The weather. Now take this live look outside from our Muskegon tower camera expecting a cloudy night, but things look pretty sunny right now, but that's the things clear up at all. You might be able to see though the northern light might be important. Word there. 13 on your side. Chief Meteorologist George lessons joins us now with more on that George. Yes, indeed. There is the possibility of northern lights here tonight. Skies have cleared this afternoon. It's been sunny a good portion of the afternoon, but we're going to lose that window of opportunity. Let's take a look first. Uh what we call a severe magnetic storm alert has been issued. This is a G four out of a five scale. And again, that is a watch with means a geomagnetic storm is likely it's already peaked out. Many of the monitors that are out in space. It's called a coronal mass ejection. It's hit the earth, it's going to come in several waves and it will continue to hit the earth and cause some issues maybe with your GPS. But this is the latest forecast earlier. It was calling for a massive uh solar storm outbreak. To be able to see those northern lights as far south as Alabama. It is uh the first wave has gone by. So it may be a while before the second wave comes on end. So, uh I'm not getting really, really excited about seeing the northern lights here tonight, but there is certainly the possibility and especially again tomorrow night, if skies do remain clear our forecast, then before this evening, if we do get to see the northern lights, it will be uh clear here this evening. But then later on this evening, after about 11 o'clock or so, the clouds will come on in. So your chances of seeing the northern lights will go down if they do indeed occur.
