I mean it's for high school for high school thought High School is the one place you could go or you didn't get hammered with that stuff no it's way expensive and I was wondering was like for your kids because you've had kids go through a bunch of different things with band or debate or yeah yeah yeah are those things all expensive uh or is it only the sports no no no no no whatever your kid goes into they're going to get you there's always somebody there with the hand out being like or with their hands out like givme givme giveme givee whether it's band whether it's choir whether it's debate whether whatever somebody out there saying oh I'm going to do this for your kid and you have to pay this like they're G to get you somebody's going to get you unless your kid is just sitting at home doing nothing there's going to be an activity your kid's involved in or somebody's going to want money like yeah debate poured a ton of money into that for trips and and hotels and stuff like that uh for band uh my you know my oldest played the cello in the orchestra GE man I got was it B it was bad it was bad you know because then you know uh let's see got to pay for trips or got a lot of trips and then uh we uh had to upgrade his instrument because his old one wasn't good enough and so we had to buy a new cello into his junior year and that sucker so you have you can't you don't buy that from the school you buy that from a music store yeah does a school rent that to you uh the school can H I don't think we had that option at our place uh the old school where he started did and then this new school they just assumed that you would buy it because you're in Bountiful now so you should be buying your own stuff you should be r that makes sense ah man it's getting really expensive which is crazy because you got some 98y old retiree that paid off their house when they're 54 still paying property taxes which I believe are portioned out into yeah some of your Schoolboard fees oh it should be a lot should a lot of that goes to school yeah a lot of that goes to see your little UC yeah your py graph that you get and it says you know this is where your property tax goes I think it's like 70 80% goes to schools like I'm wondering how many hundreds of thousands of people actually own their property here in Utah and we're taxing the brains out of them for yeah our Public School Systems and you're looking around like well why are the fees continuing to Skyrock I know cost of jerseys and everything are continuing to go up and yeah okay so I got to pay for a spirit pack I know you hate Spirit that's what we called it was a spirit pack yeah I can't remember what we called ours you probably just had a normal saying of gym clothes yeah or I like Spirit P school colors Whatever It Is Ours was a spirit pack get your Weezer Spirit packs our spirit pack was 40 bucks that's what we paid back then uh that was our school fees uh so it was a um I actually remember what it was it was called the because we went to DEA it was the DCL club membership okay membership dues and it was you know 30 40 bucks something like that yeah which back then is seemed like a lot but considering what you're paying now is a bargain an absolute bargain well it's just it Bonkers to me it's Bonkers because I feel like any fees that are attached to a school are getting more and more inflated yes and then trying to identify where the money is going is getting more and more convoluted and again I don't want to I I'm glad you bring this up because I think it's a fascinating conversation and I think maybe you know next summer maybe we delve into this on a couple topics and have some guesss on and talk about this a little bit because I do I think you know we everybody's ripping on the legislature here in Utah for altering the Constitution and all this other stuff like I If if you really want to get my attention and really want to do some change I think there needs to be something put in place where there's more transparency into where are property tax and school dues and all that stuff like I want to know when I hand over $500 for my kid to go on a ban trip or a debate trip or school or an athletic trip I want to know okay this is going to this hotel this was that much this was this much this was this much and said just no no yeah uh just venmo me the money and I'll make sure everything's fine it's like whoa I like hang on wait a minute are we sure about this hang on and there's a thing that came in in the mail and it was like this and this and administrative fees and it's like wait a second yeah how much of that's going to that and what is that because is that not paid by the the board of education is that not part of the school's responsibility to pay you as an administrator or as yeah a a coach or as a and believe me I more than anybody probably that you could ever listen to talk on this topic understand how underpaid High School coaches are totally get it yes but they know what they're getting paid going into it yes that doesn't mean that you inflate anything and get anything extra because you knew what you were taking on going into it you know it's like if if our job was to do on air radio and I knew that I was getting paid $35 a show but I could increase listeners fees and then I could take a small portion of those you know and I'm not saying that's happening because I because because I just don't know no no I just want the transparency to know hold everybody accountable I just feel bad for all the moms and dads driving around listening to us right now yep that are underwater already oh yeah and they're getting some type of notification from their school that fees for whatever participation whether it's Color Guard or band or if it's debate or football or volleyball any of it yeah yep and parents are getting these notifications of it's going to be x amount for your kid to participate and it's like holy crap well we're going to have fundraising opportunities and it's like man where does this end yeah well and yeah know the other day my wife was like hey uh you know just be ready uh for the bank statement we had to pay school dues and it's just like and this wasn't for anything Athletics this wasn't for anything out of the extracurricular activities it was just basic School dues and I'm like I'm like usually you know you know for 30 40 bucks you know you don't need to tell me about that that's fine you know we'll make it work and she's like no it was over $200 just basic School dues yeah I'm like whoa wa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa who whoa whoa but yeah it was like well he he's taking this class and this class has this extra do and this and and I'm like you got to be kidding me well but I will sacrifice everything I have and I'll pay the money because I want my kids to have their opportunities but I also know that there are people out there that can't can't do it well and that's that's what's really um heartbreaking about some of this stuff is that I think that we're having probably a good chunk of highle athletes out there that won't get an opportunity to play and play at a high level because they can't afford the camps they can't afford the travel they can't afford the aaou they can't afford the club sports yeah or things along those lines and they get lost in the shuffle and they they give up an opportunity to get a free college experience because Mom and Dad who are already working two or three jobs combined between all of them can't afford the $3 $400 to send him to a camp yeah or and I can't remember exactly what it is it's close to a th it might be in the 900s for volleyball fees somewhere in there but I know this it it shocked me it absolutely shocked me yeah and to every coach out there every High School coach I know that you're doing good things too I know that you're finding those athletes that can help and that really need the program and I'm sure you're finding sponsors and I'm sure that you're making exceptions I like I'm sure there's that going on Scotty has to be oh I I would certainly hope so no chance that families can hit this nut there's no chance so I know to those coaches out there that you're scraping it together and you're finding sponsors and you're making exceptions and you're doing those things I congratulate you but we got to do something to keep these things reasonable because it feels like it's getting Out Of Reach yeah I mean you and I joke about our lives and you know money and stuff like that but but I I at least I'll speak for myself I'm extremely blessed to do what I do and the jobs that I have and the opportunities that I have and and never in a million years did I think I'd be able to carve out a decent living for me and my family doing what what I do a dream job absolute dream job I totally recognize that and and I'm privileged beyond belief but boy I and so I can I can I can make it work for my kids I can make it work and I'm more than happy to make it work but my heart breaks for people because I'm sure there's a lot that are like we can't do this and they're either not foregoing that or they're going into debt to do it or you know they're swiping the credit card to do it you know like there's there's people out there that are really in a bind and and my heart breaks for them for sure at 975 Hance at Scotty gzone I'd love it if you'd just shoot us a tweet I'd love to know what some of the fees you're paying are yeah I got a buddy of mine cheerleader he's got twin cheerleaders $4,500 each dropping nine grand for school for school is or is that cheer camps uh he just says cheerleaders I'd like him to specify because if that's school fees know break break that down for me we may need to have a discussion but Camp season for my son I ended up somewhere around $3,500 just for Trav and stuff now I did take him on that Oregon trip and you know we did put him into some pretty good camps and the trips were the most expensive Parts you know but you're doing these day camps that are 150 bucks or so and they're showing up for 45 minutes to an hour and a half of actual film and an opportunity to meet up with a coach and parents are are leaking it is getting so wildly expensive yeah and and like you I'm not it's not that I'm complaining exactly I'm just bringing it to the Forefront I want everybody's mind on it I want everybody out there to understand you're not the only one dealing with this like we deal with this Scotty and I deal with this oh yeah on a daily B basis and it hurts us just like it's hurting you and yeah I'd like answers just like you would like answers and I guess that's why I bring it up Scotty yep uh 100% uh well I mean it's like okay one more little and I know Lloyd's like you guys got to move on um but I you know how much this little league football league costs yeah I mean it's it's a significant amount of money to have your kid and and I get it he gets foot he gets the pads he gets the helmet the officials you know all the officials and stuff like that the field rentals but all of a sudden they're like hey parents we need you know we need volunteers to run the Chain Gang and be scorekeepers and I'm like wait a minute that's a league thing why are parents on the hook to why do I I can't watch my kid because I've got a hold a first down marker yeah we need parents for snack rotations and and food and halftime drinks and oranges and and and the snacks I mean I'm I'm okay with I get that but it's just what I'm saying is it's all aart yeah exactly but but it it for League maintenance if the league if I'm paying a lot of money to a league you can hire a a you know 15-year-old kid to move the chains you shouldn't be taking volunteers for that my buddy's got a uh he's actually got a a son that's a college quarterback and he just sent me a text he said I pay $250 per per two hours and it winds up being about $5,000 for a year of training for for his his son who's a quarterback oh well good luck everybody that's aside from everything that's yeah in addition to everything else in addition yeah as you know I put my son through a a stretching regimen yeah through a stretching company and then I also had him in with a physical therapist IST and getting his body right that was easily in that $4,000 range in about a three month stretch so the World of Sports I think that we've officially jumped the shark and I think parents are hurting and I feel terrible for you out there keep up the go fight Scotty and I love you yeah and and your kids are benefiting from it yes and to to the coaches that are out there like why is he attacking us believe me I'm not attacking you I'm grateful for you and I know a lot of this is out of your hands and I'm sure some of you look at the budget and you're like how am I going to even make this work how am I going to make it work I totally appreciate you and I love you for the time that you donate to our kids but it is getting wild well and I don't want to you know that we're really strict on parents Behaving Badly at games and parents Behaving Badly with coaches the one thing that I understand if I were a parent and I had poured in all that money for training and everything along those lines and I feel like my kids getting the wrong end of the stick in terms of playing time and opportunities I'm going to be I'm gonna have a hard time not being as vocal as I would if I wasn't paying that money you know yes and so again if you're a parent skin in the game if you're a parent you probably need to trust the coaches and keep your mouth shut but I understand why you'd be a little salty after dropping five grand in personal training and it doesn't appear like your kids getting any opportunity to get out on the field totally agree with you yeah and and I will tell you too I'm my kids are in a world class situation with coaches you know my my youngest daughter