[Music] oh and hello and welcome back to the our depth chart show I am your host Ryan mcke and joining me as always is Corey Hanky the prince of punters as well as tuckas the Duke of dep charts The Man Behind all the depth chart changes on ourlads football thank you both for joining me today we've got an exciting show we're going to be talking about all the news that's happening in the NFL as well as doing a deep dive into the uh charts of the Eagles and of the Patriots so are you guys ready to go Tucker Cory you guys pumped yes oh yeah can't wait let's go all right well first the first news that came across the feed was that the Jacksonville Jaguars uh have confirmed that their new stadium will be built it's uh $1.8 billion do is that what am I getting that correct I I believe so uh let's take a look at a video that the Jaguars put out about their new stadium let's show this right now this transformation will become a catalyst for Jacksonville that transcends the Jaguars and the NFL creating a revitalized and re-energized urban destination that will show everyone and remind us that we are indeed proud bold and committed Jacksonville is ascended and the nation is taking notice just jackonville is ascending and the nation is taking notice how pumped are you guys for this new stadium in Jacksonville I'm pretty I'm pretty excited for I think it's significant for the city of Jacksonville to be honest with you I think uh I think it's really great for their Economic Development they got yeah it's a pretty sweet looking Stadium here I'll put up a photo of it right there you they yeah that's that's that's Sleek look at that it is a Sleek looking Stadium right there near the water uh uh it's going to be great for Jacksonville they have confirmed that they are now staying in Jacksonville for another 30 years uh there's been speculation for decades that this team would move because it's such a small Market uh you know even speculation that they'd move to London uh but no uh shod Khan is keeping them in Jacksonville building a new huge Stadium uh it's going to be exciting for the people of Jacksonville and Jaguars fans everywhere uh I don't know what do you think you're you're our expert on Stadium experiences Corey and fan experiences uh what does this mean I don't really know if I'm an expert on on experience I I hold I hold the opinion of myself and uh you know first and foremost going from a open air Stadium to a closed air Stadium I think improves pretty much all fan experiences you know I think we all have those days where in the fall we think of it just a crisp 77 degrees with a slight wind and that might be true a few times in the season but it does tend to rain and you know those early preseason games and early games in Jacksonville are smolter in hot uh so you know they're saying they're going to keep it anywhere from 10 to 15 degrees cooler than the ambient air meaning the air outside uh which I think will be beneficial for them and uh you know uh Mr Khan like you know he bought a team I believe in 2013 seen the soccer team in in London as well uh so I was just thinking from a fans's perspective you kind of alluded to it Ryan but being able to know that for 30 years you can bet on them being there without severe Financial pen penalties uh that really allows young young fans to get committed and and fans that were kind of half in and half out to be committed but I think not to be overlooked is also free agents you know when you're looking I think that would be the fear of God to me is moving being overseas with the young family like many of these players are and then getting back in the time zones and then of course the marketability of players you know I think that's something that could be challenging and you know what maybe it's good too maybe it'd be good to be the only show in town in Europe for the NFL players get their own endorsement deals um but uh you know looking at this I I I think the the numbers came out anywhere from 1.4 billion to 1.8 billion yeah U but uh and kind of look through the the contract or at least the preliminary uh kind of responsibilities I thought really interesting how the city of Jacksonville and KH and team are splitting it uh about 700 million a piece in what they're building but Mr Khan is taking if anyone's ever done any construction he's taking the Lion Share of risk uh and that he will pay for anything above and beyond and I was kind of thinking I was like gosh if you've built something you know how it goes like Oh that chandelier isn't laced in gold if it's not laced in Gold I don't I don't want it uh and to give you an idea the the LA Ram stadium was 107% over construction budget if you can imagine that and you know that was tipping the scales almost at five billion so they were they were 2.8 billion over budget then I was like well what other stadiums you know the the San Francisco 49ers stadium was 67% over budget and that's 576 million and you look Atlanta which actually the same architectural firm that built at Landon Stadium which when you look at that picture and you see that metallic look to it you can kind of see the inspiration of the design team coming out again but they themselves were 60% over budget $600 million over budget uh and even the Minnesota Vikings stadium that was recently built um US Bank they were they were easily 22% over budget a kick in the bucket of $200 million so I think I think Conan team you know uh they better they better say that's good enough when they're building the project because those costs can increase greatly and uh you know um my kids may tell you different but money is doesn't grow on trees and uh when you're looking at buying players and going over the cap or buying coaches or improving Fan Experience uh look if it goes downhill look for that over budget number to see if uh Conan team would spend a little more than they