hey MAV Nation so um I really kind of had to debate on uh whether I was going to do a video about this so kind of a battling back and forth with uh would this be appropriate or not with uh what just happened but um as uh as many of you are on the hockey Community know uh this past Thursday um excuse me here I'm probably going to get a uh little emotional uh throughout making this and uh I I do apologize for that but uh this past Thursday uh the worldwide hockey community at large lost uh both uh Johnny grro and uh his brother uh Matthew to a uh excuse me to a drunk driver uh not I think 24 hours before they were supposed to appear as uh Grooms men in their sister's wedding you know it's up it's a horrible thing to think that uh not because of somebody's selfish decision to drive drunk uh that family now has to go from what should have been a joyous occasion to now one of the most heartbreaking and somber of ones that now now uh they will have to say goodbye to these two young members of their family and uh for the Omaha hockey Community uh this hits especially hard Cu uh Matthew during his playing days he for his time in juniors you know uh he was one of us he was a Lancer sir uh for moving on to Boston College with his brother Johnny uh and of course uh we all know what an amazing player Johnny was with both the Calgary Flames and of course more just uh recently with the Columbus Blue Jackets guess but uh Matthew was on his own hockey Journey as a uh as a coach for a uh high school team where he was now living and unfortunately now those young men have to say goodbye to their coach um for the uh communities of Calgary Columbus and uh where Matthew was residing especially for the BC Eagles community um know that the uh the worldwide hockey Community is uh mning right alongside you right now along with uh the the Gad family know uh this this is definitely a uh a senseless loss that's for hockey as whole well not only for Johnny but for Matthew you know especially with it coming out that uh Matthew's young wife if who he apparently met right here in Omaha and is an Omaha native herself well uh she unfortunately is pregnant with their first child and that child is never going to get to meet their father um so uh especially to the Kudo family um know that the hockey Community is with you you and that uh if if you ever need something uh Reach Out Joe because uh uh when it comes to hockey the only people better than the players are the F especially when it comes to tragedy like this like this you know when something like this happens it it doesn't matter who you root for who your team is is when something like this happens you know they are a part of that bigger hockey family and um you know we uh we mourn them and support their friends and families however we can in a time like this um so call with mattrick nation and uh anybody watching uh you know even if it's just for this weekend be sure to put your sticks out by the door so uh uh the G boys can have their pick to twigs you uh when they reach Heaven's Rank and uh boys when you do get there uh take it easy on some of the uh old- that uh got there before you cuz uh they they weren't expecting you yet um and uh I just want to kind of uh leave this with one final announce one final thing uh you know in in these kind of times where we have things like we have Uber we have Lyft if uh locally we have the hotman O'Brien save right home you know this this kind of tragedy doesn't need to happen and we need to do better about making sure it doesn't anymore or that there was no reason no need for this to happen and other than a selfish individual decided to get behind the wheel drunk and uh I just want to say uh you know uh guys if you ever see me out of the game if you're feeling any kind of buzz or Tipsy you see look even if you don't want to call an Uber or LIF after you don't feel comfortable using the hotman O'Brien safe right home you know go feel free to come up and talk to me I me ask me to give you a ride wherever you need to go because I would rather clean your vomit out of my car then here you're being arraigned on charges of driving drunk and hurting or killing someone or worse you chose to drive drunk and now your funeral is being arranged you know it it's really just that simple guys so U uh once again uh FS of the Flames Blue Jackets and uh for the Boston College Eagles um know that we're with you in uh morning the uh passing that these two young men and especially uh with the good girl family in in this time right now um being that uh both Johnny and Matthew were uh BC Eagles um instead of my usual uh sign off now for this video um just want to say uh Fly High boys and uh we'll see you uh when it's our turn take care of yourselves out there everybody