just got new coaches with her volleyball team and I think they're world-class people I think that they're high level Vol volleyball mins I think that they're great coaches and I am forever grateful and you know what I'm going to cut the check but I'm going to cut the check and and and that's fine and I'm G to watch my daughter Thrive and I'm going to watch these people help her develop but that doesn't mean that as a parent as a man that works his butt off for money that I'm not wondering where it's going specifically yeah and then feeling bad for people out there that maybe can't cut that check mhm I feel I feel terrible both both things can be true absolutely they can and and I'll I'm forever grateful for the coaches that my son currently has and my daughter these new ones that she has forever grateful but that doesn't mean that I just need to shut my mouth and pay the money yeah because parents need some type of voice some type of representation and and some type of transparency and maybe there maybe I need to stomp in there and be like show me where every Penny's going but I think that that should just be well said before you as you pay the money yep I agree all right Hansen Scotty let's get to it starting a lineup right here on 975 the KSL Sports Zone this is Hansen Scotty g go the lineup is set and it's time to kick off the show with the biggest topic of the day this is the starting lineup on 975 the KSL Sports so well I got the text rolling in here here's a buddy of mine $1,700 for marching band for school fees yeah oh no way yep oh my gosh 17,700 so that makes me want to just shut my mouth yeah because I'd like to know what school district he's in like I said it doesn't matter what your kid goes into there's going to be somebody with their hands open saying do you know what school district he's in uh or what school I would say he's down south somewhere is he Utah County I think so Alpine yeah maybe all right 12:22 Hansen Scotty uh Kyle Whittingham addressing the media yesterday uh final media availability before his weekly press conference coming up on Monday and uh gave a wrap up of fall Camp we're in a good spot right now coming out of fall camp with a lot of uh positives going on we got the two deep completely set on both sides of the ball it's a matter now of details and fine tuning least last we got what six practices left before we line up and play so it's all about the details from this point forward so this next cut I wanted to play because he didn't really take the bait on this but make no mistake this is very true this is a good year for Utah not to open up against Michigan this is a good year for Utah not to open up in the swamp against Florida this is a good year for Utah not to have to deal with one of those big dogs right or BYU right out of the gate they get open up against Southern Utah and no disrespect to the te- birds love them but this is a good team for Utah to open up against when you have so many players coming back from injury Kyle was asked about it didn't really take the bait uh this is you know he goes coache here but make no mistake deep down Kyle's pretty happy that they're opening up against Southern Utah not against a big dog well we never take anybody for granted but yeah we're excited that C's back out there that's back out there really excited about the team overall a lot of good things going for us right now but none of that matters unless you translates to the game field on on Thursdays or Saturdays the case may be but we're excited to have uh those guys that have played so much good football for us that were missing last year to have them back this year so again be very very grateful because I I think that there's a lot of rust that needs to be knocked off with some of these guys and you get and it's a little easier to do that against Southern Utah than it is against Florida or Michigan or BYU or whoever you could potentially open up against well I know that we've been ringing the water out of this type of conversation for a long time and I know Baylor was scheduled a while back but I think the days of putting uh Florida State the days of putting in Michigan the days of opening up at Wisconsin the day for for anybody in the Big 12 I think those days are far behind you yeah what I'm doing is scheduling maybe three FBS uh Mountain West Conference or you know group of five or Conference USA and maybe one FCS never again am I going to open up with a Michigan ever it I know that there was an announcement they were going to be opening with Miami was it yeah in uh Vegas in Vegas next year or I can't I think it's a couple years down L couple years down the line I I wouldn't do it I don't need to I need my guys healthy I know that I get a guaranteed invite if I am the conference Champion I know that I don't have to put my guys on a road trip in a big stadium in a tough environment now maybe there are times where I want to be tested like that maybe I want to push it like that but for BYU to go to Wyoming it doesn't make sense to me no it doesn't feel like it's the right thing for BYU to be doing this year because wyomi is going to be tough and that environment's going to be tough and it's like do you do you need to do it it's like in the Big 12 now you've got to be a scheduling Mastermind with your out of conference that's why I'm kind of excited at some point when college football gets to the point where it's an entire conference schedule it's an NFL it's an NBA it's an NHL schedule where you're not having to play with these undersized lower levels or you're having to play in the biggest of big LSU stadiums where where you're playing even ground where everybody's Distributing $22 million to their roster yeah be nice those those would be really good days but yeah I I I get your Point opening up against Southern Utah and then having Baylor and in Utah State Utah State's going to be a good test I think that's a fair test now having it in Logan it's a little bit more difficult maybe you shouldn't have to do that but I think it's great that you do the 101 because it's an instate rival and I think it's fantastic in this scheduling process yeah agreed and Kyle went on to talk about those players knocking off some of that rust going into the start of the Season absolutely and that's you know that'll come as the games come and that's just part of it but those guys are guys that have played a lot of snaps for us so it's not anything new to them it's just getting back into the the groove of of competition and and the physicality of it and that's something that uh we don't have time here on this segment but maybe we touch on a little bit later is what a reasonable expectations for game one for Brank keithy and cam Rising I mean these guys haven't played you know cam Rising hasn't been on a football field playing actual football in a real game since the Rose Bowl a year and a half ago yeah and I think every situation is unique and I think that this is a very unique situation because you don't need him you don't need him because now I want I'd rather play Caleb loner I know what Brent Keith is yeah I'd rather play Caleb loner i' I'd rather play Miki sugat taga because Brand's going to be pushing and get the receptions when you jump into Baylor and even Utah state but I want to know what do I got past this yeah I'm playing the the Ryan kid out of UCLA and I'm gonna see I've got so much depth what I would do is I'm having a solid rotation I'm not even waiting until you're jumped up on him 24 to nothing I'm getting a solid rotation I'm working dudes onto the field yeah now I could tell brt hey look brand if we're in a crunch and the game's on the line yeah but you're going to have to hand over some of these reps and be patient and I and I'm playing Seven deep at the defensive end against Southern Utah yeah and I'm not waiting until the third quarter to do it if you truly believe you got the depth to make it to a conference Championship then you truly believe that you can play DN number four five and six and get near the same level of production the slimming down on mental errors and making sure that these guys are in position to force contain and make the plays they need to make so I'm I'm playing them Scotty I'll give the I'll give brt keithy and Logan fono and Lander Barton and all the guys that I lost last year for to season ending injuries I'm playing them through the first quarter but I'm a quick Rotator yeah against Southern Utah all right H and Scotty coming up next we continue on H and Scotty 975 the KSL Sports Zone this is this is DJ and PK here's Derek Carr talking about the best football player he's seen Asam is the best football player I've ever played with he really is he can do everything throws runs catches fullback quarterback tight end receiver slot blocks punts personal protector that man is a Hall of Fame football player no higher praise than that right there Derek Carr pumping up Tamm Hill this whole time he's been wildly underutilized he's a special special athlete there's few athletes to his ability I would say Tamm Hill is the best athlete ever to come out of BYU Football H isn't even close to BYU's best quarterback not saying that that's a different thing you don't come across an athlete like that very often I don't think catch DJ and PK mornings from 6:00 to 10 on 975 the KSL Sports Zone so do we have the salad bar laid out for night Lloyd oh you went Pizza didn't you what's that I said you have the salad bar ready to go for tonight is that what we're thinking salad bar thought that's know he's not going salad bar it's it's going to be all no no mountain no mountain of meat like to go to isn't it is that what we get is the mountain of meat the mountain of meat is what we've done in the past yeah don't make adjustments for Scotty and I no hands and I we'll make it work we're not the bells at a ball yeah we're just we're just not at all the two grunts that show up and ugly up the show we're what they call the afterthoughts yep that's a new name for the show the afterthoughts yeah The afterthoughts Afters podcast the afterthoughts oh I watched a movie I loved last night oh yeah man I loved it I don't know how you guys would like it it's called the bike riders and it's about a the the kind of the origination of biking gangs in the 60s like a documentary or was it a uh drama it's more of a documentary so what they did is they I would like this I can already tell they took this college kid there was there was a college kid that basically took a a stick mic and an old recorder back in the 60s and started going around with this biking game called the vandals in Chicago in in the early 60s and he did a lot of audio documentation with the wife of the head of the actually the wife of the the the second head of the gang yeah and she was a chatter box and so he's got all this audio what they did was they compiled the audio and then built a movie based off of oh some of her recollection but used a lot of her audio in the movie to kind of rebuild it and your actors are Tom Hardy who is one of my favorites yeah he's he's been in a lot of great movies um the one that I know the best from is probably Dunkirk but there's a bunch the guy that played Elvis oh yeah yeah yeah he's he kind of the new Austin something yeah he's kind of the new hot thing in in Hollywood um there's probably four or five other actors that you'd recognize and they just killed this movie and I loved it I just don't know if you'd I think you'd like it but I don't know I give it a shot what's it on Netflix Amazon Amazon all right yeah and it's it's an early it's an early release early buy thing the worst that happens we tell you to give us terrible suggestions is that the worst that could happen well you know I don't get too pushy with my suggestions but I'm gonna call you and yell at you I really like this movie Amanda didn't like it I doesn't surprise me she wasn't so you blamed it on Scotty as what you're saying uh there was some curse words in it oh there was like quite a few she not heard you talk uh yeah yeah but she I you know me very civil kidding you don't don't curse I'm very softly tonged yes um Story coming out of Iowa Iowa head coach Kirk FR and assistant John budm are suspended for one game why because of violation of the recruitment of transfer quarterback Kade mcnamer so when they brought in mcnamer apparently there was a little illegal recruiting going on and uh they got their hand slapped they will miss one game uh because of that they will open up against IL Illinois state so shocker Kirk ference has to miss the Illinois State game because he went out and illegally recruited a quarterback um the reason I bring this up is that I saw this audio this is my new favorite coach I don't know anything about this guy outside of this press conference or not this press conference but he's being interviewed and they're replacing their kicker this is Chuck Martin he is the head coach of the University of Miami Ohio so not a onea school this is an FCS School uh they're out of the Mac um and but yet uh the the guy interviewing him asks him about how's the kicking game going on you know or how's your you got to replace your kicker how's that going and uh it sends him off on a bit of a tangent all right special teams lost your kicker Carter M he's we didn't lose him he's at Alabama we know we know exactly where he's at like again you media people it's all 10 like no Alabama stole our kicker they illegally they illegally recruited our they illegally recruited our kicker and stole him from us and like that's that's a fact but that's that's but we act like it's not we live in this la la world like hey let's not talk I don't know why everybody knows what's going on so yeah Alabama stole our kicker um couple a couple other schools tried to steal it but then they okay