originally planned on yeah yeah no agree with all that uh moving on to our next news item uh Titans defensive tackle Jeffrey Simmons says that can't wait to Trash Talk Bears QB Caleb Williams in week one uh just got me thinking about some trash talk discussion Corey you were a punter in college did you get much trash talk from the opposing team you know uh I know in our production meeting you had POS that question and I and I and I've been thinking about it forever and I was like maybe I just was a nice guy but I do remember one time it's not really trash talk but uh one time my first game I played I actually transferred schools from Iowa State to Northern Iowa and uh a lot of my teammates were on from Iowa State were on the defensive line at Iowa State in my first uh experience running on the field to hold a kick for the kicker and uh you know they were screaming across the line like hinky hinky we're coming coming after you we're coming after you uh you know I'm sure [ __ ] I held the laces dead back at the kicker so I think they might they might have got to my head a little bit they got in your head uh oh lace is out Cory lace is out I know I know but Brian he still nailed it he actually crushed the kick and the second I stood up and said nice job he's like yeah the lasers were dead back but uh other than that I haven't had too many experiences I will tell you though the defensive backs on most teams are uh gifted with the gift of Gap uh some of some of them can have some really good on liners uh don't talk about no one's Mama now don't be talking about my mama like that uh but uh it's it's I like the guys that trash talk and then and then back it up on the field so I'm real curious to see what what he has to say to Caleb yeah no I am too uh all right this is one that Tucker brought to our attention the NFL announces specific important dates for the the 2024 season uh roster cuts are going to be August 27th where they cut down from 90 players to 53 players on August 28th the teams will establish their practice squads 17 players total including one international exempt player and then on November 5th that is the trade deadline at uh 4M Eastern Time Tucker what else did you want to talk about with this um it's just notable like a few of the it's a little bit earlier than than last year for both those dates so like the roster Cuts was on the August 30th last last year and then um for the trade deadline it's already been known that it's going to be moved back a week but it's it's interesting to see like so last year it was at um it was August 31st I think um and so the trade deadline was what I think it was I think it was a week earlier um oh so oo October 31st yeah right okay uh so there'll be there'll be some implication there but it's it's probably more of a reaction due to the uh how they added a week like back a few years ago so um yeah I don't know I don't know if there's there's much else to say about it but uh yeah it's good to have the official dates finally in mind yeah when was when was the roster 53 man when did you say that was the deadline on that was that is August 27th yeah uh and what since we're on Tucker right now can you tell us what the biggest depth chart moves have been in the last week since we last talked yeah it's been pretty dead this last week um there hasn't there's been like a lot of players being released because of the teams uh signing last last week we talked a lot about the um the players coming over from the UFL uh so a lot of players were released um at part of the procedural you know they need to make room um some of those didn't go through yet till till this week so otherwise like there hasn't really been any signings this week it's been um kind of a slow period right now this is like the first week in a while that like not much has happened yeah we talked last week about how more UFL players will be getting signed as the weeks go on um just we had the first batch last week that we talked about any other new UFL players that of significance who've been signed yeah there were a few that were like unofficial that like um we heard like through their agents or or somewhere else that they were signing with the team but the team still needed to make cuts um so they can't officially announce it yet uh so like the Falcons had to um Prince Amil and Jared Jones Smith both a defensive tackle and an offensive tackle respectively um makes sense they basically just cut guys of the same position um to make so they just like their prospects better probably of uh you know developing into a practice squad guy or or like has high upside yeah yeah all right anything else on the depth charts that you want to mention before we move on to our main stories uh no we can go ahead and move on all right so it uh in an interview this last week Dallas GT is it GT or goer GD I don't know I hear it both ways I I say GD personally but GD yeah Eagles TI Dallas GD is eager to play in Kellen Moore's offense uh I wanted to see what you guys think about how Kellen Moore's offense will change the eagle ceiling in fantasy and in real life Kell Moore uh formerly of the Cowboys and then moved to the Chargers last season kind of a Down season for the Chargers last year right yeah um so do we expect more from him in Philadelphia do we expect the philia Philadelphia offense to be more explosive than they already are uh I would I mean I'd say that they're certainly hoping for an improvement um I think I like it because I he tends to um use utilize like a running back a lot or like a a lead back a lot um like you saw that with Eckler last year and with uh with Zeke obviously with the Cowboys um and so now that they have Barkley uh it kind of fits better with how he likes to run the offense um I'll be interested to see how much of rotation they use but uh besides that yeah I mean I don't know how much of last year