of homeowners in Rancho Palos veres will have to find another place to live this morning now the Portuguese Ben neighborhood had its natural gas cut off last month and it will have its electricity shut down at noon today KK news reporter Lis Martinez is live in Rancho pel Ferd is where those million dooll homes are about to be unlivable unlivable and less valuable of course now time is ticking for these residents about 5 hours until their power is shut off indefinitely we have a live interview now Ben Zas he lives uh down the street we are on Ranchos palis ver Drive South and Narcissa Road there was a fire here a few days ago um that caused some concern now your power shut off some residents complaining that they didn't have enough notice what do you have to say well first of all about the fire uh it was just minor um the electric company was notified about that poll in November and didn't do anything about it so I feel that they're negligent and this is an excuse for them to shut us off how much notice did you get well uh they did notify us a few weeks ago that it's a possibility but for the actual um shutdown we got the notice yesterday that the sh that the power will be shut off today so I guess uh 24 hours and some people are saying they're not going anywhere you are one of those people you said you have a plan in place well uh we do have solar lights and um my friend is going to sell me a used generator this morning and we're talking to Sunrun um solar systems for our house so um and we're in the process of uh well I've been using propane because the gas company shut us off a few months ago I guess so so we're going off grid luckily we still have water yes you are lucky that you do still have water and you seem very appreciative of that you said that the community in this area got together yesterday and there was some anger yes not so much my side I'm on the old slide so we're all set uh we have holding tanks but this area is on um the sewer system and without electricity they can't use the water in the house so they're extremely upset all right thank you very much ben Zas again today the power going to be shut off around noon a press conference expected at 11 11:00 with Sheriff's officials and local city leaders again that press conference at 11: the power shut off at noon indefinitely live in Rancho Palace ver is Elise Martinez KCAL news oh hate to hear that they're going through that Elise thank you so much sh