what's the question let's talk jeez he was a set of keys we didn't lose him by are getting to a Breaking Point by the way the audio makes it sound like he's angrier than he is he's laughing he's got a big smile on his face this he looks like one of our guys M big dude has a big smile on his face he's laughing the this whole process like he sounds kind of angry the audio but if you see the video you'll be like you know and he just kind of like it is what it is guys it is what it is like can we just accept the fact that that we're a farm team for the P5 and if they if we see a player it's kind of what we talked about yesterday if we work hard and we develop a player uh they're going to swoop in and it wasn't just Alabama a lot of other teams came in and swooped in and they stole our kicker we got our kicker stolen was the media member having a good time with it too or because he his audio sounds like he's he's super awkward he looked really and you could tell he's probably the play-by-play guy he's like yeah I'm not comfortable you know we're not supposed to be talking about this stuff and the guy's like come on let's can we just talk about this yeah because it is what it is says you media guys yeah I always hate when coaches go there but you media guys it's like hey man look we're trying to serve you up yeah if you got something to say then say it you you don't need to call out you media guys just say yeah we did we lost our we lost our kicker and we lost him because Alabama came in and illegally recruited him so what's your question I like that Lloyd's like it's not like you lost your keys yeah it's not like you know you were on a road trip and the kicker never made it back from dang it where is he from Young down state or something like that like but see I always now nowadays I I've always put myself in the shoes of the media person and what's he's supposed to do you lost your kicker to Alabama from illegal recruiting coach I need a comment on this and then you get your credential pulled oh yeah oh yeah absolutely and then you get your hand slapped why are you throwing hard balls why would you come into a question with that type of aggression you're supposed to be a mouthpiece to the organiz blah blah blah and it's like yeah coach um you lost your kicker so how's that going lost our kicker are you kidding me it's illegal recruiting you puke why can't you do your job and you're sitting there thinking um oh okay well because I'm not going to because that's going to get me fired I would like to keep my job yes so I'm trying to do the job the best way I can to keep my job this feels like my last three months yeah oh baby you have walked on some interesting ice yeah you think uh but I I I just I think the reason I wanted to play it is just because I love that coaches are just like you know what let's just let's just be honest about this it is what it is and coaches can sit there and be all like well you know this can't be going on anymore but here's the thing I bet this guy's got dudes on his roster from FBS schools onea schools that he's done the same thing I'm sure like that's I mean I always think it's funny when you'll see a somebody a coach complain but from the from the G5 level but then you look at his roster and you look at oh you got this guy from Montana oh you got this guy from North Dakota oh you got this guy from uh Sacramento State or you got this guy from Montana State like it all runs downhill make no mistake and then Montana State's got somebody from a division 2 school they got somebody from Adam State like everybody's doing it everybody's doing it and again just because you lost your guy doesn't mean that you aren't doing the same thing to a school below you like it's just a complete Feeding Frenzy out there so maybe let's dial down the moral High Ground a little bit because frankly when it comes to this stuff if you ain't cheating you're not doing your job well that's why I'm bugged about fence getting any type of suspension because everybody's doing it to a certain extent and now it makes me wonder what Kirk Forin did did he just blatantly put an email out there that's accessible by every school administrator did he accidentally CC the entire fan base and did he accidentally CC NCAA offices because what could he have done that's so egregious with with K mcamera that is going to get him and his wide receivers coach a a game suspension we know everybody's doing this crap he must have done something stupid because stupid yeah I mean that's that's probably why he needs to get suspended is because he was a about something but I it's not Kirk Forin doesn't even coach for BYU so I'm surprised that he got caught a now NCAA swear some of the things they've imposed on BYU is that's dumbest thing I've ever seen the Brandon Davies thing was probably the worst or the no sorry the the Nick Emy thing wasn't it that where they took away Dave Rose winds uh yeah the one that was seemed really excessive was the was it Yoli child's who signed something with an agent and then came back to the school and and Yoli had to sit out it was Yoli TRS but the one that got me was that well yeah was ripping Dave R WIS yeah that's what because of because of Nick Emery yeah like punish punish Emery yes don't punish Dave Rose how you g to come at the legend yeah they need to reinstitute it too which they did that with the Heisman and Reggie Bush in USC yeah I'm with you on that 100% all right 1248 H and Scotty coming up next uh what you may have missed um and then in the 1:00 hour continue get you ready for the start of the college football season folks one week from today hands one week from today Utah opens up against Southern Utah right here on 975 the EK KSL Sports Zone 3 2 1 it's five star painting on your home of the best college football coverage in Utah 975 the KSL Sports s you're locked on to Suson and Scotty CH that's right on 975 the KSL Sports show [Music] hands in Scotty 975 the KSL Sports Zone time for another addition of what you may have missed as the soap opera that is Utah State football and Athletics continues on Utah State former Utah State head coach Blake Anderson sent out a tweet yesterday that said below is a press release prepared by my attorney to address my POS position moving forward and some of the concerns circulating in the media thank you and this is a note that comes from burnson cwell the attorney's office and I'm only going to read the first part of this it says the former head coach of Utah State University Blake Anderson is preparing to file suit after USU unexpectedly and wrongfully terminated his position coach Anderson has released local legal counsel within the community LLC and a complaint for breach of contract and other wrongful acts taken by USU in being pre are are being prepared coach Anderson is particularly mindful of the numerous inaccurate statements that have been made by usu's new administrators including athletic director Diana Sabel regarding not only coach Anderson's termination but also usu's character and culture as a whole coach Anderson takes this opportunity to rectify these misguided and harmful inaccuracies it it does go on for another four paragraphs that kind of accentuate what that first paragraph was all about yep and it also identified the differences between Blake Anderson and the administrators that were fired including Jerry bovie and why it's different and how they're going to go about legal pursuance yeah there's uh there's a grievance process that Amy Crosby and bie have available to them that it's not available to Blake Anderson right and it's very pointed he feels like there was a shmir campaign for his name and and it's harming his ability to move forward as a coach there's there's no doubt that that as a coach if there's Title Nine issues in your wake it is really going to damage your ability to get future employment Now Blake Anderson is going to say those Title 9 issues should not exist and he's trying to clear his name you toate on the other hand is saying no they very much did exist and that's why we had to part ways with you in early July and uh and I look forward to I I I guess I gota be the right way to say this like I want to see more information come to light today like I want to see the discovery process we've seen some of the reports that have come out uh but I want to see more I think I I for both sides you know if I'm Utah State I want to release more information if I'm Blake Anderson he probably wants more information released I want to see everything laid out on a table so we all know exactly what went on for good or for bad whether it's Blake screwed up or whether Utah State overreached I want to know one way or another on this so we can all just kind of put the whole thing to bed and move on in the meantime a bunch of attorneys get very rich wo you ain't a kidding about that one the billable hours that are coming from this yeses we all know that the at the end of the day on major District agreements yes it's the attorneys that Prosper yep yep those are the real winners ain't cheap but this is a very pointed release I did retweet it if you want to look at it in its entirety you can go check it out at 975 Hance I just retweeted the Blake Anderson tweet that has the link to the document hands and Scotty right here on 975 the ekl Sports Zone looking for the latest on the Jazz Utes cougars and Aggies we've got you covered this is H Olsen and Scotty G on 975 ESP Sports up [Music] sh [Music] [Music] down9 H Olsson Scott Gerard 975 the KSL Sport Zone kicking off your 1:00 hour how would you go about scheduling your non-conference in the Big 12 uh uh because you know there are wild cards out there yeah I would so do you got to put a resume together or will your big 12 record be enough for the Wild Card gra probably not in the Big 12 the SEC gets that luxury but the big 12 does not if I'm in the big 12y I still do the the old Chris Hill ABC schedule I have one a team one B team and one C team how high will you go with your a team um because I'm looking at Utah's future schedules yeah we mentioned the Miami game and that Miami game is coming up in 2027 so 20125 your a is UCLA your B is Wyoming but then that's at Wyoming I know it's so dumb Utah's going to Wyoming Wyoming in backtack GE is getting by why does Wyoming have do they have dirty pictures of somebody here in the state of Utah I think that they've got dirty filthy pictures and willing cut loose at a little bar there me lar me and they're like hey you want these pictures to come out no you're going to be doing a home in home with us so you know the ny's diners that's connected to Chevron that's just off the freeway exit by the stick that comes down when we got too much snow yeah uh it's right next to the Perkins there was a trip that your team had back in 200 five did you not see the little sign that that says camera smile and it looks like you'll be coming to our campus both you and BYU yeah yeah you gotta bring BYU with you too so UCLA's the a Wyoming is the B calp is the C then 2026 Arkansas is the a Utah state is the B Idaho is the C 2027 Miami is the a Wyoming is the B and they'll probably add an FCS team in there 2028 Wisconsin is the a they need to find be Utah Tech is the C you got Arkansas in 29 you got UCLA in 30 you got LSU in 31 you got LSU in 32 and you got Wisconsin in 33 so there is an a scheduled yeah on every one of these and it and it ranges from LSU which is going to be a really tough place to go play to Wisconsin which is a tough place to go play night to play to Arkansas which I found to be one of my that was my favorite stop of the year last year uh doesn't surprise at Arkansas was my favorite stop of the year yeah I can toally people the tailgating the food that was the weather was it muggy beautiful weather oh really oh Perfection that was early in the season it was probably a a nice 802 to wasn't sweltering though was not sweltering it was so nice Scotty and the Press Box was box was great and everything about it was just perfection to me and then the game was incredible yes great game BYU was able to get that final stop and get the win is that the one road game they won that last year did they win another road game I should know that sorry I hate I hate it when I put you on the Kansas West Virginia no um TCU no it might have been at Arkansas then you lost at Kansas at TCU at Texas at West Virginia at Oklahoma yep that the one one game they won on the road it well maybe that's why it was great memorable for me because it's it's always fun to walk away with a win uh good food on that trip had to be good food oh it was the best food so that's where I got that Dino bone oh yeah that beef rib yeah that was about a foot and a half long and was like I'm GNA try to do those it's like 50 bucks but I ate on it for a good 45 minutes yeah Ju Just did not on that that loose flaky buttery just no there's that's a that's a ribeye on a yeah on a stick it is and it's just full of all kinds of great fatty flavors and anyways yeah the Arkansas meal was the best meal we had all year so I I loved it but and and Utah fans if you get a chance get out to that Arkansas venue that'll be 2029 you get Arkansas at ricecel stadium in 2026 but Scotty I'm just trying to figure out what the best way to go about this is and I don't know if I schedule to make sure that I'm healthy that I'm a little bit tested but not overly tested that I don't have a loss because here's the deal if I am GNA get the wild card and I'm not the big 12 champion and I've got a loss to Arkansas but I've got a win against everybody except for the Big 12 Champion yeah I'm out if I've got three wins against Southern Utah Utah State and Appalachian State you're out but I win every game except for that big 12 champion in that big 12 championship game and it keeps you out of the