you could say it's Kell mois fault I mean certainly some of it might be but um there is kind of a organizationally wasn't wasn't great last year and then also you know the injuries like with Herbert and you can't really do much when you lose your quarterback so um I think that the Eagles is a great spot to land for him for sure yeah do we so in addition to uh using the lead back saquan barley which is good for Fantasy if you want to draft saquin uh what do we see about maybe him spread well Jaylen Hertz spreading the ball around a little more to the wide receivers AJ Brown still gonna be his main target uh what are we thinking uh as far as how the ball gets spread around I think it'll be I think it' be somewhat similar to usual um I think they might they might might go a little bit heavier on tight end uh because their receiver core is just pretty weak besides those top two of AJ Brown and Damonte Smith um so it could be we see a lot more 12 Personnel we talked about anas Smith and Johnny Wilson before I mean h what do we we have any hype for them coming into the year as rookies they're exciting I I've just now now that we had OTAs um I know that anas Smith was kind of struggling during OTAs and then um Johnny Wilson I know people are excited for too but uh these are kind you know they're kind of later round picks so it might be more like they make the practice squad and then you know and then get elevated and then make make their way to the roster so it's kind of tough to tell right now but uh during OTAs they're they weren't like super involved um it was like Paris Campbell usually was like their kind of third reer and I know they they like Joseph and God up too who is an undrafted guy from last year got it got it uh any questions for the Duke uh Corey on this depth chart uh or Eagles new offense I'm just kind of well I'm curious to see how they're going to do without Kelce there I mean Not only was he a Savvy vet but we all know he has a personality uh I got interesting to see if the tush works as well right without Jason Kelsey I don't know how much they'll do that like because he was really you know an important part of it so I'm I want to see like how successful it is if they do end up running it again um I like I do like that being said I do like the moves they made um I mean they drafted cam Jens two years ago to be Kelsey's replacement but Kelsey ended up playing you know a couple more seasons so um they kind of had that in place though the succession plan so they moved cam Jurgens over from Right Guard to Center and then Tyler Steen is now going to be a starter who is their third rounder from last year and then they also brought in Matt Hennessy from Atlanta and he's a great he's like an awesome the ideal like uh backup interior lineman so he can play center guard and then they also drafted Trevor Keegan and Dylan McMahon in the fifth and sixth rounds respectively as well and that's just really Shore up the middle and they also brought in McKai beckon from the Jets to kind of be that backup since Lan Johnson uh has sometimes has injuries issues so uh I like a lot the kind of depth that they've shorted up there they seem to have taken a lot they have a lot of rookies on offense can you tell me about their defense they drafted quinan Mitchell in the first round and H Cooper dein one of your favorites Tucker uh uh how is their defense looking for the season yeah I mean but like their their huge weakness last year was the secondary um it's it's crazy because like last year James Bradberry was a you know one of their starters but now it's looking like he'll probably be a cut like a roster cut and then Isaiah Rogers who they signed over from uh he was on the Colts before but he was suspended all of last year due to a gambling uh suspension um he's like in at OTAs he's been like their main outside their top guy because Darius Slay hasn't been practicing so uh that's I actually ended up putting him ahead of quinan Mitchell for now um because there's not enough and like that's expect Quan Mitchell to start right no I mean he might he might not start Rogers has been like in OTAs Rogers is usually starting so it's been like uh quinon Mitchell has been starting sometimes as well because slay is hurt but you know when slay comes back um we'll see you know there's definitely he could definitely be a starter but it's totally feasible to just be the third guy who rotates right right um as far as oh sorry go ahead I was say do you do you see uh the Eagles representing the NFC uh in the NFC championship game uh I don't know I mean I feel like I like them I like them for their division um I feel like they'll they'll bounce back from kind of the end of last year where you know things weren't going great like on either side of the ball um I feel like they'll get going back to kind of usual but um they'll have I mean the the NFC East is is doing a lot better here with the I mean obviously the Cowboys and then the uh Washington I'm kind of excited for jayen Daniels and Dan Quinn as head coach they could I mean we've we've heard on shows people some people have them as like a a wild card you know it's kind of a fun one um but that being said I I like you know I like all the moves that they made I feel like every year they always win the draft like they always draft guys we have highly rated um so it's always just like wow they just they won it again so well I just I just say that because when we look at the dep charts you know it's so easy to pick them apart you know uh they've made all these mass changes they've added these people and of course remember last year but you know I can't help but think in the NFL everyone put such an emphasis on quarterbacks and you know I don't know if there's five guys are taking over Jaylen Herz you know I he might be a top tier quarterback and I still I still if you're going into the