good afternoon everybody hola I'm doing well actually I'm doing well yourself coach one thing is uh you guys you and Coach maloff dealt with a variety of different guys coming in and out of your lineup now you get two other guys potentially Chase Edmonds right and also Jacob Martin what do you feel like they can offer to what you guys are doing on the team side of things so obviously Jacob Martin he played uh when we played the Jets he played an extensive amount of special teams so we got to evaluate his tape uh us first the Jets obviously I think he's going to help us as far as being a four core player we just got to see what his rep count is on defense but we intend on using them absolutely and then as far as uh Chase we just got to see what the offensive plan is if he's going to be heavy involved in the running the running game then it's going to be hard to use him on extensive special teams so we just got to figure out where they uh where they are on offense and defense and then uh make a plan off of that what happened on the delay of games on the kickoff in the pond well the kickoff is easy we had a guy on the sideline eating a hot dog I guess he didn't go out there so we had 10 guys out there and I obviously had to address him on the sideline and we got that taken care of again it was a transition from field goal straight to the kickoff we didn't have a chance to huddle generally we huddle on the sideline and we count to make sure we have 11 guys but obviously field goal to transition on the field is a little bit more difficult and again you know uh not going to say any names but he knows he was supposed to be out there going forth we made an emphasis of everybody all 11 guys being out there on the delay of game penalty has to be better communication between myself and what the actual situation is we thought that we had a first down the spot was bad so we were trying to get a look at it took a little bit longer up top to get a picture of it that's where you got to delay a game penalty is this where accountability comes into play though accountability for who for mistakes like that there has to be some sense of it I would assume I mean you address the Players and what are you going to do after that though you're going to say you're not going to play next week if there are core special teams player I mean you tell them what you want you expect them to be there especially since we practice and he was out there at practice now he has to be out there on kickoff there is nothing I can do I can go there and grab all 11 guys individually hey it's you out there you're out there but at some point they got to realize what phase we're on and know that they're on that phase and be out there when you look at the self-scale at the bye week what are your takeaways positive negative from from where the Special Teams around we had a mid-season review on Monday um I think we're doing a a good job on kickoff coverage we're we're doing all right we've obviously given up some returns that I don't like 29 yard returns 28 yard returns but at the end of the day we have some success for San Francisco Houston et cetera so it kind of balanced out I think we're doing good on punt as well causes actually doing a better job as far as distance as far as location as far as hang so we're doing well at that as well pump return we're doing a good job everybody obviously knows kickoff return is where we're struggling we've had nine reps of kickoff return and I blame our defense to be completely honest with you because they're stopping offenses so much we're not getting those kickoffs right so I blame ejiro and I blame the defense they're doing too good of a job um if we add more reps then obviously you get better with the more reps you have you're going to get better and you're going to produce I try to emphasize to those guys yeah we're we're 31 or 30 whatever the case may be which makes me sick to my stomach but we have time to improve that we have nine games you can't just pout and and think about what the the past has brought us we got to move forward and build off where we are right now as a returner specifically what do you want to see Montreal do oh that's easy that's easy make better decisions 100 I've addressed Montreal several times especially on the inside to 20 punts he knows what his his return on mechanics are catching the ball inside the five things of that sort it cannot happen we just put our offense in bad field position obviously we get a big return everybody's excited and things of that sort but nine times out of ten you're not going to get a big return on the inside the 20 punt so he has to do a better job making decisions and it's been addressed trust me it has been you'd rather have it that way though right a guy who that you got to say whoa whoa whoa instead of Giddy Up 100 but that's that's Montreal being confident in his ability and I think sometimes he pressed to he presses to make plays right he plays a little bit of offense but at times he's not getting the balls so the next place he can make a play is as a returner so now he gets in a situation where oh I got to do this for my team because we keep harping and myself included we have to provide positive field position for our offense we want to Prov provide positive field position for our offense so it might be me putting a little pressure on him I know for sure that we've had a conversation and he understands fully what we expect out of him how tough is it to get that balance from him and does that is that something that could take a year to to find I mean hopefully it doesn't take that long but a lot of times you know if you look across the NFL there's a lot of teams that allow their guys to catch the ball within the five-yard line you know I'm not going to name those teams because we play some of them in our division but I think when we're watching Tate Montrell sees that those guys get some explosive returns but he also has to realize how it could hurt our team right if I catch the ball inside the five and not only get to the six yard line now it's a one-yard return and now we're operating from inside the 10-yard line nine times out of ten again it's not going to be a great result trying to fill the ball inside the five yard line and it will be a test or a challenge for him to balance that because he wants to make plays and he wants to affect the game on special teams but again we've had a conversation myself in Montreal several times he's been in my office I've talked to him out here I've talked to him after the game so he understands what we fully expect from and I think he's going to get better moving forward for these next nine games thanks for not asking any tough question guys