championship game yeah I'm 12 in no I lose in that championship game so I don't play them through the the oh you'll be in you'll be in so that that's my point like yeah that I think is your structure to get to the college football playoffs as a wild card out of the Big 12 but you cannot have an out of conference loss and then a big 12 championship game loss all right so let's say I don't know man you're probably right okay so let's say Utah who who's their a next year a next year is UCLA okay that that would that would that's a bad loss if they lose the UCLA um what's the next year Arkansas AD R cyes let's go LSU the year they let's say they lose to LSU okay okay so week one week two of the season they lose to LSU they run the table up until the conference Championship game and they lose to a top 15 Kansas State team good game right down to the wire Utah finishes the year at 11-2 with LSU with LSU at the beginning of the season and a close loss to nationally ranked Kansas State who punches their ticket with the auto bid I think they still get in yeah I think um it depends on how LSU looked the rest of the way there's a lot of factors there but you're right the safe route would be go easy in your first three games because you start stacking a bunch of wins now look Florida state is a blue blood and everybody loves Florida State but they got left out last year as an undefeated a team so it's not as if that committee isn't opposed to making a statement and they may make a statement on you because you scheduled light but it seems like that might be a safer route to go than otherwise well the other thing we got to pay close attention to so it's expanded to 12 teams and there's a lot of conversation that in just a short time it'll be 16 16 yeah if it goes to 16 then go crazy then go crazy yeah if it goes to 16 then yeah lost to LSU and it lost to Kansas State in the championship game you're probably one of the 16 my biggest fear right now is that the SEC and the Big 10 are going to control six of those 12 spots yes and they will they'll control the two than not those two conferences will control half of those spots the ACC will probably get two uh the Big 12 will get two before the ACC you feel like that yeah because I look I look at Florida State getting good now and Clemson and Miami and it I guess it depends on what the brands are yeah but I could definitely see the ACC demanding I if you look at a conference that's got more leverage right now the Big 12 or the ACC I think the big 12's higher on the pecking order than the ACC is now that might have shifted with Oklahoma and Texas out of the conference but I don't know ACC man I'm still looking at them getting you know Florida State getting bumped from last year's playoff and not getting a shot but you're right Florida State Clemson I mean there's some there's some blue bloods in there the ACC recently picking up Cal they picked up Stanford and they picked up SMU SMU well they didn't pick them up SMU bought their way in yes they did SMU money well spent by will not take any money what do you you want us to do yeah we want you to rebuild your campus okay we want you not to take a single dollar of TV money okay for how long possibly ever I I don't know I don't know I don't know what the conversation was but yes sir can I have another so some of your big hitters in the SEC or ACC just so everybody's familiar you got Clemson Florida State Miami they're always going to be the big hitters but then you've got secondary level like NC State Virginia Tech Virginia and then you know you start to climb in those other levels Stanford and Cal and Boston College and you could probably throw Louisville in the second and in between the second and third tiers yeah so there's some really good teams in there are you meaning more towards like the acc's instability because that's what feels ug to me yeah I don't think well Florida state is going to be out of the ACC here pretty soon there's just a story today about how um you know they're they're they're getting all the mediation and they can to try to get out somehow some way shape or form whether they've got to go to Saudi Arabia and get some of that money they're getting private Equity money from somewhere to be able to get themselves out of that conference so longterm Florida State's not going to be in there and as soon as Florida State finds a way to leave Clemson won't be too far behind which means that North Carolina and some of these other schools are going to be jumping ship too so I look I don't even think the ACC exists here pretty soon I think they they go the way of the Pack 12 and right now the ACC is a 17 comp 17 team conference and they have some really solid teams as Scotty mentioned that want to get out so that's why you've heard yourm Mark be extremely aggressive yeah your mark I don't think he'd bat an i to go to a 24 team conference oh yeah I think he'd do it in a second 100% I think I think he should too when I think it would be just inner conference play yep and to your point where it's like an NFL schedule yeah where you just line it up and say okay guess what this team finished seventh in their division this team finished second and this is what your schedules are going to look like going into next year and how sweet would that be for BYU and Utah to have rotational games with Clemson Florida State you know even if you had to grab some of the secondary level out of there with Virginia Tech and Virginia and you intertwine these schedules now here's the great thing you go to your TV and streaming providers and you say well we don't have to Outer League distribute any of this we get to keep all of our revenue and so if we can build a Clemson versus Florida State in the same week that we have a Utah versus Miami in the same week where we have a Arizona versus Oklahoma State or whatever whatever that combination is you could put some really good games together I think you could get yeah I think you could get yourself to and what a basketball conference a financial level that take you take you take the best basketball conference in the country and you times it by two it would be if you added those AC it would be the Undisputed it it would be it's ridiculous it'd be tough but it would be fun to play inside of that conference oh yeah absolutely it'd be fun to play football inside of that conference it's a good that's a fun Football Conference uh right now if you asked me what conference I would like to play in if I was a high school player coming out right now I'd much rather play in the Big 12 yes because first of all I'm a western boy and I love Western footprint and the big 12's got a really nice West Western footprint footprint and then you know you saw it up close the stadiums are packed every week and that's one thing that I think Utah's fans are going to be surprised when with you know if you if you're a Utah fan and you're making a lot of road trips with your team and you're used to showing up at Cal and Stanford and and uh Oregon State and Washington State and some of these other schools that even when they fill their Stadium there's not it's not a big Stadium you're going to go to lck and all of a sudden be like wait a minute this team's not even that good and yet this place is a mad house you're going to go to Oklahoma State and you're going to get absolutely Blown Away by the atmosphere week in and week out in the Big 12 that you didn't get in the Pack 12 I mean that that had have been fun for you just seeing that up close and in person because you know you go you go to Kansas which I mean Kansas is better now but they don't have some rich football tradition there at Kansas and that place was crazy last year it was great it was so good and I think that Utah fans are probably going to travel pretty well too they should they absolutely should because these are fun games they're tougher venues to get to yeah they're a little bit more of a traveling nightmare because you're GNA sleep in a hotel that's an hour away from the venue yeah and you're going to have some that are an hour and 45 two hours if you make Greg reel come and get you You' be two hours if you've youve got a ride share and they think that you're in Lawrence but you're actually next to the airport that might be caused for contion among family members but some of the scheduling would be so much fun I'm hoping that Utah and BYU fans are getting out to that Central Florida game go out and see Orlando go out and experience what that's all about that's going to be a blast out there but you're right the fan bases they they crowd in and when you roll into a like you throw in D Sanders in a Colorado venue that's unpredictable but could be something great if they stick with it and they start to win a little bit Colorado would be one of the toughest places to go play yeah I mean you can tell when they had a little bit of excitement and they fill up a stadium for a spring game yeah you can tell that's a you know that that's a that's a pipe bomb ready to go off no Lloyd I tried I I was trying to think of something else to say but uh not not to mention the piece that Ross delinger put out for Sports Illustrated on Trevor Riley yeah and what Trevor Riley was trying to do with Colorado if you haven't read this piece I did retweet the piece again Ross Dinger did a fantastic job with Trevor Riley and Trevor was trying to get into the Saudi funds for nil purposes at Colorado because Trevor's smart he went and sought the same leadership that just opened up the live tour he went to Saudi Arabia and sat down to try to negotiate an nil purchase with Dion Sanders and the Colorado Buffalo and and according to Ross's piece he also went to every one of his quote unquote Mormon Mormon friends and sought nil distribution for Colorado because he really wanted to put he essentially he's saying that's the way you compete now yeah oh yeah and Dion knows that yep and you know he he gave some specifics in this Ross delinger piece it's that's fantastic I'd encourage people to go read it and that's what Dion's trying to do now from what Ross's piece stated there was that his entire plan got dropped and they hired some other institution to build Nils and it ticked him off and so he left which I I totally understand which is a very Trevor Riley like it is like Trevor's not GNA concede to anybody no no and he's got better things to do at this time that's why I love Trevor oh he's such a and he still has my driver he's such a one of a kind he is such a one of a kind and and I would if I'm the Utah football program I'm calling him and I'm saying hey come here tell us what you learned there with your Nils yep and we don't need to hear anything about football wise just yeah we don't care about that no no I don't give a two squirts on that like doesn't matter but what what what you find in Saudi Arabia yeah and what' you find with your Mormon friends hey what Mormon friends was there money there and how much I would because Scotty Trevor's right Kyle Whittingham echoed that Kyle said the top 25 is gonna resemble the top 25 in payouts yes yep uh there is a coach here um that uh referenced um that a win in a power five conference is going to cost you a million dollars and that's now and that's now so if you want a 10- win season you're going to need 10 million in nil money for your football team and what's wild about this there are no caps right now yeah and I think that that's Trevor's Point yep there's no caps no so let's go to Saudi Arabia let's tap in let's go to where the money really is where it's literal trillions yes and let's get get every major transfer and every five-star recruit because we can there's nothing stopping us yeah so let's get all of this money and let's build the dynasty until they shut us down and then we all win and we all become famous and we all get these contracts that are life altering you'll never work again that's his point yeah because let's be honest like John caliper is considered an elite coach in college basketball guess what you talk to people who know the game of basketball they say John caliper is a very mediocre ex's andos coach what John caliper does is he goes out and finds the best talent and brings in the best talent you and I can coach look like really good coaches when we have the best talent it's when you don't have the best talent is when you are evaluated as a coach that's absolutely right and so if you've got I talked to a college coach once he goes look I could go to Idaho state if you give me unlimited nil money I'll go to poell I'll win you a national championship every year that's absolutely right if I have unlimited money because kids used to be all swayed by the facilities and the practice facilities and the jerseys and all the goodies that were around now they they just want cash in their pocket they'll play in a barn in TOA if you give them enough cash in their back pocket that's all they care about it's all they care about which was if I were I'm not hating on the player too I'd be the same way now you got to have two parts to this you got to have a guy that can secure the money yes from the Saudi Arabians or the Church of Jesus Christ of latterday saints yeah and then you got to have the guy that can truly identify the toal that can that can see oh okay he's a five star but is he a five star he's a four star is he a four- star did he is he just KN out his fifth star yeah is he a three star and he underrated and and you go and spot the greatest talent in the world and then what do you want I need three million fine done that's it I thought you were GNA ask for more three million guy goes into the transfer portal what do what do you want quarter you know what do you want or he doesn't even have intentions to go to the transfer portal but you let that person out oh we're Saudi backed yeah