season with a team that's certainly been there you know two years removed from the Super Bowl it's not like they haven't been there recently uh some key notable losses and in additions as you said I I kind of kind of torn myself but I feel like they probably will be in there I I just I kind of like the third the Jaylen coming off and and a new coordinator and a new look and some new key players yeah uh I'm curious Tucker what you think about uh one of the things that Cooper de was known for coming into the draft was his punt return ability uh you have him right now behind uh Britain kovi uh what are you hearing about Koopa Deen as a returner um yeah I mean he'll definitely be used as a returner just I know that kovi is like is one of the best returners as well so they could you know have de do more kick returns I know right now they have I I put Rogers as the top one because those were kind of the names that I saw being floated around for those two spots during OTAs um that's those were the guys taking reps but uh so dein could certainly be used on kick returns as well um but uh yeah I mean I'm excited to see him on kick returns but the the main thing for me is that um they kind of needed somebody because their their nickel corner is avonte Maddox and he's solid but problem he is he's been getting hurt every year um he was a free agent this season this offseason but they ended up resigning him recently um but I could totally foresee it you know he gets hurt again and then Cooper deene has to come in you know be that starter at the nickel spot so yeah his wor utility will be very useful to them and then especially the return ability as well got it all right anything else on the Eagles or should we move on to the Patriots I think well one one more thing is just they the big thing they lost was Hass reick but they replaced him with Bryce Huff which I don't think is that bad of a downgrade um like he's a really good player too he just was kind of stuck behind a lot of guys on the Jets the Jets had a lot of edge rushers it was it really suck to put them it was like Will McDonald wasn't was the third string which is just weird because he was a first round pick last year so it looks a lot it's a lot nicer looking for the Jets uh perspective because now they can actually get guys playing that are younger and then also the Eagles uh financially couldn't really afford to pay reic a contract so bringing Huff in to be a little bit cheaper I think was a really good move and they also drafted jayx Hunton the third who I am assuming will kind of take over for Brandon Graham as he uh as he winds down here in his career okay I have a question I have a formatting question I'm just kind of curious Tucker why do we have some uh capitalized like like Mr slay there is that oh I know the answer to this over over 30 years old ah big boy you get the big boy font when you get over 30 yeah yeah it's I mean it's basically just to say you know if you see tons of capital letter names that are starting and stuff it's like oh they're trying to win right now you go to the Packers roster it's like none none are capital because it's like the young it's insanely young I have always wondered that I just thought it was because you were lazy and didn't want to uh lower case anymore no it automatically it checks for the age and it will make it I don't even touch it so computer code cool all right let's move on to the Patriots uh this came up because there was a news story about how Demario Douglas could lead the Patriots in receiving that's good if you're good to know if you're in fantasy um oh wait my computer oh there we go uh let me scroll down here I gotta close a video problem all right back to the Patriots uh all right so we were talking about Demario Douglas could lead the Patriots in receiving uh they also drafted uh Jaylen pulk and um uh Javon Baker who people are also excited about uh you have Javon Baker right now behind Kendrick Bourne which makes sense he is uh but Jaylen poke you have him starting uh Tucker It's really wide open right now now so this is just kind of my best guess as to like how things have been going at practices I I I'd say Bourne and uh Kendrick Bourne and de Mario Douglas are the top two and the rest are kind of an open competition right now like even like Juju is in the third string that I expect to probably be cut um there's like just there's so many receivers they have here now now that they drafted two more um that you know it's going to be a fierce competition to make the roster uh in August that's interesting uh what do you think about the idea that tamario Douglas leads the Patriots in receiving I think it's totally feasible I mean last year the main concern is just it can stretch as he was really good last year but he had I think he suffered a concussion like two separate times so like he he kind of missed you know intermittently which isn't helpful at all to get you know kind of a rhythm you know build off momentum um but you know it's going to be a whole new offense with Alex velt and you know new quarterbacks as well so it's going to be to different kind of ball game here but I think that you know being a young receiver you'll be able to kind of transition here um he hasn't you know uh Kendrick Bourne I think will help lead lead these guys the rest of them are pretty young um I mean they brought in KJ Osborne from Minnesota uh Corey did you have any opinion on KJ Osborne uh yeah I gotta tell you I love KJ Osborne I really do he just can't catch all the time you know you may you may hit hit like mazee but you run like you know uh he always can't catch it but I'm telling you I was telling my son this morning I feel like he might be a uh uh this might be the second life he needs getting out from Justin Jefferson but he can take the top off a defense any single any single play and that's what was great