perhaps videos like that is one reason men under 30 are running towards Republicans in 2016 35% of young men prefer the Republican party that number has grown to 48% as of last year Paul Waldman all right let's dive into one of the hottest questions in politics why are young men fleeing to the Republican party it's one glaring issue that Democrats are totally staying away from they don't even want to address why are they loosing the young men of America there's really uh it comes down to two issues right young men say they care about the economy broadly speaking this is the Wall Street Journal numbers and women say they care about abortion in terms of their their number one issues again broadly speaking Wall Street Journal numbers so Wall Street Journal does a story Rob what page is it on here oh there it is that one right there it says why so many young men are leaving democrats for Republicans uh very very insightful and how big the differentiator is Young voters have supported Democratic candidates for over 20 years however recent Wall Street Journal polling shows that Republicans are closer than ever to winning the group especially among young men while 2020 exit polls show that young men back President Joe Biden by 15 percentage points February 2024 wsj poll found that they favored former president Trump by 14 percentage points okay let's get two different perspectives on this growing Trend first up let's listen to the young voters um young people um are going towards him uh they know that the economy was way better uh when he was president uh he has a plan for to tackle the housing crisis with the how bad the prices are and a lot of young people especially like people like us uh we're looking for a home and we can't afford one so that's a big issue for people our generation gen ZZ and uh like you said specifically young men um are gravitating more towards the president um doing things like interviews with Jake Paul or Logan Paul or whoever it was um going to UFC events so I think doing stuff like that really appeals to to younger guys like us and I mean Donald Trump's on Tik Tok you know he's reaching out to the younger audiences on there you know it makes sense and I think more people gravitate towards him because they realized under President Trump the world was almost stable he didn't start any new Wars you know he's the one that brought foreign relations and you know he kept China in check he kept Russia in check he kept North Korea and check you know I think people strive to want that stability back cuz the last thing we need right now is another world War a confrontation with China you know I think people realize Donald Trump is the peace that we need in this world now let's listen to former CNN anchor and longtime Democrat Chris Cuomo for men economic of course but also cultural cultural uh young men have to know more about the breakdown of uh color and Creed in there but uh it has not been and I know this is unpopular but just hear it out I'm not saying that uh addressing male dominance and what is masculinity and how it is applied and where it's good and where it isn't I'm I think it's all healthy it's all good to have the conversation and there's lots of room for change however men so the RNC comes out and there's a there's a banner on MSNBC that says um weaponizes masculinity now I believed that the banner from MSNBC was evidence of cynicism and bias masculinity is not a bad word and it has become one and young men are responding to that and they are looking for support and they are looking for validation and sometimes they're going to find it in unhealthy um places and symbols and sometimes they'll find it in good ones but that is part of it Donald Trump and the right plays more to men looking for a space that is okay for them to be men and you can disagree with that you can roll your eyes and you can say no it's only toxic masculinity and nobody is saying that I'm telling you it's part of the equation I have an 18-year-old son I have been around his friends a lot and for years they don't understand a lot of the issues but they have an affinity play with the right because some of the themes of what they reach for when it comes to being a man seem better supported there right wrong good bad I don't know but it's in play Adam so Chris Cuomo's point is basically a cultural one about masculinity although I think it's definitely a part of the conversation I feel like it's a small part and it undersells the intelligence of the young voters and their ability to focus on the real world issues and the problem with the democrat's economy now watch this young voter fundamentally explain perfectly why he is voting for Donald Trump it has nothing to do with culture wars or anything other than substance some analysts think that this generation your generation could be the most conservative generation yet do you think that that really could be the case and if so what is the driving force behind that but I absolutely agree and I think you know Jo bid just isn't a bad candidate his policies are bad for j z as we're constantly seeing that I've been in Milwaukee for the past 4 days and every Uber ride I get it's either driven by somebody who was a retiree who's had to come back to work to you know make ends meet because they can't survive in a dri Biden economy or it's a college student taking a second or third job just to survive in Joe Biden's economy it's hard enough to live in Biden's economy for my parents and grandparents generation it's even harder for my generation getting a start in this economy and absolutely it's making a turn conservative you're right when President Biden was first in office there was a honeymoon period until he tried to pull out pull out of Afghanistan and that's when he crushed one of my biggest dreams which is was serving in the military right after I graduated college so then I look at a lot of the friends that I have who are male around my age they want to have homes they want to start families they want to make a lot of money we all have these individual dreams and then we start to see that it's becoming less and less possible I have guys friends who were who have Finance degrees who are now Baristas because they can't find a job so I think in the in the Biden admin a lot of our dreams are being crushed or hindered but when we see Trump we saw everything that happened in 2019 when Comm Harris even said that prices are cheaper buying a home was cheaper you know maintaining family order and safety was a lot manageable so I think that's what we what men my age are relating to Everyday prices are too high food rent gas back to school clothes that is called biomics a loaf bread cost 50% more today ground beef is up almost 50% there's not much left at the end of the month bonics is working the price of housing has gone up it feels so hard to just be able to get ahead and we are very proud of biomics so why are men leaving the Democrats for the Republicans it's simple the same policies she endorses are the same ones that are killing the economy and young people's dreams like And subscribe and let us know in the comments why you believe young men are leaving the Democratic party