is it dirty hell yeah it's dirty is it nasty money yeah it's nasty money it's still money but is every major sport in the United States of America trying to get it from the Saudi Arabians right now yes they are who's the latest PGA guy that was like I'm not taking the live money I'm not taking the live money and then he's like no I'm taking the live money it just got too much was that R was it col Montgomery who was the oh was it de Shambo was it Bryson wasn't it there was was it ROM yeah Rah was the guy was like I'm not you know come on this is ridiculous BL and then all of a sudden he's like H wait a minute they added another zero to the end of that number look we all have our price we all have our number this Ross ninger piece is is really good and it's very telling and there is a point to it yeah okay BYU's got access to a lot of money and it used to be well yeah but they don't spend privious they are very strict with how they spend well how watching them build a basketball program that feels like it's a lot of money yep so make sure that colan's got that money H exactly and if there's access to it let him have access and let him go get every portal player and every four and five star guy because he could do it clani is gifted he could do it yeah all right hands of Scotty 975 the KSL Sports Zone when it comes to high school football KSL has you covered don't miss the Game and Scotty G on 975 the KSL Sports Zone [Music] hands at Scotty on a Thursday 975 the KSL Sports Zone CUO k I like it good good poll on this one Lloyd's trying to give you a little hint as to who your uh who your selection is today h it's really good Lloyd well done did you help him with this I did okay I sent him the Audio I sent them the the music okay no don't look at me that way you don't need to look at me that way no I feel like I missed an email sorry because that happens is that the one you would have gone with uh uh oh yeah for sure absolutely if I had to pick a song for a player yep well you wouldn't have gone with is it Andre 5000 Andre 1000 what's Andre no 3,000 no 3,000 3,000 yeah no I think yeah no he he chose wisely here all right so let's get to it let's not waste any time it is number seven in our top 16 60 this is the top 60 and 60 6 as the Zone counts you down to the start of the 2024 college football season and now it's time for today's selection as voted on by the local sports media and you the fans our next selection has steadily improved every year since arriving in Provo and he'll anchor the cougar defensive backfield as the BYU defense looks to improve in 2024 checking in at number seven from Brigham Young University 5'1 170lb defensive B Jacob Robinson briam Young University head coach Kanani sataki Jacob Robinson super fast he has this this Knack of just being around the ball and making big plays not afraid to to throw his body into there and and hit people just understands the game a lot more than people think and he's got this Natural Instinct about him in the game and understanding the the the concept of what offenses are trying to do it's such a pleasure to coach this is the top 60 and 60 presented by five-star painting on 975 the KSL Sports Z all right hands coming in at number seven Jacob Robinson from BYU who again started his career at Utah State with Gary Anderson after Gary was dismissed and made his way to Provo and every year just seems to get a little bit better a little bit better to the point now where you predicted at the end of the show last uh yesterday when we were um previewing this selection you think he'll be first team all Big 12 this year he should be and if he's not first it'll be second but I think he and Zaya Von should occupy two of the corner spots in the all Big 12 selections at the end of the season that that's how good Jacob Robinson is agreed and I can't wait to see if BYU can up the quarterback pressure because they were able to get picks without quarterback well there was some quarterback pressure but without the sacks without the image of being a demonstrative defense and he was still able to get the interceptions so add a little bit of confusion in the back field and and maybe it bumps more but Jacob Robinson is such the proper owner of number seven yeah good spot for him I think this is the right fit in terms of the selection I think that this is uh the face of your BYU defense this year honestly is there anybody else that comes to mind maybe Tyler batty just him and baddy yeah are your top two returning Defenders I mean Kevin Reynolds had a good story in the Tribune about BYU is putting a lot of faith in these guys because they lost some players and they're staying in their own ranks oh they're running it back and they're just running it back oh they're running it back there's no question they're running it back they did not go get portal guys it's Tyler bad and it's Jacob Robinson Jacob Robinson and then you're looking at guys that you saw last year it's Isaiah Vanya it's you know look Loui may be a little bit more of a of an unknown but they you saw them last year oh yeah so you know what you're getting from these guys what you're getting from skover yeah you know what you're getting from mangelson you know what you're getting from John Nelson so it's a big- Time run back this was not an overhaul no nope and that might be to the Chagrin of some BYU fans or might pay off it could could yeah you've changed up well you've brought in some extension to a coaching staff you've got different Minds in the room that are helping with different techniques yeah and maybe different discipline and so maybe we see a jump uh guess what we're only a couple weeks away from finding out I can't wait but you know what you're G to get from Jacob robins and that's what's great and the thing is I what really impressed me about him and the rest of that defensive backfield they were able to be extremely productive last year for the most part at the corner safety was a little bit of an issue but at the corners I thought that position group played really well cons especially considering BYU didn't have a pass rush those dudes were on an island a lot last year and for the most part played pretty well all right time for your Good the Bad and the Ugly it's time to saddle up and talk about the winners and the losers this is The Good the Bad and the Ugly now here's the good good the bad the ugly brought to you by RGS exteriors and construction OB with quality results hands let's start with the good all right KY Whittingham had a couple of things to say in his final media availability yesterday in regards to Camp evaluation and changes and reduction in injury I'm going to read you this quote and then I'm going to talk about what we saw last year as compared to this year he said we did the study and the results put them on paper and we're about 70% less injuries this Camp then last Camp so we did something right this Camp there's a combination of things I don't think it's any one thing but the approach we took definitely lent itself to less injuries so I actually had grabbed a couple of notes that I put down for Utah season ending injuries last year now this wasn't just Camp related this was season related but Lander Barton maai Bernard Chris now maai Bernard did come back in the bowl game yeah he did but Chris Curry Logan fono Brant keithy cam Rising Tom Thomas ymin was out a lot of the year with injury guys that missed time Johnny MAA Conor otou simote Peppa Karan Reed Smith Snowden Junior tuna van finger this was what you dealt with last year and Kyle said no more we'll self-evaluate he told you that when you asked the question Big 12 media days they did the evaluation and they ran it through at Camp some of their ideas and processes and had 70% in reduction now that's 70% from an I think a majorly increased Camp injury season but regardless seeing any reduction yeah is a blessing for the University of Utah especially considering the not just the amount of players but the I don't want to say quality but the the the Star level of the players that they lost last year yeah I mean they lost the who when you lose keithy when you lose Barton when you lose tuna when you lose Rising I mean that the fact that honestly that team won as many games they did last year is a Real Testament to that coaching staff it is because it was a better Pack 12 too oh yeah you know it was a better better league and losing Chris Curry and when you really needed some running back depth and help yep there were so many things that happened that you just shake your head and think what the heck but that's what gives you so much excitement for this season because you've got those names back there's your good let's get to the bad now the bad I put this story on here hands cuz I know how angry you get at times when it comes to thieves well there was a porch pirate in Memphis and he saw a lot of packages on a house and he said you know what don't mind if I do here's the story from Memphis unto as to who exactly he robbed meantime it appears no one is immune to the crime in Memphis not even Memphis royalty we uncovered reports of a porch pirate in East Memphis only to learn the victim is none other than u ofm basketball coach Penny Hardway and while the culprit may think he struck gold for him it may be Fool's Gold here's wg's Ashley Paul a porch pirate in East Memphis may have thought he hit a slam dunk during an early evening theft back on August 8th you can see him in these photos released by The Memphis Police Police Department stacking big boxes on top of a shopping cart WG obtained the police report for the case only to learn those packages are not just any packages they belong to the University of Memphis basketball coach Penny Hardaway the police report did not offer much more information so we reached out to Penny himself who needless to say is not happy about the foul play your news leader was first to report that inside those boxes is 26 pairs of exclusive one-of-a-kind foam posit sneakers Hardaway told WG that these shoes are not sold in stores and cannot be purchased by the general public and if you take a look at the photo provided by Hardaway himself the sneakers are pretty unique looking so in a plea from Penny himself he's asking the public to be on the ball and if you see anyone wearing them to report them as stolen right away as for the culprit he's still running away from Court criminal court at 2011 popler so if you see him please contact Crimestoppers at 528 cash for your newsleader I'm Ashley Paul so uh these are very expensive very exclusive shoes that were sent to Penny Hardway and if you in fact let me uh let me let me see so this dude now penny look Penny's a big deal there in uh in Memphis and the fact that some Rando can just randomly show up at Penny hardaway's house hands with a shopping cart and haul away boxes of shoes from Penny hardaway's front porch the head coach of the University of Memphis it's going to be losing his mind he's got to be just beyond upset well Memphis has got a real crime issue oh yeah high level crime issue and until they start really imposing major penalty for these types of things people are going to continue to risk it for the biscuit they're they're going to put it out there the dude went to Penny hardaway's house with a shopping cart and just started stacking boxes and rolled them out without in the middle of this is daylight this is like in noon and people can't see the image but the boxes are piled at least three feet above this man's head yes so it's a lot lives in a very nice neighborhood a guy starts going in there with a shopping cart how does this how does this guy like he can get away with it and then actually did get away with it and here's the stupid thing they're all SI his neighbors his neighbors must hate him oh here's the stupid thing they're all size 14 so there's not a lot of 14s in this world and they're all a unique shoe somebody's going to find it you're looking for a size 14 you got a unique shoe and it looks How many pairs were there uh 20 something 20 20 20 some odd pairs you're going to find that's like when that person stole Shawn Bradley's bike out of his barn yeah somebody actually went into Shawn Bradley's barn and stole a bike that was custom made for a 7 foot6 frame yeah couldn't exactly ride that thing that thing himself out not even if he had stilts on the guy probably had to walk it out and the whole time was like what am I doing oh boy and then probably was thinking I got to give this back because this is going to lead right to me yeah because I I can't ride this thing around porch Pirates driving nuts yeah this is the type of story to get and by the way they're the worst of the worst well okay so why are we not imposing heavier penalty when we find these idiots I'm with you on that well because it's the state and taxpayers dollars okay so we let him get away with it because what we don't want to put more into some level of inst investigation porch piracy hardly gets investigated anymore no you can send images to the police office and you can this person was on my porch well just put it on your local Facebook page and yeah hope that somebody produces a name hold on this is an image he stole $350 right off my porch I am a taxpaying citizen a lot of my money goes to your support as an officer or as a law enforcement institution find this guy well that would be an independent investig I don't find him and then let's make it I thought you were going somewhere else find him and let's make it really hard on these guys when they finally decide I'm so desperate for drugs I'm just going to go take this package off his porch well uh you know look I and I I make fun of Lloyd a little bit but but when my bag was stolen from my car at my house um had my laptop in it now I have a uh find my device and when that laptop