about him he had some really big game so don't sleep on him yeah I feel like he especi I feel like he's especially well fitted to be kind of a number four or five you know like a backup guy um where they can kind of bring him in for his specialty of being a deep and so I like his fit here a lot it's just it is tough with all the other names that they have I know Reger is doing well too uh and boot who have they have the I have in the third string right now but it's like those first one through three string any of those guys could make it on the roster but redraft in redraft leagues who are you drafting first receiver wise or the Patriots I like I like Demario Douglas the best okay after last year um Kendrick Bourne is is good as well it's just um I don't know how much they're going to be focusing on you know trying to bring those young guys in and like developing them kind of for future um I could see that kind of shift later on in the year um where like maybe they end up having pul and Baker both starting you know by the end I'm not sure but uh Douglas is someone that I I think certainly will be a starter um and totally feasible to say that he would be a that he could lead them in receiving all right and do we have any idea have we heard anything what they're saying I we hearing jacobe brette will start the year uh are we hearing any plans to bring in Drake may like halfway through the season or after a couple of games or what's the latest on that I I I haven't heard any like they just rotated I mean it was mainly brasset was the the first string guy I mean I think that they're pretty they've indicated that it's going to be peret but you know I don't know what the the gambling lines are at right now but I feel like week one be Bret um the question is when they'll end up putting in May um so it could just take you know if they're having a losing a record and like they just want to kind of get something going um bringing him in uh but I know what I do know is that uh kind of the back end bayy zappy I don't think will make it I think since they drafted their uh Joe Milton in the sixth as well um there's not really enough room for all four uh yeah so you're saying I can drop bayy zappy from my Dynasty team yeah yeah yeah like I mean I was planning on it anyways but he he'll catch on somewhere else probably you know especially definitely as a practice squad at least but like um yeah it's it's not not worth rostering right now though for sure all right there other big thing I want to talk about is their o line which is like the biggest problem um they they kind of first Cole strange is hurt um he didn't he hasn't really been great the first two years of his career but he's hurt and might not be uh available for the first week or first couple weeks um but they have Mike Anu who was like their best lineman they can they'll either play him at tackle or guard I've been kind of moving him back and forth because I'm not sure yet uh they've they've been playing him both spots uh right Right Guard and right tackle um they have uh Chuck sakor for they brought in from the Steelers who they're moving from right tackle to left he's been like a career right tackle but they're moving into left side and then uh their two rookies leaden Robinson and Kaden Wallace they both could end up being starters week one just because of how like they're how much they lack on the on the o line um front and also just because those guys have been doing pretty well I he at Camp um so I I could see this really being shuffled around by the time August comes around but uh Anu will definitely be a starter and ciso and David Andrews but uh I want to see if those young guys make the the jump to be starters week one or if opting for like veterans instead interesting all right anything you want to say on the defensive side of the depth chart their defense is largely it's like largely this same you can see that there's no gold at all like no rookies in the first or second string the only like guys that they signed that I can see are just Jaylen Hawkins who's going to be like uh the third safety um they don't or fourth safety they're moving mapu back to safety uh and they also brought in um uh see only Tak Taki from from uh the Browns but yeah it's like pretty much the same defense as before and they're just hoping that they can get going better especially having Christian Gonzalez healthy is the big one because their defense was doing pretty well with with having like that outside Corner Spot filed um the nickel nickel spot is not certain yet like they would probably rather have a young guy be outside like Alex Austin or Isaiah Balden and then have Jonathan Jones start at the slot but that's kind of up in the air right now so uh I I like the defense and it's still you know it's still the same coaching staff so I'm interested to see if they are able to kind of make a step take a step forward here the same coaching staff as last the on the defensive side but head coach don't you guys this this is probably one of the more interesting teams to keep a close eye on during the preseason you know absolutely I think so much up in the air yeah I think this is a team that when I see they're on the air for the preseason I'm going to turn into it I mean Joe Milton the third he's great I mean he was great in college played a lot of football and of course Drake May uh jacobe brasset no disrespect but I don't get really excited about him you know so I feel like maybe he might be the one to take the first bullets of a you know a new offensive regime and coordinator and whatnot but I just think it's going to be a really fun preseason for the Patriots and they've got 27 receivers so I'm curious to see who makes it through yeah absolutely all right well that is going to do it for our ourlads depth chart show this week please join us again same time same day next week
