North Texas @ South Alabama

and last 5:00 game we got North Texas who went 5- s last year to South Alabama who went 7- six South Alabama favor by seven points on ESPN plus Chandler Rogers went 262 of 421 for the mean green last year through for 3,382 yards 29 touchdowns five interceptions AO Adai an underrated back by the way um he had 143 carries for 17 yards and six touchdowns and Jamari Macklin had 57 catches for 104 yards and 11 touchdowns Carter Brad for South Alabama went 221 to 326 threw for 2,660 yards 19 touchdowns seven interceptions leaman web had 186 scares another underrated back by the way for 1,7 yards 16 touchdowns and Colin Le Lacy had 91 catches for 1,36 yards and seven touchdowns and I know what you're thinking how many of those players are coming back zero which is why it's so fascinating for both of these football teams right North Texas and South Alabama have to completely basically turn around their rosters especially South Alabama is interesting because their head coach which has now accepted the Troy job and so if you were wondering the chain of events that was caused by Michigan State hiring James Madison's head coach actually I'm sorry Houston hiring T Lan's head coach it was a lot because then uh tane stole John sumerall away from Troy and then Troy stole South Alabama's head coach away from them I believe um that's what I remember from last season don't quote me on that uh South Alabama is a typically at least the the past couple years they were really bad for the longest time the past couple years they've really turned around their program they've been playing some really good football remember they went to Still Water last year and beat the absolute crap out of Oklahoma State they beat them up and down a football field and keep this in mind this was a Oklahoma State team that played for a big 12 championship last year and beat a top 25 Oklahoma team so like this is not a bad South pad Oklahoma State team by any sh of the imagination South Alabama beat the ever living crap out of them um I think what's really going to be interesting this year is North Texas they were they're acclimated to competing for a Conference USA title and they had a really bad year first year in the American they didn't end up making a bowl game um South Alabama is a team that is typical wants to make bowl games they think that they are a good team in the Sun out I think they don't have super high expectations considering how much talent they hate have to replace but I do think they want to make a bow game I think this game could be really close I do like North Texas actually on the road South Alabama has had some good last couple years but a lot of that has been because of Carter Bradley a lot of that has been because of lacy um I think North Texas probably has more recruits ready to replace the players they lost in South Alabama I like North Texas to go on the road and pull off the upset [Applause] [Music]