got fired up I was able to track it and so I told the police I'm like hey here's I've got the address where my laptop is and you know what they said it's an apartment complex we can't go and I'm like it was a fourplex like there's four just knock on four doors no we can't we can't actually do that cuz it's it's there's multiple residences oh man now fortunately I was able to lock the computer and put a nice little message on there and I found it dumped in outside of a dumpster you did but yeah they dumped it yeah they dumped it because they got nervous I wrote police are on their way they weren't police are on their way and they put the address yeah I did yep hands and Scotty 975 the ekl Sports Zone a little whole world news next right here on the Zone ladies and gentlemen may I present this is JJ and Alex you may be right we saw Jake Retzloff and we saw what happened last year in the four games 10 and4 the Oklahoma pass the interception at the goal line was brutal if you start seeing that kind of stuff again and he's the guy and you've got a a senior on your bench that won a big 12 Championship maybe you pull the trigger a little quick maybe I'm wrong there but 95% of the time you have got to make a choice that's what Camp's for that's what spring into Camp is for decide who your guy is make that choice let him go out there and do it and don't be in his head all the time about making a mistake cuz he will not be able to make place for you we wish you the best of luck if you fumble this ball once you're gone reminds me of high school football catch JJ and Alex afternoons from 3 to 6 presented by G2G bars on 975 the KSL Sports Zone go it's time to span the globe for the hard-hitting news you care about well not really but hey at least we found it interesting this is whole world news on 975 the SL sport s We Got the Whole World in our hands You Got the Whole World in our hands we got the whole world in our hands we got the whole world in our hands we got the whole world in our hand you got you and me brother and Scotty 975 the KSL Sports Zone time for another edition of of whole world news all right hands we're going to go to California right there on the border US Customs and Border Protection officers in California discovered well let's just say a guy was coming through and uh had a big old truck and they said what are you hauling in he goes watermelons okay they like all right well guess what we need to uh we need to take a look at that uh those watermelons so he's like you sure he's like yeah yeah we got to look at him so unfortunately he has to open up the back of his truck and he sees and they see a bunch of essentially papier-mâché those are Terri that are painted green with some darker green stripes in them and with some packaging tape all around the middle of it it's a poor effort this was a very poor effort to try to dis uh disguise huge packets of methamphetamines as watermelon it obviously didn't disguise and didn't um you know didn't surprise anybody they knew what was going on hands $5 million worth of meth that they were able to reel in coming from where coming from Mexico on its way to California in these packages that were poorly disguised as a watermelon if you're going to have $5 million worth of meth at least buy some real watermelon and then just core it out and at least try to put some kind of effort to make this look real but this is as about a bad as a disguise job as you'll ever see some really dumb criminals out there with $5 million worth of meth yeah that's not how I would do it I wasn't going to say anything to you Lloyd I just thought I'd beat you there I no n that's not how I would do it if it was me I would Lloyd look at this that's what they tried to it's bad and look look how look how many of them they have wow that is a bad job that's $5 million worth of meth right there so at one point I saw a number I don't know if this number still holds and I I don't know it probably changes with each Administration and what we do to try to stop drugs from coming from Mexico specifically but at one point I did see a stat that it was we se's one out of 20 tries and I think that's probably you know if you're a drug p drug King down in Mexico you're like look you know what I got a 5% chance of getting caught or a 10% chance I'm just going to keep flooding it and I'm going to come out on top for every shipment I get snagged but we're gonna miss on a $5 million shipment I'm gonna send 50 million in yeah yeah it was uh that was the last number I've I can remember seeing and I think it was on a specific drug if I'm not mistaken it wasn't overall drug shipment but you got to imagine yeah we get our hits when we can get our hits but that's just an indicator of what is coming across our no I think drugs are free flowing into oh yeah yeah um no in fact last night last week I had whole world news I didn't get to it but there was another story where same thing California they snagged hundreds of thousands of dollars of cocaine and it was wrapped around or they had celery stocks wrapped around these packages of cocaine so again that's not how I would do it how would you do it yeah what are your ideas so what has worked for you this is one I saw that I thought was brilliant it's a Coca-Cola bottle yeah and from the label up to the cap is an actual bottle it's a container and you can see the liquid moving around and then between the label oh and the bottom is just dark yeah like it would be Coke but you can screw the bottom of that off and you can pack that with drugs the manipulation the deception the methods that these drug kingpins can use to disguise the smell away from sniffing dogs to get it over the border the things they do are just wild this one not this is almost like we were trying to get caught yeah I I think they're like they sent some dude that they were trying to get pinched yeah that he's like hey his his his wife's brother is like I need a job and you're like I don't want to give I don't want to give him a job no he needs a job okay fine I'll give him a job and then you're like all right you know what let's get this guy pinched get him out of my hair yeah all right hands of Scotty Dave's hanging out with us americafirst.com hey uh we talk about things around the house um last time you you and I final hour of the program next right here on the [Music] Zone peace when you are done lay your we head to rest don't you cry no more [Music] Hansen Scotty 975 the KSL Sports Zone time to talk a little Kansas football you know what there are very few programs that have had quite the turnaround of Kansas Lance lipold is one of the more entertaining coaches to watch in terms of his offensive system and uh joining us now the play-by-play voice of Kansas Brian Haney kind enough to join us Brian how you doing hey Brian doing great fellas thanks for having me on thank you for the carry on my wayward son bump back music you probably didn't know this but the band Kansas actually went to my same high school to P West High School predating Me by about 20 years but still awesome tune classic band thanks for the intro is that the most famous group or most famous person from your school outside outside of Brian outside of you I'm probably like 27th on the list now we we've produced a couple decent broadcasters a few coaches but nobody bigger than the band Kansas that's definitely Tops on the list well it's got to be interesting for you to see this turnaround um I remember um Lance Li I've been a big fan of his you know for a while and when he got that Kansas job I thought oo Kansas may have gotten it right and boy did they ever get it right it's got to be fun for you to be part of this turnaround and see how good this program's become all of a sudden yeah the fifth time proved to be a charm for KU and getting it right obviously this was a program that had it rolling under Mark mangino and then the wheels fell off pretty quickly and Turner Gil was a swing in a miss here obviously Charlie Weiss didn't work out here and they were stuck in scholarship Purgatory for years because of what happened with the scholarship mismanagement in the Weiss era which really made it hard on David Batty and Les Miles to follow and then they finally got out from underneath the scholarship mess that they were in and miles did a pretty good job of stocking the cupboard maybe more full than we realized at the time a lot of the stars that have helped lifeold win 15 games these last two years were less miles recruits but Lance has cultivated that Talent developed it even more and he's added in a ton of great pieces in his own recruiting classes both through the High School ranks but also the transfer portal where he's been very effective and it's it's quite a culture shift we went from three four years ago when the portal was first becoming a thing thinking oh no anytime we have a player of any kind of value an SEC team is going to swoop in and steal them away kind of like Kansas basketball does on that side of the coin now they've been able to to keep the key players that are most valuable to this roster construct while also adding some big time pieces each and every offseason these last three years under Li hold and so we went from a state of mind of kind of defensiveness protecting what little we had to now adding to it building upon it and you add to the 15 wins in the last two years in back-to-back bowl games the fact that they now have a $450 million brand new football stadium coming next year things are just night and day different than they were this time four years ago and it just feels like a breath of fresh air because we haven't felt this way about football in over a decade and a half and you couple that with the preseason number one ranked basketball team and this could truly to be one of the most anticipated and special years in the history of Kansas Sports not just KU football so Brian last year Greg and I marched into that Stadium feeling pretty confident about those BYU Cougars they were three and0 coming into that Kansas Stadium having just beat Arkansas in a really nice final drive stopping Arkansas and KJ Jefferson and showing some defensive ability they'd had a nice shutout game to start the season they put up 41 points on another opponent and feeling pretty good and we walk into that Stadium knowing that Kansas was going to be a tough opponent and I watched Jaylen Daniels and I watched Devin nil systematically dismantle BYU and put up 38 points and that was the last game you saw Jaylen Daniels uh and I was kind of surprised and bummed to see him not return but I thought holy cow this team is very tough you get Jaylen Daniels back you've got Devin Neil back as Scotty's mentioned coach lold and and his his Football Genius just how good do you feel like this team is gonna be well h i i remember uh the surprise we all felt that day when Kansas came out on top by double knowing how good B you was a year ago and yet it made you feel like maybe this was the start of something special and now as you fast forward a season later and you look at 30 returning seniors they've been building for this particular year for a while and it's the culmination of not just those less miles recruits and Lance lifeold editions and cultivating of talent that I talked about earlier but to call it like it is there's guys on this roster that would not have still been playing college football were it not for the additional covid season and so I know BYU's used to having some guys a little bit longer in the tooth in terms of age we're not used to having guys that have been in the same program for five years together but that's the case with almost all of the skill position Talent Jaylen Daniels you referenced his back at quarterback he's got his top three receivers he's got two of his top three tight ends coming back the only skill position player they lost is now on the New Orleans Saints preseason roster Mason Fairchild the tight end otherwise they're all back and you mentioned the kid I call real deal Dev and Neil he is special he's a guy that I think early in his career you know he wasn't quite as physically imposing he was always fast you give him a little bit of daylight he'd squirt right through that hole now I think he's stronger he can bounce off of you he can run by you he is absolutely a Bonafide third round or higher NFL draft pick in next year's draft class and Daniel haaw is right there with him as a great one-w punch that also brings some pop and some physicality to his running style as well so all of that talent's back they have two five-star offensive linemen one is a transfer from Wisconsin and Logan Brown the other's a five star transfer from Texas A&M so while they lost a couple of the guys to graduation and the NFL up front they've replenished that offensive line stock tremendously it really comes down to two things you had a change at OC Jeff Grimes taking over for Andy codal Micki who left for Penn State is that a seamless transition we hope it will be because honestly they're not changing a ton in terms of the language or the scheme and with that much returning Talent offensively if it ain't broke don't fix it at 37 points per game but it's a change nonetheless and then defensively they lost Austin Booker who was the big 12 defensive newcomer of the year the guy that had double digit sacks for Kansas he's now with the Chicago Bears who's going to bring the pressure off the edge because as you know their secondary has two All-American corners one of which had one of the biggest plays all season in the Big 12 last year versus BYU you remember that big truck stick hit he put on the ball carrier of the Back Field around the 20 yard lineing up the fumble he just forced and trotted into the End Zone from there he's back Melo dodson's back two all-americans at corner I think the linebackers are as fast and athletic as KU has had under Li po so there's a lot of excitement on that side of the ball too but will they get the same pressure off the edge that they had a season ago that's probably something else we've watched about as close as anything this preseason so you look at uh Jeff Grimes and everybody's familiar with him here he was at BYU and the offensive coordinator uh for a spell uh is this still Lance Li's offense is this still him calling plays or how does that work there at Kansas with with Li and and his offensive system the way it was described to me is that they weren't going to change a ton there could be some additional wide Zone own Concepts there'll be some creative wrinkles that are very specific to Jeff but Lance asked coach Grimes to learn their language learn the way they do things so that it would stay consistent and they'd have that Playbook continuity for a group of student athletes that have been studying this for the last four years and so he's learned some new ways to call things out certainly had it adjust to the way that Lance uh attacks it dayto day in terms of the practice layout and all that but I I think some of the concepts he brings aren't that far uh different from what we were doing anyway they'll just be like I said some additional wide Zone and then we'll see what they do with Jaylen Daniels now hopefully for more than just three or four games hands referred to the injury he had a year ago was a lower back injury and thankfully Jason Bean stepped in and was able to lead us to nine wins but Daniels is one of those guys that if he can stay healthy he's one of the most dyamic quarterbacks in America not just with a big time arm with a ton of zip but in the open field he's so lucive he may not have the track star speed that Jason Bean had but he clearly is tough to bring down a lot of Wiggle a lot of Lucien this as I said and so they want to run plays to get him the ball in space and I'll be curious to see what that looks like with Coach Grimes coming out the gates here they won't show too much one week from tonight versus Lynden would but in week two they go to Illinois on the road in the Big 10 and I think we'll get a a real feel for any differences or new wrinkles that Grimes may have up his sleeve Brian were you you a little bit surprised at Big 12 media today to see Kansas have three teams check out in front of them in the Big 12 media poll Oklahoma State Kansas State and Utah or did you feel like Kansas felt a little bit uh maybe poked in the back or a little disappointed or chip on the shoulder with where they were taken in the Big 12 preseason media poll man that's a great question and I think to to fully understand the reaction of the fan base of the players or whatever you have to understand just how low we once were and this was a program that for over a decade after the mangino era that I talked about was not only 10th out of 10 teams at the time but I mean a distant distant last place in those preseason rankings and so yes our players that have a lot of pride in that locker room feel like they've got as good a chance as any to win the Big 12 or at least be one of the two teams playing for the Big 12 title game come December but I don't think anybody in the fan base like woe is me we only got five first place votes we're only fourth because the truth of the matter is for the better part of a dozen years they were dead last and a first place vote wasn't even a thought of possibility you couldn't even fathom that so I I think uh you we're pretty excited to be one of the more talked about teams if not at the top and the way the schedule shapes up certainly there's some advantages to it but as I caution our fan base and have said on these Airwaves earlier in the summer and and at other times throughout the preseason what we perceive to be the biggest challenges or or weaknesses on a schedule in July and August is going to look completely different in October and November and so yes we dodg the bullet of of not having to play Utah and you don't see Oklahoma State on this schedule either so there are some advantages Arizona is not on KU schedule but they have to go to Kansas State on October 26th that'll be a huge one can't wait for the by U game not only because I get to see my buddy hands but uh such a beautiful backdrop one of the most beautiful settings in all of college football can't wait to call that game in Provo on November 16th and then keep in mind for your fans that might not know this and I alluded to the news Stadium earlier but all six of our home games this year are being played off campus and so while some want to point to Kansas having an advantageous schedule they don't have a a single true home game two of them will be played at an MLS soccer stadium and the other four of being played at Arrowhead where the Kansas City Chiefs call home that's awesome that's really exciting but you're not going to have quite the same home field advantage you would normally have and you open yourself up to the possibility in a game versus Iowa State for example on November the 9th with the Cyclones could travel down and take up half that Stadium our athletic department is doing everything they can to make that not the case but as perfect of timing as this year has been with the 30 seniors all sinking up and having all this report together it's unfortunate timing that they won't get to play this season on Mount orad in Lawrence but believe me as hands can attest to it'll be well worth it when we return home in a year because that previous stadium was 102 years old and what they're building right now what's being erected right before our eyes much faster than I ever fathom is going to be one of the nicest venues certainly in the Big 12 one of the nicest of its size in the country only about 40,000 or so seats but man this is going to be one of those just sparkling gyms of college football homes and we can't wait to show it off when you guys come back in a couple of years so Brian is the Horseshoe and rubbles right now did they just bring down the Horseshoe so what they did was it's a two-phase project and right now about 70% of the previous stadium is gone and has already been resurrected with you know the bones of the new structure oh the far stands on the east side which would have been across from you last year hands those will stay up for one more year just based on trying to complete as much of it as they can to not have two seasons of being displaced playing off campus but once they play next season as soon as next season's over those far stands will come down and they're gonna not only finish the stadium at that point but add in an Entertainment District a hotel all kinds of restaurants and so it's going to be a completely different game day uh feel yet still located on the beautiful base of Mount orad one of the most picturesque Midwestern college football backdrops it maybe doesn't compare to Provo but we think it's pretty nice here completely finish it through phase two by 2026 it'll look like a palace and if you've seen some of the artist renderings and you go to k KU Gateway district.com if you want to check out the pictures kateway district.com we have these kind of arching golden spear or Spire type light structures that that look kind of funky if you're not familiar with them but then you realize they're inspired by the waving wheat fields that Kansas is famous for and when we score touchdowns as hands saw far too often last year we wave the Wheats the arm motion back and forth those golden spires are lights meant to mirror the waving wheat Fields I think it's a pretty cool design and I think you guys will be in for a treat when you come back here once it's finished I believe two of those were defensive touchdowns were Kenny Logan had the other and I mentioned Kobe Bryant earlier hey um before we let you go I you know I I kind of I don't know the whole uh ieat pendant necklace thing with Jaylen Daniels not this past Big 12 media day but the big 12 media day before was just kind of amusing and and you could tell that he was riding high on the hog going into that thing and then the injuries and where's he at mentally and how much of a real competition was there for the starting quarterback job in which he got named uh last week as the as the starter but was it a true competition or was it his all along um and and do you feel like like life's brought him back down to earth a little bit and where's his mindset going into this season you know what that's a totally fair question and and I wondered those same things and it's not to say that a bit of self-promotion in the form of of jewelry that is that his family cooked up for him meant that he was you know way off his normal path of of teamwork and togetherness and all that because he is a great teammate and he's beloved by everybody in that locker room but it did raise some eyebrows certainly and you'll notice it was not around his neck when he went out to Media Day this year I will tell you since we're on in Salt Lake City with a very uh faithful and uh you know highly religious fan base and listening audience and all that he's a kid that's a born- again Christian and grew up in in South La and has a great testimony but I I think that there definitely was some super stardom and a lot of Glitz and Glam and and attention and hype that was coming his way heading into last season that that probably he leaned into a little bit because it was exciting and heck he was the preseason Big 12 offensive player of the year he was in the top 10 of the Heisman Trophy odds and all that and can't help be swept up in that but let me tell you at the core is a really great kid and I think you asked the question is he basically you were implying is a little more grounded this year after having that taken away I I think he is because when your identity as an athlete or whatever we do in life is Stripped Away From You momentarily or in this case for the sake of nine months where the back injury was so debilitating he just couldn't do anything it it certainly makes you grateful for when you are healthy makes you prioritize what's most important makes you do a little self-reflection and I think in his case man he leaned on the Brotherhood of teammates in that locker room he understood as great of a gift as he's been given and how special it is it can all go away with one hit and so he's savoring every day he saw three different Specialists all around the country to get to the loot of the issue with the back problems he strengthened his core he thinks he's in the best shape of his life but specific to his attitude and his mindset since that's what you asked about Scotty I think that I've seen a guy bouncing around preseason practices with that million-dollar smile on his face no million dooll chain on his neck but he's exuding confidence gratitude happiness to be back and he's got that joyful exuberance about him which made him such charismatic personality to begin with but he's leading with me we over me a ton which is the T-shirt logo that all of our players wear on noname days we over me and I think he's got that mindset which should serve him very well in the season ahead well Brian we'll catch back up with you in probably second week of November getting ready for that November 16th matchup Kansas BYU and have you back on air can't wait to welcome you into Provo and for you to get to see the the amazing landscape here as well brother man I can't wait to get out there I've made some great friends out that way in the last year since you guys came in the league of which you are certainly two so thank you guys for having me on today and can't wait for November really appreciate you you got it thanks for your time great stuff man breaking down KU football usually we talk KU basketball but that football team's a real deal and they will challenge for a big 12 title and I'm going to tell you why Utah got the benefit of some scheduling yes Kansas got the ultimate benefit of scheduling yes they play one of the other four ranked Big 12 teams so they're one of the ranked five yeah they play one of the four and that's Kansas State that's the Rival so it's not that big of a trip it's almost like you know BYU traveling to Rice Echo Stadium correct yeah it's just not horrible for them and that's their one conference game that they'll probably well a lot can happen to that point that they they might not be favored in that game yeah outside of that they've got all the they've got Arizona State they've got Houston they've got Baylor they've got Colorado their non their non-conference is UNLV Lynwood Illinois yeah Kansas could be oh yeah they could be there they they have every right to be chirping right now and the first time we see Kansas versus Utah could be in a big 12 Championship be the big 12 championship game that'd be a hell of a game that offense against that defense that gives me that KSL Sports Zone [Music] H olon Scott Gerard 975 the KSL Sports Zone time for another edition of sports roulette as we take some of the big story lines we put it on a roulette will we spin it wherever that little ball lands what we end up talking about by the way one week from today hands we will not only be getting you ready for a game uh but we will be having Frank Dolce with us Frank uh s you guys are still good with that right uh for now yeah now talk to us maybe one week from today we might have a different story after Frank comes in and verbally berates us and makes fun of our looks and makes us feel awful about ourselves we might have a different tune but I am excited to get Frank back on the air him in his freshly pedicured fingernails oh my goodness that dude is like 20 years older than us and looks like he's 20 years younger than us he's really good-looking but he does have a very Mis shapen calf that's true it's hideous yeah he has to conceal it under Jean or pant no it's usually like a he you know a Chino Italian some type of Gucci yeah something that costs more than more than our khaki no no that dude's not rolling up in Dockers that's for sure I love Frank so much and I can't wait because Frank means football and I just he I love his football knowledge yes dude brings it every week so what's okay so two years ago he brought shakes we're not letting him do that then he did wings and then last year he did Wings which was better which was much much better for us let's go wings oh yeah no but I just don't know if if he'll do that I hope he does didn't you start to look oh yeah absolutely that was like my one time where I'm like he was so considerate of you oh I know I told him I'm like I can't do fried you know if and he he got baked brought you non- breaded Wing yeah you wanted me to tell him to bring some like salad we call it the salad mixup uh there's a few names you could come up with for that I'll bet yeah all right 240 let's get to it Lloyd spin that whe [Applause] update Scotty this is happening way too often way way way we went into like serious voice here way too often remember we were talking about Michael Hall Jr the Cleveland Brown player yeah that was accused of domestic violence and some of the most hideous accusal this woman claimed that he HIIT her in the head with the baby bottle dragged her by the feet on her back pointed a gun at her head and yelled I will beeping end it all I don't care apparently there was a family member there and there was Witnesses and all this cooperation yes cooperation well today oh boy the woman who has accused Michael Hall Jr of domestic violence has recanted significant parts of her story apparently Scotty she's engaged to him and she took back many of the claims she made against Hall earlier this month and I don't know how this happens I just well I do but I can't believe that this happens I also want people to know that after the accusal Scotty he returned turned to practice yeah and he played in Cleveland's preseason opener against the Vikings this last Saturday yeah and then they asked coach stansky why was a man that was accused of such heinous acts out on the field and he said well we have to trust the process so he's saying guilty until he's proven innocent we're going to put him on a football field it's F we're GNA where he is going to play until he is proven guilty until then he is innocent of these charges but who get does somebody get a hold of these individuals and say hey you're just throwing your whole life down the drain because then he loses his contract he loses his money and you lose yeah any access to that money I you know there there could be that there could be um hey um we're going to give you this payment and you're going to need to recant some of the things you said there could be that I mean there there could be multiple ways in which this thing played out or she they you know the law official said hey guess what we know this didn't happen and she's like yeah you're right it didn't happen or whatever like look you know there's multiple different ways we got from point A to point B here worst case scenario she's a flat out Li yeah that's why that the last one thing I said that they that they called her out and she's like yeah I made it up if that's the case I've talked about this there has they need to go to prison there has to be 100% cuz this guy would go to prison for if he put a gun to her head and said I will effing end it all I don't care maybe he won't go to prison maybe he just plays maybe they don't even give him a slap on the wrist I don't know I've seen weirder things now for covering so many things over all these years but if she flat out Li in an effort to get him in trouble yes she needs to go to prison I 1,000% agree with you I'm am so tired of these stories I know and it's happening all the time constant we could we could have one of these stories twice a week three times a week easily all right Lloyd spin [Applause] it who is in the wrong here all right um now we all know Lloyd had a bad had run in with an athlete when he was a kid tried to ask for an autograph and got stiff armed and told to get lost and and and and that was a that was a bad moment we've all had we've all heard of these moments where an athlete doesn't behave particularly well well there is a little league coach who is going after Aaron judge and you know what I think I'm leaning Aaron judge on this one so the Yankees that he's in the wrong that the manager the coach is actually in the wrong the Aaron judge is not in the wrong here so let me give you the situation here Yankees are playing in the Little League classic in Williamsport Pennsylvania in preparation for the Little League World Series there is a team from Staten Island that's representing their area in the Little League World Series obviously they're going to be huge Yankee fans and they're going to be huge Aaron judge fans the Yankees who are playing in this obviously wanting to support this team from Staten Island they actually send out manag Aaron Boone Garrett Cole Jason Dominguez they met with the team before that Yankee game against the Detroit Tigers judge was not part of that contingency that went out there but Aaron judge gets up to bat at this little league um little league event and these players start losing their mind they're right next to the warm-up uh Circle and they started saying Aaron Aaron hey Buddy Aaron Aaron and Aaron judge who about to take bat in a Major League baseball game does not turn around and acknowledge these kids because he's doing his job right yes getting ready to have an app Bat in a Major League baseball game well the coach of this little league team starts to put Aaron judge on blast and says hey Aaron on social media how about turning around and waving to these kids from New York who think you're their hero they're the ones to pay your salary how about you give them a moment of your time this ain't it that ain't it man uh the Yankees now this caught fire and of course people have different opinions on it some people are going after Aaron judge some people are going after their coach that's not the way we go about this I am with you 100% on this uh the Yankees it got so heated that they finally had to release a statement defending Aaron judge uh Aaron Boone who again met with this team he took time out of his schedule to meet with the team and congratulate them on their success he's upset about it he said he won't acknowledge this coach's players he knows who he goes I know who Aaron judge is as a man uh he's as good with the community as any player I've been around this is an unfortunate incident where somebody is really trying to disparage Aaron's character Aaron is a role model we're celebrating um judge declined to get in the back and he says I've got no response for this I'm not going to give him a response because it's about the kids we got a chance to spend a lot of time with a lot of great kids at Williamsport make some great memories had a great time at that game this shouldn't be any noise I know right nope this seems like you can't yell at a guy in the middle of doing his job there shouldn't be any and saying infuriating this isn't this isn't time for him to be going and giving your kids high fives and giving them an acknowledgement no okay I'm glad we're on the same page here I didn't know where you'd go on this no I'm disgusted would it take much for him to turn around a wave no is is this happening every day of his life yes every day of his life yeah he can't react every time by the way seen pretty cool videos where Aaron judge is in the Outfield in the in between Innings and he's actually throwing balls with somebody uh a young kid in the Outfield like just play catch but you played professional sports yeah so let's say there's a bunch of kids wearing a 72 Jersey and you're in the Huddle like you know there was just the kickoff and and you're about to take the field and you have that little final huddle on the sideline with your OC or your DC or whoever and and you're about ready to take the field and you and there's a bunch of kids like hey hands hands and you're like I'm about ready to walk onto the field yeah like I'm about ready to go into battle and you don't acknowledge them because you're focused on your job there's nothing wrong with that there's nothing now you have to have a high level of focus at that point absolutely you do now I if I hear him and I turn around a point it's probably just a point and a wave yeah and then we're rocking and rolling it wouldn't be a lot of skin off my back but I would hate to be attacked for not noticing it yeah because I'm doing my job yeah all right we'll wrap this thing up get you ready for JJ and Alex next 975 the EK KSL Sports Zone this is Jake Scott and Ben Anderson there's a different feeling on campus at by you right now with the football team I sense a difficulty turning a corner at least this year because you're not talking about a young quarterback at this point I don't see what you do this year that launches into future seasons of BYU being on this significant upward trajectory especially when so often our conversation has been like can you win six games six games at BYU absolutely has to be the standard it's a great football program historically six wins cannot be the bar yeah they they're not below six wins all that often in their history I I hope it's not just this weird Dead season it just feels like a little bit of a dead season that we're going to book end on both sides and say it has nothing to do with the future nothing to do with the past here Jake Scott and Ben Anderson every day from 10 to no on 975 the KSL Sports Zone looking for the latest on the Jazz Utes cougars and Aggies we've got you covered this is H Olsen and Scotty G on 975 the sports [Applause] Z hands and Scotty wrapping up another edition of the show big thanks to everyone who helped us out on this one hey by the way uh life your life moves fast Quantum fiber internet is even faster move up to tomorrow speed today Quantum fiber i.com that's Quantum fiber.com Dave's hanging out with us with America First Credit Union and uh there's so many great Community elements to what you do um and just it's it's really fun to partner with an organization that everybody says the community is important to them but not a lot of people actually put their money where their mouth is America First does that over and over and over again and a lot of stuff that doesn't get a lot of Pub like your backpack Drive the diaper drivers a lot of these things you do is not on a lot of people's minds but you guys do it anyway yeah I've really loved Scotty our the America First charitable foundation and through that organization um we look at programs that already existing in the community or we develop our own uh programs to benefit individuals in our commune who are maybe a little bit disadvantaged um we we just wrapped up our backpack Bonanza you can still donate to that we're still collecting those supplies to see um you know how many back packs that we gave away but last year we gave away over 1100 backpacks to school kids and those and you don't think about it but every kid needs a good backpack they do they need backpacks we did a diaper Drive last year it was it was our first year doing this last year we gave out 38,000 diapers uh to diaper Banks and that was only with our Management Group we said let's expand that so this year we expanded that to not only our managers but our employees our members and the community at large and I'm proud to say that we donated over 359,000 wow so almost 10 times what we did the previous year so the power of coming together for a good cause is so important to us and we' love it let's talk about the things you can do to help the consumer right now um look everybody's keeping an eye on interest rates everybody's keeping an eye on how they can save a dollar what they can do creatively to save themselves some money I love this 0% credit card for six months where you can really maybe consolidate balance transfer make some big purchases like Christmas that's coming up this is a perfect time of year for six months of just taking a deep breath and being like okay I can I can breathe for a little bit this is this is awesome yeah when you when you think about that concept of of us helping you get your money working for you we want to find tools and resources that really help you do that so you know we encourage everybody to look for ways to get that money working for them and a 0% credit card for six months is awesome or take advantage of of offers like that 0.25% off a home equity loan home equity loan a lot of people uh are got themselves into a let's just say I'll use myself for an example um you know I've I we bought this house that we're currently in thinking that okay we'll be here for you know 10 years or so and then we're going to move into our dream home well guess what we then locked it in at 2.8% you know four or five years ago we're not leaving that we're not moving that house so when we need to make repairs and some big things like that we're like okay well let's tap into that equity and that home equity line of credit which I signed up for North America First has been just hugely beneficial for us with an incredible interest rate and now you're making it your dream home yes exactly so we're turning our current home into our dream home yep exactly that's just the tip of the iceberg of what you can do at America first thank you so much for hanging out with us we love being here we love your listeners so thanks so much Scotty awesome americafirst.com get there now it's americafirst.com JJ and Alex next right here on 975 the ekl Sports